A Nigerian man, Abodunde David Olubunmi, has been arrested in connection with the murder of his wife, Nurse Taiwo, a few months after they relocated to the UK.

The couple moved abroad with their three children at the beginning of 2023. However, shortly after, Taiwo filed a restraining order against her husband for reasons that were not made public.

Sadly, the man still found a way to harm her and killed her in cold blood. At the time of writing this story, the man has been remanded in jail in the UK while their children are currently in the custody of social services.

Confirming the sad news, Owoeye Adekunle, the brother of the deceased, took to Facebook to share the heartbreaking report and mourn her tragic passing.

“This is to officially announce the painful Exit of my dear sister, Nurse Owoeye Taiwo Morenikeji, married to Abodunde David Olubunmi of Ipoti Ekiti. According to Suffolk Police in the UK and the available documents/records sent to us via mail/ direct conversations from the UK Police, after thoroughly conducted investigations, despite been caught in the act, he (the husband) was declared the sole murderer of his wife (my sister).

And for the children, they are currently being taken care of by the UK social services. On this note, I want to tell the entire member of Owoeyes’ family, to stay calm (though painful) ‘as justice will be served on the killer in due course, be rest assured.

I want to thank UK Govt, Detectives Peter, Amy and the hired Private investigators, as well as the Nigeria Embassy in London for their professionalism. To the Onigogo of Igogo -Ekiti and Sons and Daughters of Igogo, with alots of our friends especially in the UK, we say thank you for your efforts so far. To the people that came from far and near to console, we appreciate.

Nigerian crossdresser, Daniel Nsikan, better known as Jay Boogie, has responded to accusations of lying and defrauding Nigerians with a fake medical diagnosis.

Jay Boogie has repeatedly been in the news lately after making his health condition public. He had disclosed that he had a botched liposuction surgery that resulted in sepsis and acute kidney injury. He then appealed for financial assistance for his medical treatment.

A medical doctor, believed to be a friend, later revealed that Jay Boogie’s two kidneys had failed and that he would be needing a kidney transplant.

However, a few days after the disclosure, one of the GoFundMe organizers raised concerns about the authenticity of Jay Boogie’s diagnosis, claiming he refused to provide a medical report. She also announced that the funds would be returned to the public.

Well, the crossdresser has now responded in a statement shared on his official Instagram page. He clarified that he never said he needed a kidney transplant but only sought financial help for treatment.

He debunked claims of lying and deceiving the public for money. Providing an update his health, Jay Boogie disclosed that he was discharged on November 28, adding that he no longer requires dialysis and is recuperating.

A Nigerian woman residing in Benin City, Edo State, has shared her experience of how a suspected fraudster, impersonating a POS operator, swapped her ATM card and managed to withdraw all the funds from her bank account.

The incident, recounted in a video she recorded, serves as a reminder about the prevalence of scams targeting unsuspecting individuals.

According to the woman, she encountered the fraudster while attempting to withdraw money from an ATM that was not dispensing cash.

A young man claiming to be a POS operator approached her and offered his assistance.

Trustingly, she handed over her card to him, hoping to retrieve the cash she intended to withdraw.

The imposter inserted her card into his POS machine but quickly feigned a network issue, stating that he was unable to complete the transaction.

Returning what she believed to be her card, she left the scene. However, her intuition prompted her to visit a nearby ATM to change her PIN.

To her dismay, the machine repeatedly rejected her attempts, indicating an incorrect PIN. It was then that she realized the fraudster had swapped her card with a counterfeit one.

Regrettably, her suspicions were confirmed when she received a debit alert shortly afterward, indicating that the fraudster had successfully emptied her bank account.

As the story continues to spread online, it is as sparked buzz, in hopes that awareness will be raised, allowing others to stay alert and protect themselves from falling victim to similar fraud schemes.

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, popularly known by his stage name Mr Eazi, has thought back on how he became a target of cancel culture after claiming that Ghana influenced Nigerian music.

