A man who decided to get creative with his engagement plan by popping the ‘will you marry me’ question to his lover while they were surfing on sea, got more than he bargained for when he accidentally dropped the ring in the sea.

When surfer couple Christopher Garth, 38, and Lauren Oiye, 32, recently went surfing in Honolulu, Hawaii, no one would gave believed that Garth would propose to the love of his life while on top of his surf board while on water.

As Lauren and Garth surfed on the exact spot where they met years back, Mr Garth dropped down on one knee on his surfboard, taking out the ring he had been keeping in the pocket of his swimming trunks and then asked her to marry him.

Garth had positioned photographers to capture the moment, but was left stunned when his ring fell into the water. However, it turned out the ring used in the proposal was a spare fake one, with the real ring kept safe on shore.

Lauren taking to her instagram to share the good news, said;

“Story time: we caught a wave together at the surf break we met at and had many of our first dates,” Lauren wrote.

“I turn back to make sure he was on the wave with me and he was on one knee with a ring box and screamed out ‘Lauren, I love you! Will you marry me?!’”

Ms Oiye revealed she initially thought the proposal was a joke, until she realised her man was being real.

“Christopher Garth, I love you and am so grateful the stars aligned and our ancestors that came before us so beautifully orchestrate this for us!” she stated after he asked her to marry him.

“Here’s to a lifetime of laughter and keeping things simple and authentic!”

A 38-year-old woman Pilaiwan Khamdee, afflicted with throat cancer and other illnesses, shot her husband in the head and then killed herself at their house in Thailand.

Neighbours said that the woman was stressed by her illness and her husband was popular and good looking, and this may have fueled her actions.

The shooting in tambon Tha Khai of Muang district was reported to police about 7 am, Pol Lt Jaraesak Suwannason, deputy investigation chief at Muang police station, said on Thursday.

Pilaiwan Khamdee was found dead on her bed inside the one-story house. Her husband, Montri Kimaphan, 42, was also lying, bleeding on the bed. He had been shot in the forehead. A .38 pistol was on the bed and there was a bullet hole in a glass window.

The grievously injured man was rushed to Phutthasothon Hospital. The couple’s eldest son, aged 20, told police he heard three gunshots in his mother’s bedroom. He rushed to the room and found both his parents bleeding on the bed, and called for help.

He later learned that his mother had left a farewell letter to him and his 18-year-old brother, who lived in another house with his girlfriend.

The letter read, “Mum and dad could not stand it anymore. I was so tired. I am sorry”

She also bequeathed her assets to him and his younger brother in the farewell letter, he said.

The young man said his mother had been suffering from nasopharynx cancer and other illnesses. Stress from her illnesses might have driven her to take her own life.

Neighbours told police that the kamnan also worked as a local contractor. He was a good-looking family man, kind and loved by many residents.

They suspected jealousy and stress from her illnesses might have driven his wife to shoot him.

Police are still investigating.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Ibadan Judicial Division, today Monday November 18th, sentenced to six months imprisonment Adeleke Oluwaseyi, a 21-year-old internet fraud apprentice.

EFCC in a statement released this afternoon, said Oluwaseyi, was arraigned one a one-count charge of impersonation and was found guilty as charged. Oluwaseyi who claimed to be eight months into online dating apprenticeship when arrested in June, operated with the name Patrick Bob, claiming to be an American citizen.

He was initially arraigned on a four-count charge before the counts were reduced to one after sealing a plea bargain arrangement with the EFCC.

The latter count to which he pleaded guilty on Monday offends Section 22(3) of the Cyber crimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc) Act, 2015.

Owing to his ‘guilty’ plea, EFCC’s counsel Ifeanyi Agwu had prayed the court to sentence him in accordance with the content of the plea bargain arrangement.

Besides the jail term, the convict was also ordered to restitute $150 USD to his victim through the Federal Government of Nigeria.

He will equally forfeit his Samsung J3, Infinix and Kigtel phones as well as his Lenovo laptop to the Federal Government.

A Nigerian cleric, Oladele Ogundipe, has spoken against popular sayings that sexual activity should last for a long period of time.

Ogundipe said that meaningful sex between a couple should not be more than five minutes and that any man who wants to stay on a woman for over 30 minutes is a mad man.
