The #EndSARS protest keeps gaining momentum by the day as Muslim devotees observe their Jumaat Solat at the protest ground in Lagos and Abuja.
Over the past week, the Nigerian youths have been agitating against the oppression, brutality and killings by the SARS unit of the Nigerian Police Force.
The protest, which has taken different turns as some protesters have lost their lives in the fight, was banned in Abuja yesterday over COVID-19 regulation violation.
In a statement released on Thursday, October 15th, the committee stated that despite the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad by the Inspector-General of Police, the protests had continued, causing inconveniences to law-abiding citizens.
According to the committee, the #EndSARS protest endangers the lives of the demonstrators, as well as other residents of the capital territory, emphasizing that the protesters have failed to comply with COVID-19 guidelines.
The Abuja protestors however regrouped and went on the streets today with more energy to continue the fight.
Surprisingly, some Muslim faithfuls expressing their full support for the campaign collectively held their Jumaat prayers on the protest ground, with non-muslims holding placards behind them.
See photos and videos below,
So during the protest in Lekki toll gate, Protest was temporarily suspended for Our Muslim brothers to pray ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ And the Christian surrounded them to protect them ???❤️❤️❤️ I live this #EndSARS We Christian Love every Human Being. However, the #EndSARS protesters on getting to the ministry kept chanting shame in unison.
Recall that, the Federal Capital Territory Security Committee, has prohibited any form of #EndSARS protest in Abuja, over violation of COVID-19 rules.

With Coinbox.org, users can now generate passive income – just by keeping cryptocurrencies in a special wallet. This new feature offered by Coinbox.org is called staking. It can be a great way for hodlers to increase their cryptocurrency assets easily and effortlessly.
Staking networks use Proof of Stake as their consensus algorithm. To better understand what it’s all about, you need to get hold of this concept.
Both Proof of Work (PoW) and Proof of Stake (PoS) share the same goal, which is achieving consensus in the blockchain. But the processes that allow reaching this goal in these systems differ from one another.
Blocks on PoS blockchain platforms are “forged” rather than mined. Contrary to the way it works in PoW systems, PoS networks blockchains can develop and validate new blocks with no special hardware (for example, ASIC).
Thanks to Proof of Stake protocols, any user who is in possession of the minimum required balance (stake) of a specific cryptocurrency can confirm transactions and earn staking rewards. In PoS systems, those “guarding” the coins always own the coins, and the larger the amount of those coins, the bigger are the chances for a node to be selected as another validator.
However, blockchain developers who created the PoS algorithm quickly understood that the selection by the stake size only would result in centralization, which, obviously, would be highly undesirable. That’s why other selection methods (like coin age-based selection and randomized block selection) have been added.
ALGO is the official native cryptocurrency of the Algorand blockchain network. Logically, it’s based on the open PoS Algorand blockchain platform. Unlike most other public blockchains, this scalable platform boasts fast transaction processing time while sticking with the decentralization.
The advantages of Algorand Technology are the following:
Validators don’t risk to be slashed (slashing is an event where the validator gives up a defined amount of staked coins which are then redistributed to other stakeholders or burned).
It’s impossible for the minority and it makes no sense for the majority to cheat the system because it would devalue their holding
Annual Percentage Yield (APY) is the interest rate that reflects the total amount of interests, in this case, staking rewards, that are predicted to be earned in one year. Currently, it’s 6.12% for ALGO.
A Nigerian man, Samuel Adekojo shared photos of the suspension letter he got from his boss after joining #EndSARS protest.
Taking to his twitter handle, he posted the letter given to him by the Management of MBH Power Limited, where he works as an I.T Assistant.
It was stated in the letter that the management had set up several guidelines to prevent her staff from contracting COVID-19, which he might have contracted after joining the #EndSARS protest.
Hence, his suspension till further notice.
He wrote;
I tried not to put this up here. All I asked was that they send the staff a new letter stating when he will resume work or if they’d like him to self isolate…The idea of till further notice is not acceptable.
I already called the company and they seem not to reason with my view. For God sake, the young man went to #endsars protest for a good course on a day he considered to be his off day…
I can not see another youth being render jobless or unemployed at this time…
All I am asking for is a date to resume back to work!
The letter reads;
”I wish to officially inform you that Management has placed you on suspension from the Company from today Tuesday 13. October, 2020till further notice.
This is due to your participation in the ongoing #ENDSARSBRUTALITY# that has been going on now for some days all over the Country.
You will recall that Management has been doing its best to keep all employees safe since the beginning of COVID-19 Pandemic by asking us to work from home and when it is compulsory to come to work, official vehicle is being provided to avoid mingling with the general public.
Your involvement in the protest negate Management decision to keep us away from the public and for that reason, you have to be on suspension till further notice to avoid spreading the disease among staff.

