Suspected kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike popularly known as Evans has revealed that he knows his victims’ worth from their looks.
In a video played at the trial of Evans on Friday January 10, alongside Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba over the alleged kidnap of Donatus Dunu, chief executive officer of Maydon Pharmaceutical Ltd, the billionaire kidnapper shared details of his victims who paid ransoms in six-figures and in foreign currencies.
Testifying in court before the video was played, the state prosecutor Idowu Haruna narrated how Evans spent the ransoms he allegedly received from his victims.
He said;
“The investigation carried out revealed that the ransoms collected by the first defendant was used in purchasing a house at Fred Shoboyede Road, Magodo, where he was arrested.
“He purchased a second house at Emmanuel Keshi St., Magodo and another property in Accra, Ghana.
“He used part of the ransom to establish himself in the haulage business and some of the trucks he bought with the ransoms were recovered by police. He also bought some landed property in Anambra state. “
When asked how he knew those to kidnap in the video played in the courtroom during the cross-examination of Idowu Haruna by Emmanuel Ochai, the defence counsel to Victor Aduba who is one of the co-defendants, Evans said “when you see someone that has money you will know”. He also revealed that he knew his victim’s will sell their properties to secure their release.
Evans who disclosed that Aduba, a dismissed army officer accompanied him during kidnap operations, however said he did not participate in the kidnap of Dunu in the video.
While the prosecution closed its case against Evans and his five co-defendants after the video was played, the defense counsel pointed out that Evans never identified Aduba (sixth defendant) as a participant in the kidnap of Dunu.
Reacting to this, Haruna said;
“According to information the victim (Dunu) gave to police, kidnappers that came to abduct him were in army camouflage.
“This collaborated the information provided by the kidnap kingpin that most of the kidnapping he carried out were with the participation of the sixth defendant and that the sixth defendant did not participate in the kidnap of Dunu.”
The six defendants were first arraigned on August 30, 2017 on two counts of conspiracy and kidnapping. Four witnesses including Mr Dunu who was kidnapped in Lagos on February 14, 2017 after which the suspects allegedly collected £223,000 (N100 million) as ransom from his family, testified during the trial on behalf of the state.

Award-winning actor,Samuel Ajibola, aka ‘Spiff’ in the television series, ‘The Johnsons’, who recently fulfilled the traditional obligations of taking his bride home, has opened up on the signs he saw that made him tie the knot officially, with his bride. He also spoke about raising children and how his boyish looks affected him.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, the love-struck actor, who described himself as a very lucky man, said their union was destined to happen at the right time.
When he was asked the signs that made him certain that he had found his missing rib, the actor said, “Right from primary school, I knew that I was either going to settle down with an Igbo woman or a white lady. But I had an 80 per cent chance of settling down with an Igbo woman who is fair and comes from a Catholic family. Those were the traits of the girls I was usually attracted to. But for my spouse, she had some features that reminded me of my mum when she was younger and since I have so much resemblance to my dad, I knew it was going to be easy to settle down with her. I’m also in tune with my spiritual life, so I knew it was meant to be. I saw the signs and messages and I wasn’t going to take chances. When she met my parents, they were also of the opinion that she would be a great wife.
“To be honest, my fiancée is a beautiful soul full of happiness and she is a great person. So, it was not hard convincing my parents that she is good for me. My parents are not tribalists– they were open to receiving anybody. I also got a warm reception from my in-laws too. Ours was just a kingdom wedding that was destined to happen. We courted for about two years but we had known a long time that we were destined for each other. We were just waiting for the right time.”
And about his recently concluded wedding, Spiff said, “My wedding was a huge success. We shook Anambra town. A young prince from the west came in search of his own princess.
Speaking about the reactions that trailed the news of his engagement, the actor with boyish looks, said he was long overdue to settle down.
“To be honest, for some years now, I had been long overdue to settle down. But most people did not have an idea about it because I look very young and I play young characters most of the time. So, marriage was not what a lot of people or fans ever imagined for me. But I knew that I was of age and I needed to settle down soon to move on to the next phase in life.
