Officials of the Anambra State Government yesterday arrested a mentally-challenged and a Sum of N200,000 was found in possession.
Southern City News learnt that the woman, said to be in her 50s and always seen around Aroma Junction in Awka, the state capital, was arrested by government officials with the intention to take her to a mental home in the state.
A government source, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the officials approached the woman and led her into their van, but she protested that she would not leave behind her properties.
The source said,
“So, the officials told her they would not carry all the waste she referred to as properties, but she should take anything that was most valuable to her. That was when she ransacked the waste and dug out the money. “We were curious because she is a woman who is mentally sick and used to beg around Aroma Junction in Awka.
“In the process, N200,000 was recovered from her.”
A passerby, who identified himself as Tony, added,
“I know this woman. She is always neat despite her condition. She buys her own food each time she is hungry.
“She did not disclose the source of the money, but it can be from the proceeds of alms she had received over time.
“Again, it has long been suspected that men always sneaked into her place at night to meet her.”
Emeka Okoye a convener and a tech enthusiast, has shared an amazing discovery of a village school in Akwa, Anambra State, where some school children broke the norm to emerge as one of the most gifted sets of kids ever seen.

Beautiful Nigerian model, Seun Ajila who was allegedly raped and murdered at her family house has been buried.
Seun is the only child of her 60-year-old mother, was murdered at her family home located at Sunday bus stop in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Thursday, October 4th. She was laid to rested today, October 18th.
Seun was said to be home when her killer came in and murdered her. Her boyfriend, Adejimola Ebenezer, has since been arrested and is being interrogated over the murder.
Ebenezer has however denied having anything to do with her murder. He said they had no issues that would warrant him taking the life of the lady whom he professes love to.

According to a Facebook user Oluyemi Ajibola, who shared the news on his timmeline, the baby was christened on Sunday, October 14, by Pastor Olusola Oyewole of Divine Heights Bible Church, Abeokuta, Nigeria.
The Police in Calabar, Cross River State capital, have arrested a female Swiss Gold Ponzi scheme operator over N1 billion fraud collected from investors.
The suspect, identified as Lizzy Efa was nabbed as she attempted to cross into neighbouring Cameroon in hope of absconding. It was learnt that Mrs. Efa was taken to Calabar after her arrest at the border between Nigeria and Cameroon in Bakassi.
The investors stormed the Zone 6 Police Headquarters, Calabar, demanding that the matter be transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to avoid bias, because they believe that she has been arrested before and nothing was done.
One of the investors, a petroleum dealer, Mr. Justus Austin, disclosed that he has lost N11.6m to the scheme.
He called on EFCC to take over the matter from the police, adding that the lady was set free by the police after she was first arrested two months ago.
“People have invested so much money in the name of Swiss Gold; she is a breakaway from another group. She was initially arrested but the police released her with a promise that she was going to pay after three months.
“They tracked one of the major investors to the Government House on Tuesday with huge funds. She was of one those acting as intermediary to collect money from investors and it was through her that Efa was tracked.
“Meanwhile, we had lodged our petition with the EFCC, over the huge funds we paid into the scheme. My wife and I, for instance mopped about N11.5m from our small businesses and lumped into the scheme.
“The whole of Zone Six Police Command was crowded when they arrested her. The police should hand over the matter to EFCC; otherwise the matter will be spoilt. She raked in over N1bn within three months,” he said.
Another investor, Mr. Clement Icha, said they were tired of the way the matter was earlier handled by the police and would want the EFCC to handle the matter this time for speedy recovery of their capital, which many of them sold property to raise.
“Many of us borrowed to invest while some sold their property to put in money in scheme; we are not even asking for the profit anymore, she should just return the capital. I am paying the bank N2 million every month to service the loan I got to invest in the scheme, “he lamented.
When contacted, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Nelson Ukpabi, confirmed the incident, adding that Mrs. Efa was in their custody and investigation was on going.
His words,
”I saw a mammoth crowd yesterday evening and I inquired what was going on. I was told a lady involved in Swiss Gold Ponzi scheme was just arrested and the people, who she did business with were trying to see her.
“She will be charged to court as soon as possible, but investigations are ongoing.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Kaduna Zonal office has investigated a case of conspiracy and theft reported to the Commission by an exceptional father.
The father (name witheld) in April 2017 became a whistle blower after his son (then a secondary school student) intimated him that he had bought a house and a shop valued over N2 Million (Two Million Naira) only.
The information of the purchase shocked the father beyond his imagination as such he decided to make a formal complain to the Commission having perceived signs of fraud from his son’s explanantion of how he got the money.
His son, Adamu, said he got the money through his phone line which after purchase he began receiving alerts running into millions of Naira.
Investigations into the matter began immediately and all parties involved were invited accordingly and their statements were taken as the principal accused person mentioned two other accomplicies in the crime.
In the course of investigations, it was discovered that Adamu withdrew monies in bits from a First Bank account number 3033389599 owned by one Porong Daniel Nash (a farmer in plateau state); and credited same to different accounts.
Consequently, all accused persons where arrested and recoveries were made to the tune of N939,000 (Nine Hundred and Thirty Nine Thousand Naira) only of which same was returned to the rightful owner by the Zonal Office.

