Virtuous women don’t allow maids cook for their husbands – Anglican Priest says

An Anglican cleric has spoken out against women who allow their maids to cook for their husbands.

Rev. Azubuike Mgbikeh, while speaking on Mothers’ Day, March 22, 2020, frowned at women who delegate their responsibilities to their maids.

The priest said one of the qualities of the virtuous woman in the Bible was her ability to cater to the welfare of the family, including preparing food for the husband and children.

IN his words ;

“It’s unfortunate that many women don’t know how to cook. That’s why they will start campaigning for househelps as soon as they get married. Don’t allow househelps to cook for your husbands.

“A virtuous woman will not do that. If the househelp must prepare any meals, not soup and stew.”

Germany bans gatherings of more than two people to stop the spread of coronavirus

Germany bans

The German government has barred public gatherings of more than two people, except for families, to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking after meeting the leaders of Germany’s regions on Sunday afternoon, Chancellor Angela Merkel made it clear that the new restrictions are not desirable but necessary. “None of us wished that we would ever have to face the people with such rules,” she said.

Merkel who also revealed that she was going into isolation because her doctor had tested positive for the coronavirus warned of consequences if people violate the new measures, but did not specify what that would entail. “These are not recommendations, but rules,” she said.

The new regulation says: “Spending time in public space is only permitted on your own, with another person who does not live in the household or with members of your own household.” When in public, people should stand at least 1.5 meters apart, Merkel said.

The rule will be in place for at least two weeks.

In Germany, the number of confirmed cases had risen to more than 23,900 by Sunday, with more than 90 deaths.

Kwara government directs civil servants to work from home over coronavirus

Kwara government directs

The Kwara State Government has directed all civil servants to work from home following the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

In a statement released by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, all civil servants apart from the Ministry of Health and essential workers, are to work from home beginning on Monday, March 23 until further notice.

The Kwara State Governor who ordered the closure of all public and private nurseries, primary, secondary and state-owned Tertiary institutions, also placed a ban on public gatherings of more than 25 people.

Governor Abdulrazaq revealed plans of building additional and well-equipped 12-bed intensive care unit at the General Hospital, Ilorin. It was further gathered that a “COVID-19 Technical Committee” comprising of healthcare professionals and officials whose primary responsibility is to assist our administration in combating COVID-19 in Kwara State, have been constituted. The committee is headed by the Deputy Governor of the state.

The statement reads in parts;

As individuals, we are all responsible for the general well-being of fellow Kwarans and should work together to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by:

1) washing our hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds as much as possible daily;

2)avoiding touching our eyes, mouths, and noses;

3) covering our mouths and noses with our bent elbow or tissue when we cough or sneeze;

4) staying more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick and coughing, and wearing a mask if you are ill (especially if coughing) or looking after someone who is ill and coughing;

5) abstaining from handshaking until the threat of this COVID-19 is zero; and

6) avoiding crowded area and minimising any gathering to a maximum of 25.

As a community, we must do everything possible to prevent any transmission of COVID-19 by embracing the concept of social distancing and self-isolation. These measures are to prevent anyone that may be infected with COVID-19 from spreading the disease to others.

An exponential spread of COVID-19 in our community might be catastrophic because we could have thousands of our citizens sick at the same time.

Given the aforementioned and the global health emergency situation, our administration has taken the following difficult but important decisions to protect Kwarans:

1) Closure of all public and private nurseries, primary, secondary and state-owned Tertiary institutions.

2) Aside from Ministry of health and essential workers, all civil servants are to work from home.

3) All gatherings of more than 25 people are hereby discouraged until further notice.

Abule-Ado explosion victim narrates how he escaped death

A 38-year-old Nigerian man identified as Idorenyin Edet has narrated how he escaped death following the recent explosion that rocked Abule-Ado community in Lagos.

Read the interview with PUNCHNG.com’s Alexander Okere.

How were you affected by the explosion?

I was at home on that day dressing up for a church service when I perceived the odour of a petroleum product. I ran to the sitting room and when I got there, it looked like fuel had been spilled there. When I went outside, I saw that the environment had been taken over by fumes. I had to call my wife to come outside. But she ran back inside to pick up her phone.

As she was coming outside, there was an explosion. The explosion flung me to the ground by some distance. It blew off everything I had on. I saw myself naked; the only thing I saw were my shoes, boxers, and singlet.

How much impact did it have on your apartment?

