“You are wearing fake carton crowns” – Olubadan Tells Newly Crowned Kings

olubadan tells newly crowned kings

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji has described the crowns given to the new 21 kings in Ibadan by the Oyo State government as one made of carton.

olubadan tells newly crowned kings

The monarch stated this when the Council of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis paid him a solidarity visit at his Popo Yemoja Palace on Tuesday.

In a statement signed by the Director, Media and Public Affairs to the monarch, Adeola Oloko, he said that he waited for 40 years before he was made a king, urging the high chiefs who were crowned king by the state government to wait for their turn to become kings.

He said:

“I started as a Mogaji. I was moving step by step before I assumed the throne after 40 years. I thank God for that. We must all love one another. If you love yourself and hate others, your purpose of love is nothing. I was called by the elders of my family to come and become a Mogaji more than 40 years ago. I rejected it and for three years, they were persuading me.
“In trying to convince me, the representative of my family told me that it could be that one day I would become a king. I then accepted it and became the Mogaji of my family. I waited on God and he made me a king.

“Those who were crowned a few weeks ago know within themselves that they are wearing fake crowns, it is just a carton crown. I began my journey more than 40 years, why can’t they wait for their turn. If you don’t wait for your turn, you will be on the wrong side of destiny.”

“The Olubadan described as untrue and unfounded the statement credited to a group of Ibadan elders that Kabiyesi had consented to the controversial chieftaincy review embarked upon by the Oyo State Government resulting in the controversial crowning of 21 new kings.
“Oba Adetunji stated that the elders should not mislead Ibadan people into believing what he did not say, as what he said was that Governor Ajimobi, over whom they had come to plead, was his son and that he would not want a third party intervention over the matter. The Olubadan said for the avoidance of doubt, his opposition to the elevation of high chiefs to kingship status without domain remained the same.
“The Olubadan said that he could not see how he would bless the high chiefs who had refused to wait for their turn before stepping forward to take crowns from the government, contrary to our tradition and custom.
“The king said that the same Ibadan Elders’ Forum stoutly opposed the former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s move to elevate six baales in their letter dated April 24, 2009. On page two of that letter titled, ‘The composition of Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs’, signed by Ambassador Olu Sanu and Onaolapo Ajibola, they stated, “The (Ibadan Chieftaincy) system had worked for ages and ensured peace and stability in Ibadan land and the forum would therefore not want the government to tamper with the system in order not to create confusion and ill feeling.’
“The first-class monarch has therefore urged the Ibadan elders to stop contradicting themselves and creating confusion for peace and progress of Ibadan land.”

“My beef with 50 Cent earned Nigerian artistes respect all over the country” – Eedris Abdulkareem

eedris abdulkareem beef 50 cent

In an exclusive interview with LIB, Veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem has once again spoken about his famous beef with American rapper, 50 Cent.

Recall that 13 years ago, 50 Cent was confronted by Eedris in a Lagos airport. The American rapper was billed to headline the annual Star Mega Jam when a mild drama ensued aboard an ADC airline from Lagos to Port Harcourt.

It was reported that Eedris attempted to sit in a seat reserved for 50 Cent, but was prevented from doing so.

The ‘Jaga Jaga’ rapper who claimed he was protesting to the treatment given to foreign and local acts during the musical tour, said the beef was the revolution that got every artiste respected in the Nigerian industry and outside the country.

In his words:

When I was on the plane with 50, and he asked me to get the hell out of his seat. I said no, this is Nigeria, this is my country.

‘He can’t come here and tell me shit, that isn’t gonna happen. That was the revolution that got every artistes respected in the Nigerian industry and it took them all over the country.’

‘That was the defending moment for the Nigerian artistes, I can remember at the back stage, Psquare was sent away, a couple of people were also sent a way and I wasn’t happy about it.’

‘But moving forward, I’m happy for the Nigerian Industry and am happy with everything that’s happening today.’

3 years later, in 2007, the pair squashed off their beef when 50 Cent came to Nigeria to perform at media launch of the KORA Awards in Abuja, Eedris publicly apologised to him on stage.

