“Stop justifying fraud and cyber-crime” – Actress, Foluke Daramola tells Nigerians after Naira Marley’s saga

In light of the arrest and arraignment of Nigerian singer, Naira Marley on allegations of fraud and cybercrime, Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola has appealed to Nigerians to desist from justifying the cyber crime.

In a video shared on her Instagram page this morning, Foluke says the fact that there is no money in circulation does not in anyway justify anyone committing fraud just to make money.

According to her,

“Sometimes I wonder how our people think. One thing I want us to know is that two wrongs don’t make a right. Just because there is no money in the country, there is no work does not justify corruption, does not justify evil. Because our politicians are doing it does not make it right for us to do it. It is really sad when we try to paint bad as good. I don;t want to mention names and I am not going to tag anybody. We should under stand the implications, the depth of what we do”

As the final season of a decade-long series, came to a conclusion last Sunday, with millions of viewers having different reactions to it, Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage has revealed she’s never seen the series.

The final episode of “Game of Thrones” brought in a series record of 19.3 million viewers and among these million of viewers, Mummy Jamil was not one of them.

She apparently prides herself among the calibre of people who say they’re “part of the 1% of the world’s population who never seen a single episode of the series”.

The 39-year-old singer revealed this known in a post on InstaStories on Tuesday, where she wrote,

“I must be the ONLY one who hasn’t watched GOT,” she wrote.

Federal Government announces plans to stop ownership of gas cylinders by consumers

The Federal Government has hinted on its plans to establish a policy that will remove the ownership of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (cooking gas) cylinders from consumers.

The FG stated that the move would help deepen the use of LPG, popularly known as cooking gas, stating that the government had reached an agreement with two original cylinder manufacturers to deliver 600,000 cylinders to LPG distributors on credit, with a pre-payment period of 18 months.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ forum on LPG penetration in Abuja on Tuesday, the Senior Technical Assistant to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources on Downstream and Infrastructure, Brenda Ataga, noted that the planned policy on gas cylinders would require that the ownership of the facility “rests strictly on the dealers and distributors.”

She noted that aside from deepening the penetration and usage of LPG across the country, the policy would also address issues of safety.

She said the Federal Government would soon commence a clampdown on illegal roadside LPG dealers and urged operators to immediately convert their outlets to micro distribution centres before the beginning of the enforcement.

“The MDCs will essentially create and introduce into the market what we call the cylinder exchange programme, whereby the cylinders are owned by the distributors,” Ataga said. She told operators, “There is no need for you to decant for anybody that comes in, and that eliminates illegal risks as well. You would fill them at the refill plants that would be tied to you and exchange it with your customers because you know your customers already. “Your customers pay for only the content, while you own the cylinders and control the management of those cylinders.”

Providing reasons for the policy, Ataga said;

“It is for us to be able to, at any point in time, discern and discover cylinders that are bad, cylinders that need recertification and cylinders that need to be removed from circulation.

“We put that onus on distributors going forward, to support the safe and standard method of selling LPG. I tell you today that Nigeria is the only country in West Africa that does not practice the re-circulation model. Everyone has moved away from this because again, most of the population cannot afford cylinders; so, you have to remove that cost from them.”

United states based Nigerian actress, Georgina Onuoha has waded in to the trending report of singer, Naira Marley’s arraignment last Monday, May 20th.

In a post shared on her Instagram page, the proud mother stressed that she does not in anyway condone fraud but however appealed to the court to temper justice with mercy.

Onuoha adds that she wishes the EFCC would arrest politicians that have been proven to embezzle the National treasury same way they arrested Naira Marley.

Man breaks down in tears after he’s sentenced to eight months in prison for N1.4 million fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office, has secured the conviction of one Adebunmi Raheem Adisa.

Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court, sitting in Ibadan, on Monday, convicted and sentenced Adisa to eight months in prison.

The convict, who was earlier arraigned on May 22, 2018 before Justice Munta Abimbola, the Oyo State Chief Judge and presiding jurist in Court 1, was originally facing nine-count offences that border on obtaining money by false pretense and forgery.

The offence is contrary to section 1(2) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related (Offences) Act, 2006 and Punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act, while the latter contravenes Section 467 of the Criminal Code.

Due to the exigencies of time, his case was transferred to Justice Akintola’s Court 9, where he was eventually convicted. Before the Monday session, Adisa had approached the prosecution for a plea bargain.

The request was granted and the two sides settled for a re-arraignment on a one-count amended charge upon which he was jailed. As part of the conditions for the acceptance of the plea bargain, the convict has restituted to the victim of his fraud the sum of N1,405,000 (One Million Four Hundred and Five Thousand Naira).

