It’s not news that some celebrities actually can’t tolerate when they’re being trolled and so they tend to fire back hard at whoever comes at them but it’s not all that common for us to see these celebs ‘curse’ the mothers of these trolls.
Nollywood actor, Aremu Afolayan has wowed many with his temper on social media after he cursed at a troll who’d called him senseless – he not only cursed the troll but also his mother.
According to the actor, he usually doesn’t respond to trolls but this one in particular seems to have gotten to him to have gone as far as cursing the troll’s mother.
Aremu wrote on his page,
@gistmyne I have never ever replied no one in my life on platform like this but on this one, AIYE IYA E ONI DA. Morope werey nse werey e. EMI NIWO FE RAN. WON MA RAN IYA E NIBI TI OBA WA. Send me your pics, number and address . @wumitoriola jo ma gbami ooo.
… the language he used is quite strong, so get your Yoruba friends to translate for you if you want …
Many were of the stance that since he usually doesn’t respond to trolls, he ought to have done the same for this one too and ignored the person… well, maybe the word ‘senseless’ really pushes a button for him.
PDP warned President Buhari not to provide a cover for Adeosun.
The spokesman of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan in a statement in Abuja, said the revelation vindicates its stand that the Buhari Presidency is a haven of fraudsters, common thieves and persons of questionable character, adding that the recent revelation has cast a full-length dark shadow on the overall integrity of his administration.
He added: “The world can now see how the Buhari Presidency has been concealing sharp practices under it. We can now see why there is humongous corruption under President Buhari’s watch and why Mr. President has refused to take any concrete steps to check the sleazes in his administrations.
“Perhaps such ‘artful dodgers’ were deliberately hired and placed in revenue related agencies to perfect the pilfering of our common patrimony for interests in the Buhari Presidency.
“It is on this premise that PDP challenged Buhari to prove himself a man of integrity by allowing an open system-wide and independent inquest into all alleged corrupt practices in his presidency.

Nigerian Celebrities have been showing off their PVC on social media lately.
Celebrities like Chigul, Falz, and Roseline Meurer have collected their PVC and showcased it on social media.
Social media users have however chosen to focus on the ages on the cards and not the reason behind the display.
Controversial Nollywood actress, Daniella Okeke is not left out in this patriotic act as she also got her permanent voters card today. She put the card up on display on her social media page but she covered her age, reasons best known to her.
Social media users are not accepting this little act as they are asking her what she is hiding.
Blackface, a former member of a music group, Plantashun Boiz, has again vented in an explosive new interview with Saturday Beats.
The singer talked about the killings in Nigeria, the music industry and artists who stole his songs.
He said:
“They have killed a lot of people from my village, Agatu, in Benue. They have also killed people in Makurdi, and other places in Benue; then as they move up north to Adamawa, the trail of dead bodies continues. It does not affect my state alone.
“Sadly, the musicians are not doing anything about it. Some musicians just claim that they help victims either to gain public praises or for political reasons. Why can’t we come together and think of ways we can stop the killings probably by staging a concert?” he said.
On being blacklisted in the industry:
“I did a song which preaches against the killings but radio stations would not play it because I am in their bad books.
“Simply because I said some people stole my songs, that is why they placed me in their bad books.
“I know there is a plan against me. I am an independent musician and I do not need Tuface to push my music.
“If I release a song titled, ‘Stop the killings,’ and the radio big boys do not play it, only a few people would listen to the message I am preaching which is of national benefit.
“The so-called big OAPs like Freeze, who is always talking about pastors, are on the radio but they are not doing anything to push socially conscious songs that preach a message. But if Tekno sings a ‘Jogodo’, they will gladly play it.
“Their nonchalant attitude would destroy a lot of things and only bring more chaos.
“I have always advised the younger artistes to seek the permission of older artistes before they use their songs but no one listened.
“Wizkid took my song, ‘Whine it,’ sang it with Banky W and put it on his album, ‘Starboy.’
“That same song is on my album, ‘Dancehall business.’ When I raised the alarm, the whole media kicked against me and they stopped playing my music.
“Yet they say I am the bad one. How long would they keep sabotaging me?” he said.
Spouse of the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, Taiwo Obasanjo, has released a statement revealing what led to the crash of her son, Olujonwo’s one-year marriage to billionaire daughter, Tope Adebutu.
Mrs. Obasanjo who was against the wedding initially and had even gone to court to stop it, made some shocking allegations of what transpired in her son’s marriage to Tope.
