21-year-old, Ibrahim Oyebanji, who allegedly assaulted a man with a razor blade for talking with his girlfriend, was on Thursday brought before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Oyebanji, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to a two-count of assault and stealing brought against him.
But the Prosecutor, Sgt. Christopher Okoliko said the accused committed the offences on May 28 at 10.00.a.m. on Sari-Iganmu Road in Orile, Lagos.
According to him, the accused assaulted a 23-year-old, Michael Opara, by cutting him with a razor blade on his chest and caused him bodily harm.
The accused, he alleged, also stole Opara’s N24,500 and a Nokia phone valued at N2,500, all valued at N27,000.
He told the court that the accused saw the complainant having a talk with his girlfriend and out of jealousy, he brought out the blade and cut him on the chest.
The offences contravened Sections 173 and 278 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).
The accused, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.
The Chief Magistrate,Mr. A.A. Paul, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He said the surety must be gainfully employed and should provide evidence of tax payment.
The court adjourned the case until June 27 for mention.
A South Carolina school bus driver, Teresa Stroble helped get 56 students off the vehicle before it burst into flames, Tuesday morning in Duncan, USA.
According to WSPA, the bus en route to Duncan Elementary, Beech Springs Intermediate and Byrnes High School when two students at the back of the bus noticed smoke.
The students informed the driver and she got each of the 56 students off the bus and asked the transportation office to call 911.
The bus then caught fire and firefighters arrived on scene to extinguish the blaze.
Superintendent Scott Turner told WSPA that she was able to evacuate everyone in under a minute as he is very proud of her actions.
He said:
“She did exactly what she was trained to do. She was calm. She kept the students calm. She made sure they were safe. They were her first priority. She’s our hero today.”
The school district took to their Facebook page to notify parents about the incident.
They wrote:
District Five Schools of Spartanburg County has many reasons to be grateful today! This morning, just after 7:00 a.m., one of our buses carrying students on their way to Duncan Elementary, Beech Springs Intermediate and Byrnes Freshman Academy, caught fire.
Two 9th grade students immediately noticed the smoke, and alerted their driver. Teresa Stroble, a 7 year veteran driver and teacher assistant for our district, did exactly as she was trained and quickly and calmly evacuated all 56 students from the bus, and got them to a safe location. She is a true hero!!!
We are so thankful for the quick action of the Duncan Fire Department in putting the fire out, and all district administrators who responded and helped with what could have been a very tragic situation.
As all of our school buses are owned by the state of South Carolina, the investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing, and will be completed by staff at the state level. We are so blessed that all of our students, and Ms. Stroble are safe!
President of the United States, Donald Trump, has asked the U.S Supreme Court to revive his Muslim ban – he gave an executive order barring entry for people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for 90 days while the U.S. government implements stricter visa screening in March.
It was blocked by courts that found it was discriminatory – but last night Trump’s team filed two emergency applications seeking to block two different lower court rulings.
“We have asked the Supreme Court to hear this important case and are confident that President Trump’s executive order is well within his lawful authority to keep the nation safe and protect our communities from terrorism,” Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said in a statement.
At least five votes are needed on the nine-justice court in order to grant a stay. If the government’s request is granted, the ban would go into effect.