An inconsolable mother broke down during her testimony on Monday at the death penalty trial of her ex-husband who is charged with killing their five young children.

According to a report by Daily mail, as part of her testimony, Amber Kyzer, read a letter she wrote to her oldest child, Merah Jones, who she had tried to comfort over the divorce and the pain of suddenly being in a broken home.

‘You kids are my world and Mommy and Daddy were really blessed to have you’ Kyzer said, pausing, then burying her head in her hands on the witness stand and breaking into heaving sobs.

‘Oh god. Oh god. My babies. My babies,’ Kyzer cried as the judge rushed to get the jury out of the courtroom. Kyzer’s ex-husband on trial for his life, Timothy Jones Jr, stood up and looked at her, but showed no emotion.

Kyzer testified in the sixth day of Jones’ death penalty trial. Jones, 37, who is charged with five counts of murder, has plead guilty by reason of insanity.

His lawyers don’t dispute that he killed the children, but they are trying to have him found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Prosecutors said he killed six-year-old Nahtahn in a rage after finding the boy, fascinated by electricity, had broken an outlet in their home near Lexington in August 2014.

Jones then strangled eight-year-old Merah and seven-year-old Elias with his hands and two-year-old Gabriel and one-year-old Abigail with a belt, prosecutors said.

After killing the children, authorities said Jones wrapped their bodies in plastic and put them in his SUV, driving aimlessly around the Southeast US for most of nine days before leaving their bodies on a hilltop in Camden, Alabama.

Jones was arrested at a Smith County, Mississippi, traffic checkpoint, where an officer testified he recognized a strong odor coming from the car he recognized as ‘the smell of death’.

President Buhari returns to Abuja from Saudi Arabia

Head of states, President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the country from Saudi Arabia, where he had been the past few days to perform lesser Hajj.

Buhari’s plane arrived around 6:30 pm at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The President left the country last week Thursday to Saudi Arabia to perform the Muslim Umrah. The visit was also to honour the invitation from King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the ruler of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to perform the Umrah.

The President is expected to preside over the valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday.

HipHop star, Cardi B has been left with no choice than to cancel the rest of her concerts for this month as a result of her plastic surgery procedures but will be back on stage in June.

Her publicist in a statement said,

“Cardi was overzealous in getting back to work. She didn’t take the time necessary to fully recover. Her strenuous schedule has taken a toll on her body and now has been given strict doctors orders to pull out the rest of her performances in May.”

According to TMZ, the rapper backed out of Baltimore’s 92Q Spring Bling Festival this Friday because of some serious fallout from her recent cosmetic surgeries.

Earlier this month, she confessed to getting liposuction after daughter Kulture’s birth, and told fans during a show in Memphis at the time, “I shouldn’t really be performing because moving too much is gonna f—k up my lipo.”

Two Lautech students die

A fatal motor crash has claimed the lives of about four people, including two 400 level students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

Dr. Sleem and Young Prof, both 400 level students of the said institution, were reportedly driving to school for their farm work when they were involved in a fatal accident.

According to Lautech Portal, six students were in the Toyota Camry when it collided with a truck along the Old Ilorin Road, Aroje, during a heavy downpour this morning. Two of the students died, the other four are currently battling for their lives.

EFCC arrests eight Internet

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in lagos has arrested eight suspected fraudsters for an alleged involvement in internet crime.

A statement from the agency gave the names of the suspects as Adesanmi Abiodun, Olasupo Emmanuel, Segun Amudah, Aina Oladipo, Babatunde Olawuyi, Oluwaseyi Emmanuel Fagbemiro, Felix Onyebuchi and Abdulazeez Ismaila.

The suspects were arrested on tuesday, May 21st in the Forthright Estate, Magboro area of Lagos State. Their arrest followed intelligence report received by the Commission.

Items recovered from the suspects include exotic cars, phones and laptops.

“Ghana music industry hate me so much” – Shatta Wale says

Controversial Ghanaian dancehall singer, Shatta Wale has said that the music industry in his country hate him so much despite love from fans.

The singer made this known few days after he had a fracas with fellow dancehall singer, Stonebwoy at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, 18 May 2019.

“Ghana loves me but the music industry and its players hate me so much that they wish I never played any hit song again but [the] laws of Ghana will work …,” Shatta Wale tweeted after the show.

The fracas started after Stonebwoy was announced Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year, then Shatta Wale and his crew approached the podium to congratulate him, but Stonebwoy would have none of it as the situation became a fracas that had him pull out a gun.