My building went down completely. When I stood up, I started vomiting blood. Blood also oozed from my ears. That was the only thing I could remember. I don’t even know how I got to hospital.

How close was your building to the point where the explosion occurred?

My building is close to that of the man who died with his wife. He was my neighbour.

What happened to your wife?

I have not set my eyes on my wife. I was told she was taken to a place in Festac Town but was rejected. I was later told that she was taken to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi. I am worried about her.

Have you spoken to her lately?

I only spoke to her the day the incident occurred.

Have you experienced that kind of incident before?

No. I have not experienced it before.

How would you describe the one that happened last Sunday?

People have been saying it was a bomb explosion. But if it was, it would have exploded at once. But in this case, the fumes were there for about five minutes to the extent that I could not perceive fresh air; and before I knew what happened, the explosion took place.

I’ve told my parent to choose how they wish to die over coronavirus in Nigeria – Gay rights activist Bisi Alimi

Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi has disclosed that he told his parents to choose how they wish to die following the outbreak of coronavirus in Nigeria.

Bisi Alimi who disclosed that many Nigerians think coronavirus is a fluke, said he called his parents last night and told them to choose how they wish to die; alone in isolation or with their children around them.

His facebook post reads ;

Last night I called my parents and say something a child shouldn’t say, I told them they can choose how they wish to die; alone in isolation or with their children around them.

I know this is not really a nice thing to say, but I have to say it cos we live in extraordinary time.

When I called, my dad was out and I was upset. He is over 80 and my mum 70.

He fought in the war. He is a restless being like my husband and I knew staying indoor will hard for him.

I do mean really hard for him.

When he got back I called again and told them of the situation in Europe and that was when it became clear to me that social media is a bubble, there are many Nigerians (majority) who still think this is a fluke though they are equally scared.

I told my parents that for once life is giving them a choice on how they wish to die (this will seem extreme but it is not)

If they refused to stay at home and catch the virus, considering their age and vulnerability, they are unlike to survive it, but that’s not the deal, the deal is, they will die in isolation with no one to wish them goodbye.

However if they stay in and don’t allow visitors, they have a choice that when death comes, they will have their children by their side to bid them good bye.

This message applies to everyone, most especially my Nigerian friends, I know it is hard and it is going to be challenging but please STAY AT HOME!

“I’ve Not Retired From Comedy” – Julius Agwu Says

Julius Agwu Says

Nigerian multi-talented entertainer, Julius Agwu, has said that the entertainment industry is now a safe haven for many Nigerian graduates who do not want to get involved in fraudulent activities.

The 46-year-old multi-talented entertainer also maintained that the comedy industry is not congested but comedians only need to re-strategise.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, Agwu said, “When I look around, I’m excited about what is happening in the industry, because many graduates are now into entertainment.

“I thank God for Instagram because everybody now has the privilege to make money for themselves so far they are not stealing or doing any fraudulent activity to earn a living.

“I also don’t think the comedy industry is congested. If it is congested, then people should stop laughing.

“Comedians will always be there but after sometime, people may feel that the comedian should go back and re-strategise because he or she is no longer funny.”

Speaking about his career since his recovery from a brain tumour, the comedian said that he has not retired but is taking time to rest.

He said, “I have not retired from comedy; I’m only taking my time and I would come back. I have been resting after my sickness. I may mark my 25 years on stage this year.

“Many people will be proud of it. Health-wise, I’m good. Many people have been telling me that I look good too.”

Agwu also noted that life has taught him some salient lessons. He added, “I have learnt a lot about life. I wouldn’t want to say some things but the fact is that I have grown. Life has taught me that it is important to strategise. The truth is one doesn’t win all the time and at some point, one has to settle down and watch certain things unfold.

“But in all, one unforgettable lesson is that one needs to hold God tight and not despise Him. I also learnt the value of friendship but I don’t want to say more than that.”

No Lady Could Resist Me As A Young Man – 96 Year Old Retired Headmaster Speaks

A 96-year-old retired headmaster

A 96-year-old retired headmaster has explained that in his days as a young man, no woman could resist his charms.

Samuel Adejuwon, a retired headmaster based in Akure, Ondo State, tells PETER DADA about his life, career, family and other issues

You’re said to be 96 years old, how did you know your age?

I can remember that my father took me to Ikere Ekiti from my hometown, Ido-Ajinare, at a tender age, to be living with a relation (woman) so that I could start my elementary school at Saint John’s Primary School. That was in the 1930s.

