Tiwa Savage finally opens up on her relationship with Wizkid

Over the past few weeks, Nigerian music stars, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage have been rumored to be in a romantic relationship duo – this speculation sprung up due to the many intimate performance photos of both of them together alongside social media interactions.

Finally the songstress has attempted to put the rumours to rest as she graced an interview recently with Soundcity Radio 98.5.

Though she didn’t specifically state that she isn’t dating Starboy, all she said that was ‘key’ was that the speculations were just rumours and she chose to ignore them.

Tiwa Savage finally

She said,

“I heard all sorts of stories about Wizkid and I, but I chose to ignore them.

“At a point, people said I was dating Humblesmith; later they mentioned another (artiste?). How long will I continue to debunk these rumours. I have been in the music industry for quite a while and I have grown a thick skin, so certain rumours or insinuations don’t get to me again.”

On her marrige to ex TeeBillz, Tiwa said;

“Marriage is a very sensitive matter that I would not want to delve into at this time. Whatever I say now might be taken by the other party in another way.

More so, I respect TeeBlliz and our son. I don’t think it is proper to be discussing this matter on air,”

Nigerian Bloggers and Rhetorics: Which way forward? – Ade Oni

Going through the numerous outputs of some bloggers in this part of the world these days could be as discouraging as they come as some of them appear to have lost focus.

The challenge they pose is a tragedy of our time, when we thought we should be having the best of time with information dissemination.

Indeed, one could conclude that this era of social media a la blogging and all kinds of news sites comes with its disadvantages and painful consequences.

While it is apt to agree that news is broken immediately it happen through the help of some of these next door social media; but how do you explain the use of obvious exaggeration and rhetorics in some of the outputs of bloggers and their media?

In a bid to grandstand and be commended for coming up with newsworthy materials, it is not uncommon to see these sites resorting to cheap blackmail and repackaging old reports to embarrass the organisation or person concerned.

If what we read in some of these reports should be taken retrospectively, then there is a need to apply decorum, at least for the sake of the reading public and of course the concerned organization (s).

Many readers are worried with the way few of these bloggers dwell on the past and insult the sensibility of the readers in their reports.

One of such reports that threw discerning minds off balance was a story relating to a popular bank, which was repackaged by an online medium as if the incident just happened.

It was reported by the online publication that nine staff of the new generation bank conspired to steal customers’ money running into N600 Million.

The story was not only repackaged, if the figures given in the breakdown are added they are not up to the N600 Million said to have been stolen by the staff of the bank.

This only confirms that some online media are just passionate about creating tension where there is none and misleading members of the public all in a bid to be relevant.

If we are going to get there as a nation, we have to get things right and do things the way they should be done.

Let the bloggers know that to build takes years, but a big edifice can be brought down in a day and when that is done it will take years to build again.

So, why destroying in the first instance, we should be building edifices and institutions.

It is certain that the bank must have handled the matter, when it occurred and do all within its powers to prevent a re-occurence.

Journalism is about timeliness and not writing for the sake of writing. Why repackaging an event that happened long ago, and presenting such as if it just happened?

Imagine a scenario, where it is being reported that the first Nigerian civil war is ongoing, this was an incident that happened about 50 years ago. This could mislead members of the public and cause more damage than good.

Blogging has been taken to a new dimension with what is being reported by some, may be, misinformed or unfocused bloggers, whose pastime is bringing up stale news and making it appear as if it is just breaking.

When issues like these are repeated without caution, then the essence of online media is eroded and slaughtered on the altar of charlatans and uncoordinated writers.

We must do all within our means to avoid publishing reports that have been stale as if they just happened.

Such reports belong to the past and they must be allowed to go into the dustbin of history.

There are so many things to write about today. There are issues that could engage the minds of the readers other than matters that belong to the past.