Recall that Mr. Eazi faced criticism after he tweeted on January 11, 2017, regarding Ghanaian music’s great effect on modern Nigerian music. In reaction, a number of colleagues, fans, and music lovers threatened to cancel him.

In response to the criticism, Mr. Eazi stated that, in spite of the threats, he doesn’t regret making the comment on a recent episode of the Afrobeats Intelligence Podcast with media personality, Joey Akan.

However, he was disappointed when some of the people in the business, whom he thought of as friends, joined others in cancelling him rather than dealing with the issue in private.

The “Leg Over” crooner also attacked individuals who still hold grudges against him, saying his remarks were insignificant and implying that their hostility is the result of unconnected factors.

“When the whole issue with me being cancelled, even till tomorrow, I see people come on my [social media] profile and still throw hate. They said, ‘Oh, yeah, you said that.’ I’m like, ‘Fam, really? A Nigerian man was left bewildered after his girlfriend of one month destroyed his apartment over suspicion of cheating.

The Abuja-based man, identified as @Sarkideyforyou on Twitter (now X), revealed that he had traveled to Ilorin for a work trip but couldn’t keep in touch with his girlfriend due to network issues.

During his weekend stay in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, he was unable to contact his girlfriend, whom he had left in his house in Abuja.

UNICAL student reportedly k!dnapped in Calabar, abductors demand N3m ransom

A 400-level student of the University of Calabar, Celsus Eti-Emanaobong Bernard, has reportedly been kidnapped by unknown assailants on the school premises.

Celsus, a Tourism Studies student, was abducted on Tuesday, November 28. While details of the incident remain sketchy, it was gathered that the bolt driver transporting her to her destination has been brutally killed by the abductors.

The brother of the abducted student has taken to Twitter (now X) to raise the alarm, stating that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N3 million. They have threatened to kill her if the ransom is not paid before the end of Monday, December 4.

The young man, identified as @eyoUTD419 on Twitter, is also soliciting donations from well-meaning Nigerians to meet the ransom demand and secure his sister’s release.

He shared photos of his sister and a photo of the Bolt driver’s corpse, with the caption:

A tweep identified as @novieverest on the microblogging platform X has shared his discussion with an Uber driver who was conveying him to his destination.

Narrating the story, the man mentioned that the Uber guy lost everything after his wife falsely accused him of rape in Canada.

He wrote;

“God!!!! This Japa thing is not easy. I felt so much pity for my bolt driver this evening. Some women are so wicked, that you can call them the devil itself. This man lived in Canada for 11 years. I almost wept for him. I will break down if I go through this level of pain. He lost both parents while in Canada. After he lost his dad he was in so much disarray and had an argument with his wife. During the argument, he smashed her phone and that was it. She went to the police and accused him of rape and house arrest. He hired a lawyer, but it cost Him $7,000. Along the line, madam went to the police and told them that was not what happened. That they misunderstood her. Police refused that they must finish their investigation. After the investigation, all charges were dropped but the man’s life is already ruined. He went back home but things were broken already. A divorce will cost him $3,000 monthly for child support. He had to relocate to Nigeria. He might never see his children again. Scary. I had tears in my eyes.”

Two uniformed police officers publicly exchange blows (Video)

Two Nigerian police officers in uniform have been captured on video exchanging blows in public over an undisclosed matter.

The men were seen punching and pulling one other as they emerged from a police patrol car in a video that went viral on social media.

They all returned to the car when the altercation became so severe that one of their colleagues had to step in and break them up.

Maheed Muazu, the Gombe Police Public Relations Officer, denounced the behaviour of the security guards, writing, “Bad attitude; it can’t be tolerated.”

The video sparked reactions from netizens who deemed the act very unprofessional and unruly.

LAMATA’s Vision Unveiled: Lagos Red Line Metro to Commence Service in 2024

In a recent press conference held by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), exciting news was revealed regarding the much-anticipated Red Line metro system.