All you need to know about the new iPhone X

Ten years after Apple launched its first iPhone, they have revealed the iPhone X.

It has no home button, scans your face to log you in and costs $999.

The company unveiled the anniversary edition smartphone, alongside an iPhone 8 and its bigger sibling, the iPhone 8 Plus, at a press event at the brand new Apple Park campus in Cupertino on Tuesday.

iPhone X

The company also announced a new Apple Watch with a cellular connection, an Apple TV that streams 4K video, and gave the public its first peek at the circular Steve Jobs Theater.

The new iPhone X kills the home button to make space for a larger screen. It has an edge-to-edge display, glass on the front and back, wireless charging that requires resting the phone on a special surface, and a surgical grade stainless steel band around the edges. It’s water and dust resistant.

The 5.8-inch OLED display isn’t just bigger, it also packs 458 pixels-per-inch. Apple (AAPL, Tech30) calls it a Super Retina Display. It supports HDR, has a million-to-one contrast ratio and improved color accuracy.

iPhone X

The loss of the home button means no more fingerprint sensor. To unlock the phone, you can use your face with a new technology called Face ID. Front-facing cameras and sensors create a map of your face to determine if you are the phone’s proper owner. The technology learns more about your face every time you use it, and stores any face detection information on the device. It uses small flood light to work in the dark.

Apple said face detection is more secure than fingerprints. It added there was a one in 50,000 chance of a random person being able to open your phone with their fingerprint. But those chances drop to 1 in a million with face detection.
The company also introduced a Face ID-enabled feature called Animoji, which serves up animated emoji that mimic your facial expressions. For example, you’ll be able to give your friends side-eye as a unicorn.

The iPhone X will cost $999 for the 64 GB version, $1,149 for the 256 GB version, and start shipping on Nov. 3 — more than a month later than all the other devices announced on Tuesday.

For those not willing to shell out a grand for a new smartphone, the iPhone 8 options are cheaper and also pack a powerful punch. They’re faster, sturdier and better at snapping photos than the previous iPhone.

On the surface, the devices look similar to the iPhone 7. The iPhone 8 clocks in at 4.7 inches and iPhone 8 Plus is 5.5 inches. But inside is an A11 “bionic chip” and an improved camera sensor.

Wireless charging, available on both the iPhone X and iPhone 8 devices, is a big move forward, too. The charging requires contact between a special surface and the glass back of the iPhone. The technology is based on Qi wireless charging, which Apple believes will be available at coffee shops, stores and airports around the world in the near future, so people can get juice on the go.

iPhone 8 smartphones, which come with an aluminum band around the edges, will be available in three colors: space gray, gold and silver.

The iPhone 8 will start at $699 and the iPhone 8 Plus is $799 for 64 GB models.

Nigerian Lady narrates her experience after IPOB boys harassed her & her boss

A Nigerian Lady, Bridget Anurika Eze has narrated her experience with the IPOB Boys yesterday, as she alongside her boss were both harrassed in Aba.

Read Below:

MY EXPERIENCE WITH IPOB BOYS TODAY.

All my life I have never had a first hand experience of public harassment like today.

As part of our normal routine in the office and the scheme at large, we left for facilities inspection at Aba, and off Aba along port Harcourt road.

After we were done and coming back, we got to enyimba Junction/bakassi,coman see ipob boys terrorizing people, everyone running for their lives. We kept on moving but slowly and noticed that the road was kinda dry.

Before we knew it ipob boys rushed out from nowhere and attacked our hilux, they where more than 15, carrying different weapons, one of them used shovel and hit the hilux hard, before I could blink my eyes they opened the door and started dragging us out, I heard my oga chorused , NO please, we are BIAFRANS ” I joined them o, and was shouting, biafra, biafra..

This boys weren’t even listening, one used a heavy big stone and was hitting my oga, others were removing the car Cover seat that’s made of Nigeria color /coat of arm. That we are not biafra, that’s why we had that on, that were is our flag or means of identification…. I didn’t know what to do, they dragged me outta the car, I came down didn’t know what to do, I thought of hiding under the hilux but no way because they were just everywhere.