“At the point that I knew she was the one for me, I wasn’t going to waste time anymore. As soon as we started getting along and both families had met each other, we were just counting down until when we were ready for it,” he said.
And about raising a family, he added, “I’m not considering a large family. We are planning (to have) not more than three children, considering the population of Nigeria. It’s really hard to raise children here.”
Curvaceous actress, Biodun Okeowo, better known as Omoborty, is no doubt one actress whose body figure speaks for her even when she won’t speak by herself.
However, the fair-skinned voluptuous role interpreter, who has an impressive fan base on Instagram, has said that she was once shy of showing off her body until social media helped boost her confidence.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, the actress said,
“About six years ago, I used to be shy of my shape. I was always conscious of the way I walked because of my posterior.
“At times I had to wear like two tights under anything I was putting on just because I didn’t want my posterior to shake. But the advent of social media boosted my confidence. I started seeing people boldly flaunting their curves.
“I also learnt how to work on my shape via this medium. Then, I used to regret my shape but now, I’m so proud of it. I look at myself in the mirror and I thank God and my mother for this.
”The actress who is also a beauty entrepreneur, said that her the business now takes 90 per cent of her time because it brings more money for her than acting. She said, “I’m doing two jobs that need attention. One brings money and the other brings fame. I need to dedicate about 90 per cent of my time to my business for it to grow and monitor things myself.
“This has affected my participation in the movie industry. But some clients patronise me because they are my fans, so if I’m not present, I may lose out. Movie is not running away. I’m not the type of person that wants to reign forever. I just want to do what I want to do and make an impact.
“Career-wise, I think my physique helped me. I remember that last year when I was on set, someone said, I was no more active as an actress because of my business engagements.
The person also said if it was not for my shape, they wouldn’t have called me. I was shocked by those casual words. But in Nigeria, one needs to be there, if not, one’s business would be mismanaged.”
The actress, who has two children, also said that she puts her children into consideration in all that she does and tries to avoid scandals.
She added,
“What rocks your boat might not rock mine. I think it’s just the case of “as one grows older, there are some things one wouldn’t want to do anymore, no matter how fashionable or good they are.
“I won’t tell you what I’m not but I wear anything that I find comfortable as long as my children don’t object to it. Like the outfit I used for my birthday shoots, I sent it to my son in Canada to get his opinion and he approved of it; even his sister too.
“It’s not like I’m seeking validation from my children but I put them into consideration first. I don’t want them to read things that would make them sad or disturbed. I think there was a time I had an issue with someone and it was a bit messy.
My son told me that I should have kept quiet and not replied. It’s not that I don’t want people to talk about me. I just tread with caution in all that I do because of my image.”
Controversial Nigerian radio personality and author, Toke Makinwa has taken a swipe at every African parent there is, dubbing them the “worst in the world” for “ruining lives” with unorthodox child-raising values.
The 35-year-old fashionista, on a recent episode of her vlog, vented her grievances about the parenting values among many African families which she said are “screwing up” lives.
The lovely also touched on issues spanning parents’ intolerance for opposite-sex friendship, their dogmatic stance on career choices, as well as their “penchant” for instilling fear in children.
Toke, in her words said,
“Thanks to African parents for ruining our lives. Growing up in an African home, there are certain things we never had the balls to say. Even now, I’m 35. I still can’t stand up to my parents,”
“African parents are the worst set of parents in the whole wide world. You never have an option on things that are coming in an African home. As a child, you’re told what to read in school.
“They don’t tell you what you’re good at but what they think you should be doing. It’s like, ‘I want to have a doctor, so my child must read medicine.’ Even if you do shit in maths, you’ll be an accountant.
“African parents don’t apologize. They’re never wrong. Doesn’t that bother you? How dare you say they are wrong? You almost become less confident because of the scoldings of an African mother.”
Toke also talked on her own relationship with her parents and revealed she still looks away when sex scenes play out on TV in the presence of her mother — even at the age of 35.
She went on to state that the failure of African parents to discuss matters regarding sex and their prohibitory stance on having boyfriends has caused many to have relationship problems in adulthood.
