The Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi who debunked claims made by Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has stated that Oduduwa who is the founding father of the Yoruba tribe was not an Igbo prince.
Recall that the Ohanaeze Ndigbo in a statement, in reaction to the claim by the Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi that Igbo people originated from Ile-Ife, had claimed that Odudunwa (last-born), later called Oduduwa was an Igbo prince who occupied Ile-Ife but the Yoruba regarded him as a god because he was very powerful and had magical powers.
However Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi who told the Igbos to research on the adventure of their own Odudunwa, described the claim as false and misleading. The Oluwo of Iwo who stated that Oduduwa was not an Igbo prince, said in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary;
“The Yoruba nation was founded by Oduduwa. He brought the first civilisation, which is the crown. Oduduwa demontrated an unequalled leadership. He was shrewd, peculiar, unparalleled, unmatched, quintessential and different. He served his people and became a rallying point for his services to humanity. He gave us the best tradition, so respectful and obedient. The Yoruba culture is rich, very beautiful and unblemished. It emanated from Oduduwa.
“History is rich, necessary and must always be objective, because it is a foundation for the future. Worldwide, Yorubaland is the source of every natural crown. Our crowns are divinely ordained and sacred. It was brought by Oduduwa. And we owe him a duty to defend everything about him”
He further added that the fact that Oduduwa means last- born in the Igbo language, does not make anyone bearing a similar name Igbo-born.

Hundreds of drones will begin delivering life-saving vaccines, blood and medicines to patients in Ghana this week in the largest scheme of its kind, the global vaccine alliance (GAVI) said on Wednesday.
Medics will place orders by text message when supplies run dry, said GAVI Chief Executive, Seth Berkley.
Drones will then fly in from four distribution centres, hover over health posts and drop deliveries using tiny parachutes.
“The idea is that these four distribution centres can make up to 600 on-demand delivery flights a day. And that can expand up to 2,000 (a day) over time,’’ Berkley said.
The aim is for deliveries to arrive within 30 minutes, Berkley added, meaning emergency treatments such anti-snake venom or rabies shots could arrive in time to save lives.
The project – led by Zipline, a California-based robotics company – is designed to deliver to around 2,000 health facilities serving 12 million people across the West African country.
It is backed by the non-profits GAVI and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as several companies including the parcel delivery firm UPS and the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer.
Up to 12 routine and emergency vaccines will be available, including shots for yellow fever, polio, measles, meningitis and tetanus.
Others are 148 blood products and other critical medicines.
The drones fly autonomously and can carry up to 1.8 kilograms of cargo, GAVI said.
Zipline said a similar but smaller project had made more than 13,000 deliveries of blood products since it was launched in Rwanda in 2016 – about a third of them for emergency life-saving treatment.
Instagram blogger, Bold Pink has mocked Nollywood actor, IK Ogbonna who days ago, threatened to sue her over claims that he’s gay.
Few days after she made the claim, the actor took to social media with a notice calling on the US based blogger to retract her words and issue an apology or face legal actions.
He said at the time,
A free platform created for promotion and marketing has given people cheap voices to speak cheaply about people’s hard earned integrity. Most of those who wants us to come out with “who we truly are”…as they claim, have themselves nothing to show to anyone.
The noises are mostly made and heard from the empty barrels. We give attention to what is of value not what takes our attention from what is of no value.
And very soon, society must weed out the tares that prevent the wheat from standing out.” If u come with allegations pls come out of the closet with prove to ur allegation.
Now, Bold Pink has reacted with mockery after the 7-day ultimatum issued to her by the actor expired.

A man, Lee Hogben, who removed a condom while having sex with a prostitute has been sentence to 12 years in jail – the 35-year old was accused of raping his victim by removing a condom against her consent mid-intercourse.
She said he threatened her life when she tried to wriggle free and also told him “I don’t do that – please no” when he took off the condom.
The sex worker was contacted via an online site for adults – she made it clear to Lee that clients must wear protection. After agreeing on a price, they met at the Royal Bath Hotel in his hometown Bournemouth, Dorset, on January 19 last year.
However, he went against all the laid down conditions by having sex with her without protection and also never paid her for her services.
