Breaking: PDP Rejects Results In Kano

PDP Rejects Results In Kano

The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Kano have rejected the presidential results compiled in Kano by INEC.

The party agent at the collation Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, who is also the chairman of the party in the state expressed disgust with the way in which figures were inflated in the results.

According to him “we cannot accept such inflated figures and that is our stand, so we will go back and analyse the issue to know the next line of action to take.”

“As you can see the presiding officers complained of lack of use of card readers during the voting exercise of the presidential and national assembly elections in the state coupled with over-voting.

Asked whether the PDP will institute a legal action over the narratives, Sulaiman said ” we shall look at the circumstances and provisions of the law and see what the law says so as to pursue our rights.”

R. Kelly pleads not guilty to all counts of aggravated sexual abuse

R Kellys mugshot

R&B star R. Kelly pleaded not guilty during an appearance in a Chicago courtroom on Monday to charges that he sexually assaulted three teenage girls and a woman.

Kelly, who has faced years of sexual abuse allegations, turned himself in to authorities on Friday after he was charged and was ordered held on a $1 million bond at a bail hearing on Saturday.

The 52-year-old performer, whose real name is Robert Kelly, is charged under a 10-count indictment with sexually assaulting three teenagers and a woman in alleged incidents dating back to 1998. Each count carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.

Kelly appeared before Cook County Judge Lawrence Flood dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit and spoke only to confirm his name. His lawyer, Steven Greenberg, entered a not guilty plea on Kelly’s behalf.

Prosecutors say the victims include a teenager whom Kelly met when she sought an autograph during his previous trial on child pornography charges, another whom he met at her 16th birthday party and his hairdresser, who was then 24. The singer was acquitted of the pornography charges.

A fourth charge is based on a videotape that purportedly shows Kelly and a 14-year-old girl engaged in sexual acts, according to prosecutors.

On Saturday, Kelly’s lawyer told reporters his client had been devastated by the charges.

“We haven’t seen any evidence, any reason to believe these allegations are credible,” Greenberg said. “He’s a rock star. He doesn’t need to have nonconsensual sex.”

The charges against the performer came just weeks after the Lifetime television network aired a six-hour documentary series entitled “Surviving R. Kelly” in which multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct and abuse.

His next court appearance was set for March 22.

The failed attempt have landed two of the suspects in police net and their alleged confessional statement led to the arrest of the third suspect described as an accomplice.

This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zubairu Muazu, at the State Command. The police boss said that the suspects were rounded up based on credible intelligence received by the police decoy attached to Ejigbo Police Station.

He explained that the suspects were alleged to be holding a nocturnal meeting with the view to kidnap and keep their employer incommunicado until a ransom of N60million is paid.

Muazu said that based on the tip off, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ejigbo Police Station, CSP Okuwobi Olabisi, reportedly mobilized police detectives who swiftly stormed the venue of the meeting where the employees were arrested.

P.M.Express reliably gathered that the suspects in the course of interrogation named one Sunday Nwankwo as an accomplice and was later nabbed in Isolo area of the state.

CP Muazu while confirming the arrest in a release said all that the suspects have confessed to the crime and to have planned to demand the N60million ransom from their target if their plan had succeeded.

Cardinal George Pell, Vatican treasurer and third most senior Catholic in the world, found guilty of child sexual assault

One of the most powerful and influential men in the Roman Catholic Church, Australian Cardinal George Pell, 77, has been found guilty of multiple historical child sex offenses at a secret trial in Melbourne.

Pell is almost certain to face prison after a jury found him guilty of one charge of sexual penetration of a child and four charges of an indecent act with or in the presence of a child in the late 1990s.

The conviction of Pell, the Vatican treasurer and a close adviser to Pope Francis, will send shockwaves through the church, which is already reeling from accusations of sexual abuse committed by priests worldwide.

Cardinal George Pell

Pell is the most senior Catholic official to be found guilty of child sex offenses to date – his conviction brings the escalating international controversy around the abuse of children in Catholic institutions straight to the doors of the Holy See.

A court order banning media reporting of Pell’s five-week long trial, which began in November 2018, was lifted by Chief Judge Peter Kidd on Tuesday.

The prosecution’s case hinged on the testimony of one man, who said Pell sexually abused him and another boy in Melbourne’s historic St. Patrick’s Cathedral after mass one Sunday.

The second victim later died from a drug overdose having never revealed the abuse to anyone, while the surviving accuser can not be identified under Australian law governing sex abuse victims.

