Shirley Kordie, 33, has hypoplastic MDS and will leave her son, Blessing, four, without a mother if she is not treated soon.
Her brother Joseph, who lives in Ghana, is a “perfect” stem cell match but his visa application was denied due to his “financial circumstances”. The Home Office said it was “urgently reviewing” the case.
Ms Kordie said: “My life is in danger – I need to get my life back for my son. “I have my little boy, and I want to live for him.”
The Anthony Nolan Trust and the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) have launched a campaign to support Ms Kordie, who has been receiving treatment at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The Anthony Nolan Trust said the reason Joseph had been refused a visa is because “he doesn’t earn enough money”. A petition urging the government to reverse its decision had amassed about 10,000 signatures in 36 hours.
Joseph, a nurse himself, is unable to make the donation in Ghana, so coming to the UK is his only option, said the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Spokeswoman Amelia Chong said there were no alternative options for a donor on the international stem cell register.
“Her brother is a perfect, 10 out of 10 match for her,” she said. “We have reviewed all those on the donor list and he is not only the perfect match, he is the only match.
“All Joseph needs is a temporary visa to undergo the procedure.”
Today marks the beginning of a beautiful campaign in Russia. Surprisingly, it came against Iceland. A team I dread too much after they flung ice that landed on Messi’s head.
Musa came to the party ready. He generously came with extra Suya. Firing home a cross that would have easily eluded him if he wasn’t precise.
The bar where I was erupted in unity. I saw Biafra agitators celebrating with a country they want to run from.
See what success does? It washes off the scale of many things.
The second goal came after Musa elbowed his way into the box of the Icelanders and made sure that their goal keeper chased his shadows.
The second goal came minutes after the commentators said “None of the sides have a star”
That goal made them chew their words like starved hyenas.
Everything was good minus the betrayal of not giving Russians a shaku vibe. Oya, let them forget Russians.
We at home needed something we could connect with but they didn’t do this for us. I guess the goals were enough to start a mental shaku in our minds.
Fans all over Nigeria are rejoicing o the fact that the Super Eagles of Nigeria won their game against Iceland today, all thanks to Ahmed Musa who scored 2 beautiful goals!

Taking to his twitter page the Mavin Record Boss wrote: “We did thissss. If I catch any geh this night. Na belle straight. ?♀️?♀️?♀️?♀️ #Worldcup”

American reality star, Kim Kardashian West has spoken out against critics who judged her for rocking Fulani braids for an awards show.
The 37-year-old entrepreneur was slammed over her thin corn rows after experiencing an immense about of backlash earlier this year for a similar style after calling them Bo ‘Bo Derek’ braids.
In an interview with Bustle, Kim revealed her decision to wear the braids was because her eldest daughter, North West, wanted matching hairstyles.
‘I actually did that look because North said she wanted braids and asked if I would do them with her. So we braided her hair and then we braided my hair,’ Kim explained to the news site.
I obviously know they’re called fulani braids and I know the origin of where they came from and I’m totally respectful of that,’ she said. ‘I’m not tone deaf to where I don’t get it. I do get it.’
After people complained, Kim said she should’ve explained her meaning before posting the Snapchat.
‘But in no way am I ever trying to disrespect anyone’s culture by wearing braids,’ Kim said. ‘If anything, my daughter was so excited to see me get matching braids with her.’