Prosecutor Jodie Mittell said when the sex worker resisted, Hogben threatened her with violence.
She said:
“Hogben went beyond what was consented to by removing the protection, which the complainant will say was a condition of intercourse.
She repeatedly protested, ‘I don’t do that – please, no’. She tried to wriggle away but he told her to stop. He told her he had beaten people up and robbed people.”
Hogben was arrested the following day after the victim left the hotel and reported to police.
Ghanaian prophet Livingston Kwame Frimpong has stated that a woman who nags will still get dumped even if she gets married to Jesus.
Livingston Kwame said this while speaking on the topic “Effects of nagging on a relationship” on ETV’s “In Bed With Adwen”, where he advised women to desist from nagging.
“Even if you marry Jesus Christ and you nag, He will leave you. There is nothing as frustrating as a poor disrespectful wife”, he said.
Continuing, the prophet stated that the habit of nagging was picked up by women from their mother.
“Some women grew up watching their mothers disrespect their fathers. So they are used to that behaviour. Their mothers insult their brothers and never apologise for such uncouth behaviour so they also carry it into their own matrimonial homes”, he added.
He went on to state that pastors are also in such situations with their wife.
“If pastors in Ghana are given the leeway to divorce their wives, the number of pastors who will rush to the divorce courts, you won’t believe it. Most pastors are stuck in their offices because of nagging wives”, he stated.

The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has come under attack over its comment on the proposed Muhammdu Buhari University.
Aisha Buhari had last Saturday during a townhall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, revealed plans to establish a university in honour of Buhari with partners from other countries.
Aisha, who did not reveal when or where the university would be sited, explained that it would be established in collaboration with partners from Sudan and Qatar.
President Buhari and his Wife, Aisha Buhari at the Presidential Victory Dinner
Reacting, ASUU lamented that the declaration was a sad reminder of the president’s continued reduction of budgetary allocation to the education sector since 2015.
ASUU Chairman, University of Ibadan chapter, called the proposed university a joke.
However, Scholars Without Boundary (SWB), faulted the position of the academic union on the yet-to-be established tertiary institution.
The group said such comment attributed to ASUU should only come from garage urchins and not academic body.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the scholars through its president, Ibrahim Taiwo, said it was worrisome that ASUU seems to have abandoned their major responsibilities of contributing their quota to the peace and development of Nigeria to the obsession with frivolities and diversionary irrational debates.
The group advised members of the union ASUU to rather dissipate their energies on productive engagements to assist in the development of Nigeria.
Read his speech below:
And least of all, to understand that the descent into this appalling level of unseriousness is coming from a section of the academia, which should ordinarily be an assemblage or community of intellectuals is a source of concern to all Nigerians.
The wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, recently announced at a Town Hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa state, her intention to partner with some foreign investors to establish a private university to be named after her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari.
This revelation sparked indefinable outrage in a section of ASUU, which meaninglessly condemned and pooh-poohed the idea, advancing very flimsy reasons. First, they wrongly aligned the idea of a private university from private investors as conflicting with the public office held by President Buhari.
The chairman, University of Ibadan chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (UI-ASUU) Professor Deji Omole, termed it a disaster and proceeded to slate the Federal Government of Nigeria over the proposed plan of a private university which will adopt the nomenclature of President Buhari.
In another interview, ASUU’s former national treasurer, Professor Ademola Aremu somewhat insanely advised Mrs. Buhari to influence policies in education for the President Buhari’s administration to revitalize public-funded education because universities are proliferated in the country.
Or how else, could one strike a nexus between establishment of a private university and its bearing with the Federal Government outside the approval for license? How does it conflict with public universities? Would the proposed university be funded with public funds? What is really the grouse of Omole and Aremu?
Hajia Aisha Buhari is not a government appointee under the government of President Buhari and she has not even the remotest connection or influence with government business. How does Professor Aremu expect her to officially influence policies in education?
To put it bluntly, the duo’s personalized criticisms of a proposed private university to be named after President Buhari, which they coat with the garments of ASUU is an assault on the sensibilities of Nigerians.
