Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed has stated that the Nigerian police is acclaimed to be the best in the world.

In recent times, man Nigerians have complained of various cases of human right abuses by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

Most recently, there was a nationwide protest against a brutal unit of the police force, the protests would turn violent and degenerate into riots after the peaceful protesters were meant with more brutality by police officers.

Appearing on a Channels Television programme on Monday January 25, the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed said the police in Nigeria do a lot to keep the peace even though it is underfunded.

He also disclosed that when Nigerian officers are taken out of the country to an international environment where the logistics for effective policing are available, they perform wonderfully well.

He said;

“When you have police as an organisation that is supposed to fight crime, to maintain law and order, the personnel of that organisation must be properly trained, must be properly equipped, must be given the necessary tools required for them to perform the functions for which they are recruited.

“It is only in Nigeria that you have police officers that don’t have the required logistics that they need to operate, but they struggle and make the society peaceful.

“When you take them out of the country, to an international environment where those logistics that are required for you to do policing job are there, you see them performing wonderfully well. And that’s why Nigerian police officers are acclaimed to be the best in the world.

“Put Nigerian police officers side by side with even police officers from advanced countries; give them the same function; give them the same logistics; you’ll see the officers of the Nigerian police perform better than those that are coming from so-called advanced countries.

“I’m an example. A lot of police officers from those advanced countries worked under me and I directed them on what policing is and what should come out of them.”

Former Presidential aspirant under the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Adamu Garba has condemned the roaming of cows on the streets of Nigeria.

He made this known on Twitter while speaking on open grazing which has resulted in Farmers/herders crises in the country.

According to Garba, cows should be ranched on land acquired or rented by the ranchers and should not be roaming around.

He wrote; “I’m a Fulani man, but I can tell you that it doesn’t make sense for cows to be roaming the streets in 2021. Cows should be ranched on a land acquired or rented by the ranchers. By law, land can only be used through rent or purchase. Govt should step forward & clear this out.

“I believe, to reconcile the raging herders crisis is to open proper communication where each knows the laws of the land. All lands in Nigeria, including forests belongs to some entity, FG, SGs, LGs, Company’s or individuals. Thus no land can be used without proper authorization.

“The problem of the Fulani herders is a betrayal from the city Fulanis, who decided, after moving to cities, acquiring wealth & power, but forget to carry the village brothers along, leaving them in a desperate situation. The rich Fulanis must come together & get ranching lands.

“Land issue is as old as humanity, no any state power can give land to anyone where the land is been identified with owners for generations, without purchasing or renting. The rich Fulani’s must come together & assist our fellow brothers to get reaching land or forest for grazing.

“Lack of proper communication to the herders in understanding the law of land use, by bringing the surrounding communities onboard isn’t good enough. It may well be a breeding ground for a circlical conflicts, a very ripe situation for civil war. This must be avoided AT ALL COST.”

Nigerian lady dies after her boyfriend pushed her from a five-storey building

A Nigerian lady has lost her life after being pushed down from a five-storey building in Awada, Onitsha by her boyfriend, identified as Nonso Eze.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, January 23.

The spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, revealed that men of the Awada Police Station received a report around 3am, that the victim fell from the 5th floor of the five-storey building located at N0.6 Orakwe close, fizzle Awada Obosi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

He further disclosed that police operatives visited the scene, photographed the victim and rushed her to Bex hospital in Onitsha for medical attention, but was unfortunately confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

Haruna’s statement reads,

”Preliminary inquiry from the occupants of the compound revealed that the girl was allegedly pushed down from the room of one Nonso Eze ‘m’ aged 37years of same address who is occupying the 5th floor following a quarrel. Suspect was subsequently arrested and search executed in his apartment where a pair of female slippers and unused condom was recovered as exhibits.”

He added that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy while an investigation is currently ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident, after which the suspect will be persecuted.

According to Alesh, he was at a pub with his friends when Davido and his DMW crew pulled up and were looking for a space to sit.

