The Senior Special adviser to the President on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs Hon. Abike Dabiri Erewa has reiterated that the present administration is committed to improving the nation’s healthcare system through liaising with Nigerian doctors in Diaspora.

She said this at the Nigeria Health Watch annual Future Health Conference themed ‘The Diaspora as Nigerians Brain Gain’ in Abuja.

She noted that Nigerians in Diaspora are very relevant to Nigeria, adding that “they possess immeasurable resources as they present expertise in their related area of profession.”

“They are usually the top performers in their fields in any country, so leaving us for a while has value as they present credible resources and experience that can propel the development of our nation and project the image of the nation in a positive way”

She further called on Nigerian doctors in Diaspora who have gained landmark achievements in other countries to come back and strengthen the Nigeria healthcare system.

“With this structured plan, we do not have to solely rely on our developmental partners to help solve our problems we have the capability to solve these problems ourselves. We are relying on Nigerians healthcare givers that have gained landmark in other countries to come back home and strengthen our healthcare system.” She said.

The Future of Health Conference is a leading platform that sets actionable roadmaps to move the Nigerian health sector forward with this year’s focus on Diaspora leveraging their specialty to building networks that will strengthen the Nigeria health sector.

Speaking at the event, Dr Ifeanyi Nsofor, Director of Policy and Advocacy, Nigeria Health Watch called on Nigerian doctors in Diaspora to see the opportunities in Nigeria’s health ecosystem and seek ways to leverage their expertise in building a good network aimed at strengthening the Nigeria’s health sector.

The Nigeria Medical Association on its part noted that it is in continuous collaboration with Diaspora doctors on Continuous Professional Developmental aimed at synergizing the health sector, Dr Tonnie Okoye, National Strategic Program Manager for the Nigeria Medical Association revealed.

He however lamented the communication gap between doctors based in Nigeria and those abroad while calling on Nigerian doctors based both in Nigeria and abroad to give in their best to improve quality of life in the country.

The mother of whose son, a notorious robber was killed has opened on his criminal lifestyle which reportedly led to his death.

The 21-year-old man identified as Lelethu Manini from Cape Town, South Africa, who robbed people, was killed last Sunday. His family suspects a robbery went wrong or that his friends were involved.

The mother of the deceased, Funeka Manini, who revealed she’s relived following her son’s death, said:

“It is only right to feel bad about what has happened because he was my son. I never wanted him to be a skollie (hoodlum) but I knew something like this would happen some time because of the life he was living.

“He was shot this year but continued to do bad things.”

Funeka was at church when her family came to fetch her. She immediately knew something bad had happened to her son.

“My gut told me my son was dead because the past few days were tough. “We haven’t been able to sleep because of his friends. “I was living in fear because the drugs he was using controlled him so he would sell everything he could find in the house.”

Anathi Nkampule (46) said residents are happy.

“Some would say we don’t have hearts but these kids are terrorising us and taking what we have worked hard for, just for drugs.”

He said they feel for Funeka because she never sent her son to steal from people.

“We know he sold her belongings when he wanted tik. God took him, which is good for all of us. May he rest in peace since we are also going to have peace now.”

A wife has cried out after her husband annulled their wedding without her knowledge then got married to another woman.

Mrs Bibiana Linus Onyeulo said her husband, Mr Linus Uzodinma Chibuzo Onyeulo, who married her in the Catholic Church, annulled their wedding without her consent then began planning a wedding with another woman.

When Mrs Onyeulo found out, she complained to the parish priest of All Saints Catholic Church, Avutu Obowu in Imo state. She also reported to the Catholic Bishop of Okigwe diocese, Most Rev. Dr Solomon A Amatu. Rev. Amatu asked her to get a copy of the annulment letter her husband obtained from the Vicar of Okigwe diocese, Rev. Fr. Michael Agbayi.

She was still in the process of trying to get the letter when she got information that her husband, who fixed his wedding to hold in Lagos on October 20, 2018, had already married the woman at their home town on Sunday, October 14, in the Catholic Church. The couple was joined by the parish priest of All Saint’s Catholic Church, Avutu Obowu, Imo state.

Mrs Onyeulo said:

It was quite surprising that the parish priest of All saints catholic church, avutu Obowu imo state, was same person whom i made complains to about all that was going on and my intention to call off my husband’s wedding in Lagos and on how he has conspired and annulled our wedding without my consent was the same Priest who united my husband’s wedding in my home town without my knowledge and even before the wedding date fixed in Lagos on the 20th Oct 2018.