For academics to argue in this manner is disgraceful to Nigeria’s intellectual community, because silence would have been more golden. We fear these so-called varsity dons didn’t even pass their own JAMB to have become lecturers and harbingers of knowledge. We suspect these are intellectual touts and not academics.
Regardless of whatever the likes of Omole and Aremu feels, and the hatred they delight in expressing against President Buhari, Nigeria has known him as a rare leader, unquestionably incorruptible and a leader with integrity. He is committed to the redemption and repositioning of Nigeria to an enviable height. His scorecard in public leadership cannot be obviated by the primordial and cynical thoughts of these dons.
Nigerians cherish President Buhari’s leadership for his focus and impact on curbing Boko Haram terrorism, insurgencies and insurrections in the country. Nigerians applaud Buhari for his resounding success in the anti-corruption war; re-fixing a recessed economy, restocking of Nigeria’s depleted foreign reserves, revitalization of the railways and diversification of the economy through agriculture among others. Buhari is leading the journey for the reclamation of Nigeria’s lost glory perfectly.
Nigerians have searched history, but have not found any former leader of the country in President Buhari’s mould. As Nigeria’s former Petroleum Minister, Military Head of State and now, two tenured democratic leader of the nation, President Buhari has no single national monument or institution named after him and he is not bothered. Naming a private university after him is the least of his concerns.
For a section of ASUU to begrudge the initiative of Buhari’s wife to partner with foreigners to establish and name a private university after him is a glaring attempt to provoke Nigerians. This is a private investment and the investors are not prohibited by any law in the land to give the university any name of their choice.
We advise these ASUU members to dissipate their energies on productive engagements to assist in the development of Nigeria. ASUU leadership should be more concerned with cleaning up the mess they have senselessly deposited in the university system in Nigeria through incessant feuds and strikes at the detriment of students.
A 10-year-old girl with no hands have gone viral after she had an audacious win in a National Handwriting Competition.
Parents and educators have been worrying about the “dying art” of handwriting for years, as smartphones and laptops have lead some classrooms to spend less and less time on teaching the fine art of writing in cursive.
Sara Hinesley, a third-grade student in Frederick, Md., though, finds writing cursive “kind of easy”, using her cursive skills to win a national handwriting competition. It’s an impressive feat made even more impressive due to the fact that the 10-year old was born without hands.
Hinesley, who writes by holding her pencil between the ends of her arms, was trained in the fine art of penmanship by her teacher and quickly learned to love writing. “She can do just about anything — oftentimes better than me or my husband,” her mother, Cathryn Hinesley, told CNN.
Hinesley entered the 2019 Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest, and the judges were so impressed with her perfect penmanship that she won the Nicholas Maxim Award, which is given to an entrant with a physical, developmental, or intellectual disability. The award comes with a trophy and $500 in prize money as well as $500 in educational materials for her school.
While Hinesley reportedly hasn’t decided what she wants to do with her $500 in prize money, she does hope to inspire other children “who have challenges,” reminding them that in her experience, “if you try your hardest you can do it.”

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a cartel, which specialised in planting illicit drugs in travellers’ luggage.
The NDLEA Chairman, Col. Muhammad Abdallah (rtd), disclosed this in a statement.
The cartel was uncovered after NDLEA detectives embarked on investigation of a Nigerian lady identified as Zainab Aliyu.
Zainab was accused of entering Saudi Arabia with tramadol. The implication in this discovery by NDLEA was the realisation that many Nigerians arrested and executed for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia might be innocent.
Zainab was arrested by Saudi Arabia Police on December 26, 2018 shortly after arriving for Lesser Hajj.
Zainab, a student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, had travelled from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in company with her mother, Mrs. Maryam Aliyu, and sister, Hajara Aliyu.
She was later arrested over allegations that a luggage, bearing her name tag, contained the unlawful substance.
However, while in detention, the NDLEA had received a petition from Zainab’s father, seeking a probe of his daughter’s ordeal.
Consequently, the NDLEA Commander in charge of MAKIA had launched an investigation, which culminated in the arrest and arraignment before a Federal High Court in Kano of seven staff of the airport.
The accused are Idris Umar Shehu (alias Umar Sanda), Sanni Suleiman, Nuhu Adamu, Rhoda Adetunji, Udosen Itoro Henry and Sanni Hamisu.
