A 24-year-old notorious car thief, Yemi Adeoye, says he specialized in stealing Honda cars because they were easy to unlocked and disposed off.

Adeoye who was paraded alongside other criminals at the Ondo state police headquarters yeterday July 19th, is said to have stolen about 32 Honda CRVs in the last two years.

Speaking with newsmen, Adeoye said he stole three Honda cars recently because he had a case in court and he needed money to settle his lawyer.

“I sold two Honda CRV at the sum of N680,000 to feed myself and to pay my lawyer for his service because I have a pending case in the court. I gave the two cars to Abiola Anifowose who is a vulcanizer. He sold them to Ayeni Paul who is a tailor,” he said.

The police command’s spokesperson, Femi Joseph, said Adeoye was arrested in Shasha area of Akure while trying to steal a Toyota Corolla belonging to one Olanipekun. Joseph said the command has arrested Adeoye more than three times, wondering why he always secured his release in court.

He said Adeoye, who was freed by the court on June 15th went back to business the following day by stealing an Honda CRV belonging to a journalist in Ondo town.

“After the suspect was arrested, he confessed to specializing in stealing of Honda cars and Jeeps. Another suspect, Waheed Anifowose, a vulcanizer, who specialised in selling all vehicles stolen by Adeoye was also arrested,” Joseph said.

The PPRO said three vehicles including one Toyota Corolla car with registration number SS 719 AAA and two Honda CRV Jeeps as well as master keys were recovered from the suspects.

A 90-day-old baby boy, whose mother allegedly wanted dead, was rescued from beneath a trailer where she put him so he could be crushed.

Aisha Yau, who stays under the popular Kawo bridge in Kaduna, was said to have purposely kept the baby under a trailer’s wheel with the expectation that when the trailer moves, it will crush him. But the baby was rescued before that could happen, The Nation reports.

It was revealed that after the mother put her baby beneath the truck, she stood to one side and prevented people from carrying the baby while also persuading the driver of the truck to start the engine. Fortunately, a passerby quickly called the attention of the Kaduna State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hafsat Muhammed, who then rescued the baby from Aisha.

When queried, the child’s mother said she could not explain how she found herself in Kaduna. She hinted that it was the crisis in her state, Taraba, that scattered her family members and she hasn’t seen any of them for over a year.

She explained: “One of my suitors in Kasuwan Baici here in Kaduna, got me pregnant but he denied the pregnancy and refused to take care of me and the baby. So, I want to kill the baby to save myself from shame.”

Speaking with newsmen, the commissioner said she has directed the social department in her ministry to take Aisha to the hospital for medical examination and treatment before repatriating her and her child to Taraba State.

A woman has been arrested and charged with letting men rape her 2-year-old daughter who reportedly contracted sexually transmitted disease after the incident.

25-year-old Azzie Watson of Independence, Kansas City was on Tuesday charged with child abuse and endangerment.

WDAF-TV reports that court documents say Watson’s boyfriend recorded Watson talking about repeatedly taking her daughter to a house where her daughter was raped about five times. She says on the recording that she watched.

Police were given the recording last month while responding to a rape report at a hospital.

It was also claimed in the court documents that Watson told detectives what she said in the recording was a lie because she was scared of her boyfriend. When Detectives told Azzie, her daughter also tested positive for a sexually transmitted disease, the mom said she didn’t know how that was possible.

Watson is currently at the Wyandotte County jail. Her bail is set at $75,000 and no attorney is listed for her in online court records.

Nemesis caught up with a wanted robbery suspect, Bukola Adeoye, when one of his victims, who came for treatment in a hospital for injuries inflicted on him by Adeoye, identified him, as he was in same hospital for injuries sustained after a gun battle with policemen in Ondo State.

According to Vanguard, Bukola, alias Agbara, who died hours later having confessed his robbery activities to detectives, robbed one Gbenga Babatomi, 48, of Sabo area, Ore, the previous night and inflicted several machete injuries on him.

He was one of the two robbery suspects that escaped from Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, operatives few weeks ago in handcuffs. No fewer than four Police detectives have been in detention since the suspects’ escape.

The other suspect, Rotimi Adeyeye, according to the Police, is yet to be arrested.

Parading the suspects, the state Police Commissioner, Gbenga Adeyanju, said the detectives from SARS, Akure, received information that the escapee-suspects were taking cover in the house of one of their girlfriends, Loveth, in Akure.

Adeyanju said: “On July 17, at 9a.m., detectives from Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Akure, received information that the robbery suspects, one Bukola Adeoye, alias Agbara, and one Rotimi Adeyeye, were taking cover in the house of one Loveth Ogbu.

“A team of detectives swooped on the said Loveth Ogbu, arrested her and, on interrogation, she confessed that the escaped robbery suspects were in Ore.

“Based on her confession, detectives mobilised to Ore and arrested one Felix Eteti, aged 27 years, of Ebenezer Street, Sabo, who is a member of the gang.

“On July 18, at 2a.m., the team received a distress call from members of the public that robbers were operating at Sabo Area, Ore.

“Detectives trailed the robbers to a primary school in Ore. On sighting the detectives, the robbers opened fire on them and during exchange of fire one of the suspects, Adeoye, sustained gunshot injury on his right leg.

“He was rushed to General Hospital, Ore, where he died few hours after.

“However, one Gbenga Babatomi, 48, of Sabo, who was earlier robbed by Bukola Adeoye and his gang the previous night, came to the same hospital to treat the machete cuts inflicted on him by the robbers, identified Bukola Adeoye as one of the robbers that attacked him.

“Items recovered from the suspects are one cut-to-size gun, three cutlasses, one empty shell and four live cartridges.”
