One of Late Moses Adejumo a.k.a Baba Sala‘s son has narrated how their father, the foremost comedian died in his sleep right after taking supper.
Emmanuel told The Punch that his father, Moses Adejumo, ate his last meal around 6pm and took a rest for a while before he went to bed and died in his sleep.
He stated that Adejumo’s youngest wife, Funmilayo, went to his room to tell him something when she discovered that Baba Sala had died.
He said:
“Baba died last night. He died at 81. I was not there but his wife called the eldest son of the family immediately it happened and that one called me and narrated everything to me. His body had been taken to the mortuary. We will need to hold a meeting before we can fix anytime for his burial. Some of the children are just hearing about it this morning.
“I will miss so many things about my dad. He was a very lively person. He was always advising us even those who were not his biological children, he advised them equally. He would tell you what to do and guide you.
“Though he was not wealthy, he was rich in the knowledge of God and he had a wealth of experience. He would tell us that his own father did not encourage him to be a comedian, that he didn’t have anybody to advise him when he was growing up but he was always guiding us and praying for us.
“He was a prayerful man. He was a Godly person, he never missed morning and evening prayers. If there was anything he was expecting or any trip he wanted to undertake, he would instruct all of us to pray and fast for nothing bad to happen. We all learnt this from him.
“We were together with him two Sundays ago because that day was his Family Harvest Day. He was the minister in charge at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Idasa but that Sunday was set aside for him as his own family harvest and we were there. After the harvest, we played with him before we departed.
“He was not sick. I was told that he ate last night. He did not die of any sickness. It was just the time for him to go and be with the Lord. One of my younger ones talked to him on the telephone on Saturday and he was okay.
His wife, Iya Rhoda, told me that he ate around 6pm and rested for a while before he entered into his room to lie down on the bed.
“His wife went inside the room to tell him something and she discovered that he was not responding. She started calling him, ‘Chairman, Chairman,’ but no response. She shook him and discovered that he had gone.”

This is a sad story of a mother, Oluwaseun Folorunsho, who is accusing a private medical facility in Lagos State, Oak Hospital, of killing her one-year-old son, Ogooluwa.
The 43-year-old mother claimed that workers at the hospital prescribed and administered drugs meant for her four-year-old son, Imole, to Ogooluwa, adding that it was what led to his death.
According to a report by Punch, the mother of the deceased child had on Saturday, September 22, 2018, rushed her two sons to the hospital as both had cough and were vomiting.
It was gathered that a medical test on the children revealed that they both had malaria and an unnamed infection, leading to their being admitted to the hospital. While Imole was placed on drips, Ogooluwa was reportedly given injections.
She went on to say that when she gave Imole food to eat, he refused, adding that his vomiting continued. She said despite her complaints, a doctor at the hospital said all was well.
“On Sunday, Imole, who is the elder, started running a temperature. I called the attention of the doctor to it and he said I should not worry that he would be fine. He said his younger brother was already playing. In the afternoon, one of the nurses came with three injections for Ogooluwa.
I noticed that she used big syringes to give him the injections. She gave him two injections on the thigh and when she was about to give him the third, the liquid escaped from the syringe. She said she would come back to do it again, but she never did.
When Ogoololuwa woke up from sleep, he asked for water. He drank a lot of water. In the evening, the doctor came to check his heartbeat and said he was perfectly normal and he would discharge him. But I told him that the elder brother had not been eating.
He said he would give us drugs and he would also be fine. The doctor discharged the kids and placed them on drugs. While my husband went to clear the bills, the younger boy excreted; the smell was bad and yellowish. I thought it was the injection they gave him. He excreted three times before we left the hospital.”
Oluwaseun added that when she got home and brought out the drugs, she noticed that the nylon which had Ogooluwa’s name had six drugs, while the one with the elder brother’s name had four drugs.
She explained that when she asked her husband if the drugs were for Ogooluwa, he replied that the pharmacist confirmed that they were for him. She noted that after giving the one-year-old the drugs, which consisted of antibiotics, oral suspension, cough syrup, among others, he excreted again.
The mother said when she noticed that the excreta were excessive, she gave him Oral Rehydration Therapy.
“When I noticed that the excreta did not stop, I decided to take him back to the private hospital. When I wanted to carry him, I noticed that he was not looking fine; I shouted for help. People assisted me to take him to a nearby hospital. On getting there, the person that attended to us asked what happened to the child and who gave him antibiotics.
He said he was reacting to the drugs and that was why he had become pale. He said we should take him away. When I returned home to get clothes for Ogooluwa in order to take him back to Oak Hospital, I met his brother vomiting again. I begged people to take him to a nearby hospital, while I take Ogooluwa to Oak.