“Our parents have sex. But we can’t envision it. Things happened to me: If a boy calls you on the phone or writes a love letter, you’re finished! Going to church? We did it because they wanted us to,” she added.
“They told us to stay away from boys. We did for so long that we don’t have boyfriends. But when you’re older and are yet to marry, they call all sorts of pastors to pray for you. Something is wrong!”
Although Toke decries the harsh terms to which many African parents subject their wards, she also agrees that many would have gone astray if such reservedness and deprivations weren’t in place.
Blockbusting Sugar Rush Movie, which just hit the cinemas this past Christmas has reportedly been banned from being shown across Nigerian cinemas.
The movie which stars some of Nollywood’s finest acts, like Bimbo Ademoye, Bisola Aiyeola, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Tobi Bakre, Omoni Oboli, Williams Uchemba and others is said to have been banned due to a peculiar reason.
A reliable source informed us that the ban is temporary and it should be back up in cinemas in a really short while.
Though there are speculations as to why the movie was temporarily banned across the Nigerian cinemas.
As at the time of filing this report, no cinema has showtime for airing this movie which strongly proves that it has been banned.
The Sugar Rush Movie, following its release became the biggest advanced screening for a Nollywood film in 2019 and also the 2nd biggest advanced screening for any film released in 2019.
The movie also grossed in a whooping N150m in less than two weeks of its release and became the No. 1 film at the box office for weeks.
UPDATED: The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has ordered that the screening of ‘Sugar Rush’ in cinemas be halted.
In a statement released on its Facebook page, the board said the temporary approval given for the movie exhibition has expired.
“It has come to our notice that #BringBackSugarRush is currently gaining momentum on Twitter with many speculating a ban on the movie ‘Sugar Rush’ and presuming the supposed action as a sign of government’s intention to stifle creativity,” it said.
“The movie has not just significantly increased box office revenues within a short period but has improved our cinematic culture which is sine qua non for attracting the investment we so much desire as a nation.”
Adedayo Thomas, the board’s executive director, took responsibility for delaying the final approval of the movie.
“I, however, take responsibility for the gap in communication and the delay in granting final approval as the temporary approval given for the movie exhibition expired before we could release an official statement due to my preoccupation with extant responsibilities and a backlog of movies requiring approval as a result of the December rush.
“I am currently working with the distributor, producer, director and key actors to grant final approval for the resumed exhibition at cinemas.”
1. Thank you all SO MUCH for the support that our film "Sugar Rush" has received. Unfortunately, due to issues that are way beyond our control, #SugarRushMovie has been suspended from playing in Cinemas. pic.twitter.com/gn7Yi2K64N
2. We are hoping that these issues will be resolved quickly, so we can resume screening the film ASAP.
We did everything within our power and sacrificed a lot to make a movie you'd love and we appreciate the support and incredible demand thus far. Please don't give up on us now pic.twitter.com/w9Tg5WGwBL
It was like a nollywood movie in Benin community as Police officers were resisted from carrying out arrest by angry residents.
A video of the incident depicting the angry reactions from residents to the police officers has surfaced online.
Inside the video, some angry residents can be seen yelling at the police officers who are dressed and armed with guns while some residents can be seen pushing the police officers.
One of the angry residents can be heard saying that “you go hear am today” as they move around yelling at the police officers while one of the officers was accused of stealing a mobile phone belonging to one of the residents.
Several cases of citizens resisting police officers arrest especially SARS officials have been reported and most of these cases can be easily traced to abuse of powers while some citizens take advantage of the agitation against SARS officers misuse of powers.
Bishop David Oyedepo on Saturday raged at some highly placed officials of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, a.k.a. Winners Chapel, who stole millions of Naira from the church’s treasury.
The Nation reports that the cleric revealed how some very high up officials, mainly accountants, had looted the church’s treasury. The Bishop could not hide his disappointment that professionals trusted by the church to prevent fraud, turned themselves into a network of fraudsters.
Expressing his disappointment in the errant church officials, who have since been relieved of their positions in the church, he said: “Can you imagine accountants perpetrating fraud in the house of God?