She made all the allegations in a statement sent to LIB. Read the statement below…
THE CRUEL AND EVIL WIFE OF MY SON AND CHIEF OLUSEGUN OBASANJO:
BY MRS. TAIWO OBASANJO WHATSAPP NUMBER
PART ONE:
Psalm 62:11:
God Has Spoken Once,Twice I Have Heard This:That Power Belongs To God….not
to Tope Adebutu, Rosemary Dacosta or Chief Olusegun Obasanjo
ON TOPE ADEBUTU: She was introduced to my son by Chief Kenny Martins (my
Twin brother). Long before the marriage, it was prophesied that we should not do
a big wedding for my son before his 34th birthday and the wife coming will come
from a wealthy family but she will cause disaffection, disunity, division and great
problems in the family etc. and the wedding date must not fall on 11th or 13th
and we should not use gray colour during the wedding, as the gray colour
symbolises the death of the glory of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo like a gigantic fire
turning into ashes, they ignored and humiliated me and picked 11th and 13th and
gray colour which the Obasanjo’s family wore to the wedding.I was warned that
both date will open doors to great tragedy within the family and the nation and
the girl will stir up great storm in the family.
ROSEMARY DACOSTA-MOTHER OF TOPE ADEBUTU: I went to her house to
explain to her the need to shift the date based on the warning from the prophecy
received but her response was that we should forget the prophecy and do the
wedding quickly so that they can get big money from Chief Kessington Adebutu.
COURT CASE: when 11th and 13th of May was picked for the wedding, I
pressured Chief Kensington Adebutu and Dr. Biola Olorode (The first daughter of
Chief Kessington Adebutu) and Chief Kenny Martins to change the wedding date
but I was hated, rubbished and called all manner of names, they even said nobody
should listen to me that I am mentally deranged. Rosemary Dacosta and Tope
Adebutu even boasted that the wedding date remains 11th and 13th May 2017,
and that it is final.
I went to court to get them to shift the date to avert future problems, in order to
avert the disaster that was prophesied when I have been seriously warned against
that date. They came to court with 5 powerful Senior Advocate Lawyers to mock
and ridicule me in court that I have turned the wedding to an Ile-ife oracle, Ile-ife
is a town where the No. 1 Royal Monarch of the Yoruba’s comes from. I lost the
suit.
WEDDING DAYS OF MY SON FOR 11TH AND 13TH OF MAY 2017: I kept away, I
didn’t attend.
AFTER WEDDING: I started receiving phone calls on three different occasions that
my son has been running away from his matrimonial home because of the violent
and the wild insultive behaviour of Tope Adebutu.
HIDDEN SECRET HAPPENINGS IN THE MARRIAGE: Tope Adebutu on most
occasions would slap my son, abuse and treat him with arrogance and contempt,
when my son realized that Tope Adebutu suffers from emotional insecurity and
mental instability with daily threat from her that she would kill my son and
nothing will happen, my son started locking the door of his bed room and
sometimes running away from the house to save his life. My son is healthier and
stronger than her; I have brought him up never to beat his wife or any woman.
TOPE ADEBUTU AND HER MUMMY’S BEHAVIOUR: After the wedding
introduction Rosemary Dacosta and Tope fought one of Obasanjo’s daughter in
their house. Tope Adebutu would phone my son in Abeokuta to come and she will
seat in the car and give order to my son to get down and buy this, buy that for her
as if my son is her servant. After marriage, every little disagreement she will slap
my son and even slapping him in his car in the presence of my son’s driver
8.MY SON REFUSAL TO HAVE SEX WITH HER: After abusing, insulting, shouting
and slapping my son, she would then order my son to come and “fuck her” and
my son would go into his room and locked up himself and sometime run away
because my son is a normal human being with his senses and dignity intact. How
can any normal man make love to a demonic wife whose utterances and behavior
are boastful of cruelty, destruction and humiliation?
9. HONEY MOON: Before the honey moon a lot of strange things started
happening. Rosemary Dacosta insisted on going on honey moon with my son and
her daughter, my son ran away again when he heard this. His father, Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo forced my son out of hiding and compelled my son to go on
honey moon with his mother-in-law Rosemary Doacosta and Tope Adebutu. My
son paid Six Million Naira (6 million) for the ticket of Rosemary Dacosta and Tope
plus their hotel accommodation. All these were frightening development to my
son, a mother-in-law going with them on honey moon. And Chief Olusegun
Obasanjo supported this unheard of demand, forcing my son to agree.
Please I humbly ask the “whole world”…why on earth will a father force his
son to go on honey moon with his wife and mother-in-law.