When we got to Oak, the doctor that attended to us said there was no blood again in his body and that he had passed on and there was nothing they could do. When I tried to create a scene, my husband held me that what we needed to do was to save the life of the elder brother in the other hospital. The younger brother was buried that night.”
Oluwaseun, who insisted that the hospital was at fault, said she wanted justice. She said she wanted the hospital to admit that someone failed to perform his or her job diligently and the culprit should be punished.
When contacted, the owner of Oak Hospital, Dr Ayodele Kalejaiye, said the death of the child was not caused by the hospital, adding that the deceased was later diagnosed of food poisoning.
He said,
“When someone dies, the family will always want to blame it on one thing or the other. When the woman met me, I had to come out of my leave to meet her personally. When I checked her records, she came in with food poisoning herself and her two children came in with cough; they were managed for cough and discharged.
It was after they were discharged that they came back with food poisoning. I called the medical director to investigate and in her presence, he told her that it was a case of food poisoning. So, before one of them could come in, it was already bad.
It is not the hospital’s fault; antibiotics were prescribed to the child because of cough and antibiotics cannot dry up blood. I checked their files; the antibiotics were prescribed in the right dosage.”
Oluwaseun, however, refuted the claims of the hospital, saying they were cover-ups.
Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has offered over 200,000 candidates admission into tertiary institutions, for the 2018/2019 academic session.
Admitted candidates are urged to ACCEPT or REJECT the offer on or before October 16 as that is when all offers of admissions of first choice will close.
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has announced that 200,000 candidates have gained admission for the 2018/2019 academic session.
The Head, Media and Information of the JAMB, Fabian Benjamin said this on Sunday, October 7, 2018, Lagos while speaking reporters from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to him, the exercise is done through the Central Admission Process (CAP), an automated process to eliminate all human interference.
“We have so far offered no fewer than 200,000 first choice admissions to candidates.
” To this effect therefore, we are urging candidates to go to our site and check their admission status and those who have been offered such admission should quickly indicate by accepting and printing such offer, as failure to do so will automatically mean the candidate is no longer interested.
“And therefore, the board may see all such offers as rejected and would have no option than to mop them up and give it to other interested candidates.
“Candidates are to accept or reject all offers not later than Oct.16 as that is when all offers of admissions of first choice will close.
“After that, we will commence admission exercise for the second choice of candidates,” Benjamin said.
The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, has said that if proactive steps are not taken, Nigeria may still remain the poverty capital of the world for many years to come.
The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said this after his induction as an honorary member of the Sigma Club of the University of Ibadan (UI) at the weekend. He said that unless the country’s leaders get their priorities right and address critical issues that affect human development, many countries of the world would leave Nigeria behind.
He said:
If every country continues its present trajectory, by 2050, 80 per cent of all the poor people in the world will live on the African continent. But, that is not the frightening thing. One half of this 80 per cent will be in Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Two countries will account for 40 per cent of all the poor people in the world and Nigeria will therefore remain the poverty capital of the world.
This is a country that has produced many great people. This is a country that has boasted of best professors, greatest intellectuals, and the most educated people.
In 1960, the per capital income in Nigeria was higher than what it was in South Korea, and China. My father was the first ambassador of Nigeria to China in 1972. In 1972, he had to go to Hong Kong every two weeks to buy essential commodities because they were not available in Beijing. He could not find milk, sugar and cornflakes in Beijing; he had to go to Hong Kong in 1972, not 100 years ago.
In 1974, when Deng Xiaoping started opening up in China, there were 700 million Chinese living in extreme poverty. Today, that number is down to only 30 million people in one generation. In 1974, China had only 8million university graduates. Today, China has more than 300 million university graduates, more than the entire population of the United States of America. Yet, China did not have direct foreign investments; in fact China stopped it.
We talk about miracles, ancient miracles. I don’t like the word miracles because miracles are associated with angels with wings that you do not see, coming from the sky. The Chinese are human beings like us and they did it.
When we say miracle, it sounds like something supernatural that has some certain powers to it. Every time you think about it, the only deficit we have is a policy deficit.
We have elections in 2019, I read the papers, I look at the television, and listen to the discussions, who is talking about education? Who is talking about nutrition? Who is talking about basic health? As a country, what are our priorities? We don’t have enough money for education. We don’t have enough money for health. We don’t have enough money for nutrition. But we have N1trillion or N2trillion to spend on petroleum subsidies. Where is our sense of what is important, and where is our investment in the future?
So, for all Nigerians, who care about this country, the real task before us is to know that we have 30 years on the outside in which we need to make sure that we do not become the poverty capital of the world, and slum of the world.
The earlier we realise that countries like Taiwan, Hong Kong in China, Singapore and Israel have become what they have become, not because they have found oil or diamond or gold, but because they have realised the values of human beings. The earlier we begin to take the path that will change this very sad trajectory, the better for us.
