President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed not to disappoint Nigerians in appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by people from different walks of life.
The President spoke on Thursday at State House, Abuja, as he was decorated Grand Patron of the Nigerian Media Merit Award by the Board of Trustees of the prime media awards organisation in the country.
He described the investiture as “a timely honour”, adding that he had known a good number of the members of the NMMA board “since the time I didn’t even know I would be here”.
Former Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Mr Vincent Maduka, who led the delegation, said Buhari was qualified to be grand patron “because you respect the rights of the media to practice, without any hindrance”.
He noted that under Buhari, no media house had been shut, and the first ever campus television licence was awarded to the University of Lagos, under the chairmanship of veteran Mass Communication teacher, Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye.
Popular Instagram comedian Cute Abiola has cried out for help as he took to his page to share a disturbing post with a text image which reads, I am depressed.
He wrote in his post that he’s a Naval Officer as well as an Instagram comedian and he is torn between the two worlds as his superiors at work seem not to be in good terms with his choice of living a double life and pester him to choose one.
According to him, this crossroads actually got him into depression. He wrote,
Hello everybody. I need to talk to all of you.No much introduction. You all that are following me knows me already! What I love doing is comedy and to always make you laugh. You all know that. I never want to type this but I can’t just hold it anymore . I m in serious pain. And I am in a great fear because I am not able to focus on my comedy career like before. I am typing this with tears and a lot of depression. If not everybody. I know that some of you knows that I am a NIGERIA NAVY PERSONAL . but before I joined this job .i did not think so deep and I was carried away because of some lies I was told. Let me keep that for now! I thought as I joined the job I would get more peace but not knowing that I actually sold my peace away!!!
I thought I would be able to do my comedy and acting together with the navy job but it’s not just easy to cope with both. I joined this NAVY on the 7th of March 2018 if you remember very well and I come back to you guys on the 8th of September after I finished my 6month malicious training. Those that knew me as a celebrity on the training ground those days called me a fool and told me I did not plan well before joining. I was just so depressed those days. And I moved on with faith. Because I just wanted to finished the training and know what next if I would be able to cope with my acting career and the navy . To say the fact . This job has given me a lot of respect but all the same . You guys don’t know wat I am feeling.
Let me tell you the truth . Not that I have the time . Some times I would just sneak out of my office and change up to do videos for you my fans just to remain consistent and never to make you forget Your ANKARAGUCCI . So these days, a captain in the Navy threatens me a lot and told me to pick one. Am I choosing navy or entertainment?. That if I am to do the navy Job I must leave acting or else ……….. or else what please? for what ? For crying out loud . I can’t leave this comedy alone . It’s what I have passion for. I have a lot of advert skit now that I never shoot and I lost my Samsung s7 edge last week . I also lost my 31 skits on it .just need to get a solution ASAP. I am not an happy man

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday inaugurated an advisory committee for the 2019 general elections.
The advisory committee is headed by Air Vice Marshall Ahmed Tijani, Muazu while the 2019 National Collation Center Committee is headed by Amina Zakari, President Muhammadu Buhari’s relative, signalng reports.
By her new appointment, Zakari will be responsible for announcing the results of the presidential elections.
The former INEC Director of Operations, who hails from Daura, Katsina State, President Muhammadu Buhari’s hometown was last year moved to Health and Welfare arm of the Commission, following public outcry.
Speaking during the inauguration, INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu said the committee will be responsible for the collation of results.
He said the committee will operate from the International Conference Centre in Abuja, where results of the Presidential election will be announced.
“It will serve as the secretariat for collation of results and venue for briefing of international observers and the media,” he said.
Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had last year alleged that Buhari’s presidency was plotting to use Zakari to rig the 2019 presidential election.
The Peoples Democratic Party Vice Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, on Thursday said his two graduate children did not own cars.
He said the children must make money by themselves to buy their own cars and not relying on him, the Punch reports.
Obi, who spoke to his kinsmen in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State during a lecture organised in his honour by Agulu Peoples Assembly, said Nigeria was a place where people crave free money to live in luxury.
Obi said he had trained his children to be self-reliant, adding that he had chosen not to join people who crave primitive acquisition.
He said,
“I have two graduates who are working, a boy and a girl, and the two of them don’t own any car because they haven’t made enough money to buy a car.
“They were here for the Christmas, and I was talking to some people about them and the person said he saw my son and that he always jumps on buses and tricycles.
“Some people don’t like it that way. They believe I am rich and that my children should not be trekking, and that they should be provided cars.
“But I believe they do not have the money; so, they have to trek.
“Who will give them cars — is it me? My money is my own; so, they should work for theirs.”
Yesterday, former YBNL star, Viktoh, shared a video showing how he was brutalized by Nigerian police after he went to perform at a show.
Some Nigerians decided to rather condemn the singer for complaining about the incident rather than facing his dieing career.
Viktoh has however berated his critics for being indifferent to his plight instead of condemning the act of the police men who could have done worse to another citizen on the street.
He tweeted:
‘I kept on tweeting and fighting against this police brutality but you guys ignored me now it has happened to me and someone is saying I never did something about it? This is sad’
Some people even said I should shut up and face my career like what’s happing to people of this world
Too much hate in this country sha
I still came out to perform for my fans that’s the fucking passion!
Iran is set to ban popular social media platform, Instagram over “immoral content”, a platform which the President has over two million followers.
Authorities in Iran have announced plans to ban the photo sharing app, citing national security concerns.
Iran’s National Cyberspace Council has approved steps to block Instagram, according to local reports, following crackdowns on other social media apps. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Telegram are already banned in the Islamic Republic, with internet providers ordered to block access to the services.
The apps have often been used as a way to spread anti-government messages, with Telegram in particular, often cited as a national security concern.
Many Iranians continue to access the services despite the bans, circumventing the technical blocks by routing traffic through an overseas internet address.
Twitter has been blocked in the country since 2009 but Rouhani has official accounts that tweet both in Persian and English. Former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has also fostered a sizeable Twitter fanbase.
The state prosecution service’s IT commissary, Javad Javadnia, said on Thursday that “Instagram unfortunately has not only illegal but immoral and obscene content” and authorities are presently waiting for final decision from Iran’s political leadership to implement the ban, the Isna news agency reported.