10.RITUAL KILLING AND SACRIFICE: Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is evil, secretly in
demonic agreement with the two women Rosemary Dacosta and Tope, the three
of them wants to kill my son and use him as sacrifice, to fulfil his demonic
agreement to Tope Adebutu that he would ensure the speedy promotion of Tope
Adebutu to become the Chief Judge of Ogun State in the shortest possible
manner. When my son saw that his life was in danger, he ran away from the
Hiltop residence of his Dad- Chief Olusegun Obasanjo
11.ON CHIEF OLUSEGUN OBASANJO: Most times my son would report the
humiliating behaviour and utterances of Tope Adebutu to his Dad Chief Olusegun
Obasanjo, instead of admonishing and calling this girl to correct her, he will tell
my son to go and manage her, not for once did Chief Olusegun Obasanjo ever
called her to order.
12A.PATERNAL WICKEDNESS: The oppression, evil domination and disgusting
control of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on the life of my son makes him to keep
running away to save himself from being killed by his wife and his biological
father. When my son resisted his dad and refused to remain in his marriage, Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo became a raving mad man, he seized my son’s jeep, he
stopped his salary, he threatens that he would disowned my son, cut him off
from his “will”, he will ensure that my son amounts to nothing, that he will not
help him and he will block all avenues of his income and businesses to impoverish
him and make my son suffer untold hardship unless he returns to his marriage to
Tope.
12B. CHIEF OLUSEGUN OBASANJO: He threatened my son and warned him never
to speak to anyone or the public or the press or his mother on what is happening
to him in his marriage. The pain, the attack, the gang up, the desperate and
ungodly bullying of my son by his Dad to make my son submit his dignity, honour
and respect to Tope is unheard of, his desperation goes even to the extent of
forcefully compelling and demanding that my son must come back and start
having sex with his wife or else he would make him suffer more deeply.
13A. CHIEF OLUSEGUN OBASANJO KEPT TOPE ADEBUTU MY SON’S WIFE
SECRETLY IN HIS PENT HOUSE: He kept my son’s wife Tope in his presidential
library where she lived for over three months, near his own Pent house and he
goes to see Tope secretly in the dead of the night. My son caught Tope his wife
there on the 14th of March 2018 when he visited his Dad unannounced and after
witnessing this first hand he ran away again. This is very true and can be verified.
Chief Obasanjo will repeatedly phone my son threatening and shouting like a
fatally wounded lion saying reconcile with your wife Tope “come back and start
sleeping with your wife” I won’t marry another wife for you, I will not marry
another wife for you repeatedly, the question is… why is Chief Olusegun Obasanjo
desperately and forcefully demanding that my son should go back and start
having sex with his wife, knowing that my son is running away from a wife who
has repeatedly served advance warning to my son that “I will kill you and nothing
will happen.
Chief Obasanjo married over fifteen wives and has more than thirty concubines.
When Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was having problem with his own first wife the
Army did not seize his car, did not drive him from his official residence, did not
stop his salary or seize or freeze his bank account or payment of his salary, the
Army did not join forces with his 1st wife or punished him because of his wife or
gang up against him, the Military didn’t pry into his sex life or extramarital life, the
Army didn’t disgrace or retired him with humiliation.
When Nelson Mandela came out of prison, the horror, the humiliation, and the
abuse which was not known to the world but was privately meted out to him by
Winnie at the home front made him to seek divorce from Winnie. Prince Charles
of England also got his divorce from Diana when he couldn’t cope with Diana.
It is very sad and very painful to say this, but Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is
frightfully evil, wicked, sick and sexually immoral demonically, a sadistic
psychopathic father and an unrepentant arrogant tormentor of his children who is
abusing and misusing his paternal power and influence to negatively cow his
children into submission, possessing demonic intelligence,a serial satanic
destroyer of all family values without remorse.
Nigerian thespian, Adesua Etomi-Wellington seems to be setting a new course in her career as an entertainer – the lovely seems to be looking towards the direction of music.
We’ve been left to wonder if she got the motivation from her husband, Banky W who began as a musician before also finding his way into acting.
It should be recalled that the actress wowed us about two years back, way before she and Banky W tied the knots when she shared an Instagram video of herself singing with a group of people… so it’s probably safe to say, she’s had the musical thingy coming a long time ago eh?
The actress recently let us in on her new development after she took to her page to share a photo of herself in the studio and captioned it,
What I’ve been up to for a few months.Less excuses, more moves. Can’t believe I’m actually doing it…
It’s worthy of note that the actress is not the first female thespian to delve into music from acting, as over the decades, we’ve had actresses like Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji, Tonto Dikeh and others have a taste of music and really, it was fun while it lasted.
