The statement reads,
The Rivers State Government hereby wish to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the State.
Therefore, all proposed protests under #EndSARS Campaign are hereby prohibited.
Government took this decision because the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
Therefore, there is no need for any form of protest against a Unit of the Police Force that no longer exists.
Parents and Guardians are therefore advised to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has reacted to the disbandment of infamous Police Unit, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Osinbajo who spoke on Monday October 12, said they will make sure the replacement for SARS is acceptable by all stakeholders in the country.
He said;
“I think the most important thing is that SARS has been disbanded and that the IGP has also committed to ensuring that not only is it disbanded, but that whatever takes its place has the full participation of the civil society groups and all other stakeholders.
“A few minutes ago, the president also spoke about it, and spoke in particular that the disbandment of SARS is only the first stage in a full scale reform of the police force.
“I think everyone is now committed to seeing a police force and also a law enforcement that will meet the expectations of Nigerians. The purpose of law enforcement and the purpose of policing is for the safety of lives and livelihood of Nigerians. So, we are all committed. I don’t think it’s the exclusive preserve of anyone, we are all very committed.
“The president has also spoken about the prosecution of all law enforcement agents who must have committed wrongful acts. I think all these are commitment, but we must also understand that it’s a process; it is not an event. Reform is a process and we must all commit to it and must stay focused on those issues.
“I think the clear message is that there is a government commitment to ensuring that the process of reforms, those who have committed wrongful acts, are duly investigated and prosecuted. And that whatever replaces SARS is something that is acceptable, first of all compliance with all of the tenets of the rule of law, and human right rights.
“I think these are deep issues that we are all concerned about, I don’t think one person is more concerned than others. I have also been involved in many cases of many young people trying to resolve these kinds of conflicts that have been reported. I think it is a good moment for the police force and for all of us to try and reform the police. We are all committed to it.”
Popular Nigerian Comedian and Actor, AY Makun, has reacted to the blockade that happened at Lekki Toll-Gate as a result of EndSars protesters.
According to AY, the protesters action at Lekki was unnecessary.
He also opined that not all SARS officials are bad.
The post on his verified Facebook page reads ;
Lekki Toll gate. Blocked. My take.. This is not necessary. yes we doubt the genuine nature of the Sars disbanding, But we hear this morning the IG slated a meeting with David and a few concerned youths. Why not atleast wait and see the outcome. This road block is going to torture your fellow citizens going about thier daily business. We seem to forget not all Sars officials are bad same way corrupt officials also exist in other police depts. What we need is accountability and prosecution of the culprit officers.. Well
Nigerian-British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua has commended #EndSARS protesters, for their relentless effort in ensuring that police brutality is brought to an end.
The two-time unified heavyweight champion, took to his official Twitter account to commend the protesters for being patriotic, adding that he’s praying for his father land.
He tweeted,
“Well done to all the Nigerians who have been protesting against SARS – those who made donations to fund organisations lobbying against it – those who have recently been informed & took time to educate themselves. Those with power to make change. Praying for Nigeria.”
Recall that, Nigerians have continued the EndSARS protest in different parts of the country, despite the announced disbandment of SARS by the Inspector General of Police.
The new trend, #SARSMUSTEND has begin to gain momentum with protesters in various states carrying their placards and raising their voices to ensure there’s an end to extrajudicial killings, intimidation and harassment of citizens, by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
For close to a week now, Nigerian youths have stormed the streets in various states of the country to air their voices on the need for the Federal Government to dissolve infamous unit of the Nigerian police, SARS.
The hashtag, #EndSARS has gained global recognition as the world hears the voices of Nigerian youths who are tired of the nefarious activities of SARS which includes but is not limited to “Profiling, Extortion, Harassment, Killing, Assault“.
Celebrities like Falz, Runtown, Don Jazzy and others have been spotted at the protest grounds joining hands with Nigerian youths to speak up against Police brutality.
However, some Nigerians have been disappointed with some of their favourite celebs who were not active in the protests as they expected them to, one of whom is Afrofusion singer, Burna Boy.
While he’s known to always air his opinion on injustice and police brutality, Burna Boy was found wanting at the initial stages of the #EndSARS protests. He’s now however, pointed out that as at that time, he was dealing with some family issues.