Some fans opined that, it’s possible Ozo grew up in an environment that didn’t offer him the opportunity to learn his dialect.

In his words,
Wholesome message from Adeboye. This is what Nigerian youths need to hear. They need to know that their leaders, especially religious ones, have their back.
We don’t need him to join the protest. With this, Redeemers will be urged to join the peaceful protest.
From the beginning of this year, I have been so proud of him. I did have a bet with one of my friends that Pastor Adeboye will be the first to speak in support of the #EndSARS protest.
If there is anything I said about Pastor Adeboye in the past that might have been misconstrued as rude, please forgive us. We want our future to be bright. We don’t want to be derailed emotionally physically and spiritually.

Nigerian Beauty Vlogger, Ronke Raji has finally tendered an apology for her insensitive Instagram post during the #EndSARS campaign.
The mother of two was recently dragged for filth after sharing a photo with a bicycle and writing an epistle about bicycles and adding a footnote about the movement against police brutality, as an afterthought.
Ronke was ruthlessly dragged by social media users for giving little significance to a campaign of that magnitude. She also lost thousands of followers across her platforms in the process.
Taking to her Instagram account, she expressed her regret and apologized for her insensitivity while applauding people who have been at the frontline of the protest.
Her post reads,
As someone who is privileged to be given the platform that I have, my goal has always been simple, which is to spread positivity and bring mental health awareness to as many people as possible, while doing what I love the most.
However, if I’m being brutally honest, I haven’t been online as much as I would have loved to recently hence my response. I am aware that there has been a lot of anger towards me and the way I responded to this movement. For this reason, I want to sincerely apologize to everyone who has been on the receiving end of my recent actions.
I admit that the statement that was made on my initial post and YouTube clearly does not do any form of justice to the matter at hand and will never suffice as a show of support for the #ENDSARS movement and the on-going protests as a result of that.
I want to empathize firstly and most importantly to all those who have directly been impacted by SARS. To all those who have lost a sibling, a friend, a child, a parent, or a lover, I won’t lie and say I feel your pain, because I’m not in your shoes, but I do understand and I can only pray for healing and comfort for every one of you.
Also, to those who have been putting their lives on the line to protest, some of which have even lost their lives, I apologize for belittling the impact of what a dedicated set of people could achieve when united. I want you to know that I stand with you, though not physically, but in full support in whatever way I can.
The oppression in the country has gone on for too long and even though I don’t reside in it, I am still Nigerian. Therefore, I stand in solidarity with everyone both online and on the frontline, demanding justice and the total eradication of the SARS unit. If you would like to know more about #endsars and how you can support check out my stories.

Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey has unveiled special emoji for #EndSARS movement despite legal threat from former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba.
Jack revealed the special #EndSARS emoji, which is a fist with the colour of the Nigerian flag.
Recall that, the American technology entrepreneur, recently tweeted his support for the ongoing #EndSARS protest, against police brutality and extra judicial killings in Nigeria.
Shortly after his tweet, a former presidential candidate, Adamu Garba threatened to take legal actions against him.
The tweet reads,
Dear @jack It’ll do you a lot more good if you stay away from Nigerian Politics. You should know that the so-called #EndSARS protest have transformed into political agitation, capable of breaking law & order in our country. You should not be a moral & financial sponsor to this.
This is Nigeria, most of the demands initially presented was attended to by the responsible authorities. SARS no longer exist in this country. Your support for a disbanded entity was a needless interference. We cannot allow killings again in Nigeria in the name of protests.
I can see you are even sharing a link for people to donate money for this protest, an event capable of escalation beyond our already overstretched security management. If this protest continued to evolved into disorder (hopefully not). As a Nigerian citizen, we’ll meet in court.
However, regardless of the legal threat, the tech boss has now unveiled the #EndSARS emoji, and a lot of Nigerians have taken to the micro-blogging platform to appreciate his support.
Some men of the Nigerian army were on Thursday, seen on camera saving some motorists from police officers extorting them along Aba road.

