Anambra State Govt rescues 6-year-old child tortured and starved by her abusive foster mother

Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Ndidi Mezue, on Monday, November 30, rescued a 6-year-old girl, Amanda from her abusive foster mother, Mrs Agatha Uba at Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of the
state.

The accused, a 39-year-old farmer and petty trader is from Awo Idemili, Osu LGA of Imo State, but resides at Adagbe Village, Abagana with her husband and three other children, aged seven, five and two.

The woman claimed she adopted all the children from different locations in Anambra State because she does not have biological children.

Speaking after interrogating the suspect, the Commissioner explained that the rescue was made possible following complaints by concerned citizens who reported the maltreatment, starvation and abuse at child department of the ministry.

“I have to deploy a team from the ministry to Abagana in other to rescue the remaining children. I assure you, we will make sure this matter is investigated to assertain the sources where the children were adopted from, for subsequent prosecution of the lady by the police.” she stated.

The matter has been reported to Police Area Command, Awka for investigation.

A South African grandpa, Ivan Ikes, has taken to social media to mourn the death of his twin grandsons who drowned in a pool at their family home over the weekend.

According to Ivan the twins’ parents had gone to sympathize with another family, and left the kids with the nanny.

However, the twin boys left the nanny in the house and found their way to the pool side.

It was learnt that the drownings were caught on CCTV camera. The grieving grandfather said if it had not been for the CCTV cameras, they would have not known how the boys got into the pool.

Meanwhile, Rescue Care Paramedics arrived at the scene to discover the twins had fallen into the family pool. The paramedics assessed the two boys and attempted to resuscitate them, but all attempts proved abortive and both boys were declared deceased on the scene.

Taking to Facebook to recount the sad incident, Ivan wrote,

“The boys got up and went outside and somehow after fiddling, got the gate to the pool fence opened. The one kid fell in and the other, after what seemed like beckoning to his brother to come out, jumped in to save him.

“They hung onto the Kreepy Krawly for as long as they could until eventually succumbing to their fate”.

A young boy has reportedly lost his life in Lagos after he hanged himself from a ceiling fan on Monday, November 30th.

It was learnt that the young boy identified as Kelvin, hanged himself from the ceiling while trying to confirm if it’s possible for one to die by hanging.

A Facebook user, Vera who shared the sad incident on the platform wrote,

“Life is highly unpredictable, this little boy here helps the aunt in her food stuff shop, like every other business woman, she went to the market to buy goods, not knowing that tragedy awaits her yesterday.

Popular Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi, has taken to social media to reveal that he has been diagnosed with HIV for 16 years.

To celebrate world AIDS day, Bisi Alimi took to his Instagram page to share his story and encouraged people with the virus that its not a death sentence.

He further revealed that the first 4 years after he tested positive to the virus was tough, because of the stigma and discrimination he got from people.

In a lengthy Instagram post, he wrote,

“On this world AIDS day I want to share this again. It’s has been 16yrs I tested positive for HIV. 16yrs I have been living with the virus. The first 4yrs was hard and tough for me, not because of the virus, but because of the stigma and the discrimination and shame.

According to the Twitter user identified as @arthyy_m, his father named him after his grandmother.

Taking to the micro-blogging platform he stated that he loves his dad, but won’t forgive him for naming him ‘Martha,’ a female name of Aramaic origin which means “lady or mistress of the house”.

Nigerian comedian, Seyi Law has replied controversial journalist, Kemi Olunloyo following her apology to him and other celebrities on social media.

Recall that, in 2017, the comedian and the controversial journalist got involved in a horrid social media drama, after Kemi alleged that Seyi’s daughter, Tiwa is Obese and diabetic.

Music executive and singer, Davido has reacted to the house gift kid comedienne, Emmanuella gave her mother as an early Christmas gift.

Recall that weeks ago the 11-year-old comedienne made headlines after she built a super beautiful bungalow for her mother.

Emmanuella shared the good news on her Instagram page, while sharing photos of the beautiful new home, she also thank her mom for her constant encouragement and support.

In an interview with BBC, she explained how she saved up for the house. According to her, she divided her income into four parts and used one part to build the house.

In reaction, the music icon and father of three shared the video on his Instagram story, praising Emmanuella he noted that what she has done for her mother is every parents dream.

Zahra Buhari reacts to the murder of rice farmers in Zabarmari

President Buhari’s daughter, Zahra has taken to social media to react to the murder of 110 rice farmers in Zabarmari village in Borno state.

Zahra took to her Instagram story to share a newspaper shot of the Zabarmari massacre and wrote, “My heart bleeds”.

Her reaction comes two days after Boko Haram terrorists attacked rice farmers in their farms and slaughtered them.

In other news, Zahra Buhari-Indimi has publicly expressed her support for the social media bill which has ignited controversy in the last few weeks.

The President’s daughter who lamented over the cyber-bullying she has been subjected to since her father got elected, stated that she knows that some of those attacking her want to be where she is at the moment.

Recounting the attacks she was subjected to, Zahra said,

“2015 was when I knew what bullying was. It started with my photos going viral. I was actually having a yoga class and I was sweating but people were busy sending my pictures up and down. People used it for their gain during the campaign.

“But the issue changed the way people looked at my dad because they didn’t know that we were educated, we could speak English, and we could dress. So it changed a few things for good. It showed another light. People then understood that in the North not everybody is illiterate.

“The 2015 elections went well. After 100 days, then the blow started coming. ‘Zahra your father did this… Zahra your father did that. But seriously, am I in office with him? Do I take any vital decision?

“Did you understand why some decisions are being taken? When I post my picture, it is my picture. It is not your child’s picture. I kept wondering why people do this to me constantly”.

Ex BBNaija star, Ozo finally fulfils his dream of becoming an On-Air Personality (OAP) as he is set to launch his own show on Brila FM.

Ozo made the announcement in a post made though his official Twitter and Instagram pages on Monday, November 30, 2020.

Recall that the BBNaija Lockdown housemate had disclosed to fellow housemates during the show that he intends to become a sports show presenter someday owing to his burning passion for sports.

Well, that dream has materialized as he is set to anchor his first radio show as an OAP with Africa’s first and Nigeria’s only sports radio station, Brila FM – where he will be hosting his show, “Rewind With Ozo” on Wednesday’s every week.

Sharing the good news with his fans, Ozo wrote; “I’m glad to announce that I am going to be starting my own radio show on Africa’s First and Nigeria’s Only Sports Radio station @Brilafm889!!!