A woman’s diabolic strategy to not paying the N7 million she owed her business partner has landed her in police custody in the Ashanti Region.
According to reports, Madam Joyce Antwi borrowed N7 million from her business partner to enable her expand her business – her deadline to return the loan was fixed for April 2017. Rather than pay back the loan, Madam Joyce made arrangements to assassinate the lender.
Police say Madam Joyce Antwi hired an assassin to kill her business partner Instead of paying back the owed sum, she hired a man she thought was an assassin for N365, 000 to kill the business partner.
Antwi paid an advance fee of N150,000 to the man and showed him the house of her business partner. With a promise to pay the balance as soon as the job was done. She then advised him to carry out the killing in the afternoon when her business partner’s husband and children would not be at home.
The contracted “assassin” then reported Madam Antwi to the police and she was swiftly arrested. She is said to have admitted to the crime in her caution statement.
Controversial imprisoned journalist, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo has accused the chief registrar attached to the Port Harcourt Division of the Federal High Court of sitting on her case in order to keep her perpetually behind bars, despite having allegedly met her bail conditions.
Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo spoke from inside Port Harcourt Prison where she has been remanded since her initial arraignment in mid-March for alleged criminal defamation against a Port-Harcourt-based preacher, David Ibiyeomie.
In a chat with PREMIUM TIMES inside the office of the Comptroller of Prisons in Rivers State, Ifeanyi Amaliri, last week, Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo stated that her lawyers had satisfied all bail requirements set by H.I.O. Shamah, a federal judge who granted her bail on April 11.
She said she had strong indications to believe the deputy chief registrar was sitting on her case on alleged orders of some powerful interests.
But the court registrar said the accused’s bail paperwork was still being perfected by her lawyers, with whom she said she had been in constant touch with.
Maimunat Folami, the Deputy Chief Registrar, strongly denied the allegations, stating that her office had cooperated fully with Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo’s counsel to ensure proper vetting of her bail documents.
“We have done everything that we’re supposed to do,” Ms. Folami said. “This allegation is very strange.”
“I have to do all the works of ensuring that all the documents are put in place.
Even if the documents are put in place, we still have to conduct certain investigations, like verifying the addresses of the sureties to be sure they are who they say they are.”
Ms. Folami also said Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo’s case file was taken away the last time her matter was heard on May 23. Although the judge was absent, the case file was not returned to her office, causing further delay in working out the final details of Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo’s release.
Peter Nkanga, the West Africa representative of the U.S.-based Committee to Protect Journalists, condemned Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo’s continued incarceration for over 78 days and counting, despite all bail conditions met since May 11, including signing an undertaking not to jump bail.
“It is an outrage that the judiciary can be taking over three weeks and counting to verify Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo’s bail requirements, at the expense of her freedom,” Mr. Nkanga told PREMIUM TIMES.
Fatai Lawal of Afe Babalola Chambers, which is representing Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo, spoke to PREMIUM TIMES but declined to blame the registrar for the challenges faced in perfecting his client’s bail requirements.
“We’re confident about her possible release this week,” he said.
A team of police officers first arrested Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo in Ibadan on March 13. She was whisked to Port Harcourt where she was arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Port-Harcourt. The case was later transferred to the Federal High Court.
Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo, however, spoke positively about the prison officials.
They have done an excellent job taking care of me and ensuring that I don’t starve and my health does not deteriorate, she said.
There was mild drama at the Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court on Thursday after a 58-year-old textile dealer, Mrs. Taiwo Momoh, was discharged for offences bordering on attempted suicide.
After the court announced that her case had been dismissed as recommended by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Momoh stepped out of the dock, knelt down and started giving praises to God.
Immediately she got out of the court, she covered her face with two sets of clothes and hastened towards the back gate of the court. After flinging the gates open, a resident asked if she was in purdah, which she denied and ran off with her face still covered.
One of her counsel said she wanted to avoid the harassment of journalists and people in the community. Momoh had accumulated debts of over N18m after a bureau de change operator allegedly fled with money belonging to her Swiss creditor.
Her shop was also reportedly burgled around the time, which led to frustration and depression. She claimed that efforts to see her pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God over her challenges did not yield fruit.
Momoh said she left her house late March and headed for the lagoon, adding that she had removed her shoes and was about to take a dive into the water when she was rescued and handed over to operatives of the Rapid Response Squad.
The police subsequently transferred the matter to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, where she was detained for three days.
The case was later charged to court. After the first arraignment, Momoh cried out for help, saying she could not explain why she attempted suicide.
On Thursday, when the matter came up for hearing at the magistrates’ court, she was represented by two counsel, F.A. Azeez and Eniola Disu, both of the Office of the Public Defender.
A prosecutor from the state Ministry of Justice, Mrs. A.T. Olaleye, announced that the DPP had issued advice on the matter.
“I am directed to inform this court that legal advice has been issued on the matter,” she said.
The magistrate, Tajudeen Elias, after skimming through the advice in the case file, said the charges had been dismissed.
“By the DPP’s advice, the defendant is hereby discharged and acquitted,” he said.

