Nigerian business magnate and Politician, Benedict Murray-Bruce has lambasted the people, President Muhammadu Buhari associates himself with.
The Bayelsa East Senator accused the President of being surrounded by people who cannot find an ultimate solution to the end of killings in Nigeria
He tweeted ;
The people you surround yourself with reflect who you are and when I look at the people that President Buhari surrounds himself with, I see a reflection of failure! How can you be surrounded by people who are still ‘cracking their heads’ after three years of killings in Nigeria!
Meanwhile the Senator is also advocating that Nigerians be allowed to vote by SMS in future elections.
The Bayelsa State Lawmaker is advocating this method as a means to help check electoral malpractice following the fallout from Saturday’s election in Ekiti State. (Read more here)
A woman from Tennessee has been accused of setting fire to a home because she wasn’t invited to a party.
The lady identified as Shameka Howse was arrested on Wednesday and charged with vandalism, aggravated arson and reckless endangerment/assault with a deadly weapon for the incident.
According to an affidavit from the Metro Nashville Police Department, Howse and an unidentified man pulled up at a house on North 29th Avenue in Nashville on June 28 and when she began screaming about not being invited to a party at the house.
When those inside the home would not let her in, she allegedly said she was going to set fire to the house, WTVF reported.
From there, police said she walked back to the truck, pulled out a jug of lighter fluid and started pouring it over the front window of the house. Police says she then took a butane lighter and lit a fire.
According to investigators, Howse and the unknown driver fled as three people inside the home tried to put it out. The flames were extinguished before any serious damage was caused, and no one was hurt.
It’s become a common phrase on social media – mind your business – and it’s only sad that some people just won’t conform to it.
Yeah well, the interesting thing is this non-business-minders tend to get the savagest of response after they display their folly.
Just like this morally upright brother – who probably shoulda kept his morality to himself, but didn’t – told a lady to cover herself up after she shared a cleavage revealing photo of herself on her page.
@_callmehal took to Twitter to pop eyes with a photo of a dress that’d go to waste and we’re pretty sure nobody could see the dress clearly…
… and then, our morally upright brother, Brother Daurel simply told her to ‘cover her body’ with disappointed emojis.
Unfortunately, since Brother Daurel didn’t mind his business…. he got a quite hilarious reply.
Like yoooooo, look at that head,
I mean, take a closer look!
Brother Daurel, next time, *inserts 2pac Igwe’s vibe here* I think you need to mind your ‘beeneh’, cause if you don’t mind your beeneh, you might lose your ‘adeniny’…
Talented Gospel artiste, Tope Alabi, has said that she is still in pain after some faceless persons used her name to extort money from members of the public by creating a cloned profile on Instagram.
The beloved Yoruba singer, told Saturday Beats that since the embarrassing incident, she had been in total shock.
She said ;
“The pain that these fraudsters have caused me by using my name to extort money from people is too much.
“People have been paying money into an account they provided, thinking that I am the one they are relating with. This is so disheartening because even if I need money, I run to God.
“I am not suspecting anybody at the moment. I got to know about this when people called me to say that they had paid money into a particular account following a request from me.
“Since I discovered this, the person has shut down the account. It is really so painful.”
Nigerian movie producer and actor, Saidi Balogun, has said that pressure to please fans has indeed pushed many celebrities into living fake lives.
According to the experienced thespian, many entertainers, unable to withstand the subtle pressure, involve themselves in all sorts of unacceptable things just to keep up a good appearance.
He pointed out that the only thing those in the movie industry owed fans was to always produce good works that address certain societal issues.
He said ;
“It is always better to be yourself. I am myself, I don’t believe in the saying that you are addressed the way you are dressed. I believe that people should be judged based on their intellectual prowess and not by their appearance. I can ride okada from Lagos to Ibadan. I believe in doing what makes me happy.
“The pressure people put on celebrities can push some of them to get involved in some deals that they are not supposed to do. They force them to live fake lives.”
The police in Lagos state is on the trail of one – Emmanuel Eghaghe, for beating his mother to death because she allegedly refused to give him a sum of N20,000.
According to reports, the 27-year-old Emmanuel had visited his 61-year-old mother, Helen, at her shop on Jinadu Street, Ajangbadi, Lagos State, on July 6, 2018 and asked her to give him pocket money which she refused to.
He got angry and went violent on her. He started to harrass her and whilst he was struggling with her purse, slammed her head on the wall in the shop. She had a deep cut on her head and her mouth was gushing out blood. Seeing how badly injured his mother was, Emmanuel immediately fled the scene.
