The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday said that the visit of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron to Lagos will usher in a new dawn.
Ambode made the remark while speaking at the Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, on Tuesday night, at an event tagged “Celebrate African Culture”, which welcomed Macron to the state.
Ambode stated that the French Leader’s visit would signal the dawn of a new collaboration between France and Lagos State.
He said “President Macron’s visit is expected to signal the dawn of a new collaboration between France and Lagos State in the quest to make the state the culture and entertainment capital of Africa.
“The event is also about celebrating African culture which was a positive step for France as it sought to rebuild its relationship with Africa.”
The French leader at the event was given the opportunity to interact with Nigerian musicians, artists, fashion designers and filmmakers, even as he encouraged Nigerian youths to participate in politics.
French President, Emmanuel Macron has ulfilled his promise to visit the new Afrikan Shrine in Lagos.
Last night, the 40-year-old French leader was received by late Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s first son, Femi Kuti in company of Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
In the words of the French President, ‘I mean Fela, Femi, Seun Kuti are obviously very famous in France and Europe, I mean they are big successes but the Shrine is a cultural hub, an iconic hub and it is very important for me first on a personal level, and that is why I want 2 say with a lot of humility that I recognize the importance of this place, I recognize the place of culture in this current environment.”

Daniel Oyebanjo III died after drowning at a pool in Dbanj’s Ikoyi residence on Sunday afternoon.
His remains have been moved to a morgue at GRA, Ikeja.

Justice Okon Abang, the judge presiding over the case of alleged fraud involving a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, has demanded the prosecution of three staff of Channels Television.
Abang also asked the office of the Attorney-General to institute a case of alleged prejudicial comments against a lawyer, Benchux Nwosu, representing Mr Metuh.
The judge gave the order after listening to a recorded programme aired on Channels Television involving the ongoing trial of Mr Metuh.
The judge, however, failed to include a lawyer representing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Johnson Ojogbane, who spoke through a telephone conversation to the station during the aired programme.
“The court has listened attentively to the video recording of Channels Television Sunrise Daily of April, 2018.
“I noticed that Bemchux Nwosu was also on the programme. I heard what he said about the trial going on in this court. If he was in court before me, I would have known what to do. I thought he had the courage. He ought to have appeared before the court.
“It is clear that the statement of the programme was aired outside the court, not within the court, therefore I have no jurisdiction to determine whether the statements are prejudicial to this court,” the judge said.
Mr Abang said though he had no jurisdiction to declare that the statement made by the three persons representing Channels constituted prejudicial discussion, “I have jurisdiction to refer this matter to the body that can determine such.”
The judge then ordered that the matter be referred to the disciplinary committee of the Nigeria Bar Association. He also directed that the prosecution (EFCC) file copies of compliance to the judgement within 30 days.
Part of what the prosecution is expected to comply with is the arraignment of the three journalists along with Mr Nwosu in a court of law.
The judge said the case should be instituted by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
An APC Mega rally held in Owerri, Imo state earlier today, and the Governor, Rochas Okorocha said the Igbos who never believed in President Buhari when he was campaigning for president in 2015, have declared to support him in 2019. President Buhari will be seeking re-election in 2019.

There is no partial support for APC for President and support the governor differently.” he said

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, says Nigerians presently have more electricity than they can consume.

Vincent Uche Mbanefo, a 100-Level student of the Anambra State University, Igbariam, was yesterday, struck dead by lightning during a downpour in the State.

