Fraudsters posing as kidnappers attempt to swindle parents of missing 4-year-old girl abducted at Christ Embassy in Lagos

Fraudsters posing

Fresh reports have confirmed that some fraudsters are posing as the kidnappers who abducted a missing girl from Christ Embassy Church, just for their financial gains.

The parents of little Elo Ogidi who is said to be four years old have more on their plate upon the announcement tht their daughter is missing.

In a bid to get help from the public, the parents announced that their daughter was kidnapped while they were in church however, several people have called them claiming to be the kidnappers and making demands for the ransom money.

In their words;

“Several people have been calling us, demanding ransom but they are fraudsters that picked our numbers from the flyers around. We believe that these fraudsters are from the same place using different numbers. One of them called and demanded N2.5m, telling me that if I did not provide the money within 24 hours, he would kill my daughter. He later called me back that day demanding N500,000 to feed my baby. When I got home, I didn’t call him back because I know a kidnapper will not ask for feeding upkeep.

He called me the second day and told me that I did not want to comply and I told him I would comply, adding that I would give him more than the amount he asked for if only he could allow me to hear my daughter’s voice.

“But he could not provide my daughter; he was just repeating the same statement of me not complying. With the trauma I was going through, I told him I know his location and I will get him arrested, so he stopped calling”

The Police is still investigating the matter, however, the distraught father noted that while another set of fraudsters called seeking N18million from his sister claiming that heir daughter is with them

He said;

“Another gang called my sister to demand N18m and she told them that she wanted to hear her daughter’s voice, the fraudsters gave the phone to an adult to mimic baby’s voice

23 Nigerian Soldiers missing after Boko Haram ambush

Nigerian Soldiers missing

23 Nigerian soldiers are yet to be accounted for after Boko Haram insurgents ambushed a military convoy at Boboshe village in Bama local government area of Borno.

5 officers, 18 soldiers and 8 trucks were missing after the attack which occurred early on Saturday.

NAN learnt that the military, acting on intelligence, mobilised troops in a convoy of 11 trucks to clear the insurgents from the deserted village.

The attacking insurgents were believed to have been those who escaped the ongoing offensive by the military to flush out the Boko Haram terrorists in the fringes of Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region.

A competent military source, told NAN that the insurgents in their hundreds ambushed the troops and in the process many of them have been missing.

He disclosed that only three of the 11 trucks deployed to the area returned to their base in Maiduguri, after suffering huge loss in the battle with the insurgents.

“There was a quick response by the army when they received reports that hundreds of the insurgents gathered at Boboshe on Maiduguri-Konduga-Bama road.

“The gallant soldiers were ambushed by the insurgents, only three of the 11 trucks returned to the base.

“It is not clear what happened but it was assumed the soldiers were missing following the ambush,” he added.

Meanwhile, residents of Jilli community in Gubio local government council of Borno, on Saturday fled the town sequel to an attack by Boko Haram insurgents.

It was learnt that the insurgent attacked the area from the axis of Lake Chad, forcing the residents to flee.

Malam Bukar Mustapha, one of the residents, told NAN that he and other villagers fled their homes when they received report that the insurgents were coming to attack them.

“In the afternoon on Saturday, we heard that the insurgents gathered in the nearby bush preparing for the attack.

“I am one of those who ran to Maiduguri, which is about 45 kilometres from my village.

On Sunday morning, I called Gubio and I was told that the insurgents had attacked the town during the night time. I do not have the casualties because the situation is still not clear at Jilli,” Mustapha said.

Another resident who pleaded anonymity said troops had been deployed to the area.

Murdered Corp Member: Family tells Police to probe Abuja hospital

Murdered corps member

The family of the Corp Member who was murdered by a Police Officer has petitioned the Police to go after the Management of the Abuja hospital that attended to their daughter’s autopsy report.

Recall that the Corp member was shot at a checkpoint immediately after Ceddi Plaza by a police officer, identified as Benjamin Peters.

The incident occurred after the deceased who rounded up her job at about 11pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, joined a few friends at a hang–out before their Passing out Parade scheduled for the following day.