Narrating how the incident happened, a resident in the area who spoke with Punch, said
“The sister of the suspect has a hotel in the community. He gave their mother a room in the hotel. She also opened a shop for the woman in front of the hotel. On that day, the suspect approached his mother and asked her to give him N20,000 pocket money. The woman said she did not have that kind of money. He pushed her to the wall and broke her head in the process. There were bloodstains everywhere and the woman eventually died in a hospital. He ran away immediately and has yet to be found. His sister was abroad and she was planning to relocate him there. A resident informed the woman’s brother and he travelled to Lagos from Benin. I was surprised why a child would do such a cruel thing to his mother”’.
The Suspect, Emmanuel Eghaghe
Also speaking, the brother of the deceased, Friday, called him to inform him of the gruesome murder
“Around 11 am that day, somebody called me with my mum’s (Helen’s) phone number and said somebody wanted to kill her. When I asked the person what the problem was, she cut the call. I called back, but she did not pick her calls. It was a little girl that was staying with her who later picked the call and told me that my mum had been killed. I left Benin immediately for Lagos. It was the woman who brought me up. Emmanuel was the fifth and the last child of the family. One of them lives in Benin here while others live abroad. I didn’t know why he killed her.”
Confirming the incident, the Lagos state police command’s spokesperson, Chike Oti, said the command is now on the trail of the suspect
“The police got a report that the suspect hit his mother’s head against the wall in an attempt to get money from her forcefully. As a result, she became unconscious and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. She gave up the ghost at the hospital. The suspect is now at large. Detectives visited the scene and deposited the corpse at the Isolo General Hospital mortuary for autopsy. A manhunt for the suspect is being intensified.”
Veteran singer, Salawa Abeni, has revealed that she still gets advances from men despite her turning 57 recently.
Salawa made this known in an interview with Saturday Beats, she however said she has learnt to treat such men with respect while turning them down.
Salawa Abeni said,
“Men still pester me for love but I am always very careful with them even though you cannot know which one is good or bad from mere appearance .
“I mentioned it in one of my songs that if I laugh too much, they will call me a prostitute , if I frown too much, they will say I am proud. But it is good to be very diplomatic with them and not to be rude to them . ”
Decrying the rising spate of broken marriages especially in the entertainment industry, Salawa Abeni said that every man or woman needed a companion; therefore people must make their marriages work.
She said, “The truth is that every adult male or female wants to be in a happy marriage . They should note that two wrongs can never make a right. One has to be cool-headed and patient.
“Those in the entertainment industry need to take things easy. While they make others happy with their talents , they must also make themselves happy by building good homes . ”
A 19-year-old boy, Junior Omo Shaba, has killed his girlfriend and dumped her corpse by a roadside along Siluko road in the outskirts of Benin, Edo State.
The deceased, Matilda Odiri, 18, was said to have been stabbed to death inside the room of her boyfriend at 2, Akugbe Street, Off Sikuko road, Ogida, last Saturday.
She was said to have gone to the boy’s house where she was expected to pass the night. An allegation of infidelity levelled by the suspect against the visitor, was said to have degenerated into a fierce argument.
In a counter-accusation, the girl was said to have also expressed resentment over her boyfriend’s returning home late as he was already seeing another girl. In a fit of anger, he allegedly stabbed her with a knife in her right breast.
Shaba was said to have fled to Aduwawa area of the Edo state, to evade arrest, but his furious father gave him up. He was arrested that same day by policemen.
The Edo State Police spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor said the suspect confessed that he murdered Matilda and dumped her body on the street to cover up the deed.
Nwabuzor noted that the suspect admitted to having killed his girlfriend with a knife which she used to peel some oranges they took that night.
The General overseer and founder of Salvation Ministries Church, Pastor David Ibiyeomie has stated that love without giving is fake.
According to the pastor, the first way to prove that you love someone is by giving – he revealed this 2 weeks ago during his church sermon.
“Any love that does not involve giving is fake. If anybody ever told you ‘I love you’ and cannot give you something, cancel that love, it is not genuine love. The first way to prove love is giving
Using popular Bible verse, John 3:16, as a reference, he said that God so loved the world that he GAVE his only begotten son – with emphasis on the ‘gave’ – so imitating God, one is expected to give if one truly loves.
In another episode of whether Nigerian police unit, SARS should be ended or reformed, the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police, Ibrahim Idris Kpotum has chosen the latter as according to him, the unit are doing a wonderful job.
Contrary to what a handful of SARS operatives victim will say, the IGP has said in a recent interview that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad are doing a wonderful job and is quite shocked why Nigerians would want an end to them.
The IGP was asked recently what plans he has taken to reconstruct the unit as Nigerians are clamouring for its end and in response, he was jaw dropped before he went on to say facilities are being put in place to make sure the operatives work better.
