Ex-Ugandan Vice President, Dr. Gilbert Bukenya, has waded into Nigeria’s 2019 elections and according to him he would have voted for Atiku Abubakar if he was a Nigerian.
Dr. Gilbert Bukenya who served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Makrere, said he was left with so much to contemplate, during his encounter with Abubakar, that he never stopped thinking of how Nigerians are so lucky having the person of Atiku Abubakar as a Nigerian.
He further disclosed that when he heard Abubakar had joined the presidential race, he immediately thought, “what an extraordinary opportunity Nigerians have.”

“I have rubbed shoulders with several African Presidents and Vice-Presidents. I have participated in many conversations with these men – both formally and informally. Some of these conversations have attracted attention and many have been amusing – but very few have included intellectual and analytical discussions of substantive issues. Seldom in these conversations does one hear about the conditions and needs of the country’s poor.
In 2005, I met a man at his residence in Abuja, Nigeria, who surprised me. He welcomed me with a guarded smile and went straight to business. He was smart, eloquent and very knowledgeable. I was struck by his consistent reference to “my people.” He was so concerned about the poor. He discussed impacts of educational injustices and weakened agricultural practices in Nigeria. Our conversation ended and we parted.
While I left him with some traditional Ugandan gifts, he left me with much to contemplate. This Nigerian “big man” had sounded so earnest and completely devoted to “his people”. Surely, I was surprised and he has left a lasting impression. We have remained friends over the years and I have observed his business and political dealings over time. I have noted the tremendous value that this man, Atiku Abubakar, has contributed to Nigeria’s development.
He has been a philanthropic leader and a determined and passionate advocate for improving the national educational system. I heard recently with great pleasure that he is running for the Presidency in the upcoming Presidential elections. I immediately thought, “what an extraordinary opportunity Nigerians have to elect Atiku as president of Nigeria.” If I were Nigerian, I would vote for Atiku Abubakar without hesitation or reservation. On an individual basis, he is unequivocally the best candidate.”

While his book launch is still ongoing, it has been gathered that former President Goodluck Jonathan accused former US President, Barack Obama of interfering in 2015 elections in his book titled ‘My Transition Hours’.
According to Goodluck Jonathan, Obama sent his secretary of state, John Kerry, and made a video broadcast to Nigerians in ways designed to influence the outcome of the election against him.
The former Nigerian President who described this as ‘humiliating’, eventually lost the election to President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and conceded while the final results were yet to be announced — a step unprecedented in Nigeria’s history.
The Former President also addressed the controversy, caused by the postponement of the election from February 14 to March 28.
Jonathan who tried to justify the rescheduling of the elections but dismissed claims that he was trying to elongate his tenure, added that it was because of the security situation caused by the Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east.

‘THIS IS HYPOCRISY’
He wrote:
“I can recall that President Obama sent his Secretary of State to Nigeria, a sovereign nation, to protest the rescheduling of the election. John Kerry arrived in Nigeria on Sunday January 25, 2015 and said ‘it’s imperative that these elections happen on time as scheduled’.
“How can the US Secretary of State know what is more important for Nigeria than Nigeria’s own government? How could they have expected us to conduct elections when Boko Haram controlled part of the North East and were killing and maiming Nigerians? Not even the assurance of the sanctity of the May 29, 2015 handover date could calm them down. In Nigeria, the constitution is very clear. No President can extend his tenure by one day.
“On March 23, 2015, President Obama himself took the unusual step of releasing a video message directly to Nigerians all but telling them how to vote.
In that video, Obama urged Nigerians to open the ‘next chapter’ by their votes. Those who understood subliminal language deciphered that he was prodding the electorate to vote for the opposition to form a new government. The message was so condescending, it was as if Nigerians did not know what to do and needed an Obama to direct them.
“In his message, he said ‘all Nigerians must be able to cast their votes without intimidation or fear,’ yet his government was vehemently and publicly against the postponement of the elections to enable our military defeat Boko Haram and prevent them from intimidating voters. This was the height of hypocrisy!”
Jonathan said the foreign pressure on the issue of election rescheduling was intense, suggesting that “the curious posture” was of one who had been “deceived before and therefore had every reason to cede no credence to our position. But there was no reason to have such a posture”.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan further disclosed that David Cameron, then the UK prime minister, called to express his concern about the election rescheduling, “just as John Kerry came from the United States to express further worry… In fact, John Kerry did not accept our reasons for the rescheduling”.
According to him, it was “unbelievable” because “we knew why the agitation was beyond what meets the eyes. There were deeper political interests”.
“In attendance at the meeting of the Council of State where the decision to reschedule the election was taken were almost all the living former Heads of State of this country.
That should have convinced John Kerry of the good intentions of the government. He cannot claim to love and defend Nigeria more than all our former heads of state present at the meeting.
I have stated earlier how Kerry’s visit was designed to humiliate a sitting Nigerian president and clearly take sides in the country’s election,” Jonathan wrote

