A resident of Abuja, Musa Wakatu has climbed a telecommunication mast in protest against Atiku Abubakar over an alleged land encroachment by his American University of Nigeria (AUN).
The elderly man climbed the mast at Nicon Junction in Maitama area of the federal capital territory (FCT) on Monday morning.
The university is owned by Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wakatu, who threw leaflets from the mast to the crowd who had thronged the area, alleged that Abubakar, through his university, had encroached and fenced his landed property at Bajabure in Girei local government area in Yola, Adamawa state, and built structures inside.
He said he had protested on the same matter on March 14, 2012 when he climbed a mast at federal high court in Abuja but nothing was done.
“I wrote a complaint letter to the former IG Mr. Hafiz Ringim and delivered to force headquarters on 5th December 2011 with visitor tag No.054 without any positive result,” the leaflet read.
He said he was lured to collect money as compensation from AUN which he rejected but was later locked up in the cell.
Wakatu said a policeman identified as Ibrahim Iro detained him in Yola.
He said he sold a house he inherited from his father to pursue the case in the court without any result.
He added that he was ready to pursue the case to the world court in order to get justice.
The leaflet also contained his bank account name and number seeking financial assistance from Nigerians to enable him get lawyer for the case.
A detachment of policemen, who arrived the scene, appealed to Wakatu via phone to descend from the mast but he vowed not to.
The contractor handling the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway project, Julius Berger has said that the project will be completed by 2021.
The Operations Manager, Julius Berger, Thamm Olaf, told the Senate Committee on Works, led by its Chairman, Kabiru Gaya, on Sunday, that the project, which was to be completed in 2017, was stalled due to paucity of funds and the recent expansion, Punch Metro reports.
Gaya and other members of the committee, who were on an oversight visit to road projects in Lagos, however, stated that they were not happy about the slow pace of the work, despite the efforts and funds that had been put into it.
He said the Federal Government had spent a lot of money on the road and others across the country and had moved cost of road infrastructure from N500bn to 600bn in the 2019 budget to accommodate more road construction.
“The project is good as it will take care of traffic but we are not happy with the speed and so we expect the contractor to increase the pace of work, even though there were amendments on the road,” he said.
Gaya also told journalists that the contractor of the Tin Can Island Truck Park, Borini Prono, had said that the project, expected to ease traffic congestion around Apapa Wharf, would be completed in December.
He said the project had reached 97 per cent completion while construction of the shoreline, recently added to protect the park, had commenced.
He said:
“When we visited this site in 2015, the construction was less than 70 per cent; now it is 97 per cent because money has been paid and we insist that it must be finished by December.
“We have also said that the facilities are not good enough for a trailer park; there should be more toilets, restaurant and even a small clinic.”
The committee also inspected the Apapa Wharf Road, a two-kilometre concrete road being constructed by AG Dangote and expected to be completed before the end of the year; the Leventis Bridge, which is expected to be completed by Julius Berger by the first quarter of 2019; and the Third Mainland Bridge, which would be partially closed in 2019 for rehabilitation.
Other roads inspected during the tour were the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road being handled by Arab Contractors with a completion date of 2021, and the 1.5km NNPC Mosimi Access Road, which had been stalled by a debt of N1bn.
Although the Lagos-Badagry Road project was not inspected, the Federal Controller of Works, Adedamola Kuti, however, stated that the Federal Executive Council had re-awarded the contract and work would commence soon.
Earlier today, former beauty queen Dabota Lawson took to her Instagram page to make a rather sad post on the decisions she made in her life and how she regrets ever making such decisions.
Words of encouragements have since been pouring in for the entrepreneur and one of the those that offered advises, is non other than her bosom friend Toke Makinwa who admonished the ex beauty queen to move on with her life as she is bound to make more mistakes in life.
Read her comment below:
Hey baby cakes, I know you think you’ve got it all figured out but who are we without our flaws? Who are we without our mistakes? We will still make some more.
Regret is so exhausting, forgive yourself. We don’t forgive ourselves enough. Oprah said “forgiveness is letting go of the hope that the past could have been any different”.