I was just praying my last prayer just incase they decide to kill us. Ever seen or witnessed any case of jungle justice? Now, that’s exactly the scene today.

The other part of the road was another set of ipob boys damaging a truck full of goods, and another dangote truck full of cement on fire already.

All this I witnessed/saw within 20mins…
Finally I heard oya enter your motor and run for your life.
We sped off.

It was just I, the coordinator, and the driver. I started asking the driver why they allowed us go, our driver said he gave them 500naira that’s why they said we should go.

On our way still driving carefully, because they are everywhere, we saw soldiers in their convoy coming down to calm the situation.

On entering umuahia, the check points are tight, every living thing except the driver inside a bus, car, keke must come down and raise his/her two hands up to be sure the person isn’t with any weapon.

Oh well… ?
Until there’s a legal/defined way to go about this biafra thingy, there will never be peace. If you haven’t experienced this ipob boys and there madness you will not understand , it’s not about writing epistle on Facebook in the comfort of your home that they should give us biafra this and that. This boys are terrorizing us, their people, the igbos per se.

Imagine if they had killed us or any of us. Just like that.

Most of this ipob boys are touts, and thieves, I almost forgot to say that they took our drivers phone too.

And returned it when he gave them the money.

This is too much really.

My heart is still heavy.

Find attached the selfies I took before and after, u’ll notice the car seat cover that was removed. I couldn’t take pictures of the other scenes because I was scared.

I just Thank God we came out of this alive.

The Picture she took on her way out, with the Nigeria’s Coat of Arm visit on the car seat behind…
The picture she took after the IPOB boys harassed them, it’s visible that she looked stressed.

“If you are not worth $500m don’t DM me” — Bobrisky warns Nigerian guys.

Bobrisky warns Nigerian guys

Controversial Transgender, Bobrisky has urged all guys trying to slide into his DM not to, expect of course they are worth $500m.

He took to his Instagram page, to share a picture of himself, doled up in a purple filter, and captioned it:

“If you don’t worth $500million pls don’t dm me pls Biko. I know how much I spend on my skin everyday girls you can dm me but guys naaaaaa. Only if you worth that cash”

The famous SnapChat star recently returned to Nigeria after a long sojourn abroad. In June, the crossdresser flew to the United States, where he traipsed from city to city, headlining club appearances and making his fair share of trouble.

Last week, he flew first class back to Nigeria (and ensured he posted the photo of the first class wing; because, haters), and he has since been giving his followers juicy details of his lifestyle.

Then of recent, Bobrisky landed an endorsement deal with multi-million naira hair company, Hair Nymph, and was sure to brag about the ‘millions’ he copped from that deal.

Now, the new photos from the shoot are out and we must agree, Bobrisky is no longer the Idris Okuneye of the past, who was shamed by the Nigerian police for dressing up like a woman.

Here’s what Bobrisky (aka Idris Okuneye) used to look like:

And here’s Bobrisky as at yesterday:

Moment When Olori Wuraola’s People Returned Her Bride Price.

The Ooni of Ife has declared the freedom for his estranged Olori, Wuraola, after Benin Elders returned her bride price.

According to TheBossNewspaper, the former wife of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Wuraola can remarry if she wishes, as the customary bride price paid by the revered monarch was returned fully from the elders of Queen Zynab’s Family in Benin City.

According to a source in Benin, the Ooni was initially reluctant to collect the bride price, but was persuaded by the Elders as a way of closing the controversial marriage and separation.

She’s free now, she’s free…,” the Ooni was quoted to have exclaimed afterwards.

Olori Wuraola's People

The Elders had sued for amicable settlement instead of a rough separation. Both families appeared relieved about this final foreclosure of the marriage that lasted less than two years.

According to a Yoruba source, it was imperative that the bride price be returned even as it is just a token, adding that it holds significant value and meaningful according to tradition.

“When a bride price is returned, the man no longer have ties or right over the woman in question, and they can only see themselves afterwards as friends if they so desire,” the Yoruba source said.

Governor Of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu Declares 3-Day Curfew In Abia.

Okezie Ikpeazu Declares

The governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has declared a three-day curfew in the state capital, Aba, following a clash between members of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB and some soldiers today.