Recall that last weekend, Nina had a live Instagram session with her former co-contestant and love interest, Miracle, where she stated that she has forgiven him and that they are now friends. In this interview with Hero Daniel, Toyin explained why she was very angry with Nina.

Hundreds lost their lives to those cretins.
Buhari failed them.
The list of Buhari’s failures is honestly longer than his promises because after he failed to keep to his promises, he became bored and searched for more ways to fail us.
The 2019 elections is whispers away and Buhari is soliciting for votes. He’s campaigning. He wants to win again. He wants to remain in Aso rock.
Dear Buhari, how do you live with yourself? How do you feel when the entire country is weeping, when everybody has a different pain they are living with because of your presence as president?? How do you feel?
Days ago, that innocent girl was killed. Those monsters killed her. They gave you a deadline to negotiate her freedom and you let her die!
You failed her. Her family. This country. You failed humanity.

Super Eagles striker, Odion Jude Ighalo, says the death threats himself and his family members got after Nigeria’s exit from the 2018 World cup tournament in Russia, almost forced him to retire from International football.
In an interview with KweseESPN, the 29-year-old China-based star said he got concerned when his fans turned against him and bombarded him and his wife, Sonia, with series of death threat.
Ighalo was serious attacked after losing few score points during Nigeria’s match against Argentina. In the Interview, Odion said;

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today released some photos of ex-governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti properties.
The photos were today released by the Spokesman for the Commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren.
According to him, the properties were uncovered while the anti-graft agency was investigating the allegations of corruption against the former governor.
He alleged that Mr Fayose purchased the property with the money he purportedly received from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki. He said;
“In the course of investigating corruption allegations against ex-governor Ayodele Fayose, especially the N1.3billion which he collected from the office of the National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki, the Commission unearthed evidence that he laundered the funds into the acquisition of properties in choice locations in Abuja and Lagos.”

