A Nigerian lady has taken to Twitter to reveal why she gave up on religion, after her aunt was sacked just days before Christmas.

Taking to the popular social media platform, the lady identified as @morewunmie wrote that her aunt was sacked from her work place, because of her religious sect.

According to her, her aunt, who was the headmistress of a school, belongs to the Apostolic faith, while the other staff worship at the Deeper life church, hence the difference in beliefs.

She said her aunt was judged because she wears earrings, deodorant and makeup.

She wrote,

Lady raises $2,380 by selling videos of her feet online

A young mum found a way to save up thousands of dollars to fund her family’s Christmas by selling pictures of her feet online in bizarre business move

21 year old, Kayla Woods, from Florida, claims she has earned $2,380 (N866,320) since last December by selling pictures and videos of her feet online and going on platonic dates.

Kayla’s customers have made a range of unusual requests, such as asking her to rub her feet on vegetables and bathe them in oil. One client even asked her to write their name on her instep with a marker pen.

Customers have the option of paying their tab by purchasing items on Kayla’s Amazon wish list. Consequently, she now has a smartwatch, a baby bouncer and a $300 Nintendo Switch console nestled beneath her tree.

The mother-of-one’s alternative money-making method came about after she joined the dating site in 2015, where men pay between $100 (£79) and $200 (£158) for a date.

She said;

“About 12 months ago I was going on dates with someone who had this particular interest. I had been on a date with him, and I felt comfortable.

“I was sending him selfies, and then he asked me to send a picture of my feet.

“I had always thought my feet were deplorable, awful and ugly but he didn’t seem to think so.

“After I sent the pictures, it gave me a lot of confidence. He paid me for the pictures and I realised there must be other people willing to do that too”.

Nigerian man narrates how he escaped from kidnappers den

Nigerian man narrates

A young Nigerian man, Kingsley Nzom has narrated how he miraculously escaped from kidnappers den in Rivers state.

The man identified as , took to Facebook to narrate how he was kidnapped in Rivers state while on his way to Port Harcourt from Lagos.

The man who spent three days in the kidnappers den was able to escape after the men watching him left their post.

Read his experience below;

Jesus saved me from Kidnappers.

On Saturday, 15th Dec 2018, I left Lagos to Portharcourt. I traveled with Okeyson transport company. The driver was as fast as a lazy pregnant snail.
We were ambushed at Elele in Rivers state. About 10-15 young men, with auto rifles, shotguns, matchets, etc. They let the driver go, took the rest of us into the bush blindfolded. Every night they move us to a different “barrack”. We’re always been moved; blindfolded, hands tied, legs tied too.
The first night wasn’t really a hassle for me as they shared my properties; wears, phones, cash, collected our ATM pins for the money in the accounts.
We were always blindfolded except at nights.

The next day, they advised us to quickly raise money and pay them if not, they were going to sell off our private parts and skulls to ritualists. They contacted this Alhaji (I don’t know if it was to scare us, but I heard the man, he had the Fulani accent) but he said he can’t come there on a Sunday.

We were made to contact our families on Monday so they can pay our ransoms; N1million. According to them, the Alhaji will come that Monday night, so they gave us till 4pm that Monday to pay, or be sold off in pieces to Alhaji.
I contactes my younger brother, asked him to call Dickson and sha give him the update, he laughed on hearing the amount, his hysterical laugh irked them so deeply they took off the steam by landing more blows on me. Where man pikin keep 2milly?

I percieved the smell of dope, I begged to take a hit, whoever it was obliged, from there we started talking, we’d gist briefly, hit blunt together, he’ll even give me water. At other times, I dey collect beating.
That Monday night, they were already having issues among themselves. They complained that their Oga didn’t bring the Alhaji, neither is he in the bush with them, that they left them in the bush while the rest have gone to town to flex. I silently prayed.
Tuesday morning, 18th December 2018, the band on my wrist was loose, I called on one of them to come tighten it because if they notice by themselves, na beating go follow as they assume that you trying to escape, but he said he’ll be back. That meant he’s going somewhere. After a while, we couldn’t hear their chatter, it happened that the ones manning us took a stroll.

How three people watching us decided to leave us without anyone watching was something only God could do. At first, I thought it was a trap.
It wasn’t difficult untying myself as mine was loose already. I untied the rest of us, Na so we cut out oo. We spent about 25-30mins in the bush trying to find our way out, following the direction from where the sound of speeding vehicles came, till we got to the express road.

We are also working on deployment of drones; the Nigerian Air Force has been deploying drones in our operations in the northeast and they are deploying more, it has been very effective in this operation.