So in essence let go of the hope that you could have made better choices, let go of the guilt, let go of it all and celebrate how much growth has happened. You’ll still make more mistakes, we all will. Let’s just pray for grace to catch us big hug ? #Byeeeee

A notorious fraudster fled from authorities in the UK by booking a flying lesson and then convincing the flying instructor to drop him off in France during a lesson, a court has heard.
According to Mail Online, Jamie Colwell had been convicted of a £1m VAT scam alongside his ailing father, Brian and both men faced lengthy prison sentences. But while on bail, Jamie Colwell, 51, came up with a plan to flee the country.
He reportedly first hired a third party to drive his 74-year-old father to France via Dover in his new Porsche Cayenne. The driver then returned bringing back with Brian Colwell’s passport for his son to use as his had been confiscated as part of his bail conditions.
Jamie then booked a flying lesson in south-east Kent in his father’s name.
When the aircraft entered French airspace he convinced the instructor to land at an airfield in the Pas-de-Calais region and let him out, the court heard.
He met up with his father and the pair fled to Malaga in Spain, according to the report.
The court also heard the two men hired the same person to drive a rental van with their furniture to the Costa Del Sol.
After the defendants failed to re-appear at Bournemouth Crown Court in January for sentencing, officials from HMRC launched an investigation and were able to track the rental van’s journey to an address in southern Spain where the father and son were arrested in May.
The father and son were extradited back to the UK where Jamie Colwell was jailed for five years and three months and his father imprisoned for two years and eight months for fraud.
They also admitted offences of breaching court bail conditions and were each given an extra six months on top of their original sentences.
Former beauty queen, Dabota Lawson has come out to say that she regrets ever getting married to her billionaire ex-husband, Sunny Aku.
According to her, the only achievement she believed she has made was the birth of her daughter and not even her marriage to Billionaire Aku.
She then used the medium to enlighten Nigerians to always take their time before they finally conclude on deciding on anything they plan doing.
The ex beauty queen wrote:
”This weekend I spent a lot of time thinking and talking about past events in my life . My friends kept saying Dabota everything happens for a reason and you are who you are today because of all that has happened. But I said to them and myself NO!! I’m not soooo thankful, I wish I made better decisions and was careful before getting involved with certain things and certain people .
I wish I could see the future of how some of my poor decisions will stay hunting me , because they actually do ? Every time I win or do better it’s because I chose to and I took a right turn , not always because I’ve learned a lesson. The only thing I know is my mind and heart is just stronger, too strong for my own good, I’m almost not in touch with reality and strictly focused on pursuing goals and making sure everyone and everything around me is fine.
I miss being care free and the softness and innocence I used to have. I hate the fact that I have major trust issue and assume everyone has an ulterior motive around me . I mostly regret ever getting married in 2014 ( please keep all that lessons and whatever you think I got from it talk ) I hate the fact that I did !PERIOD!
The only I did right that keeps me going was making the decisions to go through with my pregnancy and have my child . My daughter is only thing I’ve done right in the world over 25 years of my life . That’s how I feel.
Be careful the decisions you make in life . This is a very stern warning , everything you do has a consequence that only you will experience in way only you can understand . BE VERY CAREFUL ! HAVE A GREAT WEEK !”

A police detective has taken to social media to enlighten Nigerians about another trick being used by fraudsters on unsuspecting victims.
Ogbonnaya Nwota, revealed that a young lady simply identified as Amaka, is currently in police custody after she was involved in a fraud case of N5 million which was paid into her account by a “good Samaritan” from Facebook who later rewarded her with N100,000.
Read below what the detective shared on Facebook;
She went down on her knees as she was ushered into my office, weeping uncontrollably, she muttered, ‘Officer, please, help me. I need your help. Yes, I acted stupidly, but I didn’t do it’. Having comported herself, I demanded to know her story regarding a case of fraud of N5, 000, 000 (Five Million Naira) I was investigating.
