Nigerian Law School approves use of Hijab during Call-to-bar ceremonies

Nigerian Law School approves

The Nigerian Law School has now approved the use of hijabs during the call-to-bar ceremonies and has also invited Amasa Firdaus Abdulsalam to attend the ceremony this July.

Recall there was a controversy late last year when Nigerian Law School graduate, Amasa Firdaus was denied her call-to-bar for refusing to take off her hijab headscarf.

According to Twitter user @za_icon, The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) released a statement giving updates on the on-going court case with the institution fighting for the rights of Muslim students.

In 2017, The Nigerian Law School said that Amasa was breaking the dress code set by the university by putting on a hijab, hence prohibited her from the ceremony but she insisted on wearing the wig on top of her hijab.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were pictured today during an intense training, ahead of their Group D encounter at the Volgograd Arena, at 4pm today.

A win for Nigeria will see the squad leapfrog both Iceland and Argentina to the second position with three points, and if the Super Eagles are also able to win their last clash against the Argentine squad they will advance to the next stage comfortably.

Nollywood actress, Wunmi Toriola has tendered a public apology to her colleagues in the industry, Mercy Aigbe and Toyin Abraham over comments she made recently.

She had taken to social media to blast Toyin Abraham stating that she faked her engagement which was all over the news weeks ago.

She also accused Mercy Aigbe of breaking her home.

Realizing that she allowed her emotions to get the best of her, Wumi Toriola took to social media to tender her apology tot he actress.

She wrote:

I am a product of Public applaud and would not at this stage ignore the concerns of the people who have watched me grow in my chosen career.

I sincerely apologise to Toyin Abraham @toyin_abraham for allowing my emotions take over me and for uttering such uncensored statements to her.I put a call through to her and we settled it.

Some football fans are saying that Lionel Messi just might have predicted his country’s defeat after showing signs of serious stress ahead of Argentina’s World Cup clash with Croatia.

BBC cameras filmed the Argentina team as the country’s national anthem was played to the crowd ahead of the group game – many of the players looked into the distance, focused on the job at hand, but Messi appeared to be suffering with a headache.

He rubbed his forehead vigorously as the camera lingered on him with a look of concern etched on his face. The soccer icon has been down in the dumps ever since his penalty miss in Argentina’s 1-1 draw with Iceland in their opening World Cup group game.

Meanwhile, Messi has been urged to retire from international duty with Argentina for the second time after his team’s dismal showing against Croatia.

The Barcelona superstar was totally anonymous as once again the blue and white stripes failed to impress on the big stage.

Goals from Ante Rebic, Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic sealed a deserved 3-0 win for Croatia, leaving Argentina needing a minor miracle to get through the group stages.

“Killers of missing OOU students are not SARS officers” – ACP Abayomi Shogunle, warns parents to advise their daughters to stop dating Yahoo boys.

ACP, Abayomi Shogunle, has reacted to the claims made by a twitter user that Juliana, the young OOU student and her boyfriend who were found dead on Wednesday June 20th, were killed by SARS officers.

Juliana and her boyfriend were missing for weeks after going out on a date – the boyfriend’s car was found with just her slippers inside. After weeks of searching and investigation, their decomposing bodies were found inside a bush.

The boyfriend was a 300-Level Computer Science student of OOU while the girl was a Diploma student of the same institution.

Twitter user, @pamelasuccess claimed on her twitter handle that SARS officers were behind the killing of the young girl and her boyfriend.

She has since deleted her tweet.

ACP Shogunle reacted to the claim and announced that the killers of the young lovers have been arrested and are not SARS officers.

According to him, the motive for the killing was as a result of a business deal that went wrong and he warned parents to advise their daughters to stop dating Yahoo boys.

The one-year-old marriage between Olujonwo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Temitope, daughter of Lotto boss, Chief Kessington Adebutu aka Baba Ijebu, is currently in crisis as the husband has dragged the wife to court over threat to his life.

According to some documents, trouble started few days after their wedding in May, 2017, when Olujonwo noticed that Temitope was acting strange.

According to one of the documents, when he approached her to find out what was happening, he received two slaps and the wife became even more aggressive, later that day.

Olujonwo’s mom had, in February, 2018, raised alarm that her son had left their matrimonial home and had gone into hiding over the way his wife was treating him, an allegation that Olajuwon debunked, but the mom insisted that it was true and that his son was being manipulated.

Having had enough, now Olujonwo has officially written the Ogun State Judicial Service Commission, to detail his ordeal and has also dragged Temitope before a Lagos State Magistrates Court. The court summons were recently pasted at the entrance of her house.

Iceland coach, Heimir Hallgrimsson announced on Thursday that his players are permitted to have sex ahead of their game against Nigeria, as long as it’s with their wives.

Iceland’s players were due to be reunited with their families on Thursday in Volgograd where they face Nigeria on Friday in Group D.

President Buhari breaks down in tears over Azare market fire in Bauchi

President Buhari was moved to tears by the devastation caused by the fire incident that gutted no fewer than 750 shops in the central market in Azare, Bauchi state.

The President, who is currently on a visit to the state said he was in Azare to see things for himself and assess the damages suffered by traders in the area.

Buhari said:

“I am here to personally sympathise with traders in Azare in the aftermath of the unfortunate fire incident in the market last week,”

Muhammadu Buhari noted that the fire incident was a natural disaster, and expressed federal government’s sympathy for the victims.

He assured that the federal government will critically look into the matter through NEMA with a view to assisting the victims. Buhari added;

“Federal Government is committed to economic development and the market fire disaster is a great setback to our genuine commitment to economic recovery.”

Buhari had visited the scene of the fire disaster to personally ascertain the level of damages done to the market.

Speaking earlier, Governor Abubakar and Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Faruk respectively described President Buhari’s visit as timely.

According to them, the president’s visit demonstrates his concern to citizenry of the state especially victims of fire disaster in Azare market. The Emir said;

“We crave the indulgence of President Buhari to redouble federal government’s efforts to get rid of criminals along Azare -Potiskum road as activities of armed robbers is now a serious concern.”

The Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy that Arnold Schwarzenegger (T-800) drove in Terminator 2: Judgment Day has been sold at auction For N181m ($500k).

The auction house was hoping to sell it between $200k and $300k for the fully functional bike.The 1991 bike has missing side mirrors and 392 miles on its odometer.

After stealing the Harley-Davidson from the owner in the movie , T-800 used the bike to rescue John Connor from the menacing shape-shifting android assassin called T-1000.

The bullet-riddled jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s in the film was also sold at the same auction for N8.7m($24,000).

The 49hp 1991 Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy has an air-cooled,4-stroke V-Twin engine and a top speed of 148.0 km/h (92.0 mph).