Man’s Gold Lamborghini goes up in flames just 1 hour after picking it up. (photos)

A young businessman’s £125,000 gold Lamborghini exploded just an hour after picking it up from the garage. Lak Sira, 22, said he was nearly killed after his “pride and joy” went up in smoke as he drove along the M6 with his girlfriend.

The entrepreneur had been on his way to London when he smelt petrol and was forced to pull over on the hard shoulder near Birmingham.

He then jumped from the gold chrome-plated Gallardo after hearing a loud bang and watched helplessly as the back of luxury vehicle was engulfed in flames.

Shocking pictures show the flaming wreckage as well as the blackened remains of the gutted vehicle after fire crews had extinguished the blaze last Friday.

The self-made businessman said he had paid £10,000 for a service and picked it up from Lamborghini Birmingham when it burst into flames just an hour later.

Lak, who earns £200,000 a year running an online trading company, has blamed the garage’s negligence and said he is looking at taking legal action against the dealership.

He said: “We had only gone one junction when my girlfriend smelt petrol in the car, so I called the garage’s mechanic. “He said ‘the car has just been for a service and it is usual to smell a bit of fuel’, so there wasn’t a problem.

“So we carried on a bit further and my girlfriend asked me to open the windows, because the smell of fuel had got that strong.

“I stopped on the hard shoulder to remove the roof but then the next thing was we heard a loud bang, it was like a firework going off, and the back of my car caught fire. “I just had to watch helplessly as the car which I had worked so hard to buy went up in smoke.

“We nearly died, if I didn’t pull over when I did I dread to think what happened. It was very frightening and my girlfriend is scared to get in any car with me now.

“I am meeting with my solicitor to see whether to take legal action as I can’t believe it’s a coincidence that I’d only just had the car back from the garage.

Lak, from Birmingham, added: “I’m absolutely devastated. I only had the car for a year and a half and I loved it. “I paid £12,000 to get it gold plated and £10,000 on the service – and then this happens.

Mortuary denies storing corpse of man allegedly raised from dead by Pastor; plans to sue him

We reported earlier of Prophet Alph N Lukau, founder and General Overseer of Alleluia Ministries International, South Africa, who claimed to have brought back to life a dead man during a Sunday service.

Mortuary denies storing corpse

The pastor claimed that the ‘deceased’ had spent the weekend at the mortuary before he was brought to the church for a “miracle”.

In new reports, it has been gathered that the Kings and Queens Funeral Services in South Africa has vowed to take legal action against pastor Alph Lukau for dragging its name in the alleged resurrection.

The funeral home denied having preserved the man’s body, a situation which instantly drew doubts in the whole coming back to life story.

Read their full statement below,

As kings and Queens Funeral Services, we would like to distance ourselves from the supposed resurrection of a deceased man by Hallelujah Ministries who allegedly was at our mortuary. As a funeral services provider, we offer
1. Funeral Services
2. Funeral Cover
3. Burials
4. Transport

We were approached by alleged family members of the deceased who informed us they had encountered a dispute with a different funeral service provider and would like to use our transport services which we offered them.

We did not supply the coffin neither did we store the deceased at our mortuary and no paper work was processed by Kings and Queens Funerals. As a Funeral Services Provider we do not offer services without documentation neither do we repatriate bodies without any paper work.

We are in the process of taking legal action for this malicious damage to our image.

To all our beloved clients and prospective clients, thank you for the continued support during this confusing time. We continue to strive for excellence as your preferred funeral services provider that offers a service that give you honour, dignity and comfort.

PDP rejects the 2019 Presidential Election Results, “democracy is under threat”

PDP has rejected the 2019 presidential election results that are currently being released by INEC. The PDP chairman, Uche Secondus, made this known at a press conference this evening. Read the full text of his speech below

Our Democracy in Under Threat

Protocols:

1. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is forced to take a stand and make the following pronouncements at this crucial point because our democracy is under threat of derailment.

2. Firstly, I want to categorically state that our collation centers have all original results from every polling unit, in every ward, in every Local Government Area (LGA) in Nigeria, of which the international community is well aware, implying all results currently being announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is incorrect thus unacceptable to our party and people.

3. Secondly, officials of both President Buhari’s government and the All Progressive Congress (APC), working with INEC officers, have tried to alter the course of history and disenfranchise our people through the cancellation and manipulation of figures for results already announced at polling units, nationwide, in Local Government Areas (LGAs) where our party, the PDP, had commanding votes; this must now be resisted by every well meaning Nigerian.

4. Thirdly, the ruling party’s strategy has indeed been murderous, undignified, and disrespectful of the wishes of the electorate, our people and the international community who have been in solidarity with our nation as we attempt to strengthen our democracy and its institutions.

