Embattled Actor, Jussie Smollett apologized to the Empire set shortly after he was released on bail. The actor is said to have been bailed in tune of $100k as police insist he staged his attack for a pay rise.
On leaving the courtroom, the actor had to dodge a mob of journalists, but cars and news choppers still followed his movement.
The Empire set members waited patiently for him to show up and shoot his scene. When he did, he begged them and told them he never did what he’s being accused of.

A court has ordered the arrest of former Super Eagles star, Austin Okocha, over tax evasion charges.
This was ordered by the Lagos Division of the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere.
Jay Jay Okocha has repeatedly failed to appear before the court to answer why he allegedly failed to pay his income taxes.
Premiumtimes reports that Adedayo Akintoye, the judge, issued the warrant for the arrest of the former Eagles captain on January 29 and thereafter adjourned until February 19.
However, on February 19, the prosecution had not effected the arrest forcing the judge to, again, adjourn till April 15 and ordered that the warrant is executed by then.
The football star is facing a three-count charge instituted by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice bordering on failure to furnish his income returns and nonpayment of tax.
The state filed the charges through its prosecutor, Jide Martins, in June 2017 and the suit began four months later.
The defendant, however, had failed to appear in court.
After several adjournments without Mr Okocha appearing despite having been served the court papers, Mr Martins prayed the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
According to the prosecutor, Mr Okocha had failed to furnish his income returns for tax purposes to the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service.
Mr Martins also said that the defendant had failed to pay his income taxes.
He said the offences contravened Sections 56 (a) and (b) of the Lagos State Revenue Administration Law No. 8, 2006 and Section 94 (1) of the Personal Income Tax Act Cap P8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

A rather wicked mother allowed her boyfriend rub hot pepper on her children’s genitals as punishment, the police has said.
Sabrina Emerick, 25, and her 37-year-old partner, Robert Saladaga who were arrested in Greenville, South Carolina, in the United States, were accused of abusing Emerick’s two boys.
According to local authorities, Saladaga put hot pepper on the genitals of one of the children as punishment for urinating on a sofa. He also fired BB guns at a youngster and held a pillow over the five-year-old’s face, according to detectives.
Warrants say Saladega rubbed hot sauce on the child’s face, eyes and mouth making him vomit and forced him to take hot or cold showers when he got into trouble.
Meanwhile, their mum passively “allowed her children to be placed at unreasonable risk of harm”, investigators said.
The couple were each charged with unlawful neglect of a child and two counts of cruelty to children, Greenville News reports.
Saladaga is also charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, according to warrants. The abuse of the boys, aged five and seven, occurred on multiple occasions dating back to at least September 2017, police said.
Following their arrests, Saladaga and Emerick have been released on bail.
Thanks to the timely intervention of police operatives, the life of man who had visited his 12 year old daughter at her school would have been lost after they saved him from being lynched after mob mistook him for a kidnapper.
The said man, Enoch Mensah Nortey, was at the St Lawrence Catholic Basic School in the Central region of Ghana, to visit his daughter but some residents raised false alarm that he had gone there to kidnap some of the school children.
He had sought permission from the head teacher to see his daughter who lives separately from him only to leave the head teacher’s office to meet a thick crowd waiting to pounce on him.
The crowd, according to eyewitness, kept building up as the school is located close to a market at Abura, a densely populated area in the Cape Coast metropolis.
The central regional police command confirming the incident said they received a call from someone about the situation and the operations team led by the Deputy Regional Commander DCOP Enoch Bediako Twum moved to the scene where authorities of there confirmed that the man was there to visit his daughter and was not a kidnapper.
The police rescued Enoch Mensah Nortey and escorted him out of the scene and sent him to the regional police headquarters. DSP Irene Oppong, regional police PRO, told 3news.com the police is investigating the case with the full cooperation of Enoch Mensah.
She however cautioned the public against false alarm on kidnapping because it is a criminal offence and culprit would be prosecuted

Empire actor, Jussie Smollett has reportedly been arrested, and he’s now in police custody. This was revealed on Twitter by Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
The actor is facing a felony charge for allegedly filing a false police report.
Taking to Twitter, the police spokesman said Jussie Smollett “is under arrest and in custody of detectives.”
His bail hearing will be taking place later today. However, his lawyer believes he has the right to be seen as innocent until proven guilty.
“Like any other citizen, Mr. Smollett enjoys the presumption of innocence, particularly when there has been an investigation like this one where information, both true and false, has been repeatedly leaked,” his attorneys said in a statement.
He went on to state that they intend on mounting an aggressive defence for Jussie Smollett m
“Given these circumstances, we intend to conduct a thorough investigation and to mount an aggressive defense.”
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has raised the alarm over the circulation of fake Dollar notes ahead of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
In a statement personally signed by the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu, the agency stated that the warning follows intelligence gathered in the build up to the elections.
The intelligence indicates that the Dollar notes have features of genuineness , but forensic analysis by the Commission reveals otherwise.
We therefore warn the BDC operators to be cautious in their transactions from now till the end of the elections” part of the statement read
The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has donated the sum of N1 million naira to Veteran Actor, Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe.
Osinbajo made the donation through the Office of the Youth Organising Secretary, APC Lagos, Aregbe Idris who was also in the company of popular Nollywood actress, Remi Surutu and other musical acts.

The woman who pioneered professional modeling in Nigeria and became Nigeria’s first super model, Yemi Fawaz, has died.
Yemi Fawaz died yesterday February 20th at New York Lenox Hill Hospital. She was 64 years old. Ms Fawaz had been battling colon cancer for a while. She also had a hole in her heart and her kidney had began to fail her.
Yemi Fawaz started her modeling career and became a super model in the late 70s. She also established a modeling school and did a lot for the fashion industry in Nigeria.
She packed up her bags and left Nigeria in 1997 and didn’t return until 2016. She is survived by her 33 year old daughter. May her soul rest in peace.

An 18-year-old boy has been arrested after attempting to steal a vehicle in broad daylight at the Verulam market in South Africa.
South Africa’s reaction unit received the callout this morning (Thursday) from a passerby who noticed a man trying to apprehend the suspect.
The Officers arrived on scene a minutes later & found the suspect in an enclosed area of a wholesaler. He was placed under arrest & handcuffed. Two (2) other suspects fled on foot prior to the Officers arriving on scene.
According to the 67 year old Parkgate resident, he had parked his 1995 model 160i silver Toyota Corolla on Wick Street – Verulam near the Market when three suspects attempted to open the left front window.
The suspects were in possession of tools to start the vehicle but fled when they were noticed. The arrested suspect removed his sandals at the scene and attempted to flee on foot.
The resident was released after the complainant declined to open a criminal case. The suspect picture is being circulated in the interest of the public.