Amaka, 33, tall, elegant, hippy and busty, a young graduate in Owerri, is an active netizen of social media. She belongs to many Facebook groups. On one of the groups, the Admin on a Sunday morning asked members to post their account details, as someone maybe touched to ‘do Sunday’ for them. Different account details flowed ceaselessly on the group’s platform and few confessed how some hitherto unknown persons have credited their accounts. Amaka got a chat up from someone who promised to send money to her the following day being Monday. The duo chatted for about 15 minutes on Facebook with the man bragging how money wasn’t his problem but a good lady to spend it on. They ended up booking an appointment to see each other the following day since both of them stay in same city.
Both kept to the time of their appointment and in a few minutes, ordered for food in an exquisite eatery where the meeting was taken place. The guy re-emphasized how wealthy a man he is to Amaka and promised to see her more often, when he returns from his intended overseas trip. The guy was glued to his phone and ipad, pressing them interchangeably and smiling intermittently at no one in particular. As they were about to leave, he told Amaka to expect an alert of N50, 000 from him and while he was paying the bills for their order, Amaka got an alert of N5, 000, 000 (Five Million naira), which she didn’t notice initially was N5, 000, 000 until when the guy asked her to recheck the alert she got, telling her that he mistakenly transferred 5M instead of 50k as promised.
Both headed to the bank in the guy’s car. He told Amaka to withdraw the entire 5M from the bank, pay whatever charges and hand over the cash to him. He as well upgraded Amaka’s cash gift to 100k. Amaka who was already elated dashed into the bank, while the guy sat comfortably in his car outside the bank premises. About 30 minutes later, Amaka was back in the guy’s car and handed over the cash to him, having collected her N100k. She was dropped off few minutes after and she boarded a taxi to her house with indescribable happiness written over her face. What a day she exclaimed as she opened the door to her house. No sex, no request for sex, no touch, no even a hug and she was given N100K. It was simply unbelievable to her.
A week later Amaka was at her bank’s ATM to withdraw some cash, but the card got trapped. She went into the bank to lodge a complaint and possibly retrieve her card, but instead of giving her the card, she was handed over to the Police and that was how she was brought to my office.
Police investigations linked Amaka’s bank account to a sum of Five Million naira moved from a certain company’s account that was hacked into by some fraudsters.
Investigation is ongoing, but until Amaka produces the guy she alleged transferred the said money to her, of course whose Facebook is no longer in existence and phone number inactive and the guy also admits to have made the said transfer to Amaka, Amaka will definitely be contesting her innocence in the court of law, where she will be charged for fraud.
Times are perilous, my people. The criminals are obviously getting wiser and you must remain vigilant in order not to be tacitly involved in a crime you know nothing about. Secure your account details and report to the Police if you receive any suspicious credit alert.

A business consultant has taken to Facebook, to remind Nigerian singer, Banky W of his past actions during voters card collection following his recent declaration of his intention to run for politics and the singer now replied stating his side of the story.
Peppy Chidinma Akaniro wrote her narrative on the platform and shared an incident that occurred back in May; how she and others were waiting in line to collect their PVCs when Banky walked in, jumped the line and went straight into the school in Maruwa, Lekki, to be attended to.
When Adesua arrived, he came out to lead her in so she could also get the attention of the officials while others who had been waiting on the queue all morning were neglected.
Chidinma said Banky did same when Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, his wife Cynthia, and Tunde Demuren all arrived.
When they were done, the officials stopped attending to others and spent time taking photos with Banky and other celebrities.
She went on to point out that it is a sign that Banky doesn’t understand the travails of voters, therefore may not be able to give them the change they deserve.
Banky has now acknowledged Chidinma’s open letter and shared a reply in which he explained his side of things.

Months after they ran into trouble in Nigeria for allegedly being the brain behind gossip website, Naijagistlive – which was slandering many rich men – Jyoti and Kiran Matharoo have now revealed how to date a lot of billionaires.
In the interview with New York Times, the sisters maintained that they weren’t behind the website which, at a time, specifically targeted a Nigerian billionaire, leading to their arrest and decision to flee Nigeria.
They added that they have been inundated with messages from women, asking for guidance on finding a billionaire sugar daddy. According to them, don’t be greedy.
