Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye better known as Mr. P, says he has no regret leaving the Psquare team he once shared with Paul Okoye, his twin brother, to pursue a solo career.
Mr P, who said this while speaking with Cool FM, added that going solo provided him ample time to invest in multiple businesses without giving up his relevance in the music space.
“Being independent at the moment comes with a lot of impacts…I am opportuned to do a lot of things right now. Apart from being a musician, I am into real estate. I have launched my lottery platform. It is called zoom. It came out two months ago. Every month I give out two million naira to four individuals,” the singer said.
The award-winning singer and dancer, who revealed that he has a clothing line and a beverage factory in the pipeline, also said as a solo artist, he now spends more time with his family.
“I can decide when not to travel or go do anything and enjoy my family time. Not the one that my kids would go on family holidays and I can’t go because when I am going, they’ll say we have a show. Now I can decide,” he said.
“Am doing a lot for myself now and I have no regret about it.”
The 37-year-old gifted singer recently released the visual for his latest single ‘One More Night’ where he teamed up with Niniola, Afro-house artiste.
Speaking on the collaboration, Mr P noted that he wrote the song back when he was still performing with his brother as Psquare.
He added that his decision to bring the Afro-House singer into the mix springs from the need to maintain his originality, and create an exciting yet fresh music piece.
“One More Night is older than every other song I have released. I did this song back in PSquare… I more like an R and B person, but the second verse of the song has a bit more of the Fuji. So I said, Peter if you want to start out this, be you. Because leaving the group and doing the same thing is a no! I wanted to cave out myself even if it doesn’t work out,” he said.
“At the moment, I have spent almost 20 years doing things for the people, now start doing it for yourself. So I had One More Night and said let me cool the situation down. So what I did was I removed the second verse and called Nini. And she did it. The song sounds all fresh in my ears again with a fantastic video, and amazing woman.”
A Catholic Priest has reportedly committed suicide after being accused of defiling a young girl.
According to reports, the cleric identified as Father Richard Bilé, a Catholic priest in service at the parish Saint Francis of Assisi D ‘ Affiénou (Maferé) in Ivory Coast, hanged himself over the case of paedophilia on the underage girl.
It was gathered that the church council met few days ago, and notified the priest, on Tuesday, April 23, of their decision to temporarily suspend him of any eucharistic office over the sexual molestation case.
After that, the cleric was said to have committed suicide.
Reports have it that this is not the first time the Reverend Father has been accused of paedophilia.
EFCC operatives from the Ibadan zonal office today Thursday, April 25th, arrested 32 suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo Boys.
A statement from the agency says the arrest of the suspects was not an easy task as most of them hid themselves in some ridiculous places in the house where they were arrested. Some of the suspects hid themselves inside chairs and the rest, but they were smoked out.
Aged between 15 and 39 years, the suspects were arrested at Liberty Estate, Laderin area of Abeokuta, Ogun during an early morning sting operation carried out by men of the commission.
Due to the timing, the suspects were taken by surprise when the EFCC operatives swept on them at one of their notorious havens in the ancient city.

Fourteen of them claimed to be undergraduates, while 18 others said they are self-employed in various vocations. Items recovered from them include six exotic cars, laptops, mobile phones, several documents containing false pretences and fetish objects.

A 13-year-old girl from Texas has died on Wednesday after falling into a coma following a violent altercation with two teen girls outside her middle school last week in which one girl kicked her in the head.
Kashala Francis, a student at Attucks Middle School in Houston, died five days after the attack while on life support at Texas Children’s Hospital.
It was there doctors discovered a large tumor in the back of her head and fluid build-up in her brain, her mother, Mamie Jackson told KTRK.
The seventh grader was walking home Thursday when two girls jumped her. In a video that surfaced of the fight, children can be heard laughing as at least one of the girls kicked Francis in the head about two blocks away from the school, Jackson told KTRK.
Francis returned home Thursday with bruises on her face but no other apparent injuries, her mother said. The girl briefly became delusional while staying the night at her aunt’s house Saturday and complained of severe headaches Sunday morning.
Jackson called 9-1-1 Sunday when her daughter lost consciousness, ABC News reported. Francis was rushed to the hospital where she fell into a coma.
Police said they are waiting for the results of an autopsy to determine if Francis’ death was caused by the fight, the tumor, or a combination of both.
The case is being investigated as a homicide but no arrests have been made pending the results of the report, Victor Senties, a spokesman for the Houston Police Department told ABC News.Yes