I am also well informed that, Catholics don’t unite wedding on Sundays, but same All saints catholic church, avutu Obowu imo state, parish priest did. So how could this happen? How could this priest do such?

She said she returned to the Bishop of Okigwe diocese to report the new development to him, that her husband had married someone else before the conclusion of their case.

The Bishop still asked her to go and get the annulment letter from the Vicar of Okigwe diocese, a letter the Vicar refused to give her until he gets a confirmation from the Bishop of Okigwe.

The Vicar eventually agreed to forward the letter to the Bishop and asked the aggrieved wife to return October 23, 2018.

To stop the wedding of her husband from holding in Lagos today, Mrs Onyeulo wrote a letter to the parish priest of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church Ladipo, Oshodi, Lagos State, asking that her husband should not be joined in holy matrimony with another woman since they had not properly ended their marriage, at least not with her knowledge or consent.

Her letter read in part:

I simply request that my husband’s wedding should be stopped until I get to the root of his conspiracy and also get an appeal, along with a fair hearing from the bishop and judicial Vicar of Okigwe diocese because if this wedding continues, it means this would be his third wedding in catholic church (One to me the genuine wife and twice the second wife).

In spite of her letter, her husband was joined again in holy matrimony to the other woman today, Saturday, October 20, 2018.

Reacting to the second wedding which held in Lagos in spite of her complaint, Mrs Onyeulo said:

Even after all my efforts, the church still sent went ahead to celebrate this wedding in Lagos even after being informed of the conspiracy and wedding to same woman already done in the east being 14th of this month and also today 20th of this month in Catholic church.

The worst is that st John parish church priest named Fr Patrick Obayomi who verbally confirmed to us that the wedding will not hold at his parish here in Lagos because I raised issue on the bans of marriage, that all files was transferred to the east where my husband’s first wedding was held to the 2nd wife.

Why did this wedding still hold, does it mean that the church representatives are no longer honest?

According to him, he won’t marry a lady who would not live with his mother in the same house cause to him, his mother comes first.

Now it’s not clear if he means to say, he’ll be living with his mother (or vice versa) in the same house when he gets married, but he sure made it clear that his relationship with any lady in that calibre would end.

In a post shared on her IG page, Tatiana Dikeh, the sister of Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, revealed she has been dealing with clinical depression and almost committed suicide about three weeks ago.

In her post, Tatiana, who has a daughter, said she drank hypo with the aim of killing herself. Luckily, she did not die.

She wrote,

So, I’ve bin wanting to do this but I was worried about what d world wld say about me… It’s my own testimony!!! 3weeks ago, I thought of my life and den devil spoke to my spirit and said, “Tatiana, u r a failed parent….Ur daughter is ashamed of u and ur efforts r all wrong and boom, I gave in…. That night, I realized God had a purpose for my life because I drank hypo and to me, I said to myself I was gonna die and have peace…. The next day, I woke up to f sound of my alarm and I pinched myself and realized I didnt die as expected, no tummy aches, nothing and dat morning, I sought to find help???I talked to my angel in human form @gorsky2211 and he said, I needed to seek help and my journey for help began… I put up a post on @womeninportharcourtpage and then, another angel asked I sent her a DM @noise1405 which I did and she made sure I started going to a rehab…. Yomi, a Nigerian who became the first black student Union president of Bournemouth University, UK, came out on Instagram and received massive support.

However, his parents, who are staunch Apostolic Faith members, are finding it hard to accept.

Yomi was also a fellowship president when he was schooling at Crawford University and some of his fellowship members are still in shock, while some have shown support for him.

Mohammed Dewji, the 43-year-old CEO of the METL Group family conglomerate, was seized as he arrived for a morning workout in Tanzania’s commercial capital Dar es Salaam last week. ICYMI

A serving corps member was allegedly flogged by one Deacon Friday Udoka, the principal of her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), the Government Technical College in Abak, Akwa Ibom State.

Reports have it that the assault was as a result of the lady, Kolawole Olaitan Adeola, helping her friend write her name in the attendance register of the college, on Friday, October 19, 2018.

The principal is said to have flogged her in his office before dragging her outside to continue the flogging in the presence of students.

Udoka then proceeded to notify the NYSC Local Government Inspector that he no longer needs her in the school.