“When he asks what kind of car you want, don’t ask for a Rolls-Royce,” Jyoti said. Second, observe proper “jetiquette” by dressing conservatively on his Cessna. “You don’t want to look like some guy hired a hooker for a weekend,” Kiran said.
And, obviously, when he hands you thousands of dollars for a luxury shopping spree, bring him back some change. However, they said, men and their money are not worth the trouble. “There’s always going to be a guy saying, ‘Let me spoil you,’ who wants to fly us somewhere,” Jyoti said.

A Nigerian politician and a member of the African Democratic Congress ADC, Paul Danjuma Okpo, has been accused of negligence after his wife, Georgina Oluoma-Ukpo, died with the set of twins she was carrying.
Late Georgina’s sister, Austa Oluoma-Njoku, who took to Facebook to call Mr Okpo out, said he was more concerned about his political career than his wife’s health.
Austa said her sister had the set of twins after undergoing IVF and her husband let her die after she fell ill.
She wrote on facebook ;
On the 6th of October 2018, Paul Danjuma Okpo at few minutes to 7pm put a call to one of my sisters saying, “see how your sister(Georgina Oluoma-Okpo) is sleeping, is this what she should be doing? She can’t even come and congratulate me for winning the primaries, is this a proper time to be doing this(IVF)? E be like say dem go comot am o”. He also said a whole lot of things. He then went ahead and took a picture of her(Gina) and sent to my other sister.
She pleaded with him to be patient with her saying ” na so women dey do when dem need attention from their husband” just to calm him, thinking it was his usual rant, cos he calls her a lot like that to lay complains.
She called back later about 8 and 9pm to check on her to know if she had woken up and also to know if she was better but the husband said she was still sleeping that the doctor asked her to rest, that she will be better when she wakes up.
At 10:55pm, she called again to check on her, he then said again that she was still sleeping, that was when my sister realised say water don pass garri. She screamed and begged him to take her to the hospital that it was abnormal and upon close examination of the picture he sent earlier, she noticed that Gina looked weak in the pic, pain and weakness was writing all over her face. She begged him over and over again, even her husband tried to talk to him over the phone but he shooshed him saying “I’m not in the mood for that now”.
To worsen it all, he(paul) said Gina had even vomitted and peed on herself, and he doesn’t know if he could sleep in that room that night. He claimed 11pm was too late for him to go out. And that he was tired. That he would take her to the hospital the following morning. Then he switched off his phone.
On sunday 7th October 2018, at about 4am, my sister called again to check on her but Paul’s phone was switched off and so was my sister’s(Gina). She kept calling at intervals until she got him around 5am, but paul hadn’t left for the hospital, he said he wasn’t going till 6am.
Paul took her to the hospital later and treatment commenced, then he left and went to a “more important event”. He went for ADC presidential rally abi na Congress.
Several calls were put to him that morning to check on her but we were given the impression she was been taken care of. My sister even volunteered to travel to Abuja to look after her but he told her not to worry, that his brother was with her.
Because of the continuous “disturbance” like he tagged it, he turned off his phone and went straight home after the rally.
When Gina’s condition got worse and the hospital needed her to be transferred to National hospital for intensive care, Paul was out of reach as his phone was off, the doctor had to put on Gina’s phone and started calling people on her dialled list, at 2am of Monday 8th they got us, that was how we knew her condition was critical.
At about 3am we were able to get a relative in Abuja, and she was at the hospital at about 5am. So they started processing the document for transfer, before they finished, paul arrived. So both of them took her to National hospital Abuja. She was then put on life oxygen as she couldn’t breathe on her own. The following day, we sent another person to go support my aunt that was taking care of her since it had become clear we couldn’t trust paul anymore.
News got to us that her kidneys were failing, it was such a shock because she had never complained of Urinary track problems before, the doctors say she hadn’t passed urine for days. This is the same person we were told peed on herself 2days before. Hmmm.
