A rights activist, Gwamnishu Harrison, who was in charge of the rescue of a 15-year-old child bride, Chinwe has shared new photos of the girl.

Recall 15-year-old CHinwe was married off to a 56-year-old ‘demented man’, identified as Izuchuwkwu Igwilo.

The activist in an update, has disclosed that the girl has been granted scholarship by Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano. He also revealed that she has been trained and empowered in tailoring through ITF and assisted back to school within the space of eight months by the Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs.

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, has announced a scholarship grant for former Child bride RetrieveChinwe whose story went viral on social media February 2019.

This news was made known today, 18th December, 2019.

RetrieveChinwe was brainwashed into marrying Izuchukwu Igwilo, a middle-age man from Ozubulu, Ekwusigo, LGA Anambra State.

The young girl has been trained and empowered in tailoring through ITF and assisted back to school within the space of eight months by Anambra State Government through Ministry of Women Affairs.

RetrieveChinwe will henceforth be educated and catered for, through the scholarship grant provided Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano.

The United States House of Representatives voted largely along party lines to impeach President Donald Trump for obstruction of Congress and abuse of power related to his dealings with Ukraine.

Trump is only the third president in US history to be impeached by the full House. Wednesday’s votes set up a likely January trial in the Republican-controlled Senate.

The mother of the missing one year old Gold Kolawole and the Ondo State Police Command have shut down rumors that the body of her child was exhumed from the Sotitobire Miracle Church in Akure, the state capital.

Some irate youths in the state capital stormed the church premises this morning and set it on fire following rumors that the body of Kolawole who went missing in the church in November, was exhumed from the altar.

In a statement released this afternoon, spokesperson of the state police command, Femi Joseph said the rumor is untrue.

The statement reads ;

“The Ondo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public particularly the People of Ondo State that they should disregard the rumours making the rounds that the body of a recently declared missing boy in the state has been exhumed from Sotitobire church in Akure.

It is most unfortunate that this misleading information spearheaded by a popular TV station, has ignited a spontaneous reactions from the people leading to wanton destruction of properties and injuries to many.

The church building was also set ablaze by irate youths. Some of our officers dispatched to the scene to contain the situation were pelted with stones with many of them sustaining injuries.

Their patrol vehicle was also badly damaged. This rejoinder became necessary to disabuse the minds of many Nigerians who might have fallen for this wicked lies and propaganda.

The public should also not be hoodwinked by reports that the command has abandoned the investigation of the incident, as the case file is already on the way to the DPP for legal advice. .

Notwithstanding this latest incident, more reinforcement has been sent to the scene to contain the situation.”

Some youths in the Akure town of Ondo state, set ablaze the Sotitobire Miracle church, after the corpse of a on year old boy, who was declared missing in the church in November, was allegedly exhumed from the church altar.

Recall in November, baby Gold Kolawole was declared missing in the church. He had gone to the church with his mother who dropped him off at the children’s department in the church but when she returned to pick him up after the close of church, he was nowhere to be found. The church workers were also unable to give her an explanation as to his whereabouts.

Alfa Babatunde, the founder of the church was arrested following the incident, and has been in the custody of the DSS.

This morning, the youths acting on rumors that the corpse of the child was allegedly exhumed from the altar, besieged the church and set it on fire.
