The long arms of the law has finally gripped a priest in the Methodist Church, identified as Rev. Peter Adegoke Adewuyi for faking his own kidnap with the intention of making his church members and other concerned individuals pay a ransom.

The Ekiti State Police Command who effected his arrest, also picked up one Sunday Oluwadare Adewole who was helping the priest in making calls to unsuspecting members of the public to demand ransom.

The culprit, who is 31-year-old was said to have perfected his evil plans by lodging in a hotel in Ado-Ekiti and hid from public view from where he and his accomplice were making calls to the members of the public to pay ransom for his release.

He claimed that his ‘captors’ demanded N3 million ‘ransom’ before he could regain his freedom. The development reportedly threw his church into confusion with members raising cash to pay the ransom for what turned out to be fake kidnap saga.

The phoney kidnap stunt was busted by the Police who intercepted and arrested the holder of the phone with GSM Number: 09078589516, with which the N3 million ransom was being demanded.

Unknown to the priest, he was being tracked to a location near First Bank in Okeyinmi area of Ado Ekiti, where he went to pick the ransom. While being interrogated by the Police, Adewuyi confessed to have masterminded his own ‘kidnap.

The priest also confessed that he lodged at a hotel during the period of his self enforced disappearance from the public.

The two suspects are presently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the State Police Headquarters.

A 29-year-old student of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin-Kebbi, and resident of Badariya area identified as Solomon Benedict, has committed suicide over his financial plight.

According to reports, Benedict allegedly mixed some substances believed to be insecticide with yogurt and drank it. His friends were unable to rescue him until his condition became worse.

Speaking with newsmen on Tuesday, one of his friends said:

“We noticed he was no longer at ease. He was holding his tummy and we later learnt that he pour some insecticide into his drink. He died before we could stop him.”

It was gathered that Solomon died as his friends were rushing him to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

A female friend of the deceased in Jega town, also said

“For some time now, he had been telling me he would kill himself if his financial situation did not improve. But I never believed he meant it. I remember whenever he visited me at Jega, he always lamented over his financial predicament and I would give him some money to transport himself back to Birnin Kebbi and thereafter he would tell me he would kill himself one day if his situation failed to improve. I was shocked when a friend called me from Sokoto that Solomon had killed himself.”

Kebbi State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Tuesday

“Yes, we are aware of the incident. The boy was 29 years old. He committed suicide at Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi” he said.

Meanwhile, a friend, James Peters took to Facebook to mourn the deceased. He wrote:

“God!!!!!! This life is very short… We can’t ask God why, You re the all knowing God, you knw best, only You Lord knw wat he was passing through. We beseech dat lord u have mercy on his soul, plz don’t look at the wrongs he has Don whole still on earth….

Lord plz use all the good deeds he has Don to judge him… Have mercy on us all Lord… Rest in Peace Solomon Benny…

A Yobe High Court on Tuesday sentenced an applicant, Muhammed Adamu, to death by hanging for killing his girlfriend, Hauwa Muhammad, 24.

Delivering judgment, Justice A. Jauro, held that he found him guilty of murder under Section 221 of the Penal Code.

Jauro held that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that Hauwa was intentionally killed by the convict.

The judge ruled, ”by virtues of section 273 Criminal Procedural Code, when a person is sentenced to death, he be hanged by the neck to death.

“I therefore sentence you that Muhammed Adamu to die by hanging. May God have mercy on you” , said Jauro.

Speaking to newsmen after the judgment, defence counsel, Mr M. Dauda, said that he would carefully study the verdict and possibly file an appeal.

Also speaking to newsmen, the convict said:” I have been praying to God for the best judgment.

”I believe that it is the will of God for me and I believe this verdict is God’s choice. I whole heatedly accept it”.

On June 5, 2018, the Police in Yobe alleged that Adamu killed his girlfriend, Hauwa, on May 29, 2018, during an altercation.

US activist, Candace Owen has admitted that she discovered too late that feminism is a scam and is not about uplifting women but tearing women down.

Ms.Candace made her opinion known as she kicked off Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit in Texas.

“What the left is really good at doing is hijacking a term that once meant something and pretending that it’s still the same thing when, in fact, it’s not,” Owens said.

She told the crowd about an upsetting comment she read online after having a conversation on the dangers of feminism with Allie Beth Stuckey.

According to her, the comment was from a 55-year-old woman who said she fell for the modern day feminist lies, leaving her with no children and forcing her to take medication regularly.

‘I learnt too late that feminism was a scam. Today i’am 55, i am unmarried, i have passed the age i can have children & i have to take medicines to help keep me happy, i am on my medication and that is the scam of feminism.

“If there’s anything I could go back and do, I would’ve warned myself against the scam of feminism,” the woman wrote.

Owens also mentioned a number of far-left feminist icons in Hollywood, including Lena Dunham, Miley Cyrus, and Chelsea Handler.

“I believe these voices like Lena Dunham, and Miley Cyrus, and Chelsea Handler are convincing women against themselves, telling women, ‘You don’t need a man. You don’t need anyone. You should want to do everything by yourself. And if you do aspire to that — if you aspire toward nature — then something’s wrong with you,’” Owens said.
