“PSquare almost signed Iyanya but I canceled the deal because they disrespected me” – Ubi Franklin (Video)
Popular music executive, Ubi Franklin has revealed that popular music duo, PSquare (Peter and Paul Okoye) desired to sign Iyanya at the exact moment when his music career was about to take off.
The head of Triple MG said that himself and Iyanya were called to the music group’s villa for a record contract by Jude Okoye, their manager, but that they instructed him to wait outside while the ‘Kukere’ crooner entered the house.

During an Adesope Olajide-hosted episode of The Afrobeats podcast, Ubi Franklin told the tale. He said that day’s actions by PSquare damaged his ego, and he swore he would turn down any offer of 50 million dollars for Iyanya.
He claimed that when PSquare requested their email address and promised to give the contract later, he never got back to them.
He said that when Iyanya inquired as to why they had not heard from PSquare, he advised them to launch their own record label, as that was the only way that they would be taken seriously in the music business.
The talent manager revealed that Eldee, a hip-hop celebrity, made a greater offer to Iyanya around the same time, but they first preferred to sign PSquare because of the accompaniments.
Ubi said;
“We got there, Jude, Paul, and Peter told me to wait outside and called Iyanya into the house. I was boiling outside. Iyanya would have gotten that deal with PSquare but the fact that they said I should wait outside, my ego was bruised.
You know what I said to them, ‘Even if I was offered $50 million, I would reject the deal.’ Guess what Eldee’s deal was actually better than theirs.”

Things you should watch out for before getting married” – Uchenna Nnanna advises singles
Popular Nollywood actress, Uche Nnanna, has encouraged singles to start preparing for marriage well before starting the journey.
She said that even though a lot of her friends got married before her in an interview with Punch, she didn’t let it upset her since she got married when it was convenient for her.

According to Uchenna Nnanna, marrying a beautiful companion is crucial, even though it’s important to seek God’s direction before making such a big decision.
In her words;
“People are not being prepared for marriage, and they are not defining what they want. Are you getting married because your mates are getting married? Or are you getting married because you feel you are ready for it? Most of my friends got married before me, but I got married on my own time, and today, I am enjoying my marriage.”
It is important to seek the face of God before getting married. For the females should watch their partners. How does he treat his sisters and his mother? That will tell you how he will treat you.
For the men, they should observe the way the lady they want to get married to treats others, and even beggars on the street. How does she treat children running around your compound?
Those are the things that will tell you the kind of person she is. It will be hard for a man who treats his sisters and mother well to hurt one. When one is married to a kind partner, there will always be a way to sort things out when there is a crisis.”

“No man has ever asked what I bring to the table” – Actress, Yetunde Bakare
Popular Nollywood thespian, Yetunde Bakare has stated that she has never been asked the hot topic of what a woman brings to the table in a relationship by a man.
The attractive actress said that since it’s not a common query, no one has asked it of her. Still, she thinks that guys who ask it are usually not interested in a long-term relationship with the lady.

In a recent interview, Yetunde made the claim, pointing out that the man may have recognised that lacking purpose and forethought via observation. According to the actor, it’s probably just a pretext for him to let her go.
She said;
“I personally think that is not a general question. Nobody has ever asked me that. I feel men often ask such questions when they don’t see the woman they are with as someone who has potential.
He might have studied her and realised that she does not have foresight, or that she lacks vision and purpose. He might also see her as someone who is more interested in a luxury lifestyle that she cannot afford on her own. I feel it is just an excuse for the man to let such a woman go.”

“Knowing that your art makes people happy is better than any award” – Korede Bello
Nigerian singer, Korede Bello has stated that while receiving a Grammy award is a significant honour, making people happy through music is more important.
The former Mavin Records signee stated that musicians look for recognition like this to help them further their trade.

In a recent interview, the Godwin hitmaker made this statement in response to a question on whether Nigerian musicians should rely on international events like the Grammy Awards for recognition.
According to Korede, incentives for excellent music are preferable to accolades, and they might take the form of financial gains or successful commercial releases.
He said; “There is a common pidgin saying that can loosely be translated to mean, ‘it is where one works that one will eat’. Part of the things we ‘eat’ as artistes is validation for our art. Validation for making great art is good. And, that can be very inspirational for others to make better art.
When an artiste makes it to the nomination list of a prestigious award, they are already winners in my opinion. Every other thing is subjective. However, I believe in rewards over awards.
Rewards can come in the form of commercial success or returns on investment. That way, one knows that the quality of what one puts in is what will determine what one will get. Awards are good, but knowing that one’s art makes many people happy is a better feeling.”
