A young lady who was posted to a remote village to work as a teacher for her Ghana national service program, has become known as ‘The Sewing Teacher.’
Janet Asibi aka Ama Val, upon arrival to the village discovered that a lot of pupils in the community school she was deployed to, did not have a uniform or their uniforms were torn and so, she decided to get a sewing machine to solve the problem.
The lady, who was posted to Nsoatre SDA primary school situated at Bono Region, has now sewn for different schools in the community and wants to take the project to the national level when she gets support.
With the help of one sewing machine that she had learned to use, to sew uniforms for the pupils at absolutely no cost.
“This disheartening development of seeing these young ones whom we refer to as future leaders walk to school in torn clothes compelled me to put my skills in sewing to use,” she said in an interview.
She considered finding solutions to this challenge a collective responsibility hence why she took it up with her personal funds and with the support from friends and loved ones.
A school uniform per child currently costs her 50 Ghana Cedis and sometimes less depending on the school. Ama Val carries out the project successfully through partnering with another seamstress whom she pays.
She engages her service in order not to overburden herself as a teacher. It is her dream to expand this project she dubbed “One Student; One School Uniform” to other affected students in other schools in Ghana.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced the funeral arrangement for Pastor Dare Adeboye, the late son of it’s General Overseer.
According to a statement signed by Leke Adeboye, the personal assistant of the general overseer and younger brother of Dare, a special service will be held on Sunday, May 9th at the City of David Youth Church in Eket, Akwa Ibom, where late Pastor Dare pastored.
The statement added that thanksgiving songs and tribute nite will be held on Monday, May 10th, between 4pm and 6pm, at the RCCG House of Favour, Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
A farewell service will take place on Tuesday, May 11, at the Youth Centre, RCCG Redemption Camp.
The 42-year-old clergy man died in his sleep on Tuesday, May 4th in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family.
He was said to have retired to his bed and did not wake up, until his death, the deceased who would have been 43 years old next month, June, was happily married with children.

Leke Adeboye, one of the sons of the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has penned a tribute to his late brother, Dare Adeboye.
Leke ahead of his birthday reflects on how his brother would have celebrated him if he was still alive. According to him, it was a tradition to give each other gifts on their birthdays, May and June respectively.
Sharing a photo of his late brother, who died in his sleep on Tuesday, May 4th, Leke revealed the clergy man still had his fist clenched like he was holding a mic, as he lay lifeless.

A man, identified as Ki Galang Pamungkas, who went viral after he sprayed insecticide into his mouth has died.
The guru, who is from Bali, Indonesia, reportedly died from a heart attack and it was said his death is unrelated to the insecticide stunt he pulled.
Following news of his death, concerned fans opined that he died as a result of digesting the toxic chemicals in the insecticide.
However, Ki Galang’s brother, I Nyoman Saputra, have debunked their claims.
Saputra told local media outlets: “As his brother, I am dismissing [rumors] that Ki Galang died because of insecticide. He died because of a heart attack.
“He died on May 2, 2021 at 6:15 a.m.”
He added that Ki Galang died at a local hospital in Jimbaran, Bali, and insisted that the medical reports proves that he died from a heart attack.

A Twitter user has taken to the platform to narrate how a woman turned down a job offer because her husband doesn’t want her to have a higher academic degree than him.
According to the Twitter user identified as Dr Brown, she offered the woman a job but included in her offer letter that she must get an MBA while working with her company.

Not less that 14 passengers lost their lives in the ghastly accident that happened along Lagos-Ibadan expressway, on Thursday, May 6th.
It was learnt that the accident, which occurred on Thursday night, May 6th, involved a silver Toyota RAV 4 with registration number, LND 13 GS; a silver Toyota Camry marked, GGE 369 GJ and a Mazda bus with unidentified number.
According to a report by Dailytrust, a commercial bus said to have wrongly overtaken a vehicle had reportedly hit a stationed faulty vehicle, Toyota Rav 4 parked in the middle of the road.
The bus was said to have lost control and somersaulted several times before bursting into flames. The Spokesman of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident on Friday morning, May 7th.
Akinbiyi said 14 passengers including three children were confirmed burnt to death in the ghastly accident.
“In all, 17 passengers were in the bus when the crash happened, with three seriously injured, and 14 burnt beyond recognition, among which are three kids,” he said.
A shocking video making rounds on social media shows the moment a woman buried her late husband with a live snake (python) in Ghana.
In the video, the grieving widow was spotted with the live snake curled around her neck before she laid it on her late husband’s body inside the coffin.
A voice in the background could be heard explaining why she did the ritual. According to the person, the snake bit the tongue of the deceased which led to his death, so his wife decided to bury him with his killer.

A Ghanaian woman identified as Florence, is currently battling for her life after her husband reportedly bathed her with a substance suspected to be acid.
Although details of the incident are still sketchy, a report posted by Crime Check TV Ghana on Friday, May 7th, revealed the woman had moved to her father’s house after her husband threw her out.
He later went to meet his father-in-law under the pretense of pleading for forgiveness but sneaked into the bathroom where his estranged wife was bathing and poured acid on her.
In a Facebook post, Crime Check TV Ghana wrote,
“You made it clear you don’t love her. You throw her out. She moves to her daddy’s house. You go to the daddy to beg for forgiveness only to enter into the bathroom where your wife is bathing to pour acid on her. Thank God the police has swiftly arrested him. This is so inhuman”.

Billionaire heiress, Florence Otedola popularly known as DJ Cuppy has spoken about her first and only heartbreak.
The 28-year-old Nigerian disc jockey and singer revealed she had her first heartbreak was when she was 18 and a freshman at the university.
DJ Cuppy who made this revelation in an interview with UK-based show, Presenting, noted that her first heartbreak at age 18 has been the only one she has experienced since then.
Speaking on what she learnt from the experience the Gelato crooner said she learnt never to depend on someone else for her happiness.

A viral video captures the moment a young lady was saved from committing suicide on a pedestrian bridge in Kropotkin, Russia.
In the video, the lady could be seen clinging to the handrail while waiting for the passersby to walk past her. As soon as the group walked by, she made to start climbing the bridge and swung her right leg over the top of the barrier.
Fortunately, one of the men looked back and swiftly rushed to grab her other leg. The others also joined in to rescue her and pull her to safety.
After pulling her from the bridge, she emotionally collapsed into their arms and she was taken away by the heroic group.

In other news, a 15-year-old South African girl, Lufuno Mavhungu Tshirenzheni, allegedly committed suicide after she was bullied by her classmates in the school premises.
According to the Limpopo provincial police, the young girl from the Thulamela Municipality, Limpopo, allegedly committed suicide by overdosing on pills on Monday, April 12th.
Videos that surfaced online, following the incident, showed the moment the grade 10 student from Mbilwi Secondary School in the Vhembe East education district, was confronted by two other girls, said to be her classmates.
In the video, one of them signals the other to move while she got closer to the victim to slap her countless times. The victim grabs the pupil who was assaulting her in an attempt to block the blows.
Other students can be heard in the background cheering the alleged perpetrator, who is also in grade 10.
Limpopo Education spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene confirmed the incident on Tuesday, April 13th.