A Graduate of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) identified as Adamu Eather Jauro on Facebook took to the platform to disclose humans are worthless to him when compared with his cows.
Sharing a photo of his 300 cows, he wrote:

This comes after Hon. Aishatu Jibril Dukku, a house of representatives member, representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State in the green chamber disclosed why their cows are very important to them.
Dukku during plenary on herdsmen attacks, said Fulani herdsmen value lives of their cows more than their own lives. Aisha told the house that too much consumption of maggi, has made Nigerians so impatient to their problems.
She advised government authorities to proffer a workable solution in favour of the herdsmen.
“You can’t sit down and make conclusions on herdsmen. Yes, they values life of their cows more than even their own lives because that is how God has created them.
“Nigerians have become so edgy these days, maybe because of the food we eat, maybe because we eat too much of maggi.
“We have become so impatient that’s why we don’t listen to each other.
“We don’t want to proffer solution that will be workable to our country.”
However, criticising her colleague for saying God created the Fulani herdsman to value a cow’s life more than his own’s life, the lawmaker representing the Ado/Obadigbo/Opkokwu Constituency in Benue State, Mr. Hassan Saleh, replied;
“No cow, not even 10 billion cows, has enough value like a human being. So when you say God has created them [herdsmen] in such a manner that they value their cows more than human beings, I find that very insulting and demeaning.”

News broke yesterday about Pa Michael Obi, Mikel’s father’s rescue. Pa Obi, was kidnapped for the second time in seven years alongside his driver, John Ishaya on Makurdi-Enugu Road on June 29.

Abdullahi Ganduje, the Governor of Kano State has described President Buhari as a true democrat who loves Nigeria more than himself.

A controversial historian has claimed Jesus and his apostles may have used cannabis oil to perform healing ‘miracles.’
Author David Bienenstock claims cannabis was widely available across the Middle East 2,000 years ago and people of the time used it to treat the sick and infirm.
Holy anointing oils used in the early days of the Christian church contained kaneh-bosem, an ingredient Bienenstock suggests was a cannabis extract.
This extract, which was absorbed into the skin, could have helped cure people with physical and mental illnesses long before the first mass-produced medicines.
Many historians dispute the contentious claims, arguing that evidence kaneh-bosem was a cannabis extract is so weak it is not worth pursuing.
Bienenstock, author of a number of books encouraging the use of marijuana, says healing practices based around cannabis oil were common 2,000 years ago.
Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: ‘Historical records show that cannabis was widely available at the time – they would’ve known how to grow it and exploit its medicinal properties.
‘There is nothing different in the efficacious cannabis oil used today that wouldn’t have been available to people in Jesus’ time – it’s simply a matter of concentrating the cannabis into the oil and absorbing it through the skin.’
Anointing oils were regularly used by the Christian church of the time to treat the sick and elderly by rubbing them directly onto the skin.
A number of people believe an ingredient used in some of these oils may have had psychoactive properties and could have featured a cannabis extract.
The Hebrew version of the holy oil recipe in Exodus contained almost 3 kilos (6lb) of an as-yet unidentified herb referred to as keneh-bosum.
Most historians think the herb refers to calamus – a root extrac also known as ‘Sweet Flag’ that has been used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years.
Some argue that keneh-bosum, which was extracted into about six quarts of olive oil along with a variety of other fragrant herbs, was cannabis or a cannabis extract.
Cannabis researcher Chris Bennett wrote in an article in the US drugs magazine High Times: ‘The ancient anointed ones were literally drenched in this potent mixture.
‘The medical use of cannabis during that time is supported by archaeological records.’
Bienenstock added that anyone healed by cannabis-lined oils would have see the practice as a ‘miracle’.
‘Someone of the religious mindset from that time, not understanding the scientific underpinning of how or why it works, would be likely to view that as a miracle.’
Bienenstock even claimed Jesus himself would have taken cannabis.
‘Jesus himself was anointed, and if that anointing involved using cannabis oil, then he certainly did use it,’ he claimed.
‘When you examine the account of Jesus’ anointing it is described in terms of psychoactivity – it is described in terms of when Jesus has this profound experience that transforms him.
‘This is a big indication of the centrality of anointing was to Jesus and his flock – that he would take the name “Christ the anointed”.’
Historians and other experts strongly dispute the claims Jesus and his apostles used marijuana.
Lytton John Musselman, a Professor of Botany at Old Dominion University, said evidence claiming marijuana was part of the holy anointing oil is ‘so weak I would not pursue it.’
He told Vice that keneh-bosum more likely refers to calamus than any psychoactive substances.
‘Calamus is a very important component of Ayurvedic medicine and has been shown to have efficacy,’ he said.
Nollywood actor, Benson Okonkwo who is known for his signature long locs, has surprised many after he shaved his hair with a razor blade on the set of a new movie.
According to the actor, he didn’t take the action just put of the goodwill of his heart, or trying to portray his character well, but in compensation, he was given an additional N150 thousand to shave his hair.
The actor took to his Instagram to share a video as a lady shaves his hair with a razor blade. He captioned it,