We should keep those numbers at the back of our minds because that is the future of our children and the future of our grandchildren. And this generation can take decisions that are necessary to make sure that crisis in the future is averted. I am sure everyone here is committed to this. I certainly will remain committed to it.
I hope we can all work together and build this country, and make it a country that we all know it can be. We know that Nigeria can be great. We all know it.
All those seeking political office, we hope will begin to join us, and we will continue to urge those outside politics to exert the right pressure on those in government to give us these policies, these thinking because that is the future of this country.
If you take Kano alone, today 58 per cent of all children under the age of five in Kano State suffer from chronic malnutrition. Out of that, 17 per cent has acute malnutrition. Globally, nine per cent is a crisis, but we have 17 per cent. Forty eight per cent of the children of all women of reproductive age suffer from anaemia, iron deficiency. We have almost four million children out of school. We have one of the highest infant mortality and maternal mortality rate in the country.
These are the kinds of things that are not even featuring in political discourse. These are issues that confront us and these are the issues we must address to avert that future that has been so very tragically by Bill Gate and other economists.
Within Africa, we are having countries that are becoming excellent examples of what we can do with just a little bit of good thinking, combined with the right values. Our people have the ability, they are resilient, had working and intelligence to do it.
Just months after Daughter of Late Dora Akinyuli, Chidiogo Akunyili, and her Canadian husband Andrew Parr had their Nigerian wedding, the couple were seen again holding a destination wedding.
The couple who had their traditional wedding and white wedding in Agulu, Anambra, Nigeria, in June, had another wedding at the scenic Bark Lake Leadership Centre in Canada.
The ceremony was an intimate affair organised outdoors in a setting that looked like an ancient Igbo village square meeting. There was a fire in the middle while wedding guests sat around it. The bride and groom walked into a melodious Igbo love song reminiscent of the types sung in Nollywood movies.
The couple went around to greet their guests and the high point was watching the bride’s father hug her, wipe her face with a handkerchief then hug her again.
The minister also joked about the fact that the couple have had a couple of other weddings.
He said to the amusement of wedding guests:
There’s just no stopping these two from getting hitched, hitched, and hitched

Kylian Mbappe further cemented his status as the best young player in the world after making history by scoring four times as Paris Saint-Germain annihilated their ligue 1 counterparts, Lyon.
Mbappe scooped the best young player award as France won the World Cup in the summer and is expected to become the first individual to retain the Golden Boy prize.
The former Monaco forward had enjoyed an impressive start to the 2018-19 campaign, scoring four times in as many Ligue 1 games but was forced to miss three matches after being sent off against Nimes Olympique in September.
Lyon’s trip to the Parc des Princes was Mbappe’s first home league appearance since his return from suspension – and he produced a performance which will live long in the memory.
Neymar gave PSG a half-time lead from the penalty spot, but red cards for Presnel Kimpembe and Lucas Tousart had given proceedings an ill-disciplined tinge.
But after the hour mark, the stage belonged to Mbappe who scored four times in the space of 13 second half minutes as PSG ran riot to further cement their leadership of Ligue 1.
Following Neymar’s mazy run, Mbappe smashed the ball in off the post after 61 minutes. He doubled his tally when Marquinhos crossed, tapping into a virtually empty net.
Neymar then turned provider for a second time as he put the 19-year-old clean through, with goalkeeper Anthony Lopes beaten by an arrowing shot from 18 yards.
The remarkable display was complete when Mbappe reacted first after Neymar’s shot was cleared off the line and slammed into the net.
“I missed some opportunities yes, and I should have scored more goals, but that’s normal,” said the teenager.
“It’s part of the steps that I have to go through, to really get to the top. But I will work.
“My teammates have supported me a lot. I never doubt tonight. Because for a striker, as long as opportunities are created for me, everything is fine.
“I knew that if I made the right gesture it would come back and my teammates gave me lots of good balls. That’s why I could score so many tonight.”
Mbappe’s haul saw him become the youngster player in 45 seasons to score four goals in one French top flight match in a victory which all-but secures a second straight title for PSG.
Victory saw Thomas Tuchel’s side became the first to win their first nine games of any Ligue 1 season as they went eight points clear at the top.

According to reports, the beauty queen divorced her hubby because he was cheating on her with numerous women and was technically married to one of them.
Here is what she has to say about handling a cheating spouse;
‘Being cheated on is an awful feeling, but how you handle it can have a big part in your recovery process. Whether you try to rebuild the relationship or you decide to end things.