A dialysis was needed to be carried out on her but reasons best known to paul and the hospital( I say so cos we couldn’t reach the doctor treating her, we were told to ask the husband for any information we needed. I still don’t understand why) . Dialysis wasn’t done till 2days later when another of my sister and my brother visited the Hospital, it was like they needed serious push to take her case seriously.
After the dialysis she was moved to another intensive care unit. We weren’t allowed in until visiting hours or few times when we were called in. She had started passing urine by now and we were hopeful she would get better.
The following day, we were told all other organs were shutting down, heart, lungs, liver, kidney, bladder. I mean how is that even possible? Someone who had dialysis in about 24 hours and now all other organs were shutting down. Then she was put on life support….

“You feed your children well with the word of God and you are very submissive. No wonder my children, Dammy and Joshua have always been praying that the Lord will give them a wife like their mother. That was why it took Dammy long time to find a lady like his mother because they are very scarce.”
Head of states, President Buhari on Sunday, in Paris, France, called for stringent actions against perpetrators of illicit financial flows, including crackdown on safe heavens, warning that continuous impunity will encourage more pilfering of countries’ resources to the detriment of poor and vulnerable populace.
Speaking at the first edition of the Paris Peace Forum held on the sidelines of the Centenary of Armistice Day, President Buhari said Nigeria has strengthened its laws and institutions to fight corruption, fast-track recovery of stolen assets and punish offenders, urging more commitment from governments and international institutions.
The President delivered his statement on “Illicit Financial Flows (Iffs) and Corruption: The Challenge of Global Governance” during the event, attended by about 70 world leaders and governments.
“We must crack down on safe havens for corrupt assets. I also advocate sanctions by professional bodies against transactional middlemen (lawyers, bankers, brokers, public officials, etc.) who facilitate Illicit Financial Flows.
“I would like to reiterate that the Government of Nigeria remains open and is ever willing to continue to identify and share experiences and strategies to give life to the ideas that will lead to winning the fight against corruption,” the President said.
He noted that illicit financial flows pose a risk to the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as many countries grapple with the challenge of gathering resources to improve their Human Development Index, while a few privileged individuals continue to explore the weaknesses in financial systems.
“Our experience in Nigeria is that financial crimes, such as corruption and fraudulent activities, generate enormous unlawful profits which often prove so lucrative that the threat of a jail term is not sufficient to deter perpetrators.
“A more powerful deterrent is to ensure that profits and assets generated from illicit financial flows and corruption are recovered and returned to countries of origin.
“This is not to under-estimate the value of strong institutions. It only indicates that asset recovery represents significant deterrence compared to the traditional focus on obtaining conviction by the law enforcement agencies of the countries of origin,’’ President Buhari said.
The President urged world leaders and global institutions to remain resolute on the Global Declaration Against Corruption made in London in 2016, which encapsulates the collective commitment to the principles of Open Government Partnership, especially the National Action Plans to actualize beneficial ownership transparency and enhance the capacity of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs).
He said the Independent Reporting Mechanisms and support for the activities of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes should be reinforced.
“As we take stock of the strengths and weaknesses of domestic, regional and international mechanisms against Illicit Financial Flows, I seize this opportunity to recall the Global Declaration Against Corruption made in London in 2016 and our commitment thereto,” he added.
President Buhari said tremendous progress had been achieved through the enactment of global instruments, noting that some fundamental technical issues remain unresolved.
“These revolve around the formulation of policy and regulatory frameworks that cut across different jurisdictions. We must not lose sight of the role played by secret companies, banks and law firms, all too often based in developed economies and their related offshore centres.
“Recent studies reveal that flaws in the global financial system enable corrupt individuals to hide details of their financial dealings under the noses of governments and law enforcement agencies. This underscores the need to urgently address the issue of Mutual Legal Assistance, as well as continental legal frameworks, in the context of safe havens for illicit transfers,’ he said.
He disclosed that the Whistle-Blowing policy had facilitated recovery of billions of naira from corrupt persons, which had been redirected to the development of critical infrastructure and programmes that will benefit all Nigerians and realisation of the SDGs.