A 26-year-old Prophetess’ son, Friday Akinlaja has been remanded at the Olokuta Medium Prison for raping a 9-year-old girl in Oda area of Akure, Ondo state capital.
The suspect said to be the son of a popular Prophetess of a Pentecostal Church in Akure, was arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Police Command after the crime was reported by neighbors which subsequently culminated in his arraignment in court on Monday, for sexually abusing the minor.
Daily Post reported that the suspect who was dragged before Magistrate Olanipekun Mayomi, on a one-count charge of rape and defilement of the minor, blamed the devil for his crime.
It was gathered that he gave the sum of ‘N110’ to the 9-year-old girl, after raping her.
Dr. Thomas-Wilson Ikubese, a medical practitioner who first shared the story wrote;
“The man decided to take advantage of the little girl because of the poor status of her parents.
“The poor girl was yet to have her meal all day as 8 pm (on the day of the incident) and the man came visiting.
“The man came visiting when her mum had gone out to look for money to feed her children.
“He then decided that the girl should follow him so he could buy her some bread and Ankara, only to rape the poor girl and give her a pantry of N110.
“A sum which she couldn’t even make use of again because of the pains and anguish had taken over,” he said.
A man, identified as Jake Bushell who savagely attacked his ex-girlfriend and beat her beyond recognition after she broke up with him, has been jailed for 28 months.
Jake Bushell left Jade Gallagher with multiple injuries after he showed up at her home drunk and high on cocaine.
According to UK Mirror, Mr. Bushell, launched the “despicable” attack on her October 21 as he wouldn’t take no for an answer when Jade announced she was done with the relationship.
Before his arrest, the 22-year-old was already subject to a court order for stalking Miss Gallagher and using a ladder to creep into her room in the middle of the night.
According to the Chronicle Live, Bushell, who appeared to sneer at the camera in his mugshot, has been jailed for 28 months and banned from contacting his victim indefinitely.
Miss Gallagher said in a statement said;
“I thought he was going to kill me.
“I’m sure if I had not managed to escape he would have killed me.
“He showed no signs of stopping and was completely out of control.
“Even in the street, with neighbours watching, he continued to assault me.
“It was completely unprovoked and the punching was relentless, even when I was unconscious. He was still hitting me when I came round.”
The court heard the attack happened at her home six weeks after he was in court and given a community order and restraining order for stalking Miss Gallagher by pestering her with phone calls and climbing through her bedroom window during the night, UK Mirror reported.
Prosecutor Claire Anderson told the court the former couple had both been at the same party that night and the violence flared back at her house.

