President Muhammad Buhari has reacted to the news of the rape and gruesome murder of Uwaila Omozuwa, the 100-level student of the University of Benin.
In a tweet from the President’s verified account, Buhari implored the Nigerian police to ensure the perpetrators of the dastard act are brought to book.
His tweet reads ;

A Nigerian man Bulama Bakarti, has revealed that he got a former primary school teacher jailed after the man’s daughter wrote him a letter, begging him to save her from her father who rapes her.
Bakarti revealed that the girl’s mother died and the father remarried. However, he looked for every opportunity to send his new wife out of the house so that he could be left alone with his daughter.
He began raping his daughter from age 7 to age 14 when the girl opened up to a neighbour who then told her to write a letter and the letter was sent to Bakarti.
The human rights activist said the girl begged that she doesn’t want her father jailed. She said she only wants to be taken away from him and his new wife, who had started maltreating her after she discovered that her husband had an unholy interest in his daughter.
Bakarti wrote: “I contacted Hajiya Hussain the Kano State Chair of FIDA. She wasn’t in town so she linked me up with another Hajiya who kindly offered to help us and accommodate the victim. I reported to the Police Area Command at Bank Road Kano (former MTD), who immediately swung into action.”
The man was eventually jailed while the girl was placed in the custody of someone else.
Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele gave a troll on Twitter a piece of her mind when the troll said late Uwaila Omozuwa exposed herself which made her become a rape victim.
The lady identified as @Mimi_Banks on the social networking platform went on to advise ladies to offer guys sex instead of allowing themselves to be raped.
She tweeted,

Funke Akindele, appalled by the tweet, reacted to it before proceeding to block her. The actress wrote,

Surprisingly, the Twitter user still stood her ground and fired back at the actress, saying,

In a new shocking development following the death of Uwa Omozuwa who was raped and murdered after, last week, sister to the deceased has in a new interview revealed the shocking demand the police requested from her family before they can bring justice for Uwa’s death.
Uwa’s sister is seen in a new video talking to pressmen and revealing to them the ordeal her family faced when they went to lodge a complaint over her sister’s death. According to her, the policemen said Uwa’s father didn’t visit the police station when in actual fact, he consistently paid them a visit so they can investigate the death of his daughter.
She aired her disappointment with the Nigerian police after revealing that the policemen said “her sister is not the first to be raped” and as such, they shouldn’t bother the police. She went on to reveal how they asked for “mobility money” to carry out the investigation of Uwa’s death.
As seen in the video currently serving rounds, Uwa’s sister made these allegations to pressmen in the presence of other police officers which certainly means she wouldn’t lie of such things.
Her statements has since angered a lot of Nigerians who are displeased with the corruption that seems to be ever growing in the Nigerian police force.

An elderly man was caught molesting a lady inside a bus in wake of the UNIBEN female student, Uwa Omozuwa who was raped and murdered inside a church.
A Twitter user, @DanielFaithArts, who shared the video online revealed that the lady, who is his sister was molested all the way from Abuja to Akure by a male passenger who sat behind her inside a bus.
As can be seen in the video, the molester visibly touches the lady’s thigh severely as they traveled together on Monday.
@DanielFaithArts said his sister was forced to video the occurrence after she first raised an alarm about it and was told by other passengers that she was overreacting.
He also claimed that the lady tried reporting the incident to a soldier on the road, but was allegedly told to keep quiet or be detained after the alleged molester spoke to the officer in Hausa.
Well known baker, whose prominence dwells in Delta State, Achiki Okoacha, has been reported dead after she was involved in a fatal auto crash along Agbor road.
According to reports surrounding her demise, Achiki who was in the company of her friend, Jenny, was returning from Asaba where she had gone to deliver a cake.

Samantha Katie James, the former Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 has sparked outrage on social media for criticizing the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests in the US over the death of African American, George Floyd.
25-year-old, Samantha had taken to her Instagram Stories to call protesters, who are speaking up against police brutality towards African Americans and racism “foolish humans.”
The model and actress declared that the reactions shown by protesters were apparently proof that the “whites won.”
“I don’t live in America and it has nothing to do with me, but to me, it seems like the ‘whites’ won. If you’re angry, you response in rage and anguish and that means it has power over you. They have power over you. Foolish humans. (sic)”
Addressing black people, she wrote,
“To the black people: Relax, take it as a challenge, makes you stronger. You chose to be born as a ‘coloured’ person in America for a reason. To learn a certain lesson. Accept it as it is, till now hunger and poverty still exists. It is what it is. It’s inevitable. Best you can do is remain calm, protect heart, don’t allow it to crumble. That’s your responsibility. “
The Miss Universe Malaysia Ogranisation also released a statement to distance themselves from Samantha’s views on the ongoing protests.
Part of their statement reads,
“Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation (MUMO) notes with dismay the recent social media posts made by Samantha Kate James, a past winner of Miss Universe Malaysia. We also note that these posts are inappropriate, offensive, unacceptable and hurtful.”
More than 15,000 people have so far signed a petition on Change.org for James’ crown to be revoked by Miss Universe Malaysia in light of her comments.
The petition against James claimed that she was unfit to represent Malaysia and seeks to compel the pageant runners to strip the latter of her crown and title.
“Her ignorance and lack of self and privilege awareness do not reflect the Miss Universe Malaysia title and with this petition, we hope she will be stripped of her title,” read the petition.
Nigerian Reggae legend, Majekodunmi Fasheke, better known as Majek Fashek died in the city of New York on the 1st of June, 2020.
In new reports following his demise, it’s now been revealed that the singer lost his life after battling with cancer for almost a year — this is according to Vanguard.
The news of Majek’s death was announced by artiste manager, Joy Tongo. Majek Fashek’s manager, Uzoma Day Omenka then confirmed the news on the singer’s Instagram page on Tuesday morning. According to him, he died at 11.45 pm June 1, 2020, Nigerian time.
He also confirmed the singer died in New York, not in London where he was previously receiving treatment. Uzoma stated that the doctors advised he should be moved close to his family, which influenced his being moved to New York where his wife and three sons live.
He said Majek was separated from his family for 10 years until last year September when they were reunited on the advice of his doctors that he should be close to his family.
“We moved him from London to New York last September on the advice of the doctors that he should stay close to the family. Majek reunited with his family last year after 10 years of separation. He died in their company, ” Uzoma said.
Details of his funeral arrangement will be made available in due time.

