First lady of Ekiti State, Bisi Fayemi has said she’s appalled by the number of women who have come out to shame and condemn wife of singer, Timi Dakolo, who not too long ago accused Senior Pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly COZA, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, of raping her when she was 17.
In an article she shared online, Mrs Fayemi says the culture of shaming rape victims and forcing them to silence their pain in Nigeria must stop.
In her own opinion,
“any adult who has a sexual relationship with a girl under the age of 18 is committing statutory rape, there is not such thing as consensual sex with a minor”.
Addressing the backlash Busola has received for speaking about the rape incident 20 years after, Mrs Fayemi wrote,
“Over and over, supporters of the Pastor and some who claimed neutrality kept asking why Busola decided to speak up twenty years after the rape took place. Why is she speaking out now? Why did she not say something at the time? I could not believe some of the things people were saying, including those who ought to know better. Busola Dakolo and her husband Timi received unprecedented support for their bravery, the court of public opinion seems to be in their favour. However, I could not help but wonder how we got to where we are, a society blissfully unaware of the war that has been waged consistently on the bodies of women and girls from one generation to the next. Women don’t talk about what happened to them as girls or as adults because of the implications – shame, stigma, punishment, rejection. I am even more appalled at the number of women who have added their voices in the shaming of Busola. If you cannot say anything to support another woman in pain, say nothing. Keep quiet. If you are a fan of the accused Pastor, support him if you want, but you don’t have to call his accuser names.
Mrs Fayemi went on to share stories of how she was almost abused when she was a child and how her gut as a child and her mother’s immediate stand saved her from being a victim.
When I was ten years old, my mother brought a male teenage relative to live with us to help around the house. His name was Sina. He slept on a mattress on the floor with my younger brother, while I was on the bed with one of my young Aunts. One night, before I fell asleep, I felt my bed covers being pulled. I pulled them back up. It happened again and I did the same thing. The third time, I allowed the covers to be pulled off totally to be sure I was not making a mistake. I sat up and asked Sina what he was doing. He said ‘nothing’. I stayed awake for most of the night. First thing in the morning, I went to tell my mother. She did not yell at me. She did not scream and call me a liar. By the time I got back from school, Sina was gone and we never saw him again. We never had any male relatives live with us after that.
When I was in secondary school and home for the holidays, I was around thirteen at the time, I told my father I wanted to learn how to swim. There was this young man who lived next door, he used to run errands for my father, we called him Brother Lai. My father asked Brother Lai to take me and my Aunt to Airport Hotel, Ikeja, to teach us how to swim. My first swimming lesson was my last. Brother Lai held me from behind, teaching me how to kick my feet under the water, while at the same time pressing himself against me and touching me inappropriately. When I asked him why he was doing that, he asked, ‘Can’t I play with you’? The next day, when he came around for us to go for the next lesson, I refused. I never told my parents what happened, I just mumbled something about not liking water. I was afraid of causing trouble. I did not want Brother Lai to be sent away on my account, the same way Sina was frog marched to the motor park by my mother. I did not want my parents to think I was in some way encouraging these men to be inappropriate towards me. So, I said nothing, and just stayed out of Brother Lai’s way. Brother Lai had never given any indication that he was anything other than a respected older brother figure. I was however literally placed in his hands and he saw an opportunity and took advantage of it. That is what predators do, they wait for opportunities to present themselves and then they abuse trust and innocence. With hindsight, I shudder at the naivety of my trusting parents. I however learnt to appreciate my mother’s response to my claims, it could have gone differently. What if my mother had not believed me? What if Brother Lai had come into our house and I had let him in, and he had proceeded to attack me in my own home?
Pastor Biodun has since stepped down as the senior pastor of COZA. Busola on her part has reported the case to the police.
Hollywood actor, Kevin Hart seems to have had a little bit too much to drink at his 40th birthday party which held over the weekend.
The actor cum comedian was so drunk that he had to be carried out on his wife’s back.

He had to lean on the back of his wife, Eniko Parrish Hart, as they left his party at TAO in Los Angeles.
Once the two got safely into the car, Kevin seemed to doze off immediately.
Controversial investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has shared in a new post that a member of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has being begging her not to reveal the truth about Pastor Fatoyinbo and Busola Dakolo rape allegation case.