We certainly can’t wait to see what Aunty Susu has to bring!
The lovely, a while ago, took to her Instagram page, to share some encouraging words with her millions of fans – she also flaunted her diamond wedding ring as she shared some words to motivate her fans.
She wrote:
“Smile, even if it’s very little! Yesterday was tough but you made it through. Let’s do it again today.
“One step at a time. One day at a time. Now and always, ☀ Sunshine.”
Nollywood actress, Roseline Meurer came under fire recently after she revealed that she’s 26 years old – she made this revelation after she registered for her Permanent Voters’s Card from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Just like many other celebrities who have been propagating the gospel of the PVC, she took to her IG page to share a photo of hers and it can be seen clearly that she’s 26.
Upon seeing her age, some of her fans were shocked as they feel that she looks a bit old to be that age, some felt she’s in her late thirties – they stormed her comment section to air their feelings.
In reaction to their reactions, the actress took to her page to slam those who are doubting that she’s actually 26 – she says they’re just pained that she’s young and getting it…
As some Youth corps members had their passing our parade earlier this week, there’s been lots of raving about the development on social media, with many of these corps members elated to have achieved this feat after a full year.
Joelson Ughwuba on Facebook, took to his page to share these lovely pics with his aged mum in the studio and wrote an impressive poem for her.
Sharing the photos, he wrote,
When life’s uneasy & sometimes CLUMSY

Even when dad said an unexpected GOODBYE
They thought the things I need, I wouldn’t BUY
But everything I need that are all ESSENTIAL
Mum provided for me, by being QUINTESSENTIAL
She gave me Luv that took me up like a PROJECTILE
Unlike the slow millipede walk on a marble TILE
Mum I promise to be productive like a reservoir ROCK
So I can make you, an owner of an oil BLOCK
Ur prayers & moral advice took me to where I AM
Cos we serve a God who is the GREAT I AM
Whom in times of trouble, have served as my BOP
Back in my days in school and down to the day my POP
MUM I wanna say thank You for being there for Me
This is coming from Ur son, Mr. Joelson and that’s ME.
Luv u so much MUM
FINALLY I MADE IT
EX KOFA

Taking selfies, street preaching and hawking food will cost you more under new taxes proposed by different counties in Kenya.
In Siaya County, street preachers will pay KSh20,000 ($198) upfront per day to use lawns maintained by the county government if the Finance Bill 2018 is approved, reports Ugbliz .
For a region popular for its local musicians fond of performing with live bands, an entertainment permit of KSh1,000 per night will be required. According to Finance Executive Mary Kimanzi, local operators of film/video shows will pay KSh1,500 per day.
In Nairobi, supermarkets and shopping malls will surrender a share of proceeds from private car parks and sale of packaging bags to shoppers as the county looks for new revenue streams to finance Sh32 billion budget.
Private car parks which have become a common business for open spaces within the city are also targeted. “It is unfair that shoppers pay for bags even after spending heftily. I will also be proposing a fee for private parking firms that charge their customers hourly parking rates,” said acting Finance Executive Charles Kerich.
Faced with complaints about heaps of garbage, the county wants residents to pay for disposal of waste. Property owners will also be slapped with higher land rates with a valuation of properties expected soon.
What do you think will happen in our dear Nigeria if this kind of law is introduced ?
Veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie took to Instagram to explain why all men must respect women and motherhood.
According to her, the scars and stretch marks on women’s stomach, symbolizes the pain, love, and life that comes with motherhood.
She wrote: ‘RESPECT MOTHERHOOD, RESPECT WOMEN
The scars and stretch marks on your wife’s stomach, symbolizes the pain that comes with motherhood, it symbolizes love and life.
Remember how beautiful she was when she was your newly wedded wife, she is still the same woman you fell in love with!
The difference now is, she has given you children, she has given you life, she has blessed you with a family..Don’t ignore your woman. Husband? Don’t make her go through anymore pains, pls don’t hit her, don’t nag, don’t insult her.

Premium Times, in an exclusive report published on Saturday has said that minister of finance Kemi Adeosun obtained a “fake” National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate.
The NYSC scheme is compulsory for all Nigerians who graduate from universities or equivalent institutions at less than 30 years of age. According to the NYSC law, you cannot secure a job in Nigeria without your NYSC certificate.
If you are eligible to undergo the mandatory service but skip it, you are liable to 12 months imprisonment and/or N2,000 fine, Section 13 of the NYSC law says.