The Federal Government has said a series of strategies had already been perfected to flush out illegal lottery operators, especially those involved in Ponzi schemes, from the country.
The Permanent Secretary for Special Duties in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Festus Dauda, gave the hint in Abuja on Wednesday while with journalists after declaring open a two-day specialised training programme organised for members of staff of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission.
He said many people fell victim of the Ponzi scammers because many Nigerians regarded lottery as gambling especially in the Northern part of Nigeria. He said the game became popular with sports betting and promotion activities embarked upon by manufacturers and mobile network service providers.
He said, “the Federal Government is doing everything possible to make sure that the illegal operators and quacks in the industry are eliminated. That is why we have empowered the regulatory commission with modern technology that would enable them to apprehend all the illegal operators and quacks with a view to prosecuting and sending them to jail.
“Lottery is bigger than the oil industry that the nation has in stock, a lot of wealth that is yet to be tapped. I believe that we should focus our energy on lottery. I also believe that if the entire citizenry are well aware of the activities of lottery and the gains that are abound in it, the sky will be our starting point and lottery will even overtake the oil industry in contributing its quota to the treasury.
“The Federal Government is trying its best to make sure that lottery gets its rightful place so that we would be able to tap into the abundant resources that are there in lottery.”
The Director-General, NLRC, Lanre Gbajabiamila, explained that his agency was committed to enforcing the laws guiding lottery in the country and would ensure that the operators complied with the regulations. He said, “We still carried out some enforcement last week and we will continue to do that. We are actually after the online operators because many of them are operating illegally.
“We have signed a Memoradum of Understanding with the National Communications Commission to knock out any illegal operator that is not registered with the NLRC. The NCC has been mandated to shut down the illegal operators on our behalf. The Federal Government is losing billions of naira to the illegal operators.
“We are sanitising the industry because it will be unfair to allow the Ponzi scheme scammers to continue to defraud Nigerians. If we allow the scammers to continue, it will affect the operators. Our zonal offices across the country have been fully equipped to monitor the activities of the illegal operators.”
Gbajabiamila noted that lottery had advanced in terms of technology to the extent that it could be done on mobile phones anywhere rather than going to any retail centre to play it. “The economic impact of lottery cannot be over-emphasised. Lottery is still growing, it hasn’t reached its peak yet,” he added.

A Muslim woman has gone viral after she shared photos of herself posing in front of anti-Muslim protesters.
Shaymaa Ismaa’eel, 24, a behavioural therapist for children with autism went to the Islamic Circle of North America convention on Saturday and said the first thing she saw there was a group of men with signs protesting outside.
The protesters were bullying Muslims who passed by and told them they would go to hell.
Shaymaa said she decided to combat their hatred with kindness.
On day three of the convention, Shaymaa posed in front of the protesters and asked her friend Jamilah to take a photo of her. She was smiling in the photo and threw up a peace sign.
Speaking to BuzzFeed, Shaymaa said:
“I wanted them to see my face and walking by wasn’t enough. We were busy Saturday and they had left by the time things at the convention slowed down.
“I kept thinking about them during the workshops. ‘What if we had a loud speaker so they can hear the beautiful things we’re learning about our beloved prophet?!’ I kept thinking to myself.”
“My face honestly lit up when I had seen. I yelled to my friend Jamilah, ‘There they are! Can you take a picture?’

Late rapper, Nipsey Hussle’s mother has said she’s been communicating with her son, Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom via a psychic medium.

A gateman has rejected the offer of a house as parting gift from his Indian employer and instead requested for a borehole to be constructed for his community.
Musa Usman, who hails from Giljimmi, a Fulani settlement in Birniwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, lives with his family in a thatched house.
Usman, who has served the Indian national, who is the Managing Director of Jawa International Limited, a pharmaceutical company based in Lagos, was leaving his boss after 25 years of service, to join his family in the village.
When Usman was leaving, Mr. V. Verghese, MD of Jawa International Limited, decided to build a house for him in appreciation of his diligent service while he was his gateman.
However Usman, whose community is suffering from acute water shortage, rejected the offer of a house and in its place requested for the construction of a borehole for his people.
The people in Usman’s community, who hitherto had to trek long distance to fetch drinking water, are now relieved from the anguish of not only the long trek but also of drinking unclean water.
In his response, Usman thanked Mr. Verghese for the kind gesture, saying he had no regret rejecting the house offer.

President Buhari will today Thursday April 25th, proceed to the UK on a private visit.
A statement from Mr Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity said the president would pay official visit to Maiduguri from where he would proceed to the UK.
The presidential aide further revealed that President Buhari would return to Nigeria on May 5.
The statement read in part:
”Further to the official visit by President Muhammadu Buhari to Lagos Wednesday where he commissioned a number of projects executed by the State Government, the President is scheduled to depart for Maiduguri, the Borno State capital for another official visit Thursday. He is expected to commission developmental projects especially in the sectors of education, healthcare and roads.
”At the end of the visit, President Buhari will be proceeding to the United Kingdom on a private visit. He is expected to return to Nigeria on May 5, 2019.”

The Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi who debunked claims made by Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has stated that Oduduwa who is the founding father of the Yoruba tribe was not an Igbo prince.
Recall that the Ohanaeze Ndigbo in a statement, in reaction to the claim by the Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi that Igbo people originated from Ile-Ife, had claimed that Odudunwa (last-born), later called Oduduwa was an Igbo prince who occupied Ile-Ife but the Yoruba regarded him as a god because he was very powerful and had magical powers.
However Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi who told the Igbos to research on the adventure of their own Odudunwa, described the claim as false and misleading. The Oluwo of Iwo who stated that Oduduwa was not an Igbo prince, said in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary;
“The Yoruba nation was founded by Oduduwa. He brought the first civilisation, which is the crown. Oduduwa demontrated an unequalled leadership. He was shrewd, peculiar, unparalleled, unmatched, quintessential and different. He served his people and became a rallying point for his services to humanity. He gave us the best tradition, so respectful and obedient. The Yoruba culture is rich, very beautiful and unblemished. It emanated from Oduduwa.
“History is rich, necessary and must always be objective, because it is a foundation for the future. Worldwide, Yorubaland is the source of every natural crown. Our crowns are divinely ordained and sacred. It was brought by Oduduwa. And we owe him a duty to defend everything about him”
He further added that the fact that Oduduwa means last- born in the Igbo language, does not make anyone bearing a similar name Igbo-born.