Movie Director and Actor, Francis Atuma, has earned the ire of Nollywood actors after he said in an interview that “you can’t make it in Nollywood if you’re not a prostitute or homosexual.”
Actress Ruth Kadiri has replied the Director and warned him to quit generalizing.
She stated clearly that she’s not a prostitute, adding that she and a lot of other actors work extremely hard to earn their keep.
She wrote:
“A lot of us work too hard to be placed into a general category and insulted by a practitioner Mr Pascal I am not a prostitute. I do not sleep with men for money or lifestyle…
“I feel offended. I am an ACTRESS and a PRODUCER I am successful and I am not a prostitute. SIR.
“If u have nothing to say pls don’t grant interviews… slamming us all and generalizing based on the lifestyle of few is very wrong. pascalatuma. @bolaaduwo@thecablelifestyle“
Read in full what the Nollywood Film-maker said here.
Pascal Atuma, an actor and movie director, says one has to be “a prostitute or semi-prostitute” to be successful in the Nigerian movie industry.
Atuma said Nollywood is “controlled by pimps” and that upcoming actors and filmmakers should not be deceived by the glamorous lifestyles they see from the outside.
“If you are not a full time or semi-prostitute, you will not make it in Nollywood,” Atuma told TheCable Lifestyle.
“Our ladies are using what they have to get what they want. Even some of the guys who can use their a** are the ones making it in Nollywood.
“I am being very real here and they make it look as if they are doing well but they are not, they are suffering.
“Let’s stop deceiving the younger ones by keeping it real. We have to let the younger ones know how it is and what it is.”
The director of ‘My American Nurse’ dared anyone to challenge him on his comment, saying he’s ready to debate a contrary opinion.
He said: “Pascal Atuma is my name and I am saying it the way it is and that’s the truth.
“If you want to challenge me on this, please come and do it on any national television in Nigeria or anywhere. I am even ready to pay for the challenge.
“The biggest boys in the industry know that I am saying the truth. I am saying the truth and there’s nothing anyone of them can do to affect my career, they can’t employ me.”
Apart from being an actor and director, Atuma is also a screenwriter and comedian.
As a director, he has helmed productions such as ‘Who Is the Man?’ and ‘Okoto the Messenger’.
He has starred in ‘Through the Glass’, ‘The Other Side of Love’, ‘Faithfulness’ and ‘Secret Past’.
Nigeria vs Iceland game is set to kick off today, and the Super Eagles are in a dire situation, needing an outright win over Iceland to get their World Cup campaign back on track after a rather disappointing start against Croatia last weekend.
Though it is usually said that no two games are the same, the Super Eagles will need to change a lot about how they played against Croatia if they are to get any favourable result against their Scandinavian opponents.
Here are five suggestions that can help the Super Eagles soar past Iceland in Friday’s Group D game in Volgograd.
Alex Iwobi for No.10 role
Though Iwobi was given a starter’s shirt against Croatia, being played on the wings was a great disservice for the player and the Super Eagles as a whole.
There is no gainsaying that Iwobi is arguably the most creative player in the present Super Eagles set-up and his goals return in recent games are equally impressive.
It would be a step in the right direction if the Arsenal man is given the No.10 position against Iceland.
A man who should know and a former No.10 for Nigeria, Austin Okocha said after the Croatia game: “The most creative player in that team is Alex Iwobi but he was played on the flanks. He (Iwobi) can play on the flanks at Arsenal because they had better players in that role like Mesut Ozil.
“The reason why we lost was because we played our best players out of their positions.
“Playing Mikel in that position didn’t help Moses and Iwobi on the flanks.”
Ebuehi to replace Shehu Abdullahi
Tryone Ebuehi is more offensive minded and not in any way lacking his primary defensive duties. The new Benfica signing showed what he can do when he was given the nod in the right side of defense during the test games; especially against Argentina and England. Tactically he is sound and can get in the crosses that should create chances for the Eagles up front
Super Eagles must show more urgency
One of the most noticeable flaws in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 loss to Croatia was their inexplicable lack of urgency. The team did not show enough desire to win the game and it reflected in their overall performance.
Despite being behind and looking for goals, they kept passing the ball backwards and did not threaten the Croatia defense, having a paltry two shots on targets.
Against Iceland, the hunger and precision must be visible or else, the Eagles may be bidding Russia farewell earlier than many imagined.
Better defending of set pieces
The Iceland XI that started against Argentina had an average height of 6 ft 0 in (1.84m). Super Eagles need no further warning that they have to curtail their opponents well when we are defending set pieces.
Set pieces have proven to be the scourge of Nigeria at the World Cup, conceding 52% of their goals at the tournament via that means since their debut in 1994, which is a higher ratio than any other nation in that timeframe.
Feelers from the Super Eagles training sessions in the build-up to the Iceland game suggest the handlers are working hard on this perceived weakness…
Rohr must show he has the balls
Gernot Rohr must not hesitate to bring in quality replacements on time if for any reason his starters fail him.
Late substitutions when very little can be salvage could be detrimental if the Super Eagles are to get all three points against Iceland.
Nigeria vs Iceland Time
What time is the Nigeria vs Iceland Match?
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be playing Iceland by 4:00 PM (WAT) on the 22nd of June 2018. See Pictures from their Training Session here.
Little has been heard about the Warri, Delta State-born singer, Okiemute Ighorodje, since emerging winner of the MTN Project Fame season nine.
The singer has however come out to say she could become a baby mama, but only to someone she was engaged to.
According to her, there are two categories of baby mamas, adding that she could only be found in the category that could lead to marriage.
She said:
“There are different types of baby mamas. Some women would give birth to a child for a man who isn’t in a relationship with them, while some give birth to a child for a man who is in a serious relationship that could lead to marriage.
“She could be engaged to him; so definitely she would be called a baby mama since she already has a child outside wedlock. However, if she gets married to the man, she will no longer be called a baby mama. This is why there are different sides to being a baby mama. While engaged, mistakes could happen and you won’t expect the woman to leave especially when she knows the man is willing to take responsibility for them.”
Explaining how she got the inspiration for her latest song, “African Wonder”, the singer said, “It is an African vibe. I am a tough lover and I love to love. My religion is love, so I thought of how I could fuse Africa and love. So, my latest single wasn’t influenced by a man because the male gender generally seems intimidated by beautiful women.”
According to her, men get scared of beautiful women, making reference to her beauty as being the reason men do not become overzealous but respect themselves around her.
She stated that she had not really had any awkward moment with a male fan aside from rare encounters of some going overboard by grabbing her inappropriately but her manager handled such awkward moments.
On how she spent the N5m cash she won at Project Fame, she said she could not reveal this, only adding that it was used for important things in her life.
After the anti-begging campaign launched on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, Dubai Police said they arrested an Asian man in his sixties, who was found begging in Al Quoz area after the Dhur (midday) prayer.
It was gathered the Police officers only found Dh25 at first, but upon further inspection, officials found that Dh45,000 in cash and bank notes of various currencies were concealed in his artificial leg. In total, the beggar was found with the possession of Dh100,000 (equivalent to $27,225) in cash, according to Sky News Arabia.
The beggar was also found to have entered the country during the holy month of Ramadan on a visit visa. The police have notified the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs about the company that had issued the visa to him, so that legal action can be taken against it.
Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police for criminal investigation, said the Asian was among the 243 beggars rounded up as part of the police’s anti-begging campaign, of which 107 were women. Out of the arrested beggars, 195 came on visit visas, while the rest had valid residency visas.
This isn’t the only time a beggar have been found with so much cash. Few months ago, a disabled beggar was found to have carrier bags full of cash and nearly $1.5 million secretly stashed in the bank.
Cops made the shocking discovery when they arrived to investigate the death of Fatima Othman, 52, in Beirut, Lebanon. Officers found two plastic carrier bags stuffed with bank notes worth the equivalent of $4389.
But they were even more surprised when they found a deposit book for a local bank. When they looked inside they realised it contained a further $1,491,866 in savings. Police spokesman Joseph Musallem said there was nothing suspicious about the death and that Ms Othman had simply died of a heart attack.