Actress, Ayomide Dawodu and her baby daddy are currently engaged in an exchange of words.
They are attacking each other with different accusations on their son’s Instagram page.
It all started when their son Edric Olatomiwa, shared a photo of his actress mum on his page with the caption:
“My momma is finer than urs?? can’t love u less mom happy Sunday y’all #my mom deserves plenty accolades.”
The post didn’t sit well with his father who dropped a comment stating:
”Nothing is precious about having Ayomide as your mother! A mother that never care! A mother that drop you off at 8 month! She stopped breast feeding you and drop you like trash! Good mother have there precious gifts beside them.”
Responding to the comment from her baby daddy, Ayomide Dawodu wrote:
”Who is more useless between u, ur mother n myself. Ur mother that told you then not to give ur pregnant wife feeding allowance u as foolish as u are did that. The son u claim to be unkept, when last have u sent him feeding allowance instead u are lavishing money on ur so called sister JOKE DAD dat u are sleeping with, with the knowledge n approval of ur mother who also says she is ur sister. only God knows if u are using it for rituals cos that was what u n ur mother wanted to do with my so.useless father!! u can’t even write complete sentence!!!go back to school.”
Firing back, her baby daddy wrote:
”Ur mate are doing more better! You keep getting worse! U can’t even take good care of your own son! Disappointed anyway till then.

it all started when a troll accused Alex copying Nina who got a henna about one week ago. Alex who didn’t find comment slammed the follower.
Nina then posted an Instagram story slamming someone she addressed as ‘some things’ for mentioning her name in her “negativity”.
After their exchange went viral on social media, Alex took to her Instastory moments ago to disclose that she’s got no fight with Nina and their post was not directed to each other.
She wrote;

Former Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ngozi Braide, is now counting her losses after her driver, one Mr. Philip Jonathan reportedly burgled her bedroom, carted away with her belongings, foreign currency worth about N10m and escaped in Lagos.
According to a report by PM Express, the sad incident happened at her home in the Maryland of Lagos where she lived with her family.
It was learnt that Mr. Jonathan, 38, targeted Braide when she was not around. He then broke into her room, stole those items and escaped. He was alleged to have taken away cash of three thousand Dollars valued at N1.1m, 2 gold chains worth N2.8m, diamond ring worth N3.6m and other valuables put in total at about N10m.
The theft was reported to the operatives of FSARS who trailed Mr. Jonathan and arrested him while his accomplices were said to be at large. The police did not disclose if they recovered the items after the suspect was arrested.
He was charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi did not oppose his bail.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat granted him bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 25th October, 2018. Police sources said that Braide was traumatized by the incident as almost all the jewelries she had accumulated over the years were stolen.
Mrs. Ngozi Braide was known for her proficiency when she was the PPRO during the period retired AIG Manko was the Commissioner of Police in Lagos. She was later transferred and had been redeployed to other locations before the incident happened at her residence.

As revealed by FIFA general coordinator Priscilla Janssens on Twitter, Japan’s squad left the tournament on a high note – they left after leaving dressing room spotlessly clean with a note of thanks in Russian.
Sharing a picture of their spotless post-match dressing room, Janssens wrote:
‘This is the Japanese dressing room (sic) after losing to Belgium in the 94’ minute.