The law also prescribes three-year jail term or option of N5,000 fine for anyone who contravenes provision of the law, including giving false information or illegally obtaining the agency’s certificate.
According to the NYSC law, you can only obtain an exemption certificate if:
You graduated before 30 You hold a national honour You have served in the armed forces or police for up to nine months You are a staff of an intelligence agency or armed forces
Premium Times’ report states that Adeosun worked in Nigeria for seven years (from 2002 to 2009) before obtaining a “certificate of exemption” which the paper has “authoritatively” reported as fake.
“The NYSC does not issue exemption certificate to anyone who, like the minister, graduates before turning 30,” Premium Times, quoting “top officials of the scheme familiar with the matter” said.
According to Premium Times, Adeosun’s certificate was purportedly signed by former NYSC DG Yusuf Bomoi and issued in September 2009. However, Bomoi, who passed in 2017, stepped down from his position in January 2009.
Adeosun has served as commissioner for finance in Ogun state (2011 – 2015) and was appointed minister of finance by President Muhammadu Buhari government following confirmation from the senate and security checks by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Premium Times states that “top officials” of the scheme have described the certificate as fake.
“This one is an Oluwole certificate. We did not issue it and we could not have issued it,” Premium Times quoted an official as saying. Oluwole is a location in Lagos known for document forgery.
Premium Times quoted another official as saying: “This is not the size of our exemption certificate. The calligraphy is also different.”
Premium Times said that the DSS failed to discover that the certificate is “fake” but the senate did and kept mum. The paper said:
The Senate, which received the fake certificate as part of the documents Mrs Adeosun submitted for her confirmation hearing, detected the discrepancy, PREMIUM TIMES understands.
But it nonetheless proceeded to clear her for the top office. Those familiar with the matter said the leadership of the National Assembly used that information to blackmail and extort Mrs Adeosun for years.
According to Premium Times, “a National Assembly cartel” used the “fake” certificate scandal “to coerce the finance minister to keep releasing funds to the lawmaking arm.
Davido wore a red tee-shirt with the words ‘Long Live Olu’ inscribed on the back.
Meanwhile, Organizers of the Wireless Festival, ahead of Davido’s performance, eulogized the Nigerian singer.
“Not many artists can claim iconic status within just five years of starting out. But the Atlanta-born Nigerian singer/songwriter, producer and label owner – who returned home to Lagos, forsaking previously unsuccessful college pursuits in Alabama to chase his music dreams – has earned the right.”

It’s crystal clear that she took not only her mother’s skin complexion but also her beauty and we’re certainly loving the mummy-daughter bond we’re seeing here.
Recently, her colleague, CeeC hit the 700k followers mark on Instagram, after Alex, Tobi and Miracle already hit theirs – Nina was one of the first housemates to react to the development and it seems she was shading other housemates who have already reached 700k followers with her comment.
She commented saying;
“It’s only your 700k followers i’m seeing B others are counterfeit”

A 25-year old Ugandan student has been handed a two year prison sentence for confessing his “too much love” for Kabalore Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Sylvia Rwabwoogo.
Brian Isiko, a student at YMCA Jinja Branch was convicted on his own plea of guilty to counts of cyber harassment and offensive communication.
He confessed that the calls and text messages professing obsessed love to the MP he had never physically seen, were from him.

Tears rolled down Ms Rwabwoogo’s cheeks as she told court that she started receiving calls admitting love from a stranger. She said that it all started around November 2017, which made her think that someone was intending to harm her. Kabalore Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Sylvia Rwabwoogo. PHOTO BY ALEX ESAGALA
She thought the calls and text messages were a trap her tormentors had set. She said: “One of his texts that provoked my fears read: “I love you so much and want to protect you. .
My love is for you alone and since there is no one taking care of you, I will do it. I have realised that you are in deep trouble.”
Ms Rwabwoogo said she received many calls and over 10 messages adding that at one time, her stalker texted asserting that he had failed to sleep at night because he was thinking about her.
The MP said she set up an appointment to meet the stalker, on June 11, 2018, after the Police assigned her a guard. Moments later, her guard arrested him.
Rwabwoogo added that what still puzzles her is that even when Isiko was in police custody she continued receiving love text messages from his phone. She said this has caused her to suffer psychological torture.
In her verdict, the judge, Kamasanyu, said society has groomed men to always demean and disrespect women and that is why Isiko continued to bother Rwabwogo even after blocking his calls.

Nigerian record producer, singer/songwriter, and Music Mogul, Michael Collins Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy, has taken to his social media page to ask a very puzzling question which shook tables in the process. Don Jazzy.
