Since the picture has gone vial, Nigerians have criticized the governor, demanding for the usefulness of the wheelbarrows to the youth which was branded as “Gov Ortom for you”. A YBL Commenter said:
“Maybe he should handover one of the barrows to his first son as a leading character, then other youth will emulate..let his son be a barrow pusher first..yeye dey smell”
While the Benue State Government has yet to respond to the issue, online publication, Idoma Voice, reports that a member of the All Progressives Congress and councilorship aspirant in the forthcoming local government election in Benue State, Dan Atayi, has described the pictures as “handiwork of Adobe PhotoShop experts.”
Atayi, who is vying for councillorship seat in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state, said the pictures, which are currently trending on social media, were targeted at rubbishing Governor Samuel Ortom’s integrity.
Reacting to a post on Facebook, Atayi said,
“The administration of Gov Ortom at the state level and that of President Buhari at the Federal level, are keen at encouraging agriculture.
“Today, the women and youths of Eke Ward of Okpokwu LGA of Benue are happy that cassava grains (garri) per basin is now #11000 as against #1500 per basin a year ago.
“All what you see here are Photoshop and not real.”
UPDATE: Find Below a statement from the Chief Press Secretary of the Benue State Government.
ORTOM DID NOT APPROVE INSCRIPTION ON WHEELBARROWS
The attention of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has been drawn to pictures of wheelbarrows bearing his name and posted on social media suggesting that he plans to empower youths of the state with the carts.
We wish to make it clear that the consent of the Governor was not sought and he did not give approval for anyone to inscribe his name on the said wheelbarrows.
Governor Ortom is aware that the wheelbarrows in possession of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA were recently donated to the state by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRMI, for victims of crisis in parts of the state so he couldn’t have claimed credit for the gesture.
The Ortom administration has numerous laudable empowerment schemes for youths of Benue but the donation of wheelbarrows to the youths is not one of such schemes.
Consequently, the Governor has directed Secretary to the State Government to issue a query to the Executive Secretary of SEMA to explain why the said action was taken by his office.
Governor Ortom has also directed the agency to immediately remove the inscription from all the affected wheelbarrows.
A lady who says she used to be one of Tonto Dikeh‘s domestic staff, Ezekiel Rachel has come to the defense of her former boss against the actress’s estranged nanny who called her out about two days ago.
According to Ezekiel, Tonto is one of the best boss to work with, adding that the actress supported her till she left for school.
She wrote on her page:

Former Tonto Dikeh PA as of 2007 to 2009 before I gain admission into higher institution, I decided to keep calm about all the things people say about Tonto Dikeh but I changed my mind hearing what nanny said about Tonto Dikeh. It griefs me when I see people seeking notice/ attention of others through another person, please like I said earlier that I worked with Tonto Dikeh for 3years.

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 21-year-old JAMB candidate for being in possession of a gun at one of the centres at the ongoing JAMB UTME in Nasarrawa State.
Mr Bashir Lawal-Kano, the state commandant of the NSCDC, told newsmen in Lafia on Thursday that the suspect was arrested at the Nasarawa State Polytechnic centre during a search at the entrance to the hall.
Lawal-Kano said that the suspect was arrested on Tuesday after he was found to be in possession of a locally-made pistol and two rounds of live ammunition.
He said upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that someone gave him the gun for safe keeping.
He said that the suspect would be charged to court for illegal possession of firearms, adding that even registered guns were not allowed at examination centres.
Lawal-Kano also said the command had arrested one Mohammed Alakayi from Doma Local Government Area of the state for allegedly posing as a recruitment agent for the NSCDC.
According to him, the command has received several complaints from the public over alleged cases of fake recruitment.
“We have had reports of some criminal elements posing as our recruitment agents and following our intelligence, we arrested the suspect with full uniform of NSCDC and forged recruitment forms,” he said.
He said that five witnesses had testified that the suspect collected between N 4,000 and N15,000 each from them under the pretext that he was going to get them job with the command.
“We are therefore charging him to court for impersonation and fraud as soon as investigation is completed, ” Lawal-Kano said.