Nigerian monarch, The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has praised Nigerian youths for finally waking up and speaking with one voice.
He said the End SARS movement gives him “nothing but joy” and he went on to narrate a “nasty” experience his “daughter” had with SARS officials.
He also addressed police officers, asking them not to harrass protesters because the protest is also for their own good.
He wrote:
The #ENDSARS movement has brought nothing but joy to me. Finally, the youths are awake, with one voice and a common goal.
I understand your plight, my 25 year old daughter had a nasty experience with SARS, almost losing her life. On her way to the airport, she was stopped and terribly ransacked and surrounded by fully armed plain clothes policemen in a bus, detained for close to 30mins of thorough questioning. Imagine a young female for that matter, all her belongings completely searched all because she was with a laptop on an official assignment from her office in lagos. I can only imagine the countless ones that have lost their lives from such ordeals, may their souls rest in peace.
I assure you that this is the beginning of greater things to come in Nigeria. I implore you to demand for more, but plead with you to do so in a peaceful manner, as anything outside of that will cause unnecessary havoc for all. I have been informed of many innocent souls that were arrested and currently been detained, be rest assured that I am pursuing the matter and they will be set free.
To the men and women of the Nigerian police force, be assured that this movement is also for you, we know you are humans also and your reality is as a result of your environment. This movement demands better on your behalf, and is aimed at pushing the government to do better for you and elevate your standard of living. Do not persecute your advocates. God bless Nigerian youths and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. #ENDPOLICEBRUTALITY
American rapper, Offset has taken to social media to reveal that he misplaced an earring during Cardi B’s birthday party.
Offset sharing photo of his bare earlobe, noted that he didn’t notice he had lost an earring till he woke the next morning.
He wrote, “6 karat gone ?didn’t even notice till I woke up this morning #shithurt”.
Mother of one, Cardi B, celebrated her 28th birthday over the weekend at a club in Las Vegas and her enstranged husband was there to celebrate her despite filing divorce.
The highlight of the event was when Cardi gave Offset a hot kiss, after he presented to her a new Royce rolls as her birthday gift.
Recall that the Cardi recently explained why she filed for divorce from Offset.
The ‘WAP’ rapper went live on her Instagram page and addressed her fans on the development which created quite a buzz when the news first broke.
The Mother of one said,
I’ve seen all the love and prayers that you guys have been sending me, however, I don’t really need it. I’m okay. I wanted to let y’all know I have not shed not one tear.
Every single time that this guy has been so crazy, so fucked up and it hits the media, I’m always crying, always sad because I don’t like that type of shit.
This time, I wasn’t crying. You want to know why? The reason for my divorce is not because of none of that shit that ever happened before. It’s not because of cheating. I’m seeing people be like, ‘Oh, he has a baby on the way.’ That’s a whole fucking complete lie. That’s the second time people are trying to pin babies over here. No, that’s bullshit.
I just got tired of f—ing arguing. I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye. When you feel like it’s just not the same anymore, before you actually get cheated on, I’d rather just leave.
Nothing crazy out of this world happened, sometimes people really do grow apart. I been with this man for four years. I have a kid with this man, I have a household with this man…sometimes you’re just tired of the arguments and the build up. You get tired sometimes and before something happens, you leave.

In an interview with Arise TV at the protest venue, she said;
“We are sick and tired of audio striking or whatever. We want to see it happen, 9 times they have rebranded them, but nothing has changed. The entire police force is messed up and they need to go in for proper mental evaluation.
And then you can restructure them, obviously not rebrand or renamed. We want to see it practically done. Listen, they are looking for where to deploy them to, I have a good suggestion, Sambisa needs people like them, they don’t belong to civil society”
Popular Nigerian actress, Chacha Eke has revealed that she can never leave her husband, and confirms that her marriage to movie director, Austin Fanni Ikechukwu, is still intact.
According to the actress, every drama that has surrounded her marriage these past days is as a result of bipolar disorder she’s suffering from.
Bipolar disorder is a mental condition marked by alternating periods of elation and depression.
Recall that, some days back, Chacha took to social media to share a video announcing the end of her marriage to Austin Faani. Chacha in a video shared on October 3, stated that she was done with her 7-year-old marriage and was leaving it with her life.
Fast forward to a few days later, she shared another video from a hospital bed denying allegations that her marriage ended due to domestic violence, adding that has been diagnosed to have “Bipolar disorder”.
Afterwards, her brother, Aik Eke stated that his sister doesn’t have bipolar disorder and he’s aware that there’s a cover up somewhere — he blamed Chacha’s husband for trying to clear his name at his wife’s expense.
Chacha has now released a new video on social media, claiming that she’s still with her husband, adding that she can never leave her husband, as she’s an advocate of love, marriage and family.
In the video she insisted that she had been diagnosed with dipolar disorder, and extensively recount how she had always suffered from bipolar episodes, whenever she was pregnant.
In her words,
“I heard myself saying crazy things, like I am leaving my husband. I am not leaving my husband, I will never leave my husband and my children and my home. My family, having a home, being Mrs. Faani and mother to the beautiful children God has given me is too much blessings to take for granted.
“And so, I say this to as many as are out there, I didn’t leave my home and I am not leaving”