The actor revealed that based on the things he has heard about the singer and his crew, he wasn’t pleased when they came over to his table and requested to join him.

Alesh owned up to deliberately putting up an attitude, while he told Davido and his crew that he was there before them and can’t vacate the table.

However, he noted that Peruzzi told him that they weren’t asking him to vacate his table but to allow them share the table together since the pub was out of space.

The actor said all the while he was frowning and deliberately giving them attitude, Davido noticed but still joked, laughed and played with him.

22-year-old woman confesses to selling her day-old baby to pastor for N10,000 in Ondo

The men of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo West Local Government area of Ondo State have arrested a 22-year-old woman, Seun Oladayo for selling her day-old baby girl for N10,000 to a pastor.

Oladayo, who hails from Abejoye in Ondo kingdom said she could not cater for the baby because the father the child, one Tope, dumped her the day he was told that she was pregnant.

“I asked the Pastor to take the baby away and bring N10,000 because I don’t know how I am going to take care of the baby.” she confessed.

The pastor identified as Olawale, popularly called Eri Aditu, however reported the matter to Amotekun’s office in Ondo and the young woman was arrested.

He said the baby was given to him in a sack with the placenta by the mother who was desperate to sell her baby.

“I was told to bring N10,000, so that they can give the doctor N5,000 for his job and I did because if I did not, another person would come and buy the baby.” said Olawale.

“I went to the Amotekun to report the woman and she was handed over to Police at Area Commander Yaba in Ondo West Local Government Area.”

Man Loses His Job For Calling His Mother An Illiterate

A Nigerian man reportedly lost his job with a top PR firm for calling his mum an illiterate.

According to a Twitter user, @Lola Okunrin who shared the sad story on the platform, the young man was on a call with his boss, when the boss heard his mother’s voice and requested to speak with her.

The boss asked to speak with the man’s mum, but he quickly chipped in that his mother is an illiterate and then asked his boss to speak to her in Yoruba.

The young man tagging his mum an “illiterate” angered the boss, who said the man is supposed to speak highly of his mother, and not make derogatory remarks about her.

That little mistake on his part cost him his job, as he was immediately fired.

Pope Francis on Sunday, January 24, prayed for a homeless Nigerian man who died near St. Peter’s Square amid freezing temperatures.

Speaking after the Angelus, the pope led prayers for the 46-year-old Nigerian man identified as Edwin, who was reportedly found dead by volunteers from the Community of Sant’Egidio on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

“Last Jan. 20, a few meters from St. Peter’s Square, a 46-year-old Nigerian homeless man named Edwin was found dead because of the cold,” the pope said.

“His story was added to that of many other homeless people who recently died in Rome in the same dramatic circumstances. Let us pray for Edwin.”

The Pope then recalled a story from the papacy of St. Gregory the Great. When he witnessed the death of a beggar in the cold, the 6th century Pope ordered that all Masses be suspended for a whole day, “because it was Good Friday”

“May we be reminded of the words of St. Gregory the Great, who, when faced with the death of a mendicant from cold, said that Masses would not be celebrated that day because it was like Good Friday.”

“Let us think about Edwin. Let us think of what this man, 46 years old, felt in the cold, ignored by all, abandoned, even by us. Let us pray for him.”

According to the news website RomaToday, Edwin was the fourth homeless person to die this year in Rome, where there are an estimated 8,000 homeless people. Many sleep along the edge of Bernini’s colonnade, the semi-circular columns enclosing St. Peter’s Square.

Pope Francis gave the Angelus address via livestream in the library of the Apostolic Palace, where the prayer has taken place since a resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic in Italy.

Veteran Actor, Dan Nkoloagu Is Dead

The Nigerian movie sector mourns as one of its very own, veteran, Dan Nkoloagu, popularly known for his herbalist roles, dies.

The popular thespian died on Friday, January 22, after a brief illness at the age of 83.

