Nigeria’s Debt Management Office on Tuesday October 15, announced that the country’s public debt now stands at a whooping N25.7trn.
It was further discovered that the public debt increased by N3.32trn in one year as at the end of June 2019. The nation’s public debt which stood at N22.38trn as of June 2018, increased to N24.39trn in December 2018 and N24.95trn in March 2019.
As at June 30, 2019, the Federal Government owed N20.42trn while the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory debt portfolio stood at N5.28trn.
The debt stock is made up of N8.32trn ($27.16bn) external debt and N17.38trn borrowed domestically.

An angry Nigerian lady took to social media to narrate her encounter with the police after she was stopped at the checkpoint.
According to the young lady, the police requested for the receipt of her dog after they didn’t see anything wrong with her car papers.

“Naaa these police people are mental
Is a police supposed to stop you for carrying dog in your car?
Is it anywhere in the books that say there’s a license for dogs?
This police man stops me on the road and was asking me for the receipt of my dog. That i stole the dog, I asked him to show me where in their police books it states that they should be asking for dog receipts.
Opened the rules I have and asked him to show me, maybe it’s a fine print I missed. And he kept quiet and let me go.
He didn’t see anything wrong with the car or my papers it’s dog he saw. Rubbish”.
The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC in Ibadan, Oyo State, have reportedly freed 13 out of the 94 suspected cyber fraudsters recently arrested in Osogbo.
The 94 suspects were arrested on Sunday night after the agency raided three Night Clubs in Osogbo and Iwo towns, in Osun State. Recovered items included 19 exotic cars and over 100 phones.
13 persons were, however, exonerated and released after preliminary investigations found them to be innocent. The Deputy Chief Detective Superintendent of the EFCC in the state Bright Igeleke, said the latest arrests are an indication of the resolve of the commission to rid the country of economic and financial crimes.
He further stated that so far, at least 152 convictions have been made on internet fraud and related offenses.
A couple who were digging a grave to bury their baby, who died shortly after birth, were shocked to find a baby buried alive.
The couple were at the cemetery in northern India to bury their baby, who died minutes after birth. While digging a grave for their child on October 10, 2019, their spade struck something hard. It was a clay pot and, from inside, they could hear a baby crying.
Upon investigation, a newborn baby girl was discovered buried alive. She was no more than two or three days old.
Police in the state of Uttar Pradesh were quickly summoned to the cemetery and took the newborn to a hospital. The infant had respiratory problems and was put on a ventilator, Alka Sgarna, the medical superintendent who treated her, told CNN.
The baby also had an infection and was underweight.
Police superintendent Abhinandan Singh said at a briefing:
“We are looking for her parents, and it is possible that they are involved in it. Such an act is difficult without their involvement. We have deployed police teams, even in civil dress, to trace the suspects.”
It has been four days since the baby girl was discovered, Singh said, and no one has claimed her.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday October 14, stated that government can’t provide adequate healthcare for all Nigerians.
Yemi Osinbajo, who was represented at the national health dialogue organised by Premium Times in Abuja by his Chief Physician Nicolas Audiferren, said the best option for the nation will be an effective national health insurance scheme.
“It has become obvious that the government, both at the state and federal levels, cannot adequately provide health care services. That’s the simple truth.”
“Our view is that an effective national health insurance scheme remains the best option for the development of our sector and for efficient health care services in this country.”
Also listing some achievements of the Buhari-led administration in the health sector, Osinbajo added that the present government is dedicated to attaining universal health coverage (UHC) for all Nigerians.
“We were able to allocate 1% of the consolidated revenue fund towards the funding of key health initiative in compliance with National Health act.
“Last year we also launched the patients’ bill of right, initiated renovations and improve funding for primary health care institutions. We have been able to eradicate polio” he said.

A Facebook user has given the horrific narrative of how she was allegedly held hostage, beaten, and raped by her childhood friend who she went to visit in Ghana after he promised to teach her Forex trading.
Clement Vanessa Ogechi said she knew Emusi Clinton from secondary school, where she was the head girl.
They graduated in 2014 and lost contact until they recently reconnected on Facebook.
Ogechi revealed that Clinton told her he is into Forex trading and promised to teach her how to make money by being a Forex trader if she could visit him in Ghana where he is now based.
She said before she left Abuja for Ghana earlier this month, she made him promise he will not ask for sex or anything other than the business that took her to Ghana and he promised.
According to Ogechi, on getting there on October 7, 2019, she found out he’s into online fraud and runs a house where young boys are made to work from morning till night on their laptops with the aim of defrauding innocent people online.
She said he told her that she must work to get him a client before he will give her transport fare to return to Nigeria.
He allegedly locked her in the house and only let her sleep from 12 midnight till 4am, after which she’ll wake up and start working on a laptop.
She also accused him of beating her and raping her twice. She showed photos of her injuries.
She said she eventually escaped early in the morning, on October 11, while everyone was still asleep, and she ran to a police station in Ghana. According to Ogechi, Clinton and his accomplices were eventually arrested and she was able to return to Abuja on Sunday, October 13, at about 3 pm.
She said she’s sharing her story to warn young girls about being too trusting.

