Sarkodie publicly apologizes to Yemi Alade, 3 years after they fell out

Sarkodie publicly apologizes

Ghanaian rapper and singer, Sarkodie has finally apologized to Nigerian music star Yemi Alade, 3 years after they fell out.

Recall that Yemi Alade called out the Ghanaian superstar rapper for being unprofessional after he failed to show up for the music video of a song they collaborated on in 2017. In an interview with Starr Chat at that time, the Nigerian singer said;

“I’ve really tried my best to really not go into details but the long and short on why I don’t want to dwell on this is that is super unfair, unprofessional and unkind for international acts or even artistes to have a dealing with anybody and after agreeing to certain things, you don’t come through at all.

“I can count three different countries and three different venues where my team and I had an agreement with the artiste (Sarkodie) in particular and he didn’t come through.

“I don’t want to bring in the feminine and masculine inequality we’re experiencing in the industry and I don’t want to link it to that. I was pained as a person but I’ll say it is almost impossible to promote a project that is supposed to be for two people when the other party isn’t coming through at all, the music pretty much suffers.”

On Thursday February 6, Sarkodie however initiated the move to bury the hatchet after he publicly stated that he is sorry and also asked his fans to beg Yemi Alade to follow him on Twitter.

He wrote;

Ou just realized queen unfollowed me… SarkNation tell my sis to follow me back n I’m sorry. No need for no explanations it’s 2020 Link up, always proud of you

Yemi Alade acknowledged Sarkodie’s apology by sharing a tweet that came with emojis. See the tweet below;

Couple fake engagement to get free drinks from strangers in bars (Video)

Couple fake engagement

An American couple faked a proposal just one month into their relationship to get free drinks from strangers in two bars.

The pair, Adam Carroll and Corinne Miller from Prattville, Alabama, went on vacation to Atlanta to celebrate Corinne’s birthday last July. While on vacation, they didn’t want to spend much money, so they came up with a plan.

They decided to fake a marriage proposal in a bar full of revelers who would want to celebrate the moment with them.

Carroll got down on one knee and pretended to ask for Corinne’s hand in marriage. Other customers were so excited about witnessing the special moment they started giving the couple free shots.

The plan worked so perfectly well that they took to the celebration to another bar and got “engaged” again and were treated to more drinks to toast their ‘engagement’.

Six months later after they faked their engagement, Adam, 28, popped the question again and this time it was real. He reportedly got down on one knee in front of all their family and friends at his birthday party and asked Corinne to marry him.

She said yes for a second time, and the 29-year-old photographer said: “We both have the exact same humour- that’s one of the main components of our relationship.

“People started buying us shots and congratulating us – it was hilarious and definitely a great way to get free drinks.

“It has definitely been a whirlwind romance. We were best friends for eight years before we were a couple and that trip to Atlanta was actually one of the first trips we had been on together.

“I’m happy we did it – it definitely saved us some cash so Adam could get me a real engagement ring!”

Iyanya Arraigned

The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) Ikoyi, Lagos, has charged popular Nigerian singer Iyanya, for alleged car theft.

According to The Nation, Iyanya was arraigned for the offence on February 4, 2020 before Justice Mobolanle Okikiolu-Ighile of an Igbosere High Court, Lagos.

The police filed the one-count charge marked LD/9024c/2019, against the singer on March 15, 2019.

Iyanya failed to appear in court for arraignment, despite allegedly being served with the charge and hearing notice, following which the arraignment was adjourned six times.

At the last adjournment, Justice Okikiolu-Ighile threatened to invoke the power of the court to ensure Iyanya’s attendance to take his plea.

The ‘Kurukere’ singer appeared before the judge on February 4, 2020, following which the charge was read to him.

Prosecution counsel, Mr. Chukwu Agwu, a Superintendent of Police (SP), alleged that Iyanya committed the offence sometimes in September 2018.

The court heard that the defendant allegedly dishonestly converted to his use or of another person, a Black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) marked MAVINIY, with Chassis and Engine numbers JTEBX7FJ7EK165480 and 2TR1385954.

Agwu told the court that said vehicle belongs to ‘The Temple Management Company Ltd, represented by a lawyer, Ayodeji Olomojobi.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, was contrary to Sections 278(1) (b), 279(1)(2) and punishable under Section 285(10) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Iyanya pleaded not guilty.

Agwu prayed the court to remand the defendant in the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) custody, pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.

But Iyanya’s counsel, Mr Williams A., opposed him. He prayed the court to release the musician to him and undertook to produce him in court on the next adjournment.

Justice Okikiolu-Ighile granted the defence counsel’s prayer and released him to his counsel. She adjourned till February 27 and March 17, for ruling on Iyanya’s bail application and commencement of trial.

Di’Ja slams Lagos state Government for seizing & damaging Okada and Keke in the state

Di’ja a few days ago reacted to the Okada and Kekenapep ban calling for the regulation and not the eradication of the means of transport.

“I understand Okada can be a nuisance but it also came into existence (as is) due to the traffic situation of Lagos. I don’t think one month was enough grace period for such a change.