His son Dan Nkoloagu Jnr, announced his death on Facebook, as he shared a photo of the actor lying dead in a hospital bed.

The deceased actor was a broadcaster before he went into acting career in the late 1990s. He has also starred in more than 20 movie over the years.

In other news, Singer Naira Marley has reacted to some school children being arrested by Amotekun operatives for modelling themselves as him.

In the video which has gone viral, a lady who is supposedly a teacher in the school described the boys as criminals and also disclosed that they were apprehended in a bush.

Reacting to this, Naira Marley expressed his desire to meet the kids and further described their arrest as “child abuse”. He added that the teachers and security operatives with guns need to be arrested.

Media personality, Toke Makinwa has replied an online troll who said that her current man is only with her for sexual benefits.

Toke Makinwa had taken to her Instagram page to share a photo of herself posing in the snow, noting that she begged her boyfriend to join her to recreate a “Lori and Michael picture in the snow”, but he refused.

In her words,

“We never really grow old ….. Told the man that is currently eating my work to let us take our own Lori n Michael picture in the snow, the bush in him is too strong . I gave up ”.

However, an online troll responded, telling her that the man will soon recreate the photo with another woman he’s actually crazy about.

The troll went on to say that Toke’s current man is “just about the c**chie”.

The vlogger who was apparently not in the mood for argument or explanations, simply wrote, “I’m just about the D xx.”

Recall that the media personality and lifestyle vlogger, Toke Makinwa has sparked dating rumour with fitness expert and business man, Tuoyo.

Toke who is currently in Chelsea London is said to be spending quality time with her alleged new man, Tuoyo.

The duo first made headlines in November 2020, when they reportedly went on a baecation to Turkey.

The self styled baby girl for life, teased her followers with photos of his hand and leg but never a full photo of him or one of them together until recently.

Toke took to her Instagram story today, to repost a photo of them together which Tuoyo shared on his page, and captioned it “TM meets TM”.

Nigerians have expressed dissatisfaction after a wedding photo between an Northern elderly grandfather and a prepubescent girl surfaced online.

The photo of the couple’s wedding calendar was shared on Twitter after their marriage ceremony which held on Friday, Jan 22.

Though the bride’s age is not known, she looks like quite young while her groom is old and grey.

Nigerians questioned why such practices still prevail and is even celebrated.

Others pointed out that the wedding is nothing short of child abuse.

Popular Nigerian singer, Mr. Eazi in a recent video showered praises on his girlfriend, Temi Otedola as he revealed she’s all he’s got.

In a video shared by the billionaire daughter on her Instagram page, Temi teased her boyfriend for coming out in his pajamas.

She asked Eazi why he wore a Pajamas out and in response, he said he does not have time neither does he have money to be going out in fancy clothes.

Speaking further, the singer gushed over his girlfriend and noted that although he has no money or time, he’s happy he has her.

She shared the document above and wrote ;

I have not been served.

But since this is public record, let’s discuss it.

What are your thoughts?

I was insultingly offered 15k and 2,500 a month to sign an NDA but I declined. I gained legal counsel in which we countered his offer. Mind you his first initial offer wasn’t disclosed in the terms of his proposed NDA.

Therefore I was pressured and influenced to sign. Which was already a violation of his own NDA He denied knowing me and our relationship to his lawyers and we’re asked for proof of our affair…now I’m being sued for extortion?

This is such a manly egotistical move. I’ve kept it private but you made it public with the lawsuit. .

All these claims of interviews and talk show threats will have to be proved in court so… I haven’t spoke to anyone regarding our relationship

Big Brother Naija ‘lockdown’ star Erica has taken to her page to comment about the degree of hate she gets.

According to the Actress, she is the most hated person despite the fact that she has a genuine heart and would never stab anyone behind their backs.

The reality star, however, quickly cautioned herself as she noted that she cannot allow herself to be defeated.

She wrote ;