I said I was gonna share a tragic story with you guys yesterday. Well, here it is.
I used to know a guy named EMUSI CLINTON, who now goes by the name ‘Successful OG’ We were classmates in secondary school from 2011-2014. Although we weren’t friends, but he was friends with my friends. Then From 2013/2014, I was made the head girl of the school. People like Mimi Jacobs Joy Stanley and Okwuwe Onyinye can attest to this. So because of this reason, he started talking to me more often. We spent most of our Teenage years in Agbor, Delta state where I grew up. We never dated, never had any sexual activity of any sort. Just a Hello hello kind of friends. After graduation, everybody went their separate ways…
So a few months ago, he reconnected with me on Facebook. I couldn’t even recognize him again until I went through his old photos. We exchanged pleasantries. I asked him what he does for a living, he told me he was into an online trading. So I told him I was interested in learning FOREX trading. He said he could teach me but he is not close. And that it’s not something he’ll be explaining to me on the phone. That he now base in Ghana. That if I can find my way to Ghana, his base, he promise he can help me with it.
I told him to give me some time to run around to see if I can get some money from a few friends to complete my T.P. Trust me I didn’t get any help from any friend. Maybe this was Gods own way of asking me not to go, but I didn’t listen. I told him I didn’t get help from anywhere. So he told me to find my way to Lagos, that if I can get to Lagos, he will pay from Lagos to Ghana. I got ready and traveled from Abuja to Lagos on 5/10/2019. To cut the story short, I got to Ghana the next day. I started calling him when I got there, but he didn’t pick my call again. I stayed in the park so late that the people there started talking shits like ‘she’s a prostitute, ‘she came to see a Facebook friend’, ‘she’s an abandoned runsgirl’. I was so ashamed of myself that day. I slept in that park till the next morning. He called me by 5am and started apologizing, that he was sleeping. I was just so perplexed that I didn’t even know what to say to him. I got to his house on 7/10/19. This was the last time I saw outside the house or it looked like from outside. Before I left Abuja, I made sure we had a mutual agreement like he wouldn’t ask me for anything other than the reason that made me leave. And i accepted to embark on this journey because I thought I knew him based on the fact that we were old secondary school buddies.
I got to his house that very day and the story changed. He said my Transportation back to Abuja depends on what I can do using the laptop. That if I can’t make clients pay, that means I am stocked with him. This was the day my doom began. I met three other guys in the house. All of them were working under him. He said I’ll sleep 12am and wake up by 4am, same with the other guys. We do this every day. I fell ill the second day. The same routine every day. I chatted him the 4th day and told him I wanted to go back that I couldn’t continue.
He said he already told me that my T.P depended on the clients. He even said he didn’t want me to be pressing laptop anymore, that I should move to his room. I should pretend to be his girlfriend while we engage in a sexual relationship. I told him I can’t do that. I begged him to send me back that I’ll send him back the T.P he paid both to and fro when I get back home. He refused and kept quiet.
On thé 10/10/19 around 1:am midnight, he woke me up and asked me to leave his house. He pushed me out of his house, collected my phone and locked his gate. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I even thought I was dreaming. I pinched myself to make sure what was happening wasn’t true. I just realized it was true.
So I stayed outside for 30mins. He later opened the gate. He pretended to be sorry. Started apologizing to me. I followed him back inside again. immediately we got into the room, started pounding me. I was just begging the ground to swallow me. I prayed to die than let him touch me. Unfortunately my prayer wasn’t answered. I ended up being raped. He was raping and beating me at the same time till he spilt his disgusting fluid on me. I cried myself till the next day morning.
The next day, been the 11/10/19, he repeated what he did to me the other day again. This time it was 2:13am. The other guys were just quiet in their room. This time he made sure he raped me till I stopped talking. He beat me till the left side of my face got swollen. You can see the bruises on my lips, that’s because he hit my mouth. I prayed for death, I didn’t see it.
As early as 5:am, I woke up. Seems the other guys didn’t work that day because they were busy sleeping. I opened the door. I looked for a means to leave the compound. God did it, I was able to jump out of the house. Immediately I saw a man taking his child to school, I pleaded with him to give me a lift. He directed me to the nearest police station. I reported to Ghana police station in the area. So took some police men to the house. They got him arrested and the other guys. The police officers asked me if I wanted to make a case. I refused because that would have delayed my return. I didn’t want to waste any more time. I just asked them to tell him to give me my T.P. They released the other guys because they were innocent. I took my T.P from the police men and left while they still negotiating how much he will pay to be released. I left that same day. I got back to Abuja yesterday around 3pm.
Guys this is a true story of what happened to me live. This one is not audio. I am not sharing this to draw any attention of any sort, I am sharing this story so you can learn from it. If you don’t have a family, and you know you can’t take care of yourself when the worse happens, don’t embark on that trip. Don’t think you know him since child hood will save you. You can forward to anyone important to you, who knows you might save a life.
The Ekiti State police command on Monday, 14th of October, paraded some suspected hoodlums arrested for malicious damage and unlawful possession of firearm.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the arrest in a statement, said the hoodlums suspected to be Aderiye Adebayo A.K.A OJUIGO thugs, barricaded the roads at Oke-Iyinmi, Old garage, Post office, in Ijigbo area of Ado-Ekiti.
“Immediately the information was received, the operative of the Police Command responded to the scene of incident. On getting there, The hoodlums Had already blocked OKE-IYINMI post office, Old garage and Ijigbo Roads with logs of woods: burning tyres at the centre of the road” said Ikechukwu.
“On sighting the police, the hoodlums were Firing sporadically and shouting ‘we are for OJUIGO, Police no road for you’.
“Three suspects have been arrested with two cutlass and 5 empty shell of expended cartridges, one bottle, axe.
” The three Suspects are in our custody. as soon as investigations is concluded the will be charge to court.” he added.