The corps member who was rushed to the General Hospital, Garki, eventually gave up the ghost around 6am.

Debunking the hospital’s claims that it administered immediate medical aid to the deceased, Angela’s sister, Chinenye Igwetu told Punch’s correspondent that the Abuja hospital’s claims was at variance with what the autopsy report revealed.

According to her, Angela’s organs were not affected by bullet. She added that the pipes inserted into the Corps member by the hospital broke her rib cage.

“The autopsy was carried out at a national hospital and the report is totally different from what the hospital said.

“I am not a doctor, but according to the doctors that carried out the autopsy, she was not properly examined.

“The report shows that she would have been saved if proper medical attention had been given to her. Even if she was attended to, it is definitely after a lot of delay.

“Based on the autopsy, the bullet was not supposed to kill her. In fact, all her organs were intact. Even her lung that was brushed by the bullet was not shattered. It was the blood that was clotting from the bullet injury that killed her.

“The pipes that they inserted into her at the hospital broke her rib as well. They brought her in by 3am and she died at 6am. So what did they do between that time frame?” she said.

A petition, which was written by the family’s counsel, Simphil Associates to the Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command, read in part;

“We are solicitors to Chief Geoffrey Igwetu (hereinafter referred to as our client), the father to the late Angela Nkechi Igwetu who died on July 4, 2018, at the Garki Hospital, within the jurisdiction of the FCT Command.

“According to our client, his daughter, late Nkechi, was allegedly shot about 3.05am along the road of the CEDI plaza, Central Business District, Abuja, and within five minutes of the incident, she was rushed to the Garki Hospital, Abuja, for medical attention.

“Surprisingly, the hospital refused to promptly administer the treatment on the grounds that the family must deposit N50,000 before any medical service would be rendered to her.

“They reportedly rejected an offer of transfer of the said sum to their account and insisted on production of the money in cash.

“The family claimed that the hospital watched its daughter died slowly, adding that after the Divisional Police Officer of the Central Area Police Division reportedly deposited N20,000 with the promise of personally ensuring the payment of the balance of N30,000, the hospital still refused to conduct medical examination on Angela.

“We are still in shock that after five days of the death of late Nkechi, the Garki General Hospital released a report, dated July 9, 2018, claiming among other issues that there was no ‘exit wound’ on her. Unbelievable!!!

“The condition/demand by the said hospital as pre-condition before the late Nkechi could be treated and the eventual refusal/neglect to give her the required medical treatment is contrary to the provisions of the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Act signed into law by the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on December 20, 2017.

“In view of the above, it is our brief to demand that you investigate the above allegations for the possible prosecution of the Chief Medical Director (CMD) and other staff of the hospital on duty on the early hours of July 4, 2018, for their failure to comply with the extant laws that will make it compulsory that people in the situation such as late Miss Nkechi found herself are treated promptly.

“Our client strongly believes that prompt medical care could have saved the life of his daughter, late Angela Nkechi Igwetu,” the petition added.

Davido, I love you — Wizkid’s babymama, Sola Ogudugu confesses

Sola Ogudugu confesses

The number one baby mama of Starboy Wizkid, Shola Ogudu took the internet by surprise after declaring love for the number one competition of her baby daddy Davido, via Twitter days ago.

Mother of one, Shola pointed out that it is strange for her to feel what she feels for Davido considering many things, but she couldn’t help but notice that Davido is a sweet boy with positive vibes that make her happy.

“might seem weird…but Davido’s positive vibes and energy makes me soooo super happy. Lol… Love him…” she tweeted throwing the internet ablaze.

Sola Ogudugu confesses

It is no longer news that Wizkid and his first two baby mamas are not on good terms, in fact they think of him as a deadbeat dad…hence, Shola publicly declaring love and support for Davido is indeed very weird and full of unspoken words.

Most people who reacted to the tweet quickly asked why it’s weird. She never responded though, but the question keeps ringing and ringing and it is doubtful if Wizkid would make a toast to that. She said “Davido’s positive vibes”, what exactly she meant by that has also been left hanging and begging for explanation.