He even tackled netizens as he dubs social media as a tool for those who are criminally minded.
He basically said,
End?!
You see, you have to be careful about this ‘clamouring’…
you know I remember Social media is a technology available to those that are criminally minded and we have to be careful to the way we respond to some of these ‘clamouring’ that you’re saying..
SARS is a unit of the police that I believe is to be sustained but what we’re doing is ensure that they’re properly trained and that is why we’re providing facilities for them to make work easier for them.
And I have to tell you that they’re doing a wonderful job
So on Friday, the video footage of a Ghanaian police officer assaulting a nursing mother in a bank, made the rounds online. (ICYMI)
The Ghanaian police, Fredrick Amanor, was captured in the video wrestling with and ruthlessly assaulting the nursing mother in Midland Savings and Loans bank.
The video of course has stirred up mixed reactions online as people are exasperated over the action of the officer who didn’t even consider the child that was in the arms of its mother.
As people fire at Fredrick, with most of them pushing that he’s brought to justice, Nigerian Assistant commissioner of Police, Yomi Shogunle also reacted to the saga.
In his own belief, the Nigerian police will never do that to its citizens… He wrote in a tweet,
WE (@PoliceNG) WILL NEVER DO THIS IN NIGERIA ??!

On Friday, 20th of July, President Muhammadu Buhari explained that he declared his intention to contest the 2019 Presidential election early in order to douse rising speculations in the country.
He also said the decision was to give the All Progressives Congress (APC) enough time to prepare for the polls.
The president gave this explanation when he received members of the Buhari Support Group Centre (BSGC) at the State House, Abuja.
According to him, speculations are already constituting distraction to governance and stirring unnecessary tension in the country.
“I had to announce before the National Executive Committee of our party about my intention to ask for the party’s nomination for next year’s election so that we can save a lot of time and cool tempers.
A lot of people were trying to make it a habit of being a nuisance to themselves and many Nigerians, so when I came out I said those who are serious let them come out. And I tried to make sure that the party is organised and consolidated so that we start from the bottom to the top, he said.
The president said early declaration guaranteed more participation within the party and further strengthened the bond with supporters and Nigerians.
He noted that God’s divine intervention and the use of technology during the 2015 elections exposed the weakness of previous processes where a privileged few sat and allocated figures to constituencies during elections.
“They just sit and look at a constituency and they award the numbers, then they say anybody who disagrees should go to court; Now for somebody who is looking for the next meal where does he get money to pay Senior Advocates of Nigeria? Thank God for technology, with the PVC you know where you registered and it can be shown whether you voted or not,’’ the president said.
He therefore advised Nigerians to get their voters card for the 2019 elections and ensure that they vote to please their conscience with pride as citizens.

The model who has since deleted her online presence, shared the photo on her social media pages with the caption ‘rest in peace’. She also describes herself online as a singer.
Ljubicic wrote, beneath the picture of her pouting next to her late father,
‘We have fought as much as we can, but it is not our will. We don’t decide how long we will live. ‘He left us in the 67th year of life. Thank you for everything, I am grateful for being your daughter, and having you as my father. ‘Thank you for bringing us to the right path. Rest in peace, you will always stay in our hearts.’
One of the people who commented on the shared photo wrote:
‘This is how much she cares for her father she has the time and strength to take photos.’
Another wrote,
‘Only a sick person can do this.’
And yet, another exasperated one,
‘I can’t believe what am I reading and seeing. No, there is no hope for this world.’

The younger brother to the woman, Kenneth Imagbenikaro, while testifying at the resumed hearing of the trial, said Atewe came to their house with the false intention of marrying his sister.

The Nigerian Federal Fire Service recently shared a tweet about smoke alarms to tell Nigerians how important they are, if working, and they can also save lives.
It reads:
“Smoke alarms save lives, but only if they’re working. Test all smoke alarms at least once a month. Press the test button to be sure the alarm is working”.
The tweet was shared with the photo of a very pretty fire fighter holding the smoke alarm and Nigerians chose to focus on the smoking hot lady and ignore the smoke alarm message.

Veteran Actors, Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva’s daughter-in-law has revealed how much her traditional wedding cost.
According to Blessing who graced the cover of KOKO rides, her wedding cost more than N10million.
Read excerpts from her interview below:
How did you meet Soji and how long have you guys been dating?
I met Soji in Lagos. I have known his mother for like 5 years because I have worked with her in quite a few projects, so based on that relationship.
I got to know the rest of the family members, which includes Soji, his brothers, and his father. We started dating in 2016 when I graduated from the college and went to Lagos for my NYSC.
Why is Soji so special?
He is everything I ever prayed for in a man. He is very calm and very disciplined.