In the early hours of today, we reported that, On Air Personality, Tosyn Bucknor was found ded in her apartment, by her french husband.
Her sister, Funke Bucknor Obruthe, the CEO of Zapphire events, has confirmed the death and revealed her sister died of sickle cell complications last night.
Funke who disclosed cause of the media personality’s death on social media, wrote;
‘My heart is heavy, but in all things we give thanks to God. My darling sister and besto Tosyn passed away last night due to complications from sickle cell. Love you’.
An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has shot a man identified as Taofeeq Abdulquadri in the head.
The yet-to-be-identified officer was alleged to have shot Taofeeq multiple times in Oke-Odo community of Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
According to residents, Taofeeq was shot multiple times, his head was visibly shattered and his skull blown open.
An eyewitness who narrated the incident to SaharaReporters said that Taofeeq, aged 30, was on his way to his house around 9pm when he was stopped by the officer. He added that the duo engaged in a short argument and the incident resulted in Taofeeq being shot.
“Taofeeq was coming from where he went to eat when this officer stopped him. He and the NSCDC official had an altercation and the next thing we saw was that the NSCDC man brought out his gun and pulled the trigger,” the eyewitness said.
Residents in the community said the official was recently deployed to the area to join the team on ground as part of efforts to address the increased pipeline vandalism in the community.
They also lamented that the NSCDC had been intimidating residents in the community by shooting indiscriminately.
“It is an open secret in our community that the NSCDC, who are supposed to be guarding against vandals, are the vandals themselves. The NSCDC invite tankers in the middle of the night to scoop petrol. They are doing nothing here, absolutely nothing. We don’t need them here again,” a victim of the harrassment by the officials told SaharaReporters.
Taofeeq’s sister, Nifemi Basirat, revealed to our correspondent that his body is currently in the custody of the Police, while the suspect has been detained by the Police.
“After my brother was killed, some police officers from Oke-Odo Police Division, which is the nearest station, came into the community and they took away his body. When we went to request his body for burial, we were told that we can’t take it yet,” she said.
Our correspondent gathered that the youth of the community, angered by the killing of Taofeeq, destroyed the NSCDC office in the area. Police officers were deployed to maintain peace and order in the community.
When contacted, spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Chike Oti, tactically declined comment on the issue, saying he would call our reporter for comments on the killing. However, he failed to call back even when sent a reminder.

17-year-old and wives on strike actress, Tito Segun-Banjo, has been declared missing by her family.
In an interview with LIB, Tito’s mum, Wemimo Segun-Banjo, said her daughter who featured in Omoni Oboli’s Wives on Strike, the Revolution, left their home in Ipaja, Lagos state on Saturday November 17th to run some errands for her dad and has since not returned home.

She was found dead, last night, by her husband of 3 years, Aurelien Boyer, when he arrived at home from work.
The cause of death is unknown, but according to multiple reports, Tosyn, A UNILAG graduate was born with sickle cell anaemia.
The On Air Personality, who has been in Top Radio for sometime recently bagged a new talk show with Inspiration FM.

However, reports on the same social media now have it that the said ‘Zubair’ AKA Zaza money, allegedly stole the money he used in order to prove his love and impress his teenage girlfriend.
It was also reported that he was caught and given the beating of a lifetime as the person whom he stole it from is his ‘brother-in-law’.
Some Twitter users who seem to know the couple, have also disclosed that the SS3 student was beaten by her parents over the gifts and relationship.

Photos of Curvy Ghanaian actress and socialite, Moesha Buduong, appeared in a fraud case in the US during the recent episode of Face The Truth with American actress and TV host Vivica A.Fox.
During the episode, it was revealed that a white man named Robert has been repeatedly scammed through a certain Alanna posing as Moesha. Images of the Curvy Ghanaian actress on an International passport and ID card with the name Alanna were also displayed in the show. 
It was also revealed that Robert has been sending money to the fraudster in Ghana, and at one point after he invited her over to the States, he waited for her at the airport for hours but she never showed up.
Meanwhile, actress Moesha Buduong, is yet to react to the fraud case.

Nollywood actress Mary Remmy Njoku has taken to her Instagram page to call out the Lagos International Airport over an alleged negligence from airport staff.
According to the actress, she tried to use the toilet while at the airport, but surprisingly there was no water in the closets and the toilets were full.

Babcock University Students Association has confirmed that Nigerian singer, Kizz Daniel, who was held hostage by students of the University for refusing to perform after he was reportedly paid N3.5m, has returned the money.
Yesterday it was reported that the superstar was held hostage by students of the institution after allegedly collecting N3m for a show and failing to show up for his performance.
Now, Babcock University Student Association (BUSA) has released official statement explaining what went down and further said KIzz Daniel has returned the money he was paid to perform.
According to them, Kizz Daniel arrived late because he had just returned from Dubai and no specific time was agreed between both parties at the time of negotiation.
‘We send our sincere apologies to Kizz Daniel and the students of Babcock University for any inconvenience experienced.
We hereby repudiate any defamatory content against BUSA, Kizz Daniel and Fly boy INC’ the statement partly read.