Sola Ogudugu confesses

It is however public knowledge that things between Wizkid and his baby mama, Sola Ogudu, have not been kosher as evident in her last month’s tweet, describing the Pakurumo’s crooner as an irresponsible father who has abdicated his fatherly role to his son.

Could this recent tweet of open confession of love for Wizkid’s number one rival be another of Sola’s attempt at landing a big one on the Starboy as her last outcry didn’t seem to have hit the right spot she wanted?

“Fayemi’s Victory Shows Nigerians Are Happy With Buhari” – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Sunday said the outcome of the Ekiti election won by Kayode Fayemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a referendum on the performance of the President Muhammad Buhari’s administration.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Minister said the election which was more than one state’s governorship election was not just a defeat for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but all naysayers and purveyors of fake news.

Fayemis Victory

He said:

“With the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded Ekiti governorship election, Nigeria people have spoken, and they have spoken loudly, about their perception of the APC-led Buhari Administration.

“The election was more than one state’s gubernatorial poll. It was a referendum on the performance of the Buhari Administration. And Nigerians have given their verdict!

“It’s not just a defeat for the PDP, it’s a defeat for all the naysayers who have made themselves the spokespersons for Nigerians.

“Furthermore, it is a death knell for fake news! Anyone who monitored the social media before and during the election would think it would be a landslide for the PDP. But the reality is different.

“We want to most sincerely thank the people of Ekiti State for ensuring that the election was free, fair and credible, as attested to by local and international observers, and for turning out en masse to exercise their franchise.

“In 2014, the votes of the people of Ekiti did not count as the then PDP-led Federal Government used federal might to hijack the election and concoct the result. They barred two serving Governors from travelling to Ekiti to support their fellow Governor.

They wilfully shut the Akure airport and we, leaders of then opposition APC, were forced to return to Lagos by road in the night.

“With the roles reversed in 2018, we did not pay the PDP back in its own coin, because of our strong belief in the rule of law. The rest is history.”

Soldier blasts Police boss, Yomi Shogunle for blocking him after he complained about SARS

Soldiers blast police

A Nigerian Soldier has slammed the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Yomi Shogunle.

He accused him of blocking him on Twitter after he complained about SARS harassment.

In his tweet addressed to Yomi Shogunle, the Nigerian Soldier promised to deal with any SARS officer who ‘crosses his path’. He also told their loved ones to be ready to mourn them.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, obviously not in the mood to argue over SARS indiscipline or respond to the the threat, decided to block the pained soldier on twitter.

The soldier called the ACP out on this act; he wrote:

FUCKING BASTARD BLOCKED ME! ABAYOMI YOU CAN SEND YOUR SO CALLED SARS DOWN HERE TO MY BARRACKS ! IF YOU ARE SO PAINED! #ENDSARS

Recall that few days ago, a Nigerian soldier alleged that SARS officers tortured his cousin to death. According to @Jessjags, the SARS officers who arrested his cousin accused him of being a yahoo boy, only to change the story by accusing the deceased of a being a cultist. However after the mother of the deceased couldn’t pay the 60K bail for the release of her child, the soldier disclosed that his cousin was tortured to death.

He tweeted;

While I was busy fighting for the peace of my country #SARS were busy torturing my cousin till Death. Got a shocking news entering into town now. I think am done with this country.

Well, I rest my case here. What are we really fighting for? When the lives of our loved ones at home isn’t safe. #mood

Another Nigerian reportedly shot dead in South Africa

The Nigerian community in South Africa has expressed shock over the killing of another Nigerian, Mr. Martin Ebuzoeme, by unknown assailant in that country.

The President of Nigerian Union in South Africa, Mr. Adetola Olubola, confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Sunday, that the victim was killed in Yeoville, Johannesburg, around 7:30pm on July 12.
The killing came barely 24 hours after the visit of South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa, to Nigeria.

Ramaphosa had during his visit on July 11 said that the killing of Nigerians and other foreign nationals in the country was an act of criminality, not specifically targeted at Nigerians.

”The killings are caused by high level of unemployment among the youth as well as other social factors emanating from long apartheid misrule.

”Government is however, doing all best possible to bring it down,” Ramaphosa had said.