Abortion is not a sin

Don’t ask me for advice on what to do with your unwanted pregnancy because I will tell you to go for a D&C. You see, I am not going to be amongst the women who tell you to keep a baby you are not psychologically or emotionally prepared for.
I do not believe the whole hogwash story that once the baby is born, he will end up being a blessing. Neither do I believe in the bullshit theory that once you hold the baby in your hands, you will be enveloped with so much love.
African people has made it a point of duty to tell anyone seeking help for their unwanted pregnancies that, they should keep the baby. Why? Because they assume abortion is a sin ?
Until people start allowing others make choices that are better for them, we will continue to hear stories of women who abadoned their babies in cartons and single mothers lying about having children just to get married.
See, those women who dump their children should not be called wicked because someone directly or indirectly advised them to keep a pregnancy they Didn’t want.
Once they had the baby, the people who gave them such stupid advise left to live their lives and reality hit them. I can assume that once they held the baby in their hands, they didn’t feel that love people spoke off and all they felt was regret and disdain.
Every unborn child deserves a mother who is psychologically ready for him/her. It is unfair to the unborn child to say abortion is a sin. Not every woman deserves to be mother so stop forcing it on every woman you see.

Sudanese Model, Nyakim Gatwech nicknamed “The Queen of The Dark” might not be as dark as portrayed after all.. She was nicknamed Queen of Dark, thanks to her charcoal dark skin, which we all nearly believed to be true.
However, some fans are questioning her skin colour after she shared a picture she took with her mother, and she looked a bit lighter in the photo.
Fans at large are wondering if she’s indeed dark, or the images were she appeared dark is the work of photoshop.
Above is a photo she took with her colleague, and Below is the photo she took with her mum…. She looks lighter in the photos;

Abubakar Amuda-Kannike (Kwara-APC) has proposed 6-months imprisonment for any persons who scatters or distort queues in public places.
The bill proposing 6-months jail term for such offenders has scaled second reading at the House of Representatives. While leading on the debate, Abubakar said that the bill sought to ensure that Nigerians conducted themselves orderly in public places.
Amuda-Kannike said that it was normal practice for some Nigerians to shunt or distort queues and go unpunished.
He expressed worry that recent events had shown that Nigeria was on the verge of losing its cherished sense of nationalism, cultural identity and hospitality.
“The bill underscores the need to re-awaken a derailed national culture by proposing disciplinary measures to guide Nigerians in their daily behaviours.
In our society today, out of total disregard for other persons, who strive to do the right thing by conducting themselves orderly in public places, a large number of Nigerians distort queues and go unpunished.
The bill if passed shall provide a starting point of value and cultural re-orientation in Nigeria,” the lawmaker said.
He expressed optimism that the bill if passed, future generations would have a more sane society that would help to shape morals, principles and respect for each other in addition to adequate awareness on what constitute nationhood.
He decried the prevailing level of corruption, indiscipline, disrespect to elders and the rule of law in the country.
“The bill underscores the need to re-awaken the derailed national culture by proposing disciplinary measures to guide Nigerians in their daily behaviours,” Amuda-Kannike said.
Contributing, Rep. Sam Onuigbo (Abia-PDP) said that the bill would also ensure orderliness, equity, fairness and justice in the distribution of services in the country.
Rep. Ayo Omidiran (Osun-APC) said, “by being orderly in all our activities, we will be transmitting good behavioural pattern to generations and this will promote a better society.”

