Recall that Shuaibu Ibrahim, a brigadier general and the director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), announced last month that the monthly allowance of corps members has been increased to N33,000.

Hip hop mogul, Jay-Z has revealed one of the last things Kobe Bryant said to him before his tragic passing in a helicopter crash.
The NBA legend died at the age of 41, along with his duaghter, Gianna, 13, and seven other passengers when the helicopter they were flying in crashed near Calabasas on January 26.
Speaking to students at Columbia University on Tuesday, Jay-Z, 50, spoke about his sports agency and his relationship with Kobe Bryant.
When asked about his relationship with Kobe Bryant, Jay-Z took a pause to compose his thoughts, and then began with, ‘Kobe was a guy that looked up to me and we’ve hung out multiple times.’
‘He was last at my house on New Year’s and he was just in the greatest space that I’ve seen him in,’ the rapper continued.
‘One of the last things he said to me was, “You’ve gotta see Gianna play basketball,”‘ Jay-Z said, referring to his 13-year-old daughter who died in the crash with Kobe.
‘That was one of the most hurtful things, because he was so proud, and the look on his face was… I looked at him and said, “Oh she’s going to be the best female basketball player in the world.”‘

A 23-year-old boy, Michael Ohkide, is currently on the run after allegedly stabbing his parents, Barr. Clement Okhide and Toyin, to death on Tuesday in their apartment on Afeez Gbadamosi Street, Ejigbo, Lagos State
His sister, Mary, who was found in the pool of her blood, was rushed to the hospital where she’s currently battling for her life.
Although the exact reason for killing his parents could not be immediately ascertained as the Police said they were still on his trail.
Residents, however, said it would not be unconnected with his uncontrollable urge to get some of the illicit drugs at all costs.
One of the residents who described the 60-year-old late lawyer as a no-nonsense man, said “ he had been warning his son against taking illicit drugs but he wouldn’t listen. There had been an altercation between them several times.
Michael is the first child. The couple had three children. He had gone to three private universities but could not complete his education because of illicit drugs.
At a point, he said that his family hated, even when his parents did all they could to make him useful.”
A member of the deceased’s family also said, “It is unfortunate that my brother and his wife lost their lives in the process of trying to ensure he turned a new leaf.
Michael has been a thorn in the entire family’s flesh. If you cautioned him, he would snap at you and warn you to mind your business.”
It was learned that the assailant, who is into music, also stabbed his sister, Mary, in the stomach and hand.
The suspect is still on the run while effort is being made towards arresting him.
A Facebook user has objected to a post from another user stating that daughters are as important as sons.
The poster used Barack Obama, Kobe Bryant, and Mark Zuckerberg as examples of men who are not obsessed with having sons to continue their legacy because they do not need an offspring to do that for them. The poster went on to advice men to stop putting pressure on their wives to birth male children because female children are equally important.
But a Facebook user did not agree with the post and he dropped a comment to let the poster know his thoughts.
He wrote:
Male child is male child. If God blesses you with one or more, be happy…but if not, continue praying. One male child is worth more than ten daughters.Without a male child, your generation will go into extinction immediately you pass on.