The Mavins record label boss took a jab at Nigerians with a single tweet and the post appears to have broken the internet as social media users take a stand to admit/defend themselves.
Don Jazzy Wrote ;
“Guess the name of the country where people pretend to hate the things they actually like, and pretend to care about the things they really don’t give a f*ck about.”
Health is wealth, they say because it is when one is healthy only then can one strive to ‘hustle’ to make ends meet.
This is why in most countries or states, Standard health care facilities are top priority when it comes to providing social amenities.
However, this might not be the case of the residents living at Ohaji/Egbema area of Imo state as recent photos show their health centre are in a deplorable state and they suffer from gross neglect.

Olisa Metuh, a former spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, took to the dock on July 6, 2018 as he continued with his defence in the ongoing N400 million fraud trial before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
At the proceeding, Metuh attempted to enter the dock in preparation to being led in evidence by his counsel, Onyeachi Ikpeazu, SAN, but was stopped by the judge, who ordered him to testify from where he was seated in the courtroom.
Under examination, Metuh briefly told the court about himself saying “my name is Olisa Metuh. I live in Prince and Princess Estate. I am a legal practitioner, a business executive, politician and real estate developer”.
The matter was thereafter adjourned to October 22, 2018. .
After the matter was adjourned, Ikpeazu made an oral application to the court, seeking the leave of the court to allow Metuh travel to the United Kingdom for his daughter’s graduation, but Justice Abang reminded him that “this is a court of record”.
“There is no formal application before me. There should have been one, attached with an affidavit and served to the prosecution before the court will hear both sides and use its discretion,” the trial judge held.
Seyi Shay made a major move on her career in the Nigerian entertainment industry when she successfully landed a lead role in Biola Alabi’s yet to be released movie ‘Lara and the Beat’,
When the news came to limelight, there were Speculations that putting her music-making craft on hold for acting may come at a price.
However, in a chat with Showtime, Seyi Shay confirmed that venturing into Nollywood came with a huge price.
The singer said ;
“I had to leave my own work, my singing career for a month or two because the hours on set were very long so I couldn’t get to the studio to record my own song. I couldn’t do shows when I wanted to and I lost some money but I also made a great movie, so I’m happy”.
She confessed that though while on set filming, she nursed fears that the time she was spending out of music may have negative effects on her craft but was later grateful for her decision because it finally paid off on her brand.
“I was worried that time spent out of the music scene would work against me but thankfully it didn’t. Because this movie has added to my profile and my brand and you know by the time the movie comes out it will increase my popularity so it’s just refreshing to have something new added to my résumé”, she said. S
She added that though her first experience was exhausting; she would probably take up more movie roles if they come her way.
“I will probably take up more movie roles. At first I said I would never act again because it’s so long and tiring. You know as a musician, a video for a song takes like 6 to 8 hours, so I was so exhausted but at the end I was thoroughly pleased with myself. So yes, I would do it again probably with the same production”, she concluded.
A 20-year-old Bristol University student identified as Omojola Ogundipe, took her own life in a Cardiff hotel room, just days after a visit home for Mother’s Day. Staff at the Citrus Hotel in Cardiff found her body hanging in her hotel room after she missed her check-out deadline.
The Late Omojola, described as “bright and bubbly”, was in the second year of her economics undergraduate degree at Bristol University, and was a leading member of the Gospel Choir Society.
A campaigner on environmental and human rights issues, she volunteered with several groups and was popular among her peers. An inquest into her death heard her dad tell Pontypridd Coroner’s Court his daughter had visited home just three days before they heard the tragic news.
During the court hearing on July 5, her dad, Kurle Ogundipe, said in a statement: “I last saw Omojola on March 11 when she returned home for the weekend. She appeared her usual bubbly self.”
He said the family were not aware of any ill health and did not think she suffered from depression or mental health problems.
However, Miss Ogundipe’s close friend, Hannah Agbeyegbe, in a written statement read out to the court, said: “She was an independent person. Quite private.
She didn’t really talk a lot about her personal life. It was around this time (when she moved to Bristol) that she disclosed to me that she was depressed and she had been having suicidal thoughts.” Summing up, coroner Christopher Woolley accepted the cause of death given by consultant pathologist Dr David Thomas at the University Hospital of Wales as death by hanging.

Comedia Seyi Law has opened up on his growing up as well as celebrity marriages crashing.
Speaking with Saturday Beats, Seyi said;
“The truth of the matter is that we get to see celebrity break-ups because they are always in the limelight. We have celebrities that have stayed together in marriages but people hardly talk about them. They like talking about the bad ones.”