Nigerian lady dies during childbirth six months after her wedding

A Nigerian lady identified as Ifot Lovemary, has reportedly lost her life during childbirth yesterday, October 19th, just six months after her wedding ceremony.

Her sister, Favour Ifot, who shared the quite tragic story on Facebook, disclosed that Lovemary had her wedding in April this year and died six months after.

Nollywood actress, Ini Edo, has expressed concerns over the rate at which men of nowadays jump from one relationship to another for financial gains.

According to the Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Culture and Tourism, while young girls engage in one trade or the other for survival, some men move from one woman to the other for money. Hear her: “Men of these days are not what they used to be. But the issues are not addressed. Nobody is talking about it. That’s why Uche Jombo and I took that up and made it the theme of our new movie.

“Ironically, prostitution has reduced drastically. Young girls now go into different kinds of small-scale businesses like makeup, hair dressing and creams making. If you can remember ‘I’ll Take My Chances’, I did it with Emem Isong. The movie gave birth to a new actor, Bryan Okwara. It’s my way of giving back to the industry. I had to tilt towards production of movies to effect the changes I had always wanted to see in the industry. I’m glad I was part of the huge changes we are experiencing now. Another film, ‘Knocking On Heavens Door’, I made sure we used new faces in it. That was how Adesua Etomi and Blossom Chukwujekwu came into acting.

“Aside that, If I am passionate about a story, I don’t mind the money being paid, I’ll go for the job. I’m not particular about money but the story or lessons behind the film.”

Meanwhile, the collaborative effort of Ini Edo and Uche Jombo, ‘Heaven On My Mind’ will hit cinemas across the nation on December 7, 2018. The highly anticipated movie, which began pre-production in late 2017 and finished filming in March 2018, is the first collaboration between the two talented actors as co-producers.

Speaking about the film, which is her directorial debut, Jombo said: “For me, directing this movie is a huge mark in my books and I really appreciate everyone who had faith in me. Heaven On My Mind will make a huge difference.” The movie features talented actors like Mercy Aigbe, Ray Emordi, Andrea Chika Chukwu, Femi Adebayo, Adunni Ade, Eric Ogbonna, Yvonne Nwosu and the co-producers themselves.

There’s a trending video on the internet, showing a white woman crying and begging an unidentified person, after she fell for a fraud orchestrated by an internet fraudster also called, “Yahoo Boy”.

In the video, the white woman was heard saying that she got the fraudster a car, before the sound dropped..

In the video we could hear her say, “I bought you a car this morning, Don’t do this, don’t lie to me.. That’s not fair.. I told the truth”

The new Olori of Ooni of Ife, Naomi is the Founder/President of En-Heralds – an interdenominational ministry based in Akure, Ondo state.

She started public ministry at the age of eighteen and became a full time evangelist in October 2011.

She has six siblings and is also in her 20s.

Meanwhile, the new queen prophetess Shilekunola Moronke Naomi has officially begun her duty as Yeyeluwa of the Source after holding some engagements in the palace – with residents recognizing her new status and paying homage to her in Ile-Ife, Osun state.

The palace of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, in a statement, has revealed why the king opted for Olori Moronke Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi.

The palace said he married the woman because of the spiritual strength she will bring to the kingdom and the fear of God in her.

Ooni’s marriage to his ex-queen, Wuraola (real name Zaynab Otiti Obanor), crashed last year August.

Speaking after the breakup, Wuraola described her relationship with the Ooni as an old chapter, and tagged her new status ”a new chapter” aimed at fighting boldly and fearlessly for the rights of women.

She said: “What I can confirm is that the Ooni and I are no more. I inhale love & exhale gratitude. My journey continues as a Humanitarian aiding women and victims of domestic violence & abuse with the United Nations.

Nollywood actress, Faithia Williams has joined other Nigerian celebrities to recent to the recent wedding of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his new bride, Prophetess Naomi Oluwaseyi.

Faithia Williams shared a tweet which alleged that everyone is cool with Ooni of Ife marrying for the third time, but won’t if it was a woman. The tweet read;

Ooni of Ife marries for the third time and everyone is super cool with it, but imagine an average woman getting married to her third husband. Double Standards?

Reacting to the tweet, Faithia Williams wrote;

I have absolute respect for our Ooni…this poat is necessarily not about him. It is about how we see and talk about women. Why do we ‘hit’ women too much in our society…we need to stop demonizing women while we make excuse for men. Selah!