According to a report of the investigation, a copy of which was made available to journalists yesterday, a suspected cartel in the airport had planted the tramadol-bearing luggage on Zainab.
In the report, which has since been forwarded to the Consul-General in Jeddah for action, it was further established that Zainab who, like her mother and sister, had only a luggage, was not aware that a second bag had been labelled in her name.
The NDLEA said: “Based on the investigation activities carried out, it has been revealed that the said Zainab Habibu Aliyu is not the owner of the second luggage tagged in her name.
“On 24th of December 2018, Maryam Habibu Aliyu and her two daughters, Hajara Habibu Aliyu and Zainab Habibu Aliyu, who are students of Maitamia Sule University, Kano, were to travel to Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj. The three passengers had one luggage each.
“At the Departure Hall, three bags belonging to the three passengers were given to one Bako A. Salisu, who weighed the bags, tagged and gave the labels to the passengers.
“Immediately the luggage of the passengers were checked in, Rhoda Adetunji, an official of the Airport Authority (one of the accused persons) approached them, asking for their remaining luggage as the luggage checked-in by the passengers were lower than the total weight they were entitled to travel with – two of their luggage weighed 36kgs while one weighed 17kgs.
“The passengers ignored the said Rhoda Adetunji and went to the arrival hall to purchase yellow card and by the time they came back from the arrival hall to the departure hall, screening for boarding had already started and the three passengers all went for boarding. They never consented nor knew that any other luggage was tagged to the name of any of the passengers.
“On 26th of December 2018 about 12.45 midnight, the Saudi Arabia police came to the hotel room of Maryam and her daughters in Saudi Arabia to arrest one of her daughters, Zainab, on allegation that one of the luggage tagged to her name and passed has prohibited drugs, tramadol. Zainab is presently in detention in Saudi Arabi awaiting investigations and prosecutions.
“Following receipt of the complaint, seven people working at MAKIA were arrested in connection with the offence.
“In the course of the investigations, the telephones of all the suspects were seized by the agency for investigations, while going through the phones of the suspects one after other, it was discovered that the following happened between Sani Suleiman and Idris Umar, alias Umar Sanda.
“On 24th December 2018, Sani Suleiman with phone number 08036066448 was in conversation with Umar Sanda with phone number 08065499791 at 8.26a.m., 12.47a.m., 03.56p.m., and 4 p.m.
“On the same 24th December 2018, Sani Suleiman with number 08036066448 sent a WhatsApp picture of two parcels to Umar Sanda on phone number 08065499791.
“Also on the same 24th December, Suleiman sent a WhatsApp picture of two coloured luggage to phone number belonging to one Alhaji Gabari now at large.”
Few days ago, the Cross River State Government took responsibility of a set of twins delivered by a female inmate of the Afokang Prison, Calabar, on Thursday. Fresh report has it that the new mother has passed away.
The inmate who received tones of gift items, plus one million Naira (N1,000,000) from the Cross River State Government, it was learnt died on Friday, 19th of April, 2019.
According to ASP Effanga Etim, Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Prisons Service, Cross Rivers State command, the inmate died at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, Calabar due to complications arising from her child labour.
“The Nigerian Prisons Service, Cross River state command, is pained over the loss of the said inmate after a combined effort by the Prisons authority, the Cross River state government and medical personnel in the General Hospital, Calabar. I assure the public that the health and welfare of prisoners remain its top priority.”
Amidst the media reports insinuating that the inmate gave birth in Afokang Prison, Calabar, ASP Etim said it is not true, adding that the inmate delivered at the General Hospital, Calabar.
“The Nigerian Prisons Service, Cross River State Command, has received with dismay media reports insinuating that an Awaiting Trial Female (ATF) inmate of Calabar Prisons was delivered of twins inside the prison
facility.
“The report is not true as the said inmate was remanded by a High Court in Calabar on 5th November, 2018 with six (6) month-old pregnancy for the offence of child stealing. While in prison, she had been under regular ante-natal care at the General Hospital, Calabar. On the 17th of April, 2019 by 1:30pm when her labour began, she was admitted in the same hospital and a caesarean section was carried out on her.