“Celebrity marriage break-up is like plane crashes. We hardly talk about flights that took off safely and landed safely. So, break-ups happen everywhere in all professions; but people don’t talk about them because they are not in the limelight.”
“Marriage institution is sweet and tedious at the same time, we just keep hoping that we’ll keep understanding one another,” he said.
On how lucrative comedy, he said;
“A lot of people know that comedy is lucrative. If you see how far I’ve come, then you’ll know how lucrative the profession is. This is basically the business I do. I got married out of it. I am able to take good care of my family. So, I will say it’s quite good.”

Professor Grace Otinwa is a professor of Exercise Physiology and the immediate past Head of Department, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos. In a chat with Ademola Olonilua and Toluwalope Kareem, she talks about life within and outside the four walls of the university
How did you start your career?
I have been teaching for the past 27 years. I started from the Lagos State College of Education, (now Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education), Ijanikin before I moved to the University of Lagos where I have spent two decades. I started my career as a Lecturer Two and rose through the ranks to become a professor. I have served the university in various capacities; as a lecturer, head of department, housemistress and also I have been on the board of some committees in the university. I am a member of the Senate in the university. I am also the regional vice president of the International Council of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance. At the international level, I am referred to as the regional vice president even though I am more like the African president.
Why did you choose human kinetics?
Initially, I didn’t choose human kinetics and health education; it was called physical education then. But one of my brothers who took interest in me felt that I was going to do well in physical education. I wanted to study Christian Religious Studies, but as God would have it, I was offered admission into the College of Education which was affiliated to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. As time went on, I picked interest in the course and I was quite resolute and determined to excel and God granted me the grace, and I was able to do well. Upon the conclusion of my NCE, I decided to do my degree programme at the main campus of Ahmadu Bello University for two years before I attended the University of Ibadan for my Masters and PhD.
Have you always wanted to be a teacher in life?
I had expressed love to teach at the tertiary level. I remember when we were employed by the Oyo State government to teach in secondary schools, I turned it down because I was determined to teach at the tertiary level. But having said that, my first teaching experience was at a primary school in Bauchi State, I taught there when I completed my post-primary education at the Teachers’ Training College. Also, during my National Youth Service Corps year, I was posted to teach at the Nigerian Army School, Jos. So, I had taught before I bagged a job at the tertiary level and that has given me a balance in my career.
How would you describe your experience the first time you taught in a lecture room?
It was fun and exciting because I was young, vibrant, and single at that time. I had all it took to prepare myself to go into the lecture room and deliver lectures to my students. I was so confident of myself, I wasn’t naive and this made me to be able to interact with the students.
Do you do any other side jobs apart from lecturing?
I do not have any side job because the kind of work I do doesn’t allow me to do any side job. In this profession, we have three folds of assignment; teaching, research and community projects. So for me, the only thing I do apart from teaching is to write books. Of course, you cannot be promoted without conducting research and publication of your research reports. And also community projects, I serve on the board of different schools. I am really too preoccupied to have a side job.
Is your husband a professor?
No, he isn’t, he is a civil engineer.
So how does he feel with you being a professor?
My husband and I have come a long way in our relationship, and I can tell you that he is a wonderful husband. We met at our school fellowship at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Till today, I do not know how he spotted me but his friend assisted him in approaching me. When we started talking, he was a bit reserved towards me because I resided in Lagos but with time, he saw that I was different from the typical Lagos girls. I had to pray about our relationship for a while and I did not accept his advances until I was convinced that it was ordained by God. I would say that God just made our path to be loving and peaceful and till date, I am still amazed at the way my husband professes his love for me. We still love ourselves like teenagers. We go out very often for dinner and lunch dates with or without our children. One thing I have discovered from the Bible is that as women, we need to submit to our husbands. When we started, it was not easy but I realised that he really loves me and that made our marriage easy. I do not find it difficult to go on my two knees to greet my husband even though I am a professor. It has nothing to do with being a professor but about my character as a person.
He is really supportive, he is not jealous of my progress; rather he encourages me to do more so that I can reach higher height in my career. He also picks interest in domestic chores, so when I am busy, he is there to assist me. Since my profession involves travelling for some time, he understands that it is part of my job. Some of my friends call him HOP which means head or husband of professor, so they also call him professor.
I give my husband the respect that he deserves. He believes in me and trusts with everything, including our finances. He reciprocates the respect I give him with deep understanding and career support. I would tell you it is not easy to be a professor. It takes a lot of work.
So it doesn’t feel awkward to relate with your husband who is not a professor?