She also stated that if she reveals the truth it will damage three churches in Nigeria. She wrote alongside a video on her page,
STOP ACCUSING ME OF LIES! STOP READING BLOGS ON #COZA CASE.
This Investigation is more complicated than you all think. This is a conspiracy where another Pastor who knows the truth and a member of CAN is appealing to me NOT to reveal the truth. This case may potentially damage three churches. A WARNING to Bloggers that I also gave to newspapers: This story is far from Entertainment. It is a CRIME STORY where both parties are accusing the other of CRIMES. Police sources are not going to be used like the one who spoke to Nation. PPRO officers is who I’m depending on. Anyone at House of the Rock church the Dakolos attend should contact me at [email protected] with newstips.

Olunloyo also had a go at those who are dropping negative comments on her page concerning the case, as she calls them unintelligent.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has warned of an impending plague in Nigeria if the shedding of innocent blood in the country continues.
Adeboye said this during the Church’s July Holy Ghost Service held Friday night at the Redemption Camp and broadcast in the church’s parishes in Nigeria and 197 other countries.
During his sermon with the theme: “Swimming in Glory” and subtitled “Born to be great,” the pastor, while speaking on national issues, said too much shedding of innocent blood in a country is likely to lead to a plague
The Cleric further urged the church to continue praying for bloodshed and killings to stop.
“Blood is powerful, blood has a voice and it speaks. When the ground is saturated with the blood of innocent people, the ground speaks.
“Nigerians should pray for the killings to stop before the blood-soaked ground responds.
“When innocent blood is shed it goes into the ground and too much of it makes the ground respond in the form of plagues,” he said.
While speaking yesterday at COZA in Abuja, wife of embattled Church Founder, Modele Fatoyinbo stated that anyone who does not celebrate her husband is not her friend.
Recall that Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo stepped down as the Senior Pastor of the church last week, days after he denied the rape allegation against him by Busola Dakolo.
Modele Fatoyinbo who spoke at the church’s service on Sunday, maintained that her husband is the “father” of all COZA churches.
“I’m not your friend if you don’t celebrate this man. One of the things that I say about my husband is that I would have never had the opportunity — I used to be so shy to talk to one person. I used to let him do all the talking because I was a very introverted person.
“But he was able to help me see, like he was able to help a lot of us see, that there was greatness in me. So, I don’t have a problem standing before you this morning. The Lagos church, the Ilorin church, the Port Harcourt church — anywhere he is, Pastor Biodun is the father of that church. I’m not your friend if you don’t celebrate this man” she said.

Soon after the reports of her getting a new whip hit the internet, a car dealer took to dissolving the report by stating that she didn’t actually buy the car but only claimed to do so for clout.
The dealer took to their page to share the same photos Nkechi had shared on her page to reveal that she didn’t actually buy the car… They also shared screenshots of their chat with the actress over the issue.

Enoch Adeboye, the leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has admonished upcoming leaders of the pentecostal movement to exercise ethical discretion over their sexual proclivities, saying he declined hiring a female secretary as one of the precautions against potential rape allegations, Premium Times reports.
“When you find yourself facing youthful lust, flee,” Mr Adeboye said Friday. “You may say I’m old fashioned, I agree. I’ll never have a private secretary who’s a woman.”
Mr Adeboye’s comments, delivered at a monthly programme of the church Friday night, marked his first public reaction to the latest rape scandal to consume a famous preacher and founder of one of Nigeria’s biggest churches.
Biodun Fatoyinbo was accused last month of violent sexual misconduct by Busola Dakolo, a former member of his Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA. Mrs Dakolo’s allegations, recounted in a video interview with YNaija, sparked wholesale condemnations and protests for the preacher’s resignation.
Mr Adeboye, 77, and popular across all segments of the Nigerian society, declined to directly mention Mr Fatoyinbo in his sermon, but said he was compelled to address the issues around the scandal, nonetheless.
He also acknowledged the authority of both the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria to directly address allegations of sexual violence and misconduct against pastors.
The Christian bodies have come under public pressure to demand better accountability from their member churches amidst growing allegations of misconduct against senior preachers, including Suleiman Johnson and Temitope Joshua. They all denied the allegations.