A young Nigerian man has shocked many social media users with his reason for choosing to join the nationwide #EndSARS protests.
The protest which is gradually entering its second week, has been raging on as youths demand total reform of the Nigeria Police Force over cases of brutality, extortion, human rights violations and extra-judicial killings, especially by members of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
During the protests, an unidentified man caught the attention of other Nigerians, both online and offline as he revealed that SARS officials collected the money meant for his wedding.

This is coming after protesters were attacked physically by paid armed thugs in two states, across the country in order to disrupt the ongoing peaceful protest against police brutality.
Nkechi, however, warned against an attack that may come through food poisoning by the same set of perpetrators of the first attack through refreshments put in place to support the protesters.
“Dear youths ! Please this one this people are trying to spoil the protest by all means … Please lets verify and mind what we eat at the protest grounds! Because that might be another way to attack,” the actress noted on her Instagram.
The Governors across the federation have reached a consensus that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu must fish out the policemen who killed #EndSARS protesters.
The governors who took this action following the the ongoing nationwide protest, also accused the IGP of not consulting widely before dissolving the controversial police unit, SARS.
Recall that there has been a nationwide protest against police brutality and extra judicial killings by officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
In the statement, “Governors were unequivocal that all police officers who participated in the abuse or actions that might have led to injury or the death of innocent citizens must be fished out and brought to book”.
The communique signed by the NGF Chairman and Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi reads;
“Governors were unanimous in their support for the IGP and endorsed his plan to carry out far-reaching reforms geared towards greater effectiveness, accountability and transparency; Members called for increased regularity in the meetings of the Nigeria Police Council in order for it to effectively carry out its regulatory and supervisory roles as contained in the Nigerian Constitution.
“On the IGP’s plan to create SWAT, Governors stated that even though the effort might be necessary and in good faith, they argued that the timing is inauspicious as the mood of the nation negates it and may understandably be misinterpreted as a surreptitious move to dress FSARS in another garb.
“Governors agreed that there was need for greater consultation with the public before any decision is take. Governors advised the IGP to immediately convene a meeting of all stakeholders and agree on a format of engagement with all State officials in order to address concerns; and that State leadership should meet simultaneously nationwide, to address matters arising.
“Governors emphasized that reforms must include the training and retraining of operatives on the rules of engagement with the general public; Policing in Nigeria must ensure freedom for all Nigerians to carry out their lawful and legitimate businesses anywhere in the country without fear of harassment, intimidation or molestation.
“Governors advised that throughout the reform process, the room for consultation may include sessions and direct feedback from the public, stressing that there is no single solution that applies to all the 36 States of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
“Governors were unequivocal that all police officers who participated in the abuse or actions that might have led to injury or the death of innocent citizens must be fished out and brought to book while other Nigerians who have been adversely affected by police brutality or other actions that were injurious to them or their loved ones, should be compensated.
“Each State is to set up a panel for compensation to all victims and see to it that the necessary compensation is made to those who deserve them. This must be systematically done to ensure that nobody who deserves to be compensated, is left out
“The Forum directed its Secretariat to work with the police authority to develop a framework for setting up a panel of enquiry across all States to determine claims and compensation; Governors are aware that some States have already started engaging protesters and urged all States that have not commenced same to invite all stakeholders in the matter to resolve these issues
“Members also recommended that the IGP, the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Council should immediately review the Remuneration and Emoluments of police officers and explore ways to fund this in order to incentivize and motivate police officers who have pledged themselves in service of the country.
“Governors enjoined the IGP to be ready to forge stronger partnerships with State governments and the civil society to improve civil relations between the Nigerian Police and the Nigerian Public.”

The threat came after Dorsey tweeted his support for the protests holding in Nigeria to end SARS and police brutality. Following Garba’s threats, Dorsey tweeted again.