God will not allow any other party to rule Lagos except APC – Oba of Lagos says

Oba of Lagos says

The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu has said that God will not allow any other party apart from All Progressives Congress (APC) to take over the State in the forthcoming general election in 2019.

He made this remark yesterday in Lagos at the 11th Annual Hijrah Lecture and Commissioning of the new House of Assembly Mosque. He said the new Mosque was unique especially as it was built inside the Assembly complex where Bills are passed into law.

Oba Akiolu also argued that it was not enough to build Mosque but that the custodians of the Mosque should be properly taken care of. He also advised the custodians not to be involved in anything that would tarnish image of the religion.

Governor Ambode was represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, AbdulHakeem Abdulateef who is the Chief Imam of the House of Assembly Mosque. In his speech, the Chairman of the Muslim Community of the Assembly, Mr. Sikiru Osinowo thanked God Almighty for the completion of the mosque.

“We started the mosque project so that we could fulfil the purpose of our coming here. We have been Muslim Speakers, and God made it possible for us to build the new mosque during the time of the current Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa,” he said.

“FUNAAB student did not die over lack of oxygen” – FMC Abeokuta

The Federal Medical Centre, FMC Abeokuta, Ogun State, has said that it had enough oxygen to treat Olaniyi Ashimi, a 400 level soil science student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta who died at the hospital early this month, Punch Metro reports.

It had been earlier reported that Ashimi died because the hospital lacked oxygen.

But in a statement by the Head, Public Relations and Information, Segun Orisajo, the hospital claimed that it did its best to save Ashimi’s life.

The statement read in part:

“Ashimi, the 26-year-old FUNAAB student was admitted to our Accident and Emergency department around 5pm on December 5, 2018 following a road crash about an hour earlier.

“He was one of 18 students involved in the crash rushed in by TRACE officers. They had varying degree of injuries. Seven of them had serious injuries and were admitted. Ashimi had multiple injuries that included a leg fracture, a head injury and a chest injury. Initially, he was stable. But approximately 24hours later, he suddenly became breathless.

“Clinically, he had features of bilateral lung contusion and haemothorax. A bilateral chest tube insertion was done immediately to drain the fluid in the pleural space.

He had a transient relief and had to be transferred to the ICU where he was intubated for assisted ventilation. By this time he was unconscious.

There was a need for a CT scan of the brain as well as ventilator assisted respiration. Our CT machine is faulty. UCH (University College Hospital, Ibadan) was contacted and it was agreed for him to be transferred to UCH. Oxygen availability was never an issue.

“This patient was on oxygen right from when he needed it. For the trip (to Ibadan), our own ambulance equipped with oxygen and additional cylinder of oxygen was used.”

The statement added,

“It must be stated that throughout his stay in FMC, his close relations, student leaders and most especially the management staff of FUNAAB were most supportive in their respective roles.”

The statement said the only FUNNAB student who died in the hospital was rushed in very late.

“The very unfortunate incident that was alluded to was a student who was lost over two years ago. He was an off-campus student who was brought at a very late stage of a severe illness.”

Tsunami strikes Indonesia killing at least 40 people, injuring 600 and destroying more than 400 homes

It’s been reported that at least 40 people lost their lives after a tsunami caused by a volcanic eruption hit beaches in Indonesia. The wave hit beaches around the Sunda Strait late on Saturday night, destroying 430 houses, nine hotels and 10 ships.

The country’s Disaster Mitigation Agency confirmed around 600 people have been injured. A further two people are believed to be missing. A tsunami alert was issued and people in low-lying areas fled to higher ground.

Indonesian officials believe the tsunami was caused by an eruption on nearby Krakatoa, which has been spewing volcanic ash into the air. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has been monitoring the situation and has issued a red warning to airline pilots operating in the region that an ash cloud is spreading south west from the volcano to an altitude of 55,000 feet.

It is believed the tsunami was caused by an undersea landslide following the eruption of the Krakatoa volcano. The wave hit beaches on the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra.

Indonesian authorities said 430 houses have been badly damaged as well as nine hotels. The wave also badly damaged ten ships with dozens others needing repair. In September, at least 832 people were killed by a quake and tsunami that hit the city of Palu on the island of Sulawesi, which is just east of Borneo.

“I used to seek validation from social media”- Waje

Nigerian Singer, Aituaje Iruobe, popularly known as Waje, a Nigerian singer and songwriter, says she once used to rely on social media for validation.