What comes to mind, when a story is read, especially in an online medium is, “oh it has just happened, ha, there they go again, let us see how it ends.’ But alas it has ended, someone is just trying to be mischievous and score a cheap goal like Argentina’s Diego Maradona in that famed World Cup finals of several years ago.

Social media and blogging sites dwell on immediate occurrences, presenting lucid accounts of fresh happenings and events, rather than bothering the readers with what belongs to the past.

People want to know what is happening now and not then. They want to know if President Muhammadu Buhari has returned from his trip abroad, or if the National Assembly is sitting on Monday to consider the virement proposal of the president, or if anybody has defected from any of the leading political parties in Nigeria and what is the latest about the detained boss of the Department of Stated Security Service (DSS), Lawal Daura and the likes.

We may have started from somewhere, but we can do better than what is being done presently.

When the chips are down only the deep can call to the deep and the future belongs to those, who can do it better and give the people what they need now rather than insulting their sensbilities with old stories that belong to the past.

When things are done ríght, then we will get it right and avoid being left behind by the countries that started with Nigeria and have gone past us in all ramifications.

*Ade Oni, a social media commentator writes from Lagos, Nigeria.

I have slapped my dad before — Actor Femi Adebayo

Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo, has opend up on the craziest act he has carried out in his profession and that was slapping his dad, Adebayo Salami, while on the set of a movie production.

While speaking with Sunday Scoop, he said as an actor, one must be ready to do anything to play unbelievable roles.

He stated,

“I have been presented with scripts where I had to slap my father on set and I must do it as an actor.

He has slapped me on set too countless times. The moment we are acting, I don’t see him as my father anymore; I see him as a colleague and we need to interpret our roles very well. He trained me and he is my boss in the industry.

He has taught me not to fear whenever I come across a bigger actor or someone like him on set. But the moment the director says stop, I prostrate to him and apologise.”

Similarly, Femi Adebayo said he and his father decided to support Jigan with their viral ‘Sho Mo Age Mi Ni’ skit on Instagram.

He said,

“Jigan is more like a boy to us. When he came out with the trend, we felt we could do a skit to endorse it. The irony was in asking my biological father if he knew my age.”

Adebayo, who recently featured in an English movie, The Island, insisted that he had no regrets being a Yoruba actor.

He said:

“The only difference between an English and Yoruba movie is the language but the reaction as well as interpretation, most times, are the same. Given another chance, I would still prefer to come into the industry as a Yoruba actor because it has made me know my culture. All my days in school, I was taught a foreign culture and language.

Later, I had the opportunity of learning about my culture, which I would not have learnt if I had started as an English actor. Majority of the people who started with English movies don’t have the opportunity I have had.”

He, however, admitted that there was no way Yoruba actors would earn more than English actors. Femi Adebayo said:

“English is a general language and it is universally accepted, unlike the Yoruba language. We cannot expect a Yoruba movie to have the same audience as an English movie. The majority of Yoruba movies’ fans are Yoruba people.

Based on this, English movies make more money because it has a wider market. But I don’t regret being a Yoruba actor. We have many Yoruba actors who are very comfortable and Yoruba actors are better appreciated outside their environment than English actors. We get more accolades from our fans.”

“Why female celebrities find it hard to stay married” – Anita Joseph reveals

Nollywood actress, Anita Joseph has given her thoughts on female celebrities and their inability to stay married as long as marriage should go.

She had an interview recently with Sunnewsonline and when she was asked the question pertaining to the above mentioned, she had this to say,

Civilisation has its disadvantages and this is one of them. As women work, they have become independent and will not take any form of abuse from a man. It used to be that every mum had a business or was just a stay-at-home mum taking care of the kids; but now the status quo has changed. Women now work and can make the decision to leave if they are not being treated right, not minding where the upkeep is coming from, as they can provide for themselves and their children.

Anita Joseph reveals

Read excerpts from her interview below,

Would you then say it is the fear of becoming old maids, without a man to call their own that compelled some actresses to opt for single motherhood?