He, however, appealed to job seekers, especially those desiring to join the NSCDC, to be watchful and disregard any information concerning recruitment coming from any other source apart from the command or its headquarters.

Veteran actress & Evangelist Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as ‘MAMA GEE’ explained in an interview how she was forced into marriage at 19.
She revealed that her mother wanted her to get married on time as she was from a polygamous home.
In an interview with a Ghana television station, RTV, she shared that she was not brought up to disobey or rule out her parents’ orders.
she said:
“It was not my decision [to get married at 19]. And if it’s not my decision it means I was forced into it.
I was forced into it many years ago, and I did not see any reason my parents were forcing me as I was still young.
And even at that age I had so many suitors. You know when you come from a polygamous family and your mother is struggling for her own daughters to get married and this other one is also struggling for her own daughters to get married and when this one [suitor] came around and my mother said go and I could not make a choice. I was not allowed to make a choice. At the end, I had to obey my parents.
I was not brought up to disobey them at all.
When asked if she enjoyed the marriage after she obliged her parents push, she added, Sincerely speaking as a Christian I did not. The marriage was not easy at all for me as a young girl, it was not easy.
She said no matter all she went through in the marriage she had to stay on because her parents eyes were on her and could not jump from one man to the other.
Patience further advised women to remain in their matrimonial homes no matter what, adding that the only reason a woman should separate from her husband is when life is involved.”
Reacting via an Instagram post, Juliet insisted that violence is wrong, and there’s no excuse for hitting a woman. Read Her full note below:
KARMA IS A BITCH! When it comes barking up your own tree or in ur family ; please preach ur wisdom that time… #whatApity and we call ourselves celebrities! When people decide to sit and form advisers they should think twice before talking honestly.
What’s the meaning of “a man hits a woman it’s called domestic violence and when a woman hits a man it’s called what?” MADAM, it’s the same domestic violence either ways and what we have been preaching since day one is the fact that no one should get to the point of hitting another being in the name of anger or rage! Violence is WRONG!
There is no excuse! Violence should NEVER EVER BE THE OPTION OR CHOICE!!! there is NO REASON IN THE WORLD FOR A MAN OR WOMAN TO GET PHYSICAL ON ANOTHER Person!
Domestic Violence which is an abuse comes in several forms could be emotional or physical as well; sadly we do NOT SEE THE EMOTIONAL ABUSE ON MOST; what most people are preaching against lately is the fact that people can’t SEEM TO CONTROL ANGER AND GET OUT OF VIOLENT RELATIONSHIPS!
No one is sitting around happy about victims ( both male and female) being attacked and killed brutally ; what we are standing firm against is the fact that We as humans need to see the signs and exit the relationship immediately we notice the signs or speak to the rightful authorities before it is Too Late!
How dare you try to justify why another person will get physically violent on another till it leads to death or getting burnt! Are you even aware that RAPE IS also a form of violence ? Would you sit in ur seat and preach that ladies that get raped are the ones bringing it upon themselves? Is that ur mindset? YOU WOULD BLAME A LADY FOR GETTING RAPED ?
Shouldn’t you be preaching against rape and violence in general rather than justifying the Act? Haven’t you seen photos of women who were murdered after being raped? Is it the woman’s fault that some guy couldn’t control his urge????
Would you also sit and advise that every one should pick up guns and go to war because they were offended by another country??? #sayNotodomesticviolence against women or men! We preach against it! VIOLENCE SHOULD NEVER BE THE END RESULT!
Nigeria’s Miss Anne-Marie Osawemwemze Imafidon will on Friday be decorated by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, with the prestigious honour of Member of the Most Excellent British Empire (MBE) for her services to young women with specialty in Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
The eldest daughter of Prof. Chris and Ann Imafidon from Edo State whose family has been dubbed the Brainiest Family in Europe, Anne-Marie holds the record of being the youngest girl to ever pass two GCSE examinations — for Mathematics and Information Technology and A-level computing at the age of 11 in Britain.
An MBE is an award given by the Queen to an individual for outstanding service to the community or local hands on service.