Not too long ago, there were multiple reports on Nigerian blogs that popular man of God, Pastor Chris Okafor allegedly acquired a private jet, accompanied with photos of the man of God posing in and outside of the private jet.
Although, whether or not he actually purchased the jet was still foggy as a report stated…
‘If found to be true, Dr. Okafor will Join the growing list of Nigeria’s mega pastors whose ministries have been graced with luxurious jets’.
… and also the church did not officially issue a statement, a trusted source who is quite close to the Liberation City General overseer waved it off as a “rudderless rumor”.
In a new report by LIB, the story is said to be misleading as the private jet with registration number 5N-EXJ actually belongs to Execujet Nigeria and it has been used by other Nigerian pastors and celebrities in the past.
LIB confirms that Chris Okafor does not own a jet.

See what she wrote below;
Please DO NOT BE PRESSURED . A lot is a lie . A lot is a manifestation of what they want to be . A lot is from insecurities.A lot is from depression not all smiley faces are happy faces.
Depression is real too many lives lost .
I faced depression I battled it and I won . You can win . First thing to do is not to let people define your happiness. We all have our races ,our paths are different ,first to do no mean last man standing o.
If anyone run past u ,do better than you or have anything u want and don’t have , just wave and say “I will catch up” see ya later”. Your process is important don’t be in a hurry if u do you would lose the ammunition, the instruments u need to sustain the greatness and happiness you pursue.

A mother of one has reportedly lost her life after a high tension cable fell on her at her home in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state.
Facebook user, Rasheed Fatuga, who shared the story online, stated that the woman who recently celebrated her 40th birthday, was seeing off a friend who came to pay her a visit at her home around Solebo estate in Aga Ikorodu, when the cable fell on her on Deceber 9th 2018.
She was rushed to the hospital where she was until she died on New Year day January 1st 2019. Read Rasheed’s account of the story as he shared on his page below,
She was full of life, in fact she celebrated her 40th birthday recently.
On Dec 9, 2018, Her friend came to visit her and as she was seeing her off around Sòlébò Estate, Aga Ikorodu, a high tension cable fell off from the Ikeja Electricity Pole and fell on her while light was on.
Immediately eyewitnesses called the Electricity Company officials, and the light was switched off but before the people could gather to rescue her to the hospital, the light came on again, and they all ran back.
Then the light went off again and the people immediately rushed her to lkorodu General Hospital where she was given First Aid treatment and then she was transferred immediately to Gbagada General Hospital where burns are being treated.
The incident happened around 7pm in Ikorodu and she was transferred to Gbagada General Hospital around 10pm.
Ever since then, close to 1 Million Naira has been spent on her (Drugs, Tests, Injections, Surgery and co).
Our source, who is a close relative mentioned it that Doctors in the hospital recommended that she eats a crate of egg per day, that’s to explain the level of her condition.
She also said that representatives of the Electricity company visited the victim while she was on the sick bed, and all they could give her is Ten Thousand Naira (10,000).
She eventually died yesterday (Tue, Jan 1, 2019).
To me,
Nigeria is the most terrible place to live in, a country where the government doesn’t care if we live or we die.
So many people have lost their lives because of cases like this.
I believe in a sane country,
Electricity companies should conduct a periodic check to their facilities especially one such as high tension cables.
Until we Nigerians start rising up to making everyone accountable to their duties and responsibilities, we would just keep on passing the buck.
The is not a new occurrence, it happens everyday in the country.
I believe the family should sue the electricity company and also ask for compensation, because they have neglected their duty, they failed to comply to health and safety laws.
What happened to all those security checks and maintenance they claim they conduct sometimes that would make thousands of houses not having light?
We all know that Death is inevitable but this is a pathetic way to die.
The Electricity Company must pay for this!
May her Soul Rest In Peace!
To the Families: Our heart goes out to you in this time of sorrow.
Please accept our condolences.

Senator Dino Melaye’s younger brother, Moses, has accused the Federal Government of using the police to turn the Senator’s life into a nightmare.
His assertion comes as the police continues to lay a siege outside Melaye’s home in Abuja.
Recall that on Friday December 28th 2018, the police stormed Melaye’s Abuja home with the aim of arresting him over an alleged murder case. The embattled senator and his men have been accused of attempting to murder a police officer in Kogi state in July 2018. Read here.
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV last night, January 2nd, Moses Melaye said the police have made life unbearable for his brother since they started the siege outside his home and that his family believe the police is out to harm him.
“This government and the police have made the life of my brother, Senator Dino Melaye, a living hell for the last few months. The case they are raising against him happened in July. I was there in the car; the policemen shot at us. My car had over six bullets riddled on that car. How can they turn around all of a sudden that we are the ones shooting at the police?
“Our security men and policemen have been taken away since over seven-eight months ago. So, how do we now become the persons shooting? That story is not true. It is unfounded and because of the injustice on a daily basis, we cannot trust or believe anything they do. I believe that they are out to harm my brother. If not, what is the desperation?” he said
Narrating how the police stormed Melaye’s Abuja home on December 28th, Moses said
“On this particular occasion, they went into the compound, arrested the security man, beat him up and cuffed him” he said