We had no choice but to dismiss them. You can imagine top church officials engaging in doubling figures and other dubious practices. Even after we dismissed them, we discovered more fraud.
Those who should discover the fraud were the ones involved in it. One of them refused to confess until the last minute. I have to tell everyone present here because I know the dismissed officials will come to you for employment.
Don’t employ them and don’t sympathise with them. Whoever sympathises with the wicked is wicked himself. Don’t sympathise with any perpetrator of fraud, otherwise you are a partaker of the evil act.”

UPDATED:Dakore Akande and her husband jointly shutdown divorce rumor.
Over the weekend, reports went rife on social media that the marriage of Nollywood Actress, Dakore and her Husband, Olumide Akande had crashed.
However, in a wonderful twist, the couple have jointly dispelled the rumor as they took to their respective social media page to celebrate themselves on their 10th wedding anniversary.
Dakore, via her instagram, shared a beautiful video of her family with the caption; “Best support system. Happy 10th Anniversary babe @_o.lou ❤❤❤”Sadly once they realize hating isn’t working they start telling lies”
If reports on social media are anything to go by, popular Actress, Dakore Egbuson’s marriage has reportedly hit the rocks.
This comes as a rude shock because nobody envisaged that there would be a separation, not to talk of a divorce between Nollywood’s actress, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, and her husband.
They were so in love with each other!
In fact, nobody envisaged that there would be a separation, not to talk of a divorce between Nollywood’s actress, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, and her husband.
But like some celebrity marriages, Dakore and Olumide Akande are no more. Just like a pack of badly stacked cards, the nine-year-old wedding crumbled and the centre cannot hold.
Signs that the wedlock was troubled surfaced online when the actress posted a photo where she wore bikini! Prior to that, she was sighted at the One African Music Fest in Dubai with her brother, Timini.
“The marriage had problems a few years back but the couple tried to make things work out. Many factors were responsible but Dakore became tired of not having enough money to throw around. Her husband, Olumide, who is one of a son of billionaire businessman, Harry Akande, is broke—the money isn’t flowing like when they met, courted and married. Olu lives off his dad and the economy isn’t as buoyant. Even Harry Akande is allegedly not as rich as he was,” reliable sources told Kemi Ashefon.
Many would recollect that Dakore was romantically involved with Olumide, for many years before they were pronounced man and wife at the Guiding Light Assembly, Ikoyi in 2011. A lavish reception that had in attendance elite members of the society was staged at the prestigious KFA Event Place in Lekki. Dakore’s father-in-law, businessman cum politician Chief Harry Akande brought to bear his social and financial clout.
“Olumide sacrificed everything for Dakore. Initially, when he made his intention known to family members that he wanted to marry the actress, hell was loose! No member of his family stood by him. To them, Olu could have gotten a good girl instead of an actress, who is tagged wayward and a gold-digger. He ignored all pleadings and advice. The handsome dude went for Dakore and they were married in 2011. They have two girls as products of the union,” source revealed.
Moreover, the quest for a third child must have allegedly put pressure on the actress who quit the movies long before she married Akande and after their two kids, they relocated to the United States of America. Well, Dakore’s mother-in-law wasn’t pleased with their lifestyle and wanted them in Nigeria where the couple can work towards giving her a grandson!
Meanwhile, Dakore had maintained that she was done with child-bearing. As a matter of fact, it was due to the complications in their marriage that pushed her into acting again.
Not a few fans would be worried at this development because Dakore did all she could to keep her marriage intact—at least on social media. Not known to celebrate her wedding anniversaries on social media unlike some actresses, she revealed that she wanted a ‘private marriage and not one to be displayed on social media.’
In an interview two years ago, Dakore disclosed that, “My mother always say, ‘cover your yam and how you’re eating it.’ Like on his birthday, I just do maybe some posts on Instagram but we like to celebrate anniversaries in-house with the kids. We’ve been together for 11 years but married for seven years.”
Already, Dakore has moved out of her marriage and she is allegedly dating a Nigerian guy who is into entertainment and organizes big shows in Africa and other continents. Who knows the couple can still come back again.