In the video, the actress also gave her brother Aik Eke, stern waring, urging him to stop throwing fire where there’s none.
Controversial journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has persisted in calling the movement against police brutality, #EndSARS protest, a barbaric behavior.
Kemi who had earlier suggested that the Federal government of Nigeria should shut down social media to curb the trend of the #EndSARs protest once again called most youths criminals.
In a tweet, the controversial journalist stated that the youths should blame their parents for the injustice faced today and not the government.
She wrote, “The average criminal in Nigeria is a young person between 18-25. Internet fraud, Cultism, Armed robber, Terrorist insurgent, Banditry insurgent, Militant, Ritualist, Rapist.”
“Don’t blame the government. Blame your parents. Many parents were not happy about #endsars yesterday. #THS,” She added.
For close to a week now, Nigerian youths have stormed the streets in various states of the country to air their voices on the need for the Federal Government to dissolve infamous unit of the Nigerian police, SARS.
The hashtag, #EndSARS has gained global recognition as the world hears the voices of Nigerian youths who are tired of the nefarious activities of SARS which includes but is not limited to “Profiling, Extortion, Harassment, Killing, Assault”.
On Sunday, 11th of October, 2020, the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police announced the dissolvement of the infamous Police division and revealed that the officers that were in the unit will be deployed to a different department in the police force.
The dissolution of the unit however, is not total good news to Nigerian youths as as at the time of filing this report, major areas in the country are filled with youths protesting and demanding a reform of the Nigerian police force.
It’s in light of these protests that the alleged monthly and annual salary of different levels of the Nigerian Police force got discovered and this has caused people to wonder if this is where their frustration comes from.
It’s no doubt some of the infamous officers who harass Nigerian youths, do so out of jealously — and various videos online have shown some of these officers airing their contempt over the progress of a young Nigerian and leading to them profiling them a fraudster.
Here’s a list detailing the supposed salaries of different levels of the Nigerian Police Force,
Award winning Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido has stated that he didn’t join in the protest against SARS.

The IGP insisted that he joined the protest and ordered for all the cameras to be put aside.

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Abuja declared that disbanding of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is the first step to extensive police reforms by his administration.
Speaking at the launch of the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme (P-YES), aimed at creating 774,000 jobs across the Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the country, President Buhari also directed that all those responsible for misconduct or wrongful acts be brought to justice.
‘I will like to use this opportunity to say a word on the recent genuine concerns and agitations by Nigerians about the excessive use of force and in some cases extra-judicial killings and wrongful conduct of the men of the Nigerian Police Force,’’ President Buhari said during the launch of the P-YES programme, attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State and Engineer Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State.

”We will also ensure that all those responsible for misconduct or wrongful acts are brought to justice.
We deeply regret the loss of life of the young man in Oyo State during the recent demonstrations.
”I have directed that the circumstances of his death should be thoroughly investigated.
”Meanwhile, it is important to recognise that the vast majority of men and women of the police force are hardworking and diligent in performing their duties.
”The few bad eggs should not be allowed to tarnish the image and reputation of the force.”
”The P-YES is also part of the plan that we adopted in 2016 in which we empowered One hundred youths from each of the 774 Local Government Areas with the necessary tools to acquire skills and establish small businesses.
”Given the success of that initiative, we are now committed to creating 774,000 jobs across all the LGAs, through the P-YES programme,
”All the tools, machines and equipment that are exhibited here, are products of the efforts of these empowered youth entrepreneurs.
”I note with particular pleasure that they were all fabricated in Nigeria by Nigerian youths using locally sourced materials. This is a wonderful and uplifting achievement.
”As an entrepreneurship empowerment project, the P-YES programme aims to address the needs of unskilled and less educated youth.
”It targets key areas of activities that are of practical importance and are essential to every aspect of our economy.
”These include areas such as agriculture and food processing, restaurant and catering, tailoring and fashion design, technical skills such as in the Information and Communications Technology sector, artisanship, welding, carpentry and joinery, other small businesses and activities associated with the microeconomic sector of this economy,” he said.

A Nigerian lady has taken to micro-blogging platform, Twitter to lament over how possible suitors are being killed by SARS operatives.
She spoke in the wake of protests against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS across the country.
The lady identified as @kiishasignature, decried the incessant attacks on young men, in the form of extortion, arrest, illegal detention, and in some cases murder of innocent youths.
According to her, ladies are losing their men to death at the hands of SARS officers, while others are fleeing the country out of fear.
She added that SARS don’t want women to get married.
“A lot of Nigerian ladies are losing their Men and getting their hearts broken, because it’s either SARS kills their partners or their partners run out of the country to get a better life because of how terrible our economy is. They don’t want us to get married o. #EndSARS”, she wrote.