He is religious as well, not in terms of being self-righteous or being a fanatic, but he respects God and upholds the biblical principles and so I was drawn to all those qualities.
Most importantly, he knows how to say “I’m sorry” when he is in the wrong and when he is in the right.
We also have communication about everything, because communication they say, is the most essential in any relationship and so we communicate a lot.
What is the most expensive accessory you will be wearing for your wedding?
This is the most expensive wedding in my tribe and it is called the IYA marriage.
It is the most expensive and the highest in the land because it is the king that gives you out, so everything I am wearing is expensive.
Can you give an estimate of what the wedding cost in terms of preparation?
The preparation cost over 10 million because this house as you can see is still being re-painted.
There was a lot of renovation and everything. You will get to see more in Porthacourt.
I’m sure you are seeing a lot of security presence, making sure everyone is fine. You have also seen the caliber of people coming in.
Who will be designing your dress for the white wedding?
Facebook sex therapist, Angela Nwosu has revealed reasons why she might not want to go to heaven.
According to her, heaven is where she believes Adeboye, Kumuyi and other religious leaders will go and it will be a boring place.
Read her post below:
I don’t want to make heaven!
If heaven is where Pastor Adeboye, Kumuyi, David Oyedepo and all other religious leaders and people will go to after death, then I reject it with every fibre of my being. Heaven will sure be a very boring and unbearable place to be in, full of fake people and extortionists and heartless people. I want to be where Fela is and would be happy to see Davido, Wizkid, Tekno, etc, join me there.
The thing about me is I don’t ever want to be like you. You don’t believe that you can live the way that I do. Seriously, you act like life’s a recital from the bible and once you reach the end you won’t know where the time goes. I’m living through my flows so please enjoy the show. No Jesus above tells me how to live my life, I do this for me, am not ashamed, I do not hide. I already have a God that turns me on with reckless abandon. He’s the God that I see and believe in and his name is Emeka.
So Save your prayers for your mothers, I’m doing fine, the last thing on my mind is the afterlife. The time is now, I live in the moment. I only think with logic, so keep your bleeping preaching, pity and emotions. I can never be broken even if I’m lost in the ocean, I still won’t give a Bleep where I’m supposedly going, ighotago? For real, I don’t want to spend eternity with any of you. Death is the only thing promised to us at birth. Save your ‘may God have mercy on you’ for your sisters that are doing abortions, for your brothers raping kids, for small girls with big God knacking other women’s husbands, for your pastors and your village people
There’s no time to waste once you enter this World, If you ask me, there is no afterlife and when I die, I will be satisfied with who I am and what I leave behind!
A Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven on Friday, celebrated the graduation of one of the boys she rescued in Akwa Ibom five years ago.
According to Ms Loven, Asuquo was brutally attacked with machete after being accused of witchcraft and left for dead.
Against all odds, he survived the barbaric attack, mental, psychological trauma and on Thursday, graduated from high school.
Read below:
Yesterday was a very emotional day. I cried a lot of tears. So did our Director of Child Development, Orok, but it was happy tears.
I never forget that day, almost 5 years ago today. David advised me not to see him but I insisted.
When I saw Asuquo I literally broke down to my knees. There was not a single space on his body that the machetes had not touched. He had even been cut in his head by an axe. For him to survive this barbaric attack was a miracle. The pain he had to endure for a long period was inhuman.
After the attack Asuquo lost his faith in humanity. He was weak and he had no desire to stay alive. Who can blame him. It was a long struggle for him to gain strenght. But he was guided by David and Orok. Loved by all staff and the children. Slowly he started to believe in life again. He started school and he studied very hard to keep up with his fellow students.
I can say without any doubt that I have never met a young man who has read as many books as Asuquo. He loves to read and reading became his way back.
Not long after the attack he become number one in his class and since then he never gave the number one position to anyone. He even become the top student of the entire school.
Two years ago Asuquo started High School and yesterday he graduated . His results was one of the best for students to have in High School !!!!
He got 6 B’s in Math, English, Further Mathematics, Physics, Data Processing and Civic Education in a school very known for it’s excellence and integrity.
Thank you so much to the Holy Family College, Abak for your tutorship. We are very grateful for our great partnership with you.
So here we are, 5 years ago since the attack and Asuquo has graduated from High School being among the best students. I’m so proud I want to just scream out loud !!!
Asuquo is a hero to the children. A rolemodel to all of us. All the children dream to follow his footsteps. He is our pride and next year he will start university
Yesterday Orok brought some of the senior kids to the graduation party at Asuquo’s High School.
Congratulation my son. I’m so proud of you. I cannot wait to celebrate you very soon. I love you forever and always. You make my life beautiful