I do not find it difficult to go on my knees to greet my husband, because he is worth it. I count myself lucky and blessed to have an understanding man like him. I respect him so much and he equally reciprocates. My husband is my head and I don’t deny it, I have been totally submissive to him. He has been a pillar of support when it was rough and when it was good.
There is a general belief that women choose to be in the education field so they can cater for the family; was this the case with you?
My choice of study was triggered by my brother. Becoming a professor wasn’t an easy task because I had a family to cater for but with God, I was able to strike a balance in all aspects of my life which includes my occupation and family. With the help of my husband, we have been able to raise our kids properly. I am very conscious of time management and that is why I have my to-do list which is daily, monthly and yearly which I usually pen down.
How would you describe your family?
We are a very close knit family. I enjoy being with my family. I must spend time with my family in the morning before leaving for work and late in the evening; we go out on dates and hang out to have fun. We always inform ourselves about our daily activities. I do not have a social club, so my family is my social club. We share a really close bond.
Are you a fashionable person?
Honestly, there was a point in my career when I found it difficult to socialise. However, I still find time to socialise; I attend social events especially weddings, and if there are funerals or any other event, I also attend. I am not a big fan of applying make-up on my face and my definition of make-up is to do my hair and rub white powder on my face, not this generation’s definition of make-up. It is too late for me to start applying make-up on my face and this is a choice that I have made. Even if I want to do it, I would look too strange and different. There was an occasion whereby my children called a make-up artist for me and when I saw myself in the mirror, I saw a different person and as soon as I saw my husband, he said, ‘this is not you.’ I went to wipe everything off. It gave me a facelift that made me feel as if I had betrayed myself. I don’t condemn those who do make-up because as a Christian, it is not a sin. I just believe that it is not a part of me probably because I did not grow up with it. Also, because of my time management skill, I consider it a waste of time. I cannot invest an hour in painting my face. I know some friends and family members that spend as much as two hours applying make-up on their face. I cannot imagine myself committing 30 minutes to apply make-up on my face alone. I can spend that time learning the word of God or do something more valuable. I do a lot of exercises and I consider it more important than make-up. I am not saying that applying make-up is bad but it is temporary while exercises leave a permanent impression on the body.
What were some of the challenges you faced with co-workers while you were the head of department, especially being a woman?
Being a professor is a leadership position where you are saddled with the responsibility of mentoring younger academics. There are challenges you will face especially being a woman, there are interpersonal challenges that occur on a daily basis, people would envy you. But I have been able to overcome them by the word of God, and I have been able to manage the excesses of people. I just try and accommodate and help them to mature to the point of understanding when they display all manner of jealousy and falsehood.
What do you have to say about the issue of sexual harassment, especially on the recent sex for mark case in OAU, Ife?
I was a victim of sexual harassment as a student at my NCE level, sadly, I least expected it from the lecturer. I don’t know how God gave me the boldness to deal with him because he was so ashamed of himself. Sexual harassment is as old as man, it has been in existence and I don’t think it has stopped, but what happened in Ife would teach many people that they will learn their lesson the hard way. However, our young ladies should not also expose themselves and be a sneer for men, by their style of dressing, poor attendance in lectures and their mannerism.
If not teaching, what other jobs would you have opted for?
I have worked for over 20 years and I am passionate about teaching. I believe that God has deposited so much in me to offer this generation. Maybe as one grows older, I may think of a change in career, but not right now. I am enjoying my teaching career, even though it has its challenges like sleepless nights, reading publications, doing researches, etc. At a point in time, the thought of relocating to another country came to me but for now, that is not possible, maybe later.
Can you remember the first time you introduced your husband to your family?
I was scared. The fear of what they would say was constantly ringing in my head. I came from a well-disciplined home and I am the last child. At a point, I moved in with my elder brother because they felt my parents over pampered me and they didn’t want that to continue. I shared my plans for marriage with my brothers, then I was put on the hot seat. We had a question and answer session before they agreed to meet with my husband. I took my husband home to introduce him to the family and also he did the same to me.
While you were in school, were you a bookworm or you had a social life as well?
I would say I had two lifestyles; I was committed to my studies and my faith. For me, once I am committed, I don’t easily get distracted and because I had a target of becoming the best, it was more of reading, lectures and attending church services. I didn’t socialise at all. I am not the outgoing type of person. I prefer to be indoors while working behind the scene.
What is the hardest thing about being a lecturer?
The hardest thing is the act of conducting research and publications, maybe meeting up with deadlines.
What do you do in your free time?
I actually do not have a free time, except that I love to do my exercise, singing, reading books, praying as my hobbies.