“With the intervention of the Cross River state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, and the efforts of the Prisons authority to provide the funds needed for the caesarean section, CS, the said inmate was delivered of twins: a boy and a girl. However, due to complications arising from the CS, she was referred to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) for further management, where she died on the 19th of April, 2019.
“The command wishes to state emphatically that for the past four (4) years, there has not been any delivery in the Calabar Prison infirmary. Albeit, the infirmary is well equipped to handle health emergencies that may arise with nine (9) medical experts comprising of a medical doctor, registered nurses/midwives and community health workers, as well as back-up medical personnel stationed in the State Prison Headquarters, any emergency beyond the infirmary is referred to government hospitals outside the prison”, ASP Etim said.
Maisie Williams wants you all to know that her family was also uncomfortable watching her sex scene in the second episode of the season finale.
In case you missed it: as the army of the dead approached the gates of Winterfell, emotions rose high and Maisie’s character, the beloved Arya Stark finally had sex with King Robert Baratheon’s bastard, Gendry.
Many #GoT fans couldn’t stop talking about how weird it was to see Arya Stark have sex. But Maisie Williams has pointed out on Twitter that they don’t know what real discomfort is; they might as well imagine how it was for her family.
“if u feel uncomfortable just know that my mother and my stepdad and my 2 sisters and my 4 brothers have all probably watched this too,” she wrote on Twitter.
if u feel uncomfortable just know that my mother and my step dad and my 2 sisters and my 4 brothers have all probably watched this too ahahakillmeehehe
However, some discerning fans noted that Arya and Gendry scene was very consensual and non-incestuous as we have seen.

Dr. Chris Ngige, Minister Of Labour and Productivity, has said doctors in Nigeria are free to leave, as the country is running in excess of doctors.
Ngige made the pronouncement on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday.
Asked to comment on brain drain and if the deliberate recruitment of Nigerian doctors by foreign embassies is detrimental to the nation’s health sector, Ngige said: “No, I am not worried [about doctors leaving the country]. We have surplus.
“If you have surplus, you export. It happened some years ago here. I was taught chemistry and biology by Indian teachers in my secondary school days. There are surplus in their country and we also have surplus in the medical profession in our country. I can tell you this. In my area, we have excess.
“Who said we don’t have enough doctors? We have more than enough. You can quote me. There is nothing wrong in them travelling out. When they go abroad, they earn money and send them back home here. Yes, we have foreign exchange earnings from them and not just oil.”
When asked if he was sure of what he was saying, Ngige said it is good for doctors to travel out as they would receive training from abroad and open up centres in Nigeria.
“Will you call that brain drain?” he asked.
“I know a couple of them who practise abroad but set up medical centres back home. They have CAT scan, MRI scan which even the government cannot maintain. So, I don’t see any loss.”
When asked if brain drain was not hurting the health sector, he said: “Brain drain will only be inimical when, for instance, neurosurgeons travel and we don’t have neurosurgeons here.”
A lovelorn man in Ondo State allegedly set his girlfriend’s family on fire after she ended the relationship.
Deji Adenuga, also known as Dakar, on Tuesday caused mayhem after he set the family of eight ablaze on Adetuwo Street, Igbodigo town, in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
It was further learnt that five of the victims died while three others were receiving treatment at the Trauma Centre, Ondo town, Ondo State.
Adenuga was reportedly dating a girl in the family, identified only as Titi, but she later called off the relationship.
Unable to bear the pain, the suspect was alleged to have set the room where the family lived ablaze.
A source said,
“What happened today (Tuesday) was shocking. The man (Adenuga) almost wiped out an entire family early this morning.
“He was angry because the girl (Titi) he was dating said she was no more interested in the relationship. In order to deal with the girl, he poured petrol in the room where all members of her family were sleeping and set them ablaze.
“He actually missed his target because the girl was not in the room at the time he set the room ablaze.
“Eight members of the family were severely burnt. Five of them have been confirmed dead, while the remaining three were rushed to the Trauma Centre, Ondo, where they are receiving treatment.”
The source noted that the suspect fled the town after the act, adding that his whereabouts were unknown to residents.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, an investigation had begun.