Reports online have it that, the clash between both parties occurred at the Isiala Ngwa junction of Aba and seven IPOB members reportedly lost their lives.

The secessionist group members were on their way to Umuahia, the hometown of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, when the clash occurred. Earlier today, it was reported that IPOB members in Umuahia had a faceoff with some soldiers who passed by their leaders home in the town.

In a statement released this evening, the state government says the curfew will begin from 6 pm to 6 am starting from Tuesday, September 12 until Thursday, September 14th.

The full statement below

Abia State has for the past few days been the focus of security searchlight occasioned by the reported skirmish between some groups in the State, especially Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) with men of the Nigerian Army. Government notes and has observed the frenzy of activities of members of IPOB within Afara – Umuahia, the ancestral home of the leader of IPOB for some months now. Government is equally aware of the recent proclamation by the Nigerian Army of Operation Python Dance II within the South-East geopolitical region of Nigeria. The operation as declared by the Army is intended to check kidnapping, banditry, assassination, secessionist activities within the region, amongst other forms of criminal activities. The recent confrontation between the Nigerian Army and members of IPOB on Sunday, 10th September, 2017, could presumably be attributed to the commencement of the said Operation Python Dance II. The Abia State Government unequivocally states that Abia is a component State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and subscribes to the supremacy of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all other extant laws.

While the Government of Abia State recognizes the right of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, to perform their statutory duty of protection of lives and property of Nigerian citizens, such duties must be carried out within acclaimed Nigerian and international standards of engagement with the civil populace, with due respect to the human rights of citizens and sanctity of human lives. The Abia State Government is committed to the protection of the lives and properties of its citizens and others residing and doing business within the geographical entity called Abia State. Abians and others living within Abia, are advised to remain law abiding and carry on their lawful business without fear, as efforts by Government will be made to reduce friction between the civil populace and military personnel in the State. Meanwhile, Aba residents are advised to observe a curfew from 6pm to 6am from today 12/09/2017 to 14/09/2017. Persons residing within the State are strongly advised to remain law abiding, while going about their lawful business without fear of molestation, and, not engage in any form of confrontation with military personnel or other security agents. The Government recognizes the constitutional Right to Freedom of Movement for all Nigerians, but objects to the influx of people into Abia State for purposes of unsettling the enduring peace in the State.

Finally, Abia State will co-operate with security agencies to maintain the rule of law and order in the State.

Thank you for your prayers and concern. He has gone to be with the Lord.

“Cooking Moi-moi in nylons is dangerous” — Expert warns

A dietician, Mr John Tehinse, has warned people against cooking moi-moi and other foods in nylons or cellophane bags as it produced dioxins, a toxic substance that causes cancer.

Tehinse gave the warning on Tuesday in Ilorin at an awareness campaign on food safety organised by the Food Safety Awareness Campaign Initiatives, funded by the European Union.

Moin-moin is a Nigerian steamed bean pudding made from a mixture of washed and peeled black-eyed peas, onions and fresh ground peppers.

It is a protein-rich, staple food in Nigeria and has its origin in West Africa.

In his lecture entitled: “Food Safety Control System in Nigeria”, he explained that cooking Moin-moin, a local delicacy of bean pudding, in nylon had become widespread while people were unaware of the dangers.

The food safety expert said nylons or cellophane bags produced dioxins when heated, adding “they are a group of chemically-related compounds that are persistent environmental pollutants (POPs)’’.

Tehinse further warned that dioxins were highly toxic and could cause reproductive and developmental problems, damage the immune system, interfere with hormones and also cause cancer.

He advised people to use the traditional leaves to cook the food.

The dietician also called for good food practices in Nigeria and urged restaurant owners to look at the business as public service.

“Food business is not only to make money but a calling to protect public health and ensure what they offer to consumers is safe,” he said.

Nigerian Yahoo Boy Jailed In UK Over Credit Card Fraud

A Nigerian fraudster who threw a wallet full of bogus credit cards out of his window when officers of the National Crime Agency NCA officers arrived to arrest him has been jailed for two years and four months.