At the continental level, the President said the African Union had bestowed on him the honour to champion the fight against corruption, which would be focused on strengthening international cooperation on asset tracing, recovery and repatriation, and enhancing cooperation between the African Union and the United Nations’ anti-corruption monitoring mechanisms.

Why did @MBuhari order such a large military force to surround and search the plane of @Atiku, the Presidential candidate of the @OfficialPDPNig? Was he hoping that they’d find his non existing @WAECNigeria certificate? Our security should face Boko Haram not Atiku #RenosDarts

The girl in question is not a citizen of Nigeria , she went with her France passport and other documents issued by the France consulate , all they needed to do was to verify the passport but no the manager said he is not comfortable with the passport so she can’t fly with them , he actually dropped the passport and took to his heels . Imagine the immigration saying she should get a Nigerian visa , for what ?I don’t know .
How will you ask her to get a Nigerian visa to go to France , I don’t understand this and I need some explanation, after that they said she should get a Nigerian passport, for what please???this is wrong and I am so angry at that . The same manager has agreed to carry the girl with additional cost and all. Which way Nigeria, why are we treated like uneducated animals and why are these people acting like important fools , all you need to do is do your job and do it right . When will this stop .
The security at the departure are not helping matters , how can you ask me to pay to let my family see me off to the check in point , this is wrong very wrong . Even the immigration officers wants to collect money for anything they do ….why why why ????.
And I know the mayor @akinwunmiambode of this and every other state can find a lasting solution to this , the president @muhammadubuhari himself can override things to set them right but I bet they don’t even know people are traveling out of the country, check the airport all you see are Nigerians running away from the country.
I have never seen an EMIRATI or an AMERICAN that will run away from their country. Until you have no one to govern or be a president over before you know .
LONG LIVE SCARED NIGERIANS

A pepper seller was, this morning, publicly battered by his deadbeat husband, who also extended his rage to their daughter in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to a Journalist identified as Adeoye, who witnessed the incident, the lady is the breadwinner of the house.
From the video, the man was accusing her of talking to him anyhow.
In a post on her page, Adeoye said:
“This morning, i woke up to go and buy something outside from a woman dat sells pepper in ibadan ojoo area.
I got there and lo and behold, i met d woman’s husband beaten her blue black even with her children crying and the first born, a female, was beaten by the same man.
I was confused cos i don’t interfere in relationship (bf &gf) not to talk of marriage wey pikin don enter. The funny aspect is its this woman that pays the rent, feeds her children and pays for their school fees.
She goes to farm around 5am, comes back around 9am, shuffles and arranges her market, hawks and comes back 7pm latest. Cooks for the fool that didn’t drop #10, according to her, and still beats her.
She was still complaining to me, last night, but i told her to calm down because on a norm, before now, i don’t interfere in their troubles, but this is just too much and the man was even telling the people around to go and call anybody that he is above the law. lol funny fool.
I’m just confused and please is this marriage thing by force? Since she’s the one feeding the children and paying rents, whats the need of dying untimely? God please help this generation.
For people that said why didn’t yet separate them, mind you, we did. The stupid guy even pushed a very old woman to the floor.”
A female singer from Botswana identified as Lorraine Lionheart was in Nigeria recently for the just-concluded Felabration, and she’s spoken about what she observed from her interactions with men in Abuja and Lagos.
In an interview with Vanguard, Lorraine said: “I had the opportunity to spend a bit of time in Abuja, and the men there were different from men in Lagos.
Lagos is a highly commercial city and a lot of men there tend to give interpersonal interactions a commercial approach, maybe without realising it.
I don’t know how else to put this, but personally, I was overwhelmed with how much money I got offered by men randomly in Lagos. In Abuja, men want to talk to you even in the streets and have an actual conversation. But in Lagos they walk to you with their mobile phone already open, ready to store your number, they don’t have time.
Everything has a price in Lagos. But I love that go-getter attitude of Lagos men though. They see what they want and they don’t hesitate. I was in a nightclub in Abuja, and there was a guy staring at me all night but afraid to talk to me.
Every time I turned around there he was still looking at me. But not doing anything about it. In Lagos it would have been a different story altogether.”
