Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has beaten Super Eagles and Chelsea forward Victor Moses to the 2017 BBC African Footballer of the Year award.
This was announced on BBC Sports verified Twitter handle on Monday following votes by football fans.
Salah also beat off competition from Gabon and Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Naby Keita of Guinea and Leipzig and Sadio Mane of Senegal and Liverpool.
The former Chelsea and Roma winger has been in brilliant form for both club and country in the outgoing year.
Salah played a key role for Egypt qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia since Italia 1990.
He is currently the highest goal scorer in the English Premier League on 13 goals.
He becomes the third Egyptian after Mohamed Barakat (2005) and Mohamed Aboutrika (2008) to win the award.

Wu was well known for his fearless stunts, scaling towering skyscrapers without any safety equipment whatsoever.
According to reports from Yahoo, he has over 300 videos of him, tip-toeing on scaffolding, or doing stunts, pull-ups as he hung from the side of huge buildings and they were all shared by his fans who loved him.
However, his account on Sina Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, went silent around a month ago after he purportedly attempted the Changsha skyscraper.
And last Friday his girlfriend wrote online: “Today is December 8th. It makes me think of November 8th, the day you left us and left this world.”
The Changsha Evening News said Mr Wu was seeking to make money for his poverty-striken family and pay medical costs for his mother, who suffers from a mental condition.
Local officials said authorities would support his family following the accident.
Police confirmed that Mr Wu died when he fell from the Huayuan Hua Centre on November 8, reports said.

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Coza Ministry has taken to social media to recount how he started his ministry with just one trouser and holes in his wife’s shoes.

Nigerian gospel singer, Obiwon has reacted to the tithe controversy spearheaded by the “Free the Sheeple” leader and Cool FM OAP, Daddy Freeze.
Obiwon who took to Instagram to pen down an open letter to Daddy Freeze, told him to let God fight for Himself.
According to the singer, they can quote scriptures back and forth on the tithe controversy, however it will be fruitless and also sinful.
He wrote:
“Freeze my brother, I love you and appreciate the times you supported my music. Here’s my reply to your advice to me…
We can quote scriptures back on forth on this tithe matter and I have quoted many myself, but such strivings would be fruitless, and we would be sinning in the light of 2nd Timothy 2:23, no matter which side you’re on. .
One thing I believe and you must know about Jehovah God, the Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, is that neither you nor I nor any human being for that matter can fight for Him. He is big enough and powerful enough to fight for Himself. My little experience with Him is that you allow God to prove Himself by Himself, in the course of time.
Jesus is jealous for His Church you know, so the matter of who’s right or wrong, who’s cheating and deceiving in the whole rouse of tithing in churches, will surely be settled; and it will be clear for all to see who’s side God is on. I believe we will see it sooner or later, in our lifetime.
So my own advice is, allow God to fight for Himself and prove Himself with His mighty acts. Of course He is looking intently and watching right now how we all are carrying on with this, especially in the light of the greatest commandment which He gave us, which is Love. .
I hope you get to share this too with your followers, so that they also will take heed and not err constantly with insults, dishonourable words and actions against individuals and against the body of Christ, which do not please God. .
For me I consciously chose to leave everything and follow Christ, so I’m glad to bear His marks in my life and ministry (Galatians 6:17). The life and walk in Him is too sweet and precious to give up for anything else in the world!

Former vice-president Atiku Abubakar paid a visit to former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida in his home in Minna, Niger State.

Nollywood actor cum Politician Yul Edochie, has given reasons for contesting the November 18, 2017 governorship election of his state, Anambra, despite knowing it was a tall ambition.

Yul, who is the son of veteran actor, Pete Edochie, contested on the platform of the Democratic Peoples Congress, DPC, but polled a paltry 145 votes to place 19 out of 37 contenders for the governorship seat of the state.
Speaking in Awka, the state capital at the weekend during the inauguration of the newly elected Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B, Comrade Kenneth Okeke and other executive members, the younger Edochie said he took part in the election in order to give youths in the state a voice.
“Gov. Willie Obiano dealt with all of us because I know that it is not easy for a candidate to win the 21 local government Areas in a state like Anambra, so, we congratulate him and now that the election is over, what remains is for us to support him and his government.
“We did not lose the election per se but I am fulfilled that we represented the voice of the youths in Anambra state. We won the election by getting to the end of the election without surrendering to anybody against all odds and pressure. I am calling on all of us to support the winner to ensure that the next four years will be better for the entire Anambra people”, Yul Edochie said.
According to reports shared in Hausa language by multiple online Northern media prints, a House of Representatives aspirant in Jalingo, capital of Taraba State, reportedly threw a baby into an abandoned well with some diabolic and fetish material to win the forthcoming election.
The incident which sparked confusion and panic in the state, led to the suspect’s arrest as residents stormed the well to remove the dead baby along with other fetish items.