The EFCC released the pictures of Fayose’s properties a day after the former governor arrived at its head office in Abuja, in company with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and a former minister, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, among other well-wishers.
Fayose had in September promised to report at the anti-corruption agency’s office after handing over government to his successor, Governor Kayode Fayemi.
The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has assured people of the state that the next All Progressives Congress, APC, Governor will sustain his programmes and policies in the state.
Governor Ambode lost his second term bid to ex-Commissioner, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Ambode spoke while addressing the gathering at the 9th Tradesmen and Artisans Week & Graduation Ceremony for Re-Trained Artisans which held in Ikeja.
He said pointed out that the programme and policies of his administration were already embedded in APC manifesto, describing it as a great party.
Ambode was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Tunji Bello.
He said, “You can therefore be rest assured of the continued sustenance of this programme by an All Progressives Congress-controlled government in Lagos State.
“We thank all organisations and individuals from the organised private sector that have joined hands with us in our determination to improve the competence and socio-economic condition of our artisans.”
“Our government will continue to work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to design and executive programmes, to enhance the productivity of tradesmen because, growing the capacity of tradesmen and artisans remain a key component that we cannot afford to ignore,” .
A Bus Rapid Transit, BRT vehicle has crushed a power bike rider, whose identity has yet to be established, to death, in the Agric area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The incident, which happened on Wednesday, reportedly occurred in the BRT lane, Punch Metro reports.
It was gathered that the rider had tried to avoid hitting a pedestrian who was crossing the road. While trying to avoid knocking down the pedestrian, the rider swerved into the BRT lane and an oncoming BRT bus hit the rider and his passenger.
A source said:
“While the pedestrian was trying to cross the road, there was a power bike rider who was speeding, The rider swerved to avoid hitting the pedestrian and both of them, and the power bike passenger fell.
“The BRT bus which was also on motion ran into them. The power bike rider died immediately while the passanger was rushed to the nearest hospital. The pedestrian sustained injuries”
“Immediately the accident happened, some hoodlums came to the scene pretending to render help, but they made away with the mobile phone of the deceased, so he could not be identified.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the accident and called on Nigerians who had not seen their loved one to visit the Owutu Police Station in order to identify the corpse.
He said:
“There was an accident and the rider died on the spot. The Commissioner of Police is calling on people whose relation has a power bike and has not been seen since Wednesday to report to Owutu Police Station so that they can have access to the body in the mortuary.”
The Assistant Chief Security Offer, Primero Nigeria Limited, which operates BRT in the area, Mr Mathew Akinwunmi, said, “It is unfortunate. They rode on an unauthorised lane and suddenly saw a pedestrian crossing.
“The rider tried to avoid hitting him and rode to the front of our bus. The rider died and the other one was rushed to a hospital.”

In the early hours of today Thursday, October 18th, a three storey building collapsed in Nnewi, Anambra leaving no fewer than 11 persons trapped under the rubble.
The building which is located in Okpuno, Otolo, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state, belongs to one Collins Avoyi.
According to the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Mohammed Haruna, nine of the trapped persons have been rescued and taken to hospital while effort was on to get the remaining two out of the rubbles. He said the trapped workers included foreign masons from the Republic of Togo.
Sp Haruna said ;
“A three storey building belonging to one Mr Avoyi Collins ‘m’ collapsed at Okpuno Otolo in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra. Police Patrol rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area to prevent looters from taking advantage of the situation to steal. So far, nine of them were rescued alive from the collapsed building while efforts are ongoing to rescue two others who are still trapped inside the debris. Meanwhile, the rescued victims were rushed to the Community Health Center, Okpuno for medical attention and investigation is ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident,”
Maduike Chukwonye, a former staff of Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, has been arrested over an attempt to sell codeine syrup to an undercover BBC correspondent in Lagos
According to Dailytrust, it was learnt that aside trying to sell the drugs to the reporter, the suspect also sold the drugs to unauthorised persons since he was sacked in May, 2018. Chukwonye tried to flee from the country when he realized that the police were looking for him.
The suspect was recently caught on camera while selling the regulated drugs to a BBC undercover investigator.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said while in the employment of Emzor, the suspect had access to limited quantities of Emzolyn with Codeine for purpose of distribution to licensed retail pharmacies under his assigned territory.
He said due to greed for money, the suspect knowingly supplied the controlled drugs to persons who were not supposed to have access to them contrary to the dictates of the laws of Nigeria.
Edlad added that the suspect, who had been on the run since May, 2018, was eventually arrested by operatives of the command, attached to Area D Headquarters, at Idi Iroko border town in Ogun State, while trying to escape into Cotonou, Benin Republic.