Stonebwoy later apologized for his actions,

“I’m sorry for the incident that happened earlier. I only had to react out of natural instincts because we all know how premeditative some people can be. We’ve seen on social media the threats and everything, so, we couldn’t come in unprepared because anything could have happened as you guys saw. I come in peace and I go in peace and I apologise to the whole of Ghana…” Stonebwoy said on stage when he picked his second award of the night after the show had resumed following the fracas.

House of Representatives pass bill abolishing HND/BSc dichotomy

The House of Representatives has passed a bill that abolishes the existing dichotomy between higher national diploma (HND) and bachelor’s of science (BSc) degree holders in the country.

The bill which was sponsored by Ali Isa and Edward Pwajok from Gombe and Plateau states respectively, prohibits the dichotomy and discrimination between first degree holders and HND in the same profession, especially those in the public service.

Honorable Pwajok who also sponsored the bill, said the discrimination between University degree holders and HND holders was morally unjust.

According to him, there is a lot of segregation at employment level as those with first degree are placed on grade level 8, while those with HND are placed on grade level 6 or 7. He added that University degree holders are placed on N100, 000 on entry level while their HND counterparts are placed on N70, 000 salary.

A man who disguised as a soldier and attacked veteran singer, Baba Fryo has been arrested.

Recall On Sunday, May 19, 2019, veteran musician, Friday Igweh aka Baba Fryo, shared photos of his bloodstained face after he was attacked by fake soldiers in Lagos state. (Read here).

Sharing the photo of the culprit in handcuff, Baba Fryo wrote;

Lauretta Onochie has replied former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on his defamatory claim and demand of N500M.

Atiku’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), had in a letter to Onochie on Sunday, demanded five hundred million Naira, (N500m) and a written apology in six national and one international daily, as well as on all social media platforms wherein the said publication was made.

Mrs. Onochie who is the social media aide for President Buhari has now dismissed the letter from Atiku’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome(SAN), describing it as a deliberate ploy to make her lose focus as the legal battle to unseat President Buhari gets intense.

One of the reasons why I can never date for money is because of the CBN Bank Consolidation in 2005. My parents were both bankers. My dad had just moved from UBA to Savannah Bank with all the nice office perks, cars etc while my Mum was in charge of payroll at Hallmark Bank.

If someone had told me that both of them would lose their jobs within the same period, that we would lose all the finest material things, that my Mum would have to support the whole family with N40,000/month working at a fast food, I would have laughed hard at them. Every night, both of them would watch 10 o’clock news hoping to get news of any form of respite. I lost count of how many shares my Dad made me sign when he was still at UBA. All of them plummeted.

Life is not like the Weather Channel, it does not give you forecast. The Bank consolidation was so bad that i changed school 3 times within 6 years because of expensive school fees. This is why i love the NY subway. It has to be the most diverse platform in the whole earth. You can’t tell who is a rich man or not. New Yorkers don’t drive cars. All of you are huddled together, you overhear conversations and you learn a lot of things.

It was in these trains & recreational centers that i discovered that for most of them, money is not top 3 attributes they want in a partner. Why put your hope in a relatiosnhip when one second at the New York Stock Exchange can make a rich man turn a chruch rat? This is why when i see a lot of tweets here and i just go like “Hehehe…you dunno…eventuarry”. Some of our parents have gone through or are going through this tough phase and we never take a lesson or two. Hehehe…eventuarry.

P.S: My family and I are doing very fine now. Thanks for your thoughts. So to my fellow single KINGS, I don’t need to stress how a good woman is very important in our lives. We will find her, we will marry her and we will cherish her. Udo di.

The final episode of popular show, Game of Thrones aired last night and fans had their expectations dashed as it went unpredictably away from what was expected.

However, not minding the criticisms, Emilia Clarke who played the role of Danerys Targryen believes the show ended appropriately.


“After 10 years of working on this show, it’s logical. Where else can she go?” she told Entertainment Weekly.

“I tried to think what the ending will be. It’s not like she’s suddenly going to go, ‘Okay, I’m gonna put a kettle on and put cookies in the oven and we’ll just sit down and have a lovely time and pop a few kids out.’ That was never going to happen. She’s a Targaryen.”

“She’s too far down the line. She’s killed so many people already. I can’t turn this ship around. It’s too much,” she added.

“One by one, you see all these strings being cut. And there’s just this last thread she’s holding onto: There’s this boy. And she thinks, ‘He loves me, and I think that’s enough.’… it’s just that hope and wishing that finally there is someone who accepts her for everything she is and … he f—king doesn’t.”

“I stand by Daenerys,” declared Clarke. “I stand by her! I can’t not.”

The last episode came with a fair well message from her:

“Finding the words to write this post has left me overwhelmed with how much I want to say but how small words feel in comparison to what this show and Dany have meant to me,” she wrote.