The Nigeria Consul General in Johannesburg, Mr Godwin Adama, said that latest killing did not have anything to do with xenophobic attacks.

Adama told the NAN on phone from Johannesburg that the killing happened in a crime invested area of the country.

”The man was killed by unknown gunmen and has nothing to do with xenophobic.

“The place is a crime prone area and those kind of assassinations happened often in that area.

”There is no investigation that showed that it was xenophobic.

”Within a year here, we have about 16,000 murders which do not necessarily have anything to do with any national of a particular country,” he said.

NAN reports that killing of Nigerians in South Africa had been on the increase in recent times.

Before the latest one, there was the assassination of Mr Ozumba Tochukwu-Lawrence, by an unknown gunman at 10 Koppe, Middleburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa, on July 6.

Another Nigerian, ThankGod Okoro, was also reportedly shot dead in Hamburg, Florida West Rand, Johannesburg, on April 9 by the South African Police Flying Squad.

There was also the killing of Clement Nwaogu in April, a father of two, who was burnt to death by his assailant.

The killings of Nigerians in South Africa had sparked a number of protests there.

For demanding justice on behalf of their fallen compatriots, 14 of the protesters were taken into custody and branded drug peddlers.

Pastor Chris Okotie declares his intention to run for Presidency in 2019 during Church Service

Pastor Chris Okotie declares

Pastor Chris Okotie, Pastor of the Household of God Church International Ministries, Lagos has officially declared his intention to run for the 2019 Presidential election today.

Speaking during the church service, he said:

“Some days ago, I wrote a letter to the chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus, asking them not to field any Presidential candidate, that they should adopt me.”

He noted that Nigeria is a crying nation that need liberation. The solution to Nigeria’s problem does not lies on APC or PDP, adding, “This is the beginning of the completely turnaround of our nation”

”I will challenge Kayode Fayemi’s victory” Ekiti PDP governorship candidate, Kolapo Olusola says

PDP candidate in yesterday’s governorship election in Ekiti state, Professor Kolapo Olusola, has rejected the results of the poll as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The electoral body this morning anounced APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi, the winner of the election.

In his official reaction to the outcome of the election, Olusola who is currently the deputy governor of the state, alleged that there was wide spread irregularities and that the will of the people had been subverted.

Olusola insisted that PDP won in all 16 Local Governments areas with 70 per cent of the lawful votes cast.

Read his reaction below

“You are all aware of the unfortunate and dangerous events of the past 24 hours, in which our governorship election was hijacked by political desperadoes leveraging on “Federal might” to pervert the electoral process, subvert the will of Ekiti people, and viciously steal the mandate willingly and freely given to me on a massive scale by our people.

“PDP and I won the election overwhelmingly, receiving more than 70% of lawful votes cast and winning in almost all of the State’s 16 local government areas. I therefore reject the falsified results being bandied by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which purportedly gave the election to the All Progressives Congress and its Candidate; Dr. John Kayode Fayemi. This is the most audacious electoral robbery of our recent history. It shall not stand. By the grace of Almighty God and your support, I will pursue and regain my mandate.

“To rig this election, the APC leveraged on its well-advertised but patently obnoxious and anti-democratic “Federal might” to intimidate, harass, victimize, oppress, and brutalize PDP leaders, members, and the voting public all over Ekiti. This brutal and barbaric process, which started well before the election, did not spare Gov. Ayo Fayose and me; as the whole world had seen and had condemned. It is quite unfortunate that the harassment has continued even after the election.

“On Saturday, July 14th, the security agencies and INEC upped the ante, threw all caution to the wind, went back on their promises to be impartial and to conduct credible elections; they sided with APC and Fayemi to the chagrin of our party, myself, and the good people of Ekiti State. Despite the alarm we had earlier raised, the security agencies not only supported but also supervised
• The indiscriminate arrest of our party leaders and agents
• The harassment and brutalization of voters on a massive scale, especially in Ado-Ekiti, Ikere and the suburbs
• Giving cover, tacit as well as active support to thugs imported into Ekiti by APC to snatch ballot boxes, create confusion, cause mayhem, and drive away voters in PDP strongholds
• Giving cover to APC agents as they financially and openly induced voters and bought votes at polling stations; and
• Driving away our polling agents from collation centres and illegal seizure of documents and materials in their possession, among many other infractions.