Since Kobe Bryant’s death, the legendary basketballer has been used as an example of men who are proud to have daughters and did not give in to the pressure to have a son. Kobe always spoke highly of his daughters and once told of how people always encouraged him to have a son to take after him, but his daughter Gigi would always tell them that he doesn’t need a son for that because she’s got it.
Kobe, who had 4 daughters, usually referred to himself as a “Girl Dad” and since his death, the hashtag #Girldad has been used by a lot of men who have daughters. Men like Noble Igwe, who has two daughters, and Safaree Samuels, who recently welcomed his first child – a girl, and a lot of other fathers now proudly refer to themselves as girl dads while adding the #GirlDad hastagh to their posts.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been directed to review SIM card registration and usage by the Federal Government, in a bid to bar Nigerians from owning more than three mobile telephone lines.
It is expected that telecommunication companies will block unregistered SIMs from functioning on their networks in line with the directive which came in the wake of increased killings and kidnapping for ransom and general insecurity.
The NCC was also directed to ensure that the National Identity Number (NIN) becomes a prerequisite for Nigerians registering new SIM cards, while for foreigners use their passports and visas. Already registered SIM cards are to be updated with the NIN before December 1, 2020.
Communications and Digital Economy Minister Isa Ibrahim Pantami
The statement released by Dr. Femi Adeluyi, the technical adviser of the Communications and Digital Economy, Minister Isa Ibrahim Pantami, reads;
“The revision of the policy is based on the feedback received from the security agencies, following the successful revalidation of improperly registered SIM cards in September 2019 and the blocking of those that failed to revalidate their SIMs.
“Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to revise the Policy on SIM Card registration and usage.
“This is in line with the Powers of the minister as stated in Section 25(1) of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003- “the Minister shall, in writing, from time to time notify the Commission or and express his views on the general policy direction of the Federal Government in respect of the communications sector.
“The updated policy is expected to include the following provisions, amongst others:
Ensure that the National Identity Number (NIN) becomes a prerequisite for Nigerians registering new SIM cards (while for foreigners, their passports and visas should be used), while already registered SIM cards are to be updated with National Identity Number (NIN) before 1st December, 2020;
Ensure that only fully-accredited agents support the SIM card registration process without pre-registering SIM cards themselves, while the eventual registration should be done by the operators;
There should be a maximum number of SIM cards that can be tied to a single individual, possibly a maximum of three;
Ensure that no unregistered SIMs are ever allowed on mobile networks;
Ensure that subscribers can easily check the number of SIM cards registered to their name, along with the associated phone numbers and networks;
Ensure that mobile network operators fortify their networks against cyberattacks and ensure that they adhere to the provisions of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR); and
Ensure that SIM cards that have been used to perpetrate crimes are permanently deactivated.
“The NCC is to provide the minister with progress reports on the implementation of the revised policy.”
Commenting on the directive, telecommunication operators said the new measures may not stop criminal activities in the country. The President of the Association of Telecoms Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), Olusola Teniola said the next move by criminals will be to get as many NINs they need to register SIM cards for their nefarious activities.
Teniola listed post-code system and digital address system as measures that worked in other climes including the United Kingdom (UK) and Ghana, as he urged the Minister to take the issue of digital address system seriously.
A man has narrated how he was rewarded after passing an integrity test that was set for him by his bosses when he reported that he was paid an amount over what he is originally supposed to receive.
The man who has since gone viral on Twitter, said his January salary was overpaid and he informed HR about it, only to be told that it was a test. Due to his integrity, he was given pay raise.

Tragedy struck on Wednesday as two pupils were killed while two others sustained serious injuries when an overhead water tank fell inside their classroom in Royal Kings Foundation nursery and primary school, Nkpor-Agu in Idemili North local government area of Anambra State.
According to findings, the victims, three boys and a girl were immediately rushed to the hospital where two of them, aged 2 and 3, were confirmed dead.
Spokesperson of the state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said that the tank of about 800 gallons capacity filled with water reportedly fell from its high stand from a neighbouring house adjacent to the school on the roof of the pre-nursery class and directly into the classroom.
“At about 11:15am, an overhead Tank filled with water fell into a classroom of Royal Kings Foundation nursery and primary school Nkpor-Agu in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State,” the statement reads.
“Police patrol team led by DPO Ogidi Division CSP Mark Ijarafu rushed to the scene. On arrival it was discovered that the overhead tank of about 800 gallons capacity filled with water fell from its high stand from a neighbouring house adjacent to the school on the roof of the pre-nursery class and directly into the classroom
As a result, four children sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to Idemili hospital Nkpor for medical attention. Unfortunately, two of the children namely, Wisdom Ezewudo ‘m’ aged about 3years and a female pupil of about 2years, whose identity is yet to be ascertained were confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor. Two others namely Chimelumeze Obelenwa ‘m’ aged One year seven months and Kosisochukwu Anthony ‘m’ aged One year ten months are responding to treatment.” he addd.
Mohammed disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, John Abang had already commiserated with parents of the victims and also ordered for a discreet investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident

A show promoter has claimed that he was asked to pay 3,500 Naira for a horse ride from Keffi street, Ikoyi to Obalende.
Instagram user @Iamstillonstill revealed he waited for a bus for like 30 minutes but when he didn’t see one, he decided to ride on a horse to his destination.
However, when he asked the rider how much it will cost, he was told he will have to pay 3,500 Naira for the short journey.

Fast forward to this year, @TheonlyFarouq, has revealed that the CEO has stated reasons why his logo cannot be used and why the logo may not fit into the company’s vision and mission presently, but that it could be a thing for the future.

Natacha Akide has launched a new project, tagged ‘Pad for every girl’ (PEG).
The reality star went on a short visit with her team to Government Girls secondary school, Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt, and they donated sanitary pads to the young students.
Natacha further shared a seminar with the girls, on maintaining menstrual hygiene, where she talked about menstruation and how the female students should carry themselves while on their periods.
Sharing an update of the event via her verified instagram page, the reality star wrote;

The clash between okada riders and police officers in Iyana Ipaja has reporrtedly turned violent, after a schoolgirl was reportedly hit by a stray bullet.
In a video shared online, a schoolgirl clad in her school uniform can be seen lying motionless on the floor. Blood soaked through her school uniform and concerned people tried to tie a cloth around her to stem the blood flow.
There was a commotion around her as people screamed in distress as they tried unsuccessfully to offer whatever comfort they could to the dying girl.