Alexander Akinyele, 37, of Doncaster Place, Barrow-in-Furness, had earlier pleaded guilty to ten fraud offences, a Computer Misuse Act Offence and to possession of a false ID with intent.

According to the NCA, officers arrived at Akinyele’s home in August 2016. Moments before his arrest, Akinyele threw a wallet containing eight fraudulent credit and store cards and a forged driving licence out of a window.

The subsequent NCA investigation revealed he had possession of 500 valid usernames and passwords for online Sky accounts and the same number for BT accounts which he had bought on the internet.

During their search of Akinyele’s house, NCA officers found he had also stolen several peoples’ personal details, including those of a 74-year-old man, in order to set up bank and credit card accounts and to buy access to Netflix and Argos.

Sentencing him today at Preston Crown Court, Judge Heather Lloyd described Akinyele’s criminal activity as “a persistent and serious offence.”

NCA officer Andrew Shorrock said: “Akinyele used other people’s identities for financial gain, including that of a 74-year-old man. When Akinyele finally had to accept responsibility himself he resorted to really quite desperate measures, throwing evidence out of the window.

“The effect of ID fraud on victims, who are often the most vulnerable in our society, can last for a long time. But there are simple steps you can take to reduce your chances of being a victim.

Why? The customary bride price paid by the revered monarch has been returned fully from the elders of Queen Zynab’s Family in Benin City, Nigeria.

According to a source in Benin, the Ooni was initially reluctant to collect the bride price, but was persuaded by the Elders as a way of closing the controversial marriage and separation.

“She’s free now, she’s free…,” the Ooni was quoted to have exclaimed afterwards.

The Elders had sued for amicable settlement instead of a rough separation. Both families appeared relieved about this final foreclosure of the marriage that lasted less than two years.

It will be recalled that earlier in August, an online magazine, The Boss exclusively reported the break of the marriage between the revered kingdoms of Ife and Benin, where the paramount ruler of Ife Kingdom, and first among the list of Yoruba Obas, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi took Queen Zynab to wife.

The marriage which was contracted in March 2016 in elaborate ceremonies held in Benin and Ife hit the rocks over alleged infidelity.

According to a reliable source, it was imperative that the bride price be returned even as it is just a token, adding that it holds significant value and meaningful according to tradition.

“When a bride price is returned, the man no longer have ties or right over the woman in question, and they can only see themselves afterwards as friends if they so desire,” the source said.

Recall that after the declaration of Olori Wuraola that she was done with the king, a Yoruba popular Ifa traditionalist, playwright, actor and author, Yemi Elebuibon opined on the consequence of a queen separating from a king.

While noting that Ooni would not be the first Yoruba Oba to be separated from his wife, Elebuibon stressed that marriage breakup is not very common among Yoruba Obas.

He said, “The wife of the Oba will be asked to consult Ifa and Ifa will give directions on how she will make the necessary atonement for her cleansing. In Yoruba tradition, a woman who has been married to a king cannot lay with any other man even if the marriage breaks up. But when the right atonements have been made, there won’t be problem.”

On the kind of problems which an Oba’s ex-wife might encounter if she refuses to undergo the traditional cleansing rites, Elebuibon said: “For the woman, she might not really have a problem but for any man who sleeps with a queen or marries an ex-queen without the appropriate cleansing, the man may die prematurely, he may be struck with sickness or there might be retrogression in his life.”

He explained that if an ex-queen wants to remarry, she will have to do the cleansing with her new husband. Both of them have to take part in the atonement procedures so that they won’t have any future problem.

‘I think Nnamdi Kanu is fighting a very good cause but in a very bad way. He also said:

‘you can’t be out on bail and be agitating for something because that could basically lead us to war and we don’t need war in this country right now. If we are not careful, what happened in 1967 may repeat itself because we have a governmnet that does not know how to go about bringing people together.

Eedris also hinted that Nnamdi Kanu’s long term plan may be to contest for a Senatorial seat come 2019,

‘Like I said, the way he’s going about it is wrong, people are getting killed everyday and that’s not good and we are still not sure if the referendum is asking for is for real because he could still go for Senate in 2019’ he said.