With the successful launch of the Blue Rail connecting Marina to Mile 2 earlier this year, the state government is now gearing up for the commercial operation of the Red Line in the second quarter of 2024.

Under the visionary leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Government is committed to prioritizing transportation and traffic management as part of its THEMES+ agenda.

The addition of the Red Line is a grand step towards offering efficient and sustainable mobility solutions while improving air quality and reducing emissions within Lagos. The construction of the Red Line’s five stations is progressing with full force, with completion scheduled for December. Following this, test runs will commence in the first quarter of 2024, paving the way for full commercial operations.

The Red Line’s introduction is expected to reduce traffic congestion on major routes and provide commuters with a reliable and comfortable transportation option.

Not stopping at rail systems, the Lagos State Government has also unveiled plans to introduce electric buses (EBs) to the city’s roads. Collaborating with Oando Clean Energy Limited (OCEL), the government has already deployed two electric vehicles (EVs) as part of a pilot program.

The aim is to test the feasibility of electric buses and eventually increase the fleet to over 1,000 buses within the next two years. This initiative will not only reduce emissions but also enhance overall sustainability of public transportation in Lagos.

Furthermore, LAMATA is exploring alternative fuel sources to power its vehicles. The agency is piloting the use of Clean Natural Gas (CNG) on selected BRT corridors, with 10 CNG buses already in operation. By bringing on board eco-friendly stock like CNG, biofuels, and electric buses, LAMATA aims to achieve the state’s vision of zero emissions by 2050.

The press conference also shed light on the progress of the Lagos Urban Train Projects (LUTP). LAMATA proudly announced the completion of the Blue Line, a fully electric rail system, and confirmed that civil works for the Red Line are set to conclude by the end of this year.

Test runs for the Red Line are scheduled for the first quarter of 2024. Reflecting on LAMATA’s achievements over the past twenty years Managing Director Engr. (Mrs) Abimbola Akinajo emphasized the agency’s commitment to developing an efficient public intermodal transport system.

With a focus on integration and reduced emissions, LAMATA envisions a future where all transport modes peacefully coexist, enabling stress-free travel and ensuring smooth commute for Lagos residents.

With LAMATA leading the way, Lagos is on the fore front to become a model for urban mobility in Africa. The future of transportation in Lagos is bright, and residents can eagerly anticipate the transformative impact of these initiatives on their daily commute.

The lady started by revealing that the minimum wage per hour in the UK is £10, which equals 14k to 15k in Nigeria.

She then proceeded to a store to begin her shopping. She selected several food items, including spaghetti, onions, chicken, and more, then moved to the checkout.

After finishing the purchase, she realized that she didn’t exhaust the whole £10, leaving her with five pence left.

Popular South African socialite, Faith Nketsi has taken to social media to announce the saddening end of her marriage to her estranged husband, Nzuzo Njilo.

UNILAG student shares how lecturer threatened him after he informed him that he was wrongly graded

A student of the University of Lagos has shared how a lecturer threatened him after he confronted him for wrongly grading him.

He shared this under a thread on the microblogging platform X, where they condemned the ruthless behavior of some university lecturers.

The student, who identifies as @lorde_law, mentioned that he had informed the lecturer that his 300-level first-semester exam was wrongly marked.

Instead of the lecturer looking into the grade to determine if it was indeed wrongly marked, he threatened him for pointing it out.

The student also emphasized the fact that lecturers barely do the right thing and highlighted how difficult they make learning in the university look for students.

“The entire University of Lagos. I can bet my life that 300l first semester insurance exams were wrongly graded and I’m ready to take this to any length. Only for the lecturer to threaten me after pointing it out. Hell I still remember the questions.

I remember how many time I found discrepancies in my grade accumulation. One time, they said I had no CA cos I didn’t write it. Lol Only to find my scripts in their pile of dirt besides their desk.

They’d rather die than do the right thing. We are fighting poverty, fighting the government, we also have to fight lecturers to at least do the right thing. Everything is stacked against the average Nigerian student in uni.”