The Nigerian Law School has now approved the use of hijabs during the call-to-bar ceremonies and has also invited Amasa Firdaus Abdulsalam to attend the ceremony this July.
Recall there was a controversy late last year when Nigerian Law School graduate, Amasa Firdaus was denied her call-to-bar for refusing to take off her hijab headscarf.
According to Twitter user @za_icon, The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) released a statement giving updates on the on-going court case with the institution fighting for the rights of Muslim students.
In 2017, The Nigerian Law School said that Amasa was breaking the dress code set by the university by putting on a hijab, hence prohibited her from the ceremony but she insisted on wearing the wig on top of her hijab.

Nollywood Actress Ronke Oshodi Oke has berated her colleagues who are in the constant wont of taking to social media to show off, anytime they buy a car (neatly used or brand new) or a house.
On her IG live, yesterday, she said:
“Before you show off, first look at the condition of your home. Have you ever seen a banker flaunting his or her car on social media?
You bought a car, you put it on social media. Even those that are not up to 40 years are now lying on social media that they are 40. You bought a house, you put it on social media. Why?
Why are we doing all that? Actor Odunlade Adekola bought a Range Rover and nobody knew anything, since he has brain and wise. This one bought a car, it’s on social media, that one bought something, it’s on social media. Is social media our life?”
Some football fans are saying that Lionel Messi just might have predicted his country’s defeat after showing signs of serious stress ahead of Argentina’s World Cup clash with Croatia.
BBC cameras filmed the Argentina team as the country’s national anthem was played to the crowd ahead of the group game – many of the players looked into the distance, focused on the job at hand, but Messi appeared to be suffering with a headache.
He rubbed his forehead vigorously as the camera lingered on him with a look of concern etched on his face. The soccer icon has been down in the dumps ever since his penalty miss in Argentina’s 1-1 draw with Iceland in their opening World Cup group game.
Meanwhile, Messi has been urged to retire from international duty with Argentina for the second time after his team’s dismal showing against Croatia.
The Barcelona superstar was totally anonymous as once again the blue and white stripes failed to impress on the big stage.
Goals from Ante Rebic, Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic sealed a deserved 3-0 win for Croatia, leaving Argentina needing a minor miracle to get through the group stages.