Just so you know, my breasts didn’t start growing at the time I had anticipated. When I was in primary 5, my chest region was as flat as a new-born. There were no signs my breasts were going to grow. I didn’t even have a large nipple. Most of the girls in my class had well-rounded tits sitting comfortably on their chest.
To make matters worse, there was a fat boy in my class who had breasts (probably because of his weight). I didn’t like him one bit as he had something I wasn’t able to have yet. I desperately wanted breasts as I believed having them would initiate me into a certain kind of womanhood cult every girl ought to belong to.
I decided to take matters into my hands so I asked for help from the expert. Toyosi was the girl with the biggest boobs in my class back then so I asked her how I was supposed to grow some and she gave me the ultimate breast enlarging solution.
She told me to apply palm oil on my nipples and find a black ant to bite me on the spot where I applied the palm oil. She explained the swelling will make them grow out and assured me of the efficacy of the remedy as she had gotten it from her mother. I couldn’t get the black ant I caught to bite me on my nipples. For whatsoever reason, the ant didn’t find me good enough to be bitten.
By the time I entered Jss2, I still had no breasts and my period had not even started. I gave up on my breasts dream and figured I would be the first woman without breasts and periods.
I had already accepted my fate and took my mind off the possibility that I would be a well-endowed busty girl. Just when I had given up hope, my breasts started coming out. The whole situation reaffirmed the fact that most times, we get that thing we desperately want when we stop obsessing over it.
My breasts came out but they didn’t come out the way I anticipated. They were small and pointed downwards. I grew up seeing women who had well-rounded breasts that pointed forward so I imagined that was how it would be for me.
Someone close to me says I have banana breasts. My “boobs” are saggy and small. They do not stand but point downwards. I hated my body for a long while and I wasn’t comfortable with my appearance. I kept trying all sorts of breasts enlarging and firming creams that just didn’t work.
I have been told to avoid V-necked shirt so my boobs don’t show. I have been told to avoid taking pictures from the neck down. I have been told to hide my breast as they were unattractive. I have been told to wear bras to bed. I have been given all sorts of recommendations.
I did all I was told to do till I realized that nothing is going to change because this is just how I am. Every woman is different and our body parts come in different shapes and sizes. Just like some men have small p*nis and others have fairly big ones so do some women have different breasts sizes and shape.
This is not a cry for help. I do not need your home remedies for sagging breasts. Neither do I need your breasts enlargement cream or your recommendation of the perfect surgeon. My sagging boob isn’t as a result of the number of men I have slept with.
It also has nothing to do with the number of abortions I may or may not have had. Science is yet to prove the relationship between sagging breasts, abortions and sex. Till science does, I am right to say my sagging boob is a natural phenomenon.
I am comfortable with my body and there’s no shame in admitting how my body shape is. Self-love is very hard especially when we are being surrounded with altered images and edited content. Self-love is hard because the moment you try to be confident in your own body, you are shamed for it.
I have seen it all on Instagram. I have seen how people insult celebrities that dare display their sagging breasts or “show-off” their huge well-rounded tits. The other day, Laura Ikeji deactivated her comment section because people trolled her sales manager who wore a revealing cloth. In their words “how can she display her breasts that are not even standing?” Someone went further to say “they have sucked the life out of her breasts”.
Self-love is hard but I am loving myself nonetheless. I am a 20-something year old with sagging boobs. I will wear V-necked shirts, I will take pictures of my body how I like and no, I will not wear bras all the time because my breasts need to breathe!