Telling a story of how she was trolled on social media in 2013 after a bad performance, the mother-of-one said she is no longer affected by bad performances.

She told Dang Network ;

“I never used to think that I was good-looking, having a great body or anything like that. I needed validation so when social media came, it was a no-brainer. Great pictures, comments; I felt like I had hit jackpot and then the bubble burst. Then I realised that some people follow you just to point out everything wrong with you. In 2013, I had four nominations at the World Music Awards and I had just released my album, I was on the top of my game.

“I was billed to perform on this faithful day and understanding that I had a great voice, I just wanted an opportunity to showcase my talent with live music and the organisers told me that there was no space for that. I was mad at my management for not sorting that out but we needed the money so I agreed. I got there and there was a band.

“I got depressed, the crowd in their thousands didn’t know that I was not in my element, I had to use a CD to perform and I didn’t like it. There was no heart, no love, just me feeling disappointed that I gave them less than they hungered for. I was trending but I was trending for all the wrong reasons.

“They hated my performance, I was fat-shamed, one person even said that I looked like a DSTV remote control. I cried and felt really bad.

“I isolated myself and there was nothing anyone could do to appease me. The only person that could get through to me was Omawumi and my friend Jennifer.”

The 38-year-old singer, who just released her fourth studio album, Red Velvet, said it took a fitness coach who helped her work on her body and mind to change her mentality.

“We didn’t just work out for fitness, we worked on my mind too. Between 2013 and now, people have been asking me what diet I used to lose weight but I know that I haven’t lost much weight but something changed,” she explained.

“I allowed social media take a hold of me, I trusted it to give me something it had no ability to offer but I realised that everything I need, I already possess, I just need to channel it in the right direction. Good or bad performance, I don’t let it bother me, it doesn’t fault my confidence.”

Asuu Strike : FG is unserious.

FG withdraws no work no pay threat

Chairman of the University of Calabar branch of Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dr. Tony Eyang, on Friday said the Federal Government is not serious about its negotiation with the union.

Eyang, who spoke against the backdrop of the recent deadlock with the government, said a simple way to show commitment, beyond the series of Memorandum of Agreements, was for the government to implement just one of its earlier promises.

He said ;

“The Memorandum of Action of 2017 must be implemented. It is more or less a pathway to the implementation of the 2009 agreement. The way to move forward was what necessitated the N20bn commitment from FG but nothing has been.

“We have made our demands, it is now left for government to react in concrete terms that they are serious. One of the demands is the mainstreaming of earned academic allowances into salaries beginning with the 2019 budget, but what do we know about the budget which was presented just three days ago.

“What we are told is that it has been factored it, but we do not know if it is so. We are not looking for 100 per cent implementation, all we want is some demonstration of seriousness. It is not ASUU that is being difficult here, but government is being unserious. For several months that this union has been on strike they have been dancing around the issues.

“Let me tell you, the 2017 Memorandum of Agreement had timeline, but one year after, the timeline was not met and another strike has had to be called to force the government to look into it.

“So, on this matter, what argument, what discussions, what agreement are you getting into again with the government when we had reached one with a timeline for the release of the money, owing people who have worked. “

“ASUU will for instance not insist that FG should pay the N1tr at once for the upgrade of universities. Last year, government proposed that it would release N20bn as a mark of commitment to the revitalisation of universities and ASUU accepted, but up till now it has not been done. Our members are very agitated and FG has not demonstrated commitment,”

Odutan prayed the court to award the sum of N50,000 against the defendant for serving counter affidavit on him on the day of the hearing of the case, as it will take time for him to study and respond appropriately.

I dont take romantic roles because of my tribal marks – Sanyeri says

Sanyeri says

Comic Yoruba actor, Olaniyi Afonja, popularly known as Sanyeri, has said his tribal marks has given him an edge in the movie industry.

He made this known during a chat with Saturday Beats, Sanyeri said even though his tribal marks had put a limit to the kind of roles he plays in movies, it had also helped him to carve a niche for himself. He said;

“I started appreciating my tribal marks when I became an actor. I know that due to my tribal marks, I may not be able to take up some roles, especially lover boy and romantic roles, much less compete with other good-looking actors in the industry.

“But you know God works in mysterious ways. My tribal marks have brought many comic roles my way and that has automatically given me an edge as an actor. And that is why you won’t see me acting romantic roles.

“Even though as a child, people used to make a jest of me and I used to feel bad especially as I’m the only one with tribal marks among my siblings, I was never angry with my parents for giving me these tribal marks. Right now, no one can mock me again because I’m now more comfortable with them and I have made a fortune with them.