I won’t really be able to assume and generalise on this one, but I know it is a matter of choice. In all we do, we should choose the right thing and be happy. If having a baby makes them happy, that’s all good. Our career is hectic and busy, so sometimes one forgets the priorities. It is always good to remember that and create a balance.

Or is it that actresses don’t get it right when it comes to marriage?

No, it is not that actresses don’t get it right in marriage. Marriage is between two people, and if it breaks up, it is not the fault of the woman alone. It takes two to tango.

What are your no-go areas when it comes to relationships; can you forgive a cheating husband?

To me, a man that cheats is saying, ‘I prefer someone else’ so what is the point? I will forgive but forgiveness is not reconciliation. If he is not satisfied with me, Anita, then he belongs to someone else.

Is it an option to leave a marriage that is not working?

It is not a spur of the moment thing. It happens like that because of our job. Being busy while in a relationship, you think you know the person, but he turns out to be someone who you don’t recognise, and you run for cover. It is a natural phenomenon. But I would advise couples to look before leaping.

Kanye West and his wife Kim graced 2 Chainz’s extravagant wedding to his long-term girlfriend Kesha Ward on Saturday, which saw the pair tie the knot at the Gianni Versace Mansion in Miami.

But in true Kanye West fashion, the Yikes hitmaker, 41, couldn’t help but draw in attention from his fans as he sported Yeezy slides with his mint suit to the star-studded nuptials on Saturday.

As expected, Kanye’s choice of footwear courted controversy and while somefans took to twitter to criticize him, others applauded him for just being Kanye’.

Why Duncan Mighty Bowed To Davido

Music lovers went agog over last week as they tried to understand why 34-year-old Duncan Mighty attempted a stoop down for 25-year-old Davido, who was on a recent visit to Port Harcourt.

After Duncan Mighty shared the video of him bowing to Davido on his Instagram page, the decorated ‘port harcourt’s first son’ was criticised for belittling himself before the ‘nwababy’ singer, who met him in the music business

However, Duncan Mighty’s manager, Michael Gabriel, has come out to explain why that gesture was done, attributing it to ;sheer happiness’.

He said ;

“Duncan was just happy to have Davido in the Niger Delta; it was the first time he would visit for a video shoot. How many top artistes come to Port Harcourt? Everyone goes to Dubai, South Africa and other places to shoot videos. It is a big deal for someone like Davido to come to Port Harcourt and for Duncan Mighty to collaborate with him as well. He didn’t plan to bow to anyone; he was just excited. But people misinterpreted his gesture. Sometimes, there is no need to react to things like this because you will only give people more reasons to talk. When I mentioned it to him, he just focused on other things and wanted to know the next thing on the agenda.”

IK Osakioduwa reveals how his wardrobe malfunctions exposed parts that should’ve been covered

IK Osakioduwa reveals

Nigerian radio and television on-air personality, Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa has gradually become a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the entertainment sector.

However, IK as he is fondly called now, is only human and he’s bound to make mistakes at one point in life, and in this excerpt from an interview he had with Punch’s Kore Ogidan, he opened up on his most embarrassing moment as a live television host

As a live TV host, what’s been your most embarrassing moment?

He said ;

I’ve made so many mistakes that I don’t know for sure which the most embarrassing one was. I have had wardrobe malfunction that exposed parts that should have been covered, fallen off a stage before. I have made ridiculous mistakes with scripts and even stumbled over saying my own name. Whatever the blunder, coming back from it is always the same road. Acknowledge the mistake (sometimes even to the audience); dust it off; then give it all you’ve got after that. You will find your feet. You are only human. Mistakes will happen.

Nina speaks on buying her certificate from IMSU

Former Big Brother Naija Housemate, Nina spoke to PUNCH about her life before the reality TV show, life after the show, and of course the controversy surrounding her recent graduation from school.

According to her, she didn’t buy her university certificate, refuting the rumour being spread in some quarters.