I started school at that time and I was already grown a bit. That was how we could deduce that I must be 96 at least now. I could remember that I wept for almost a week when I got there. I started Class I because I was a little bit mature. I got to Class II there. After taking an examination, I did Standard I and II but had to continue Standard III in Okemesi Ekiti at Saint Michael’s Primary School with a group of pupils from Ido-Ajinare. We would leave on Sunday evening and come back on Friday evening. I went further to Ijero Ekiti for Standard V and Standard VI. After Standard VI, I started teaching at the same Saint Michael’s Primary School. I taught for four years before I proceeded to Saint John’s Teachers’ College, Owo.

After my training as a teacher in Owo, I started working as a trained teacher. I later became a head teacher at Saint Michael’s Primary School, Ilara-Mokin. As a trained teacher, I was full of pride and people respected me a lot in the community. Ladies always flocked around me.

You look younger than the age you have described, what is the secret?

God is the secret of my longevity.

Did you pick your wife among those ladies that flocked around you in those days?

There, I had two female teachers working with me. One of them was from Ipogun; she was dark and fat, and the other one was fair and slender, but walked sluggishly. When thinking having a wife, I had to consider the one from Ipogun.

When did you get married to her?

We got married in January 1955.

How did you woo her?

I was the head teacher then which made me a popular person. Being a teacher then gave one a great chance. Besides, I was living in her father’s house before I wooed her, so it made it easier for me. However, it suddenly dawned on me when I took her home for introduction that like me, she came from a village and I started wondering how the marriage would work. Despite that, I still married her and she loved me.

How did she react when you proposed to her?

Why would she say no? Me, a neat and well dressed teacher! If you saw my dressing then, no lady would see me and not admire me. It was an express agreement.

When you got married, did she live with you or in her hometown, considering how you were moving from town to town as a teacher?

She was with me of course, going with me wherever I went.

You said you were a good-looking teacher, how did you cope with advances from ladies?

I did not look at them. I am a disciplined person and I believed it would lower my prestige as a trained teacher if I became a philanderer. I was known for good principles. Some women didn’t like to be posted to my school. They would say that I did not have special treatment for ladies. And that was true. If you were a pregnant teacher and you came late, I would warn you and tell you that I would not take any action because of your condition. Six months after delivery, such a woman must brace herself or leave. I didn’t accept any nonsense.

How would you compare working with government in the days you were young with the situation now?

Government work was good then. There is nothing good in it now. That’s my view because I believe so much in hard work.

Where did you work as a trained teacher?

I worked at Ido-Ani and Owo. I spent a long time in Owo.

How did you manage to achieve a good balance between your domestic responsibilities and working hard at work?

I’m a man. It is women that cater for children.

But your wife was also a teacher, how did you work out the schedule?

As I said earlier, I warned pregnant and nursing teachers against coming to school late. So, I also warned her against coming late. Though at home, I pitied her a lot because she would go to school and come back with me and then go straight to the kitchen when we got home, while I would be in the sitting room, sometimes dozing off, but she would send for me when the food was ready.

Idris Elba’s wife test positive for coronavirus

Idris Elba’s wife Sabrina Elba has confirmed that she has tested positive for coronavirus. Last week, Luther actor Idris announced that he had been diagnosed with Covid-19 despite showing no symptoms.

He had been exposed to the disease while attending an event with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie, who has also contracted the virus.

Days after being tested, Sabrina has confirmed that she also has coronavirus. Speaking to Oprah during a live stream for her new Apple TV+ series Oprah Talks, Sabrina said:

‘Actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive. ‘I’m not surprised, as soon as I heard that Idris was potentially exposed. I was on my way anyway and I wanted to be with him, I think that’s an instinct as a wife you just want to go and take care.

‘We didn’t change the way we interacted, I could have made a decision to put myself in a separate room or maybe stay away and I’m sure people are making those decisions, they’re tough decisions to make. But I made the decision to want to be with him and still touch him.’

Idris added: ‘On the day of the exposure, we were together at home and had been together right until I had departed to fly so at any point then, and prior to us knowing, if I’d caught it, she’d certainly have caught it in that time period as well.’

The 47-year-old actor then explained how he finds it ‘worrying’ that some people like himself are not showing symptoms of the virus.