The Edo State Police Command has arrested one of the suspects linked to the rape and murder of Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa.
Recall it was reported that the 22-year-old 100-level student of the University of Benin, Edo State was raped and killed by unknown persons while reading in RCCG church in Benin city.
Confirming the arrest, Spokesman of Edo Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor told newsmen that the suspect was arrested after the fingerprint on the fire extinguisher she was attacked with was examined.
Nwabuzor revealed that operatives of the command arrested the suspect after the Area Commander of Ikpoba Hill mobilized his men to take action.
“The item used in the assault, which was a fire extinguisher, was recovered, immediately the operatives who were with some specialists screened the finger prints which led to our suspect.
“Around the place of the incident, the suspect was arrested,” Nwabuzor said.
The death of Uwa has raised concerns and stirred reactions from notable figures, as well as Nigerians on the social media.
The Inspector general of Police, IGP Adamu disclosed that investigative aids have been deployed to Edo to help speed up the investigations.

Nigerian music legend, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek, has died.
The reggae king’s death was confirmed by his manager Omenka Uzoma, via his social media page.

A Nigerian man who claims to be the ex-boyfriend of the new spouse of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs, Hameed Alli, Zainab Abdullahi Yahaya, has filed a lawsuit against Zainab in which he demands a refund of all the money he claims to have spent on her while they were dating.
Hameed and Zainab had a low key wedding in Kano this past weekend. According to the court papers that’s begun to make the rounds on social media, the man identified as Zubairu Malhamatu Malamai, accused Zainab of lying to him while they were allegedly dating for three years.
According to Zubairu, he invested over N9 million on Zainab who promised to get married to him but ended up with somebody else.
Zubairu’s lawyer, Sir Isa Wangida, who authenticated the letter alleged that Zubairu has been picked up by the SSS. He confirmed that the document came from his chambers but insisted he has no idea how it was leaked to the public.

Father of 22-year-old UNIBEN student, Uwa Omozuwa, who was raped and murdered at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ikpoba Hill, Edo state has spoken for the first time since the tragic incident occurred.
Uwadia, a 100 level student of the department of Microbiology, went to read inside the church on Wednesday, May 27 and was raped and murdered by yet to be identified persons.
In an interview with TVC news, Mr. Omozuwa said he was shocked when he saw the injuries on his daughter’s body.
When I saw the injury, I shed tears as a father. I never knew the injury was much” he said
According to Mr Omozuwa, he has always been a traditionalist but was only recently, converted to the Christian faith by his daughter who persistently asked him to give his life to Christ. He says he will be going back to his former religion.
The sister of the deceased who also spoke, demanded justice for her late sister. She said bite marks were all over Uwadia’s body when they saw her.
“When we saw her, it was not good at all, bite marks all over her body. When we saw her, her body, her hand, her mouth had bruises. When we saw her in that condition, we rushed her to one hospital, they couldn’t handle it. Then we took her to UBTH. That is where she gave up last night.” she said
The Pastor of the church paid the family a condolence visit and was almost attacked. The timely intervention of the police saved him.
Late Uwadia, her mother and sister have been attending the church for over 15 years and she was said to be a Chorister.

According to the lady, her brother’s wife locks him up in the house, takes possession of his phones and sometimes uses a belt on him.
Her tweet reads ;
Hi people,someone dear to me is in an abusive marriage, his wife locks him up in the house, takes possession of his phones and sometimes uses a belt on him, his wife is pregnant but its becoming alarming. What do i do?
Shes abusing him,using her pregnancy as leverage, kicking him in the head, beating him with belts and biting him
He said he will continue to rape and “nothing” will happen, adding that women should avoid wearing too many underwear because it’s time wasting.
He wrote:
“I go they rape dey go. Nothing go happen. Ladies make una help us small. No they wear pant come wear right on top. E dey waste person time abeg. Thank you.”
His comment got the attention of actress, Uche Ogbodo and she slammed him on Instagram. Other actresses like Mary Remmy Njoku, Victoria Inyama, and Yvonne Jegede also reacted.
Yvonne Jegede promised action will be taken to get him arrested.