5. Fourthly, in full view of the watching world, and despite efforts by our great party and its agents to adhere to every laid down provision for the 2019 general elections, the APC in collusion with INEC have taken aggressive steps, mostly through inducements, manipulation and incarcerations, using the elements of state power including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army in particular, alongside other organizations including the Department of State Security (DSS) and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to silence the voices of our long suffering people; this is disheartening, considering the terms of the Peace Accord, which called for impartiality and non-partisanship by members of our security organization with constitutional roles to play during this civic exercise.

6. Fifthly, as results trickled in on the Sunday, February 24th, 2019, clearly putting the PDP in the lead, the ruling party and President Buhari dispatched high-ranking officials to coercively influence outcomes in different geopolitical zones in the country. For example:

I. The minister of the interior, was dispatched to the North West of the country
II. The Secretary of the Government of the Federation was dispatched to the North East of the country; while the
III. The Attorney General and Minister were dispatched to the South East and South-South regions.

7. With the INEC IT server hacked by agents of the APC to manipulate results, we can with certainty state that results from the following polling units have, for example, been tampered with, note:

i. Sarkin Dawaki ward in Doma LGA – Nassarawa state
ii. Doka ward in Doma LGA – Nassarawa state
iii. Agyaragin – Tofa ward
iiii. 10, 000 illegal votes added to already announced results in Wurno LGA in Sokoto state
v. Additionally, violent and destructive attacks have been meted out to officials while counting at Lafia St. and police barracks polling units.

8. As if these provocations are not enough, our agents and officials are constantly arrested and in many cases locked-up for complaining that Card Readers were not in use in many Northern states, implying that all results from the Northern part of the country where Card Readers were not used should be voided in accordance with INEC guidelines.

9. I also believe, the arrest of Eng. Buba Galadima, who has been a great symbol of what is courageous about our people goes to show that one man’s ambition is greater than our collective good, and most probably worth the blood of all Nigerians.

10. In that context, I call for Buba Galadima’s immediate and unconditional release, as well as that of all officials and agents of the PDP, in the Southwest, who were mostly arrested on the eve of the elections where intimidation became the APCs sole election strategy.

11. Despite these provocations, intimidation and attempts to hijack our democracy and change the course of history, I must, in fact, convey to our good people the fact that the PDP is on course to victory and the Presidency; therefore, remain resolute and steadfast, because our party shares in your uncertainty and suffering, which must decisively come to a good end for us all.

12. Finally, and once again, we appeal to the leadership of INEC to remain impartial and not become willing agents to disenfranchise our people and derail our democracy, because the world is watching, and history will indeed pass judgment.

In addition, to the international community; we welcome your support for our democracy and extend our gratitude with great hope for our democracy.

The husband of late INEC Adhoc staff, Ibisaki Amachree has been pictured crying while looking at her corpse. The mother of two was killed by a stray bullet during Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

This comes after it was reported that her father took to Facebook to mourn his daughter. He wrote on his page,

“GOOD BYE Ibisaki Amachree
Here lies my beautiful daughter Ibisaki, a post graduate degree holder, full of cheer, love and kindness and mother of two. She was shot dead yesterday by a trigger happy and jittery soldier while she was on a national assignment with INEC.

I have never arranged for the death of any youth. I hate violence and thuggery. If law enforcement agents have to kill an enemy, should it be my responsible and peaceful daughter? It is well. Only God knows why it happened. He will surely repay the wicked.”

Californian man gets $21m compensation for wrongful conviction

Californian man gets $21m compensation

A Californian man identified as Craig Coley, got a $21m compensation for wrongful conviction which saw him spend 39 years in prison.

Coley was accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend Rhonda Wicht, 24, and her son Donald Wicht, 4, at their home in Simi Valley on Nov. 11, 1978. The two were found dead in their beds at their apartment on Buyers Street. She was apparently strangled by a macrame rope and her son was smothered.

Coley was arrested later that day. He was tried twice for the crime after a jury deadlocked 10-2 in favor of conviction on April 12, 1979. A second jury found Coley guilty on Jan. 3, 1980. He was sentenced on Feb. 26, 1980, to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

However with the help of advocacy groups such as the Innocence Project, the case was reopened and the Californian man whose prison sentence was upturned got $21m compensation for the wrongful conviction.

“While no amount of money can make up for what happened to Mr. Coley, settling this case is the right thing to do for him and our community,” City Manager Eric Levitt said in a statement, adding that going to trial would be costly and irresponsible.

The settlement allows the city to avoid a potentially long and costly court trial, Levitt said. Of the $21 million, the city will pay approximately $4.9 million, with the remainder to be paid by insurance and other sources.