Both associations have made passing remarks about Mr Fatoyinbo’s scandal, but appeared incapable of exerting any disciplinary measures over the preacher, who resigned voluntarily on Monday despite denying the allegations.
But “I feel compelled to say some things to those that are young and up and coming ministers,” Mr Adeboye said, according to a transcript of the programme posted on Twitter. “There is nothing hid that shall not come to the open or made manifest. Mark 4:22.”
Mr Adeboye said young preachers should take extra safeguards around women — especially those out to ensnare them — because they would be less believed by the public should any claim of misconduct break out.
“When a woman accuses you of something, nobody will listen to you whether you’re right or wrong,” he said. “Be wise!”
Mr Adeboye said his advise may sound too outdated to the younger generation, but that it had worked for him since he was ordained in 1975.
“It is better to be old fashioned and live than modern and die,” he said.
Although most of Nigeria’s major preachers have continued to avoid publicly commenting on the rape allegations, Mr Adeboye has widened the list of those who have spoken out.
Earlier this week, two Lagos-based preachers, Sam Adeyemi and Poju Oyemade, sympathised with alleged rape victims of Mr Fatoyinbo and other colleagues in Christ, and called on pastors to be more scrupulous on their relationship with female followers.
The manner in which a 52-year-old man, Sadek Ebrahim died has shocked a lot of people across social media – he reportedly died after a maggot infestation in the mouth.
The deceased who was a patient at RK Khan Hospital in Chatsworth, South of Durban, had suffered a major stroke in 2014, which left him unable to move and talk. He died on Wednesday after he was admitted at the public hospital on June 19.
South Africa’s department of health are now calling for an investigation into his death, which was as a result of maggot infestation in the mouth.
Speaking to Timeslive, Sadek’s son Azaad, said his father’s death could have been avoided.
“We initially took him to RK Khan on May 14 after a sore, about the size of a R2 coin, had formed near his ankle and we saw maggots coming out of it. We waited from 1pm to about 9:30pm before he was treated. The stench from the wound was unreal.”
“When we eventually saw the surgeon he cleaned up my father’s ankle to the extent that there was an open wound and you could see the bone. They sent us home and told us everything should be fine.”
“On June 19 we took him back to the hospital because his leg had turned black – we knew that they were going to need to amputate his leg. The doctors told us that because of his poor health, he would have a 50% chance of surviving the operation.
“When I got to the hospital on June 23 after his operation, the night before I saw a bunch of doctors standing outside his room – he had been isolated in his own room. They told me he had survived the operation but now had a 80/20 chance of survival.”
“My uncle and I were feeding him and I saw that his upper lip was swollen. When I looked inside his mouth that’s when I saw all those maggots inside his mouth – I completely lost it.
“When I came back inside after about 30 minutes I saw that the nursing staff had still not attended to my father and cleaned him. How can a human being be treated like that? That was my father, his pride was dragged through the mud.”
“I know [public hospitals] are overcrowded and have a lot of patients to deal with, but how can someone not notice that? The man could not talk or ask for help, should he have not received a little more care?”
Azaad who was spotted in the video, shouting and calling for hospital authorities to account for what they had found, revealed that he had a meeting with the hospital CEO Dr Prakash Subban on Monday and questioned him about the maggots. “I asked him why there were maggots in my father’s mouth, he couldn’t answer me.”
Dr Subban on Friday confirmed his meeting with Azaad. He said;
“I listened to him and it’s not that I couldn’t provide him with answers, it’s just that we needed to have conducted our own investigations into the matter, I could not speak off the cuff. We have conducted our own preliminary investigation and the department are conducting their own.”
Nigeria captain, John Obi Mikel would miss the remainder of the country’s campaign at the on-going 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Mikel strained his knee in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 loss to Madagascar and was replaced by Alex Iwobi in the 59th minute. After several checks by the medical staff, it has confirmed that he will be out of their Round of 16 clash, and the 32-year-old could miss the rest of the championship.
While coach, Gernot Rohr remained vague as to the extent of the injury, it was understood that the problem is not a severe one, but the German will not risk exacerbating the injury. Therefore, the new Trabzonspor signing may not feature again in Egypt.
This setback will come as a blow to the former Chelsea man, who earlier revealed Egypt 2019 could be his last AFCON.