INEC on its own part reneged on its promise to have results counted, declared, and pasted on the wall of each polling station. There was nowhere INEC transmitted results from the polling centres as earlier promised. Ballot boxes were illegally moved to INEC offices while our agents were disallowed from following the process.

INEC also allowed late voting by APC in hideouts when it was obvious the figures still would not add up after all the infractions mentioned above. Still, when all of these shenanigans still failed to give them the figures they needed, they stopped the announcement of results ward-by-ward, caused a deliberate power outage at the collation centre, with no alternative source of power provided for a long time, and then wrote results in favour of APC and its candidate.

Without doubt, what has played out in Ekiti is the APC template for the 2019 General Election, where they have mapped out Rivers and Akwa Ibom as States they must capture at all costs, like they are now trying to do Ekiti. It is now left for the opposition and opposition figures, most especially presidential hopefuls in 2019, to stand up to be counted in the struggle to roll back President Muhammadu Buhari’s creeping fascism, or throw in the towel without a fight.

This is not just a sad day for Ekiti but also for democracy in Nigeria. Nothing demonstrates this better than the gloom that has enveloped our dear State since they announced their convoluted result. Ekiti mourns! But I ask our people not to be despondent but to keep hope alive, quoting the inimitable Chief MKO Abiola. This is another battle we will fight and win.

In doing this, however, I appeal to all Ekiti sons and daughters to eschew violence. They will try and provoke you but the good Lord will help you to keep calm. Taking a cue from our great leader and democrat par excellence, ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, I wish to reiterate that my ambition is not worth the blood of a single Ekiti son or daughter. We are not cultists and bloody hounds like them and shall therefore not allow them turn Ekiti into a killing field like they have done in the Middle Belt.

It remains for me to thank Ekiti for standing by me and our great party. Our royal fathers and the Oloris, teachers, civil servants, Okada riders, Labour leaders, market women, artisans, and students – I appreciate your unflinching support. We thank every Nigerian desirous to see the growth and defence of our renascent democracy.
We thank the international community for their efforts and trust they will not let our people down in this their most trying moment.

Twitter user gets savage response after saying “being broke at 25 means you’re poor”

You know how people just go on to social media to make interesting theses about certain issues in life – some of these people usually make sense, while some others… well… don’t make an atom of sense!

A Twitter user thought it wise to take her thesis to Twitter – a social media community that has the savagest of users – and got a response that’ll leave you in stitches.

According to Iwalewa,

Being broke ends at 25. After 25 you’re no longer broke; you’re poor!

Quite an interesting notion but seems to lack wisdom in each letter written – a user made sure to let her in on the lack of wisdom in her tweet as he replied as thus,

So is being childish and making childish tweets like this. After 25, you’re no longer childish, you’re stupid.

Well, ouch!

The post read in part:

“I had a pick-up arrangement today at the airport in Moscow and had a rare privilege of meeting the Governor of Lagos State, the most populous and commercial Hub of Nigeria. “I quickly introduced myself while I waited for my pick-up arrangement to come out.

We had a small chat and exchanged knowledge and wisdom while I waited. “He bade me farewell as his pick-up arrangement had arrived. After a few minutes, my pick-up arrived as well. So, we set out to the car park. As soon as we came out of the airport, I saw a crowd of over 50 Nigerians who had been stranded at the airport for between 10 and 15 days now.

In their middle was this same man, Ambode. As soon as he sighted me, he quickly called my attention to assist. It was a pathetic state and a lot of words both pleasant and unpleasant were being exchanged. “Then, Ambode did something that amazed me.

He showed solidarity and quickly pledged to send all 50 stranded Nigerians home and assigned me to oversee the transfers and procurement of new tickets to send them home.” He confirmed that 19 out of this 50 “are already on air to Lagos Nigeria. The remaining 31 are leaving this evening. Ambode also fed them all as he gave them cash to eat while they waited for their tickets to fly home.