Very Influential politician and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has revealed how his wife subjected him to a “cruel” and “unjust” punishment for being late to dinner.
Femi took to his Instagram to share the photos and also narrated the story of how he was punished by his wife, Precious after he came home late to dinner yesterday – ‘A dash of lipstick on his lips for the rest of the evening.’
Here’s how he narrated the story on social media;
“A dash of Madame’s lipstick on my lips for the rest of the evening! That is the cruel and unjust punishment that was meted out to me by her simply for being late for dinner.
“We men go through hell! We are being subjected to the worst atrocities and the most profoundly gross violation of our human rights! And don’t you dare laugh!!! I may have to write about this in my next essay.”
They were killed at the wee hours of Monday when their Letter N Junction, Radio Area, Erunwen residence in Ikorodu was invaded.
Reports have it that, after they killed the pregnant woman, they opened her womb, and went away with her unborn baby.
One of the family members, said to be an SS3 student, who survived the attack, was said to be battling for her life at a specialist hospital (names withheld).
She was found naked and unconscious on Tuesday morning with a black cloth around her head.
It was gathered that the assailants used mortar and pestle to smash their victims’ heads.
Condemning the killings, Coordinator, Ikorodu Ambassadors, Rasheed Fatuga said the Badoo issue must be addressed urgently.
He decried the passive manner the issue has been handled, calling on the police, government, traditional and other institutions to act fast before it got out of hands.
He said:
“How long will this continue, what is their mission and purpose? Why kill families? What for? What gain? So sad!
“A kitchen mortar is a device used to prepare ingredients or substances by crushing and grinding them. It is shocking and sad to see that Badoo gang hasn’t been neutralised.
“What happens in a community where constituted authorities cannot provide security of lives and properties? What is the function of the Ikorodu Police Divisions when they cannot give us peace of mind?
“What is the essence of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad patrolling Ikorodu 24/7 looking for only Yahoo-Boys up and down?
“And where are the Ikorodu Youths, that are supposed to take the Badoo issue as their priority, talk about it on social media every time, forward the news to the Lagos State Government’s platforms, stand up against these negligible acts? They are nowhere to be found.
“Instead, they are busy carrying posters of politicians on their heads, politicians/leaders that are responsible for all this suffering in the first place.
“Kudos to the Vigilante Group of Ikorodu, they have been awesome, but they cannot do it all. They don’t have the resources. We need to re-orientate and equip them.
“We use this opportunity to call on our community, religious and political leaders to neutralise this ugly situation as soon as possible.
“Also we are calling on Ikorodu indigenes/ambassadors all over the world, muslim community, christian associations, traditional worshippers, market men, women and all mothers in Ikorodu to stand up now. Remember, POSTERITY is watching you all!”
Continuing, Fatuga said the murderous gang usually explored easy access, houses without burglary proofs and isolated.
He said:
“The Badoo gang usually looks for easy access. They look for houses without burglary proofs, incomplete, areas where there are few houses, so that even when victims scream for help in distress, they get none.
“It hasn’t been easy identifying and detecting the notorious gang because they don’t carry weapons on them when walking. They depend and use sharp objects and equipment that can hurt victims to do their damages.
“Always challenge and report any suspicious person(s)/activities around your environment to your landlord or Community Development Association (CDA), then they can report to the necessary authorities.
“If you notice any stranger(s) parading around your house/area, call on your neighbours, approach them politely, ask questions, then call on elders, landlord or CDA representatives to intervene and hinder necessary actions.”
Contacted, the command’s spokesman, Olarinde Famous-Cole, an Assistant Superintendent (ASP) said investigation was ongoing to arrest the culprits.

A Nigerian man has shared details on Facebook about how an ATM he used today, 1st June dispensed N5 note as a N500 note.
Read Below what he shared, with photos;
Be Careful at ATM
My personal experience today, Thursday, 1st June,2017.
I used my card at a GTB ATM this morning to draw some cash and to my amazement, a N5 note was pushed out alongside N500 notes to make up my total drawn amount.
I felt embarrassed seeing this and complained to the customer service / Manager. It was resolved after wasting my time to establish that it really happened.
My advice, always check your cash before leaving ATM and once notice such, use your phone to snap it as an evidence.

“Increasing taxes and levies on tobacco products can reduce its consumption and generate revenue which can be used to finance universal health coverage and other developmental health programme,” he said.
Speaking, country representative of the WHO, Wondi Alemu noted that tobacco use is one of the leading predisposing factors for non-communicable diseases in the country.

A Ghanaian woman, Joyce Antwi, has been arrested by Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region for hiring a man to kill her business partner in Kumasi.