She also spoke about her career, life aspirations and other ex-housemates on the show.

Read below:

Background

My upbringing was exciting and I didn’t lack anything. Though I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, my parents did all they could do to give my siblings and I the best. We are five children; I am the fourth child but the last girl. I have two sisters and two brothers. My mother is a businesswoman and a contractor, while my father has stopped working.

He was an engineer prior to retirement. My parents are very strict Christians. My mother, for instance, doesn’t believe in pampering children. All the times I misbehaved, she didn’t hesitate to use the cane or slap me. Till today, she doesn’t tolerate any form of indiscipline from her children.

I have always wanted to be a celebrity and a wealthy woman. I guess my dream is coming to reality.

Education

For my elementary education, I attended Wesley International Nursery and Primary School, Owerri, Imo State. I later proceeded to the Federal Government Girls College, Umuahia, Abia State. I recently finished my university education at the Imo State University, Owerri, where I studied English Language and Literary Studies.

Parental support

Inasmuch as I was brought up in a strict way, my parents have always seen me as a go-getter and they are usually surprised by the things I do despite my young age. They have always given me the freedom to do the things that I like to do.

Even though I didn’t inform them that I wanted to go for the Big Brother Naija audition, they didn’t try to stop me when I told them about it. My mother was only worried that it could affect my studies, but I assured her I would catch up once I was done with the reality show. My parents have always supported my dreams.

BBNaija

When I was selected for BBNaija 2018, I didn’t go into the house with the intention of winning; I just wanted to be among the top five. But at some point, I didn’t think I would last long in the house as I became scared and overshadowed by other housemates. Being among the last five was a big surprise to me; I think God has a hand in my feat.

Changes

A lot of things have changed about me. I have a business of my own and I am open to a lot of opportunities right now. I am known by many now and also a graduate.

Graduation

I am happy I was able to graduate with my peers despite the time I spent at BBNaija. I am aware that a lot of people think I bought my certificate, but I really worked hard when I returned to school. I spoke with my lecturers on the way forward and I was asked to retake the examinations I missed.

I had to sit for two examinations within a short period. I didn’t miss assignments and tests; I submitted all my assignments before I went for Big Brother.

Pressure

It has not been easy coping with the expectations and challenges that come with fame. Sometimes, I wish I could go back to my life before BBNaija but it is not possible. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Yes, truly I wish I could still go back to the former Nina because I don’t have my privacy any longer. I cannot even live the way I want, as people are watching me closely.

Picture theft

According to my business page handler, she collected a photo from someone and used it on my page because we had the hair. The next thing I saw was a lady accusing me of using her hair to promote my business.

I try to ignore many things and replying her was unnecessary. I only used her picture; I didn’t take her hair. I don’t need negative things in my life, which explains why I didn’t take it seriously. I have developed a thick skin to negative comments and criticisms. I am getting used to social media and its drama, though I try as much as possible to stay away from it.

Men

To be honest with you, I meet admirers every day but I don’t take them seriously. I feel they are all interested in my fame. I am just friends with people who knew me before I became famous.

Miracle

Based on past experience, I try to keep my relationship private. My relationship with Miracle is personal. I regard myself as a romantic lady;as long as I love the person.

Acid threat on Cee-C

I don’t really want to talk about their issues (Cee-C, Tobi and Alex), but I don’t have anything against any former housemate. The fact that I have decided not to say a word on their feud doesn’t mean I didn’t see it.

Current projects

We are working on our new body products; soaps, creams and others. I am currently collaborating with Tiannah’s Empire and we will announce it soon. People can call me whatever they like but I call myself a businesswoman.

Fashion

I have always loved fashion since my childhood. The way I dress depends on my mood and where I’m heading to. However, I like pink and black colours.

Relaxation

I like to swim and stay indoors with my loved ones. Whenever I am home, I like to watch movies or read books on romance and business.