Sabrina revealed she also feels healthy, stating: ‘I don’t feel anything that would come to what people would now expect to be a symptom of coronavirus, which is really strange. ”She is beautiful and I was scared of someone else enjoying her” – Man who impregnated 15-year-old daughter

A 48-year-old man identified as Theddius Audu reportedly impregnated his 15-year-old daughter Justina in Wuyeya, a village under Assakio, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Audu, a farmer and petty trader, took up the sole responsibility of his daughter’s upbringing after his marriage to Talatu Ayi from Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state ended 13 years ago due to irreconcilable differences.

According to The Nation, his younger sister who helped out in raising the little girl, died in a tragic accident in January 2019 on her way back from Lafia market. Audu decided to relocate to a three-bedroom apartment he had managed to build in the village after the incident, so his daughter could live comfortably in safety and without any fear. The decision resulted in a pregnancy as Justina is 4 months gone already.

Recounting how the sad incident occurred, Justina said;

“God has inflicted a permanent wound on me; there is absolutely no point keeping me alive. I think I should just commit suicide and die, rather than continue living to bear this shameful burden. God has not been fair to me and I don’t know my sin or offence. My mother left me when I was barely two years old; and up till now, hasn’t taken as much as a second look back. My late aunty Agnes, who brought me up died, recently and now I’m pregnant for my father. What could be worse than that,” she asked bursting into tears.

“When my aunty died in an accident, my father moved me into his three bedroom apartment to occupy one of the rooms. He used to check my private part to see if I had started menstruating or having sex with boys. One night, I was sleeping after a hectic day; he came into my room, removed my wrapper and inserted his finger in to my private part, asking if I had started menstruating. I woke up suddenly from sleep and asked, “Daddy why are you doing this to me?”

“He asked if I had had sex before and I said no. He then said he would use his penis to test my virginity. Before I could utter any word, he had climbed on top of me. I wanted to scream, but he held my mouth and penetrated into me. I struggled to wriggle free but he over-powered me and forcefully deflowered me. I bled throughout that night, crying uncontrollably till the following day. I was also in pains throughout.

“I felt very bad but he warned me that nobody must hear of what he did to me. He also threatened to slaughter me with a knife if he heard it from anybody. That was how he kept sleeping with me at night and eventually got me pregnant.

“How I wish my mother were around; this shameful thing would not have happened to me. It is incredible; my world and life has crumbled. How can I have a child for my father?

“The days that followed my Aunt’s death were both utterly full and completely empty; full of activities, yet empty of life because there was nobody to take care of me and guide me properly.

“Her absence gave my father the opportunity to ruin my life. I feel very ashamed that I’m pregnant without getting married and more ashamed that my own biological father is responsible. Now I think about death frequently because my father decided that I should leave the pregnancy and deliver a male child for him.”

She said her father has even threatened to kill her if she tried aborting the pregnancy. “So I don’t have any choice but to allow it grow; meanwhile, the pregnancy is just four months.”

The father, Audu said he always felt pain of someone “toasting” his beautiful daughter and enjoying, after he went through difficulties to raise her.

He said;

“She looks beautiful and I always feel the pains that one day, someone else will toast her and start enjoying what I suffered all these years to raise. When her mother left me, I took the pains to bring her up because I could not get married and was alone.

“It started like a joke. I don’t know what came over me; she tried to resist me but I was very harsh on her and she allowed me have my way. Thereafter, we continued unabated. I actually wanted to test her virginity status, to know whether she had started going out with boys but when she told me she missed her period, I decided that she should not abort it.

“She should deliver the baby for me since I don’t have any other child. Thereafter, she can get married to anybody of her choice. This was the secret arrangement we had and I don’t know why she is exposing it now.

“That is the much I can say about it.”

Edewor welcomed her daughter over three years ago but said she chose to share her pregnancy photos to mark the special day.

Sharing the photos, she wrote ;

I never posted this image. A lot of you joke with me that I had a surrogate because I never revealed images of my pregnancy. Well here’s me at 9 months October 2016. A week before I gave birth, I really enjoyed the journey of pregnancy; I was lucky because I know a lot of women can have drastic complications, but apart from the usual issues, through the various trimesters, like tiredness, nausea and reflux in the first and back pain in the third! It was pretty relaxed for me; and it was a beautiful summer to fall that year in London. I really felt in bloom. Three and a bit years later, each year has revealed another stage of my daughters life that I become attached to, no matter how challenging (terrible twosss tooo threesss ) I know I’ll miss each one, because once gone I can only reminisce and smile. Happy Mother’s Day to all Mothers who decide to nurture and grow our young! #firsttimemom #mothersday