We should focus on regulating PROPERLY and CONSISTENTLY not banning completely. People don’t depend on the government, they depend on themselves. There are so many pros and cons to all of this. Can we talk about it though?

However, with the recent cases of violence recorded, Di’ja reacted again by taking to her Twitter page to slam the Lagos State governor, for seizing and damaging bikes in the state.

According to her, the riders are desperate and trying to earn money to feed their families.

She also expressed sadness in the acts of racism and tribalism that citizens have been exhibiting in the past few days.

Man narrates how Lagos residents embarrassed policemen who wanted to impound his power bike

A Nigerian man took to Facebook to narrate how some Lagos residents corrected some policemen including senior officers who wanted to impound his power bike while on his way to work.

According to Nmutaka Chikwendu, the team of 4 senior officers with guns could not say anything meaningful beyond “they sent us signal to arrest all bikes”.

The policemen reportedly refused reading the broadcast sent out by the Lagos state police command after a Good Samaritan came to his aid. It was also learnt that the policemen refused speaking to their superiors when the numbers in the broadcast were called.

The Facebook user wrote;

So…..I was heading to work this morning dodging massive potholes and meandering through heavy traffic. The Nigerian Police decided to arrest me because “bikes are banned”. The 2 things that stood out for me the most were:
1. The speed with which a huge crowd built up. Within a short while people were yelling at the cops. “Is this one okada”?
2. How unintelligent our cops are. A team of 4 senior officers with guns could not say anything meaningful beyond “they sent us signal to arrest all bikes”

A good Samaritan parked his car…showed them the broadcast sent by Lagos state police command. They refused to read it. He then called the numbers in the broadcast and the policemen refused to speak with their superiors. The man put his phone on speaker and we could all hear the police command asking if it was okada and the whole crowed roared “No!” Our street crew cops refused to budge. The Samaritan eventually called their DPO who asked them to release me….then they started looking for one Officer Ojo of Ifako police station who took my bike key and went away.

Crowd kept building…..policemen became scared. Tried to disperse crowd. People refused to budge. I actually started getting worried and started asking people to leave. They said they wouldn’t move until I was released. Eventually the Ojo fellow sauntered out with my key and I started my bike….revved it a few times which drew cheers from the crowd…..and continued heading to work.

Four members of the National Youth Service Corps scheme, representing thousands of others, today, visited President Buhari to thank him over the recent increase in their monthly allowances from N19,800 to N33,000.

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme as a laudable one that needs to be sustained as it affords the opportunity for Nigerian youths to understand the country better.

“People come from far and wide; some from Victoria Island in Lagos have not even been to Ikeja. They now find themselves in Daura and other parts of the country. Whenever I go to my town, I get in touch with members; some of them from Lagos, some from Port Harcourt,” he stated.

President Buhari who said this Thursday in Abuja while playing host to corps members who came on a thank-you visit to him, also praised General Yakubu Gowon for the initiative.

“Whenever I meet General Gowon up till today, I thank him for initiating the NYSC. It is a nationalist and patriotic thinking that led to the development of the scheme,” he added

Four members representing others countrywide came to convey their “deepest gratitude” to the President over the recent increase in their monthly allowances from N19,800 to N33,000.

According to them, “the implementation in January, when we least expected it brought tears of joy to us as we had doubts of the promises earlier made.”

“You have demonstrated that you are a loving and caring father committed to the welfare of his children,” they added.

They also reiterated their commitment to do their best during their period in the scheme. “The increase is a wake-up call to us to show more commitment to the affairs of our fatherland. We are great stakeholders in our collective determination of building a prosperous and united Nigeria, the future belongs to us.”

The NYSC members were led to the State House by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare and the Director General of the scheme Brigadier General Ibrahim Shehu.

They are not part of the Lagos plan- Fashola backs Lagos governor’s ban on Okadas, tricycles

Ex-Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola who is the current Minister of Works and Housing, has declared his support for Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s decision to ban Okadas, motorcycles.

On January 27th, the state government banned motorcycles, keke Napeps in six Local Government Areas (LGAs), nine Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and 10 major highways across the State. Also banned are ride hailing services, OPay and GOkada.

Fashola who was governor from from May 2007 to May 2015 and had banned Okada riders during his administration, showed his support behind Governor Sanwo-Olu’s decision when he spoke at the public lecture organised by the United Action for Change (UAC) in Lagos today Thursday February 6th.

“If you care about security, you should back your governor on okada ban. As a centre of excellence, okada cannot be part of the plan. I’ve always held this position. Motorcycle have always been a conduit pipe for the opioid crisis among youths. We must act to eliminate anonymity.

I was robbed in my home, in fact on my bed in 1999. Organised crime is dynamic, criminals are aware that people don’t keep money at home again, now they diversified into kidnapping people for ransom. We must have data to identify people. You have SIM cards on your phone. It’s called subscriber identity module which can be tracked everywhere in the world. The attorney-general of each state and legislators should act.

In those days, we used to have licence for bicycles.” Fashola said