Here are some ways you can deal with the SITUATION;
1 Decide if you want to re-establish trust.
You may also need to ask yourself these questions • Is your partner truly sorry? • Has this sort of behavior happened before, or has he or she promised to not do it, and it has continued or gotten worse? • Is your partner willing to take steps to mend the relationship such as counseling. • Do you truly feel you want to trust this person again? There is no right or wrong answer for this. This is entirely up to the person who has been cheated on.
It’s also important to Understand the nature of your partner’s cheating. People cheat for many different reasons and it is not always about sex. Sometimes people cheat because they are seeking an emotional connection
Request that your partner cut off all communication with the third party.
If your partner is unwilling to cut off contact with the third party, it may be a sign that they are unwilling to stop cheating. In this case, you may not be able to repair the relationship.
Forgive on your own terms. Your partner may be extremely apologetic and desperate for you to say that you forgive them, right then and there. But true forgiveness and healing will likely take time.
Lastly , It is OK to not forgive. Cheating is a deep wound, and sometimes is fatal to a relationship. How did you deal with a cheating partner ?
Controversial radio presenter, Daddy Freeze is in the news again and this time he is attacking top gospel artiste Nathaniel Bassey for replying a fan who reacted to the absence of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s wife, Anita at their daughter’s wedding, which took place on Saturday the 6th of October 2018.
Nathaniel Bassey in replying the fan, advised the fan to focus more on praying for the restoration of Pastor Chris and his wife’s broken marriage.
This infuriated Daddy Freeze who took to Instagram to write a letter to Nathaniel Bassey.
In the letter, Daddy Freeze, threw shades at the singer and further did a critical analysis of the embattled marriage of Pastor Chris.
Read Below:
Dear Nathaniel Bassey,
Please do not take my words as insults, that’s not my intention.
But it seems you don’t understand what Christianity means. It’s not your fault though, when perhaps all your life you listened to pulpit lies from deluded people who renamed their village shrines and traditions ‘Christianity’, how will you have proper understanding?
The Jesus that you are praying to, why didn’t he heal the marriage of the Samaritan woman at the well in John chapter 4?
Let’s examine this critically o…. Oyahkhilome’s first marriage failed and you are praying to Jesus, the Samaritan woman was on her sixth man, after FIVE FAILED MARRIAGES and JESUS NEVER TOLD HER TO FIX HER MARRIAGE O!
We all have copies of the Bible, so if you have any contrasting views, kindly show me biblical evidence of where Jesus told her to go fix her marriage or prayed for her dead marriage to work!
Jesus NEVER condemned her or prayed for her to go back to her first marriage, HE OFFERED HER LIVING WATER!
This world will be better off if we stopped all this pretentiousness and started offering people living water like Jesus did, instead of praying for people who are probably better off without each other, to come back together IN SUFFERING again.
Do you know how many people have had their lives destroyed because they were forced to remain in, or return to dead marriages by pastors? Murder, suicide and depression are some of the many consequences.
If Jesus did not pray for a Samaritan woman’s marriage to be healed, despite meeting her in person, one on one, let’s stop dragging him into Nigerian marriage issues and focus on the message of salvation which most of you have almost totally ignored.
Do have yourself a blessed day, once again I meant no harm, it’s just that the Christianity practiced today is more than 99% lies, thus making it impossible for us to revert to the truth and spirit Christ spoke about, unless we are willing to unlearn and relearn, thereby destroying the delusions first! ~FRZ
John Terry has officially retired from professional football at the age of 37 after being linked with a coaching role at Aston Villa.
The former Chelsea and England captain who won five Premier league titles and a Champions League at Stamford Bridge, shared the news on Instagram on Sunday evening.
Terry, who won 78 caps for England, wrote:
“after 23 incredible years as a footballer, I have decided now is the right time to retire from playing. As a 14-year-old, I made my best and biggest decision: to sign for Chelsea Football Club. Words will never be enough to show how much everyone at the club means to me, in particular the fans.”
Nigerian alternative singer, Olawale Ashimi, better known as Brymo performed at an event recently in London rocking nothing but a piece of clothe wrapped around his loins while his butt was left bare for his audience to fix their gazes on.
In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Brymo explained the reason for his choice of clothing saying,
‘that was the way our forefathers used to dress before the arrival of the West. As a matter of fact, some months ago, a picture circulated on the Internet of a wealthy Igbo farmer who dressed that way in 1930. I just wanted to remind people of our past. It surprises me that people are shocked whenever I dress that way. That was the same way I dressed in the video for my song’.
He went on to add that,
“In this part of the world, we are mostly consumers ; not creators. If the advanced world should come here and take all of their technologies, we would be left naked. However, I appreciate the people who follow my music and see it as a form of artistic expression. Those are the people I do this for. For those who don’t like it; sorry, I don’t know what to do about that’.