Ojuolape Veronica Asuquo, the wife of talented Nigerian singer and music producer, Cobhams Asuquo, has opened up in a new interview that their son was born blind.
Veronica went on to reveal how her son’s blindness has made her closer to God – Veronica, a PR expert, got married to Cobhams Asuquo in 2010.
A year later, they welcomed their first child on Nov 30th, 2011, in the US. It wasn’t until months later that she discovered he was visually impaired.
She said,
“The elephant in the room in my life in the past six years is pretty much… So, I got married, and we got pregnant. My pregnancy was fantastic, I didn’t even know I was pregnant, found out I was pregnant, still wasn’t sure I was pregnant because I didn’t have any symptoms.
After the “smooth” pregnancy and an even smoother delivery that happened “under 45 minutes”, her baby was checked abroad and she was told he is OK.
She continued,
“Everything was so smooth. And then fast forward to four months after my son was born and the doctor was like ‘his eyes are not following’ and I was like, ‘What do you mean he’s not following?’
“And then suddenly, as a mother, your heart just starts palpitating.”
She said the doctor, who is a gynaecologist, was concerned and sent her off to a paediatrician. After a series of tests in Nigeria and abroad, it was confirmed that her son, David Asuquo cannot see with his physical eyes.
She said the experience made her question her spiritual strength. However, in spite of all that has happened, she said she believes she is making progress which is why she can finally share her story in the open.
David Asuquo, 7, is an excellent pianist just like his famous father Cobhams Asuquo, who was also born blind.

Mrs Abigael Shona, a medical expert, has peculiarly stated that breastfeeding a baby and not men could prevent breast cancer in women.
Shona spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ilorin and said that contrary to popular belief that men sucking their wife’s breasts could prevent breast cancer, it could only help detect it.
She said mothers who breastfeed lower their risk of pre- and post-menopausal breast cancer.
“Most women who breastfeed experience hormonal changes during lactation that delay their menstrual periods.
“This reduces a woman’s lifetime exposure to hormones like estrogen, which can promote breast cancer cell growth.
“And what sucking the breast by a man can only do is to detect breast cancer by feeling the lumps early enough so as to seek medical help,” Shona said.
She, however, said it was encouraged that women allow their spouses to massage and handle their breasts to detect cancer early.
“We are encouraging women not to deprive their husbands from the pleasure of breast sucking and handling as it will also be beneficial to them.
“This is because in as much as we preach self examination by women for early detection, most women don’t do it.
“So, if they allow their husbands help them with it, it will help a lot because early detection is the major panacea to address the scourge.
“If breast cancer is detected early before it gets to an advanced stage, it could be survived,” Shona said.
The medical expert, however, noted that men can also have breast cancer, advising them to also be on the look out.
The Nigerian Federal Government seems to be unperturbed by the widespread condemnation of the current border closure, as it has categorically stated that the exercise will remain until neighbouring countries respect the laws of Nigeria against food smuggling.
This is even as he ruled out hunger issues affecting Nigerians, claiming that Nigeria is food sufficient.
On August 20, 2019, Nigeria closed her borders in four geopolitical zones across the country: South-South, South-West, North-Central and North-West.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, who spoke at a press briefing to mark the 2019 World Food Day, in Abuja, argued that it was laughable when Nigerians cry of hunger, because, according to him, they do not know what hunger is all about.
According to him, the problem of overweight or obesity could be attributed to the lack of exercise and not lack of the intake of a balanced diet.
“I think so long as these bordering countries do not respect our protocols on these very important issues of bringing food into Nigeria, border closure will remain.
“I think we are producing enough food to feed ourselves. There is no hunger in the country and when people talk about hunger I just laugh because they do not know hunger. They need to go to other countries to know what hunger is all about.
“If you say I miss my breakfast and I get lunch and dinner, then that is alright.”
He continued,
“Part of the problem of overweight is not necessarily the issue of a balanced diet, but some of us stay put without knowing that Nigeria used to be a former zone for migration in the sub-Sahara Africa.
“The problem of obesity is not necessarily the issue of a balanced diet but because some of us just decide to stay without doing exercise often,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Country Representative of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FOA), Suffyan Koroma, has appealed to the government to adopt policies to prioritise the availability and affordability of safe nutrition because of the increase of malnutrition.
“One in three children is stunted and underweight is currently at 19.9%, which is higher than the globally accepted numbers,” he added.