Due to her high exceptional brilliance, she received a British Scholarship to study Mathematics at the John Hopkins University at the age of 13 in 2003.
Two years later, she commenced a degree at Oxford University after which she enrolled for her Masters degree setting another record of the youngest Masters degree holder from the Ivy league university.
Imafidon, who is a multi-linguist, speak six languages and has worked with Goldman Sachs, Hewlett-Packard, Deutsche Bank, and Lehman Brothers.
In 2013, she founded Stemettes, a social enterprise which inspires the next generation of women into pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with an objective to break barriers women who pursue a career in the field face.
Stemettes, which grants awards to young women, have programs workshops and events designed to introduce young women to STEM careers, concepts, and role models, have attracted over 7000 young women from across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
Imafidon’s rather unique achievements at a young age has stood her out as a person to watch out for by the British press; she was named on Evening Standard’s recent list of ’25 under 25s’ and a Guardian ‘Top 10 women in tech you need to know’ as well as being the UK IT Industry & British Computer Society’s Young IT Professional of the Year in 2013.
Her father, Professor Chris Imafidon, known as the patriarch of Britain’s brainiest family, said he received the news last year of her inclusion in the 2017 honours list with shock.
“Like every parent would feel, we are still in shock. This is simply God-orchestrated. I, personally never believed that her young career would accelerate to this historic height. This is beyond belief,” he said in a chat.
The Imafidon family definitely have the achievers blood running in their DNA as not only Anne-Marie dominates their achievements wall of fame. Her sister, Christina, 24, is the youngest student to ever get accepted and study at an undergraduate institution at any British university at 11; another sister, Samantha, 17, having passed two rigorous high school-level mathematics and statistics exams at the age of six, while the twins, Peter and Paul, made British history as the youngest students to ever enter high school when they became the youngest to ever pass the University of Cambridge’s advanced mathematics exam, setting world records by passing the A/AS-level math papers.
With the Imafidon family has been setting across the world, he advised parents to change their methods of education in an obvious changing world in order to explore every child’s gifts and talents.
“The same God has given every child gifts and talents. We parents must join the ExcellenceinEducation.org.uk in developing such massive potential. As stated in my forthcoming book entitled “The Genius in You”, we can’t use the old methodology of learning. Schools and society must wake to the re-engineered system of education that understands that there is a genius in every child and greatness in every adult. This genius is irrespective of ethnicity, gender, nationality, postcode, class or creed. So every family can equal or exceed our achievements.”
Prof Chris Imafidon who invented this accelerated academic and career development path, has tested it on people of diverse race and it produced the same or improved result and achievement as attain by his children. He stated that some of this exceptional educative methods are including in his book, “The Genuis in you.”
He revealed that he will be visiting Nigeria very soon to launch the learning methodology to enable Nigerian parents learning of their winning ways while Anne-Marie will be expand Stemettes to also offer Nigeria young girls interested in pursuing a career in STEM an opportunity to realize their dreams while he
“Our grandparents taught us that charity begins at home. We are very enthusiastic about Africa and must contribute our quota to the training and education of young minds. We want to launch a bigger program in Africa, particularly Nigeria and work with the corporate community, industry leaders so that we can deploy the re-engineered learning methodology of www.ExcellenceinEducation.org.uk program. We know that with these programs young Nigerians can equal or exceed our record-breaking achievement. The next generation of Africans have no choice but excel because there is a genius in everyone.”
Others Nigerians who will also be honoured this year include Prof. Elizabeth Nneka Anionwu, a Professor of Nursing, who gets an OBE for her services to nursing and the Mary Seacole statue appeal, Chris Ofili, an artist who gets a CBE for his services to arts and Jeremiah Oluwatosin Ayotunde, a Cadet Colour Sergeant who gets an OBE for his services to young people and the community of London. According to reports, Embattled Film Marketer and ex-boyfriend to Nollywood Actress, Toyin Aimahku, Seun Egbegbe has spent 100 days in prison
The alleged fraudster continues to spend more and more days in the four walls of Ikoyi Prisons where he has taken residence. His family and friends have not been able to secure his bail.
According to reports, sources close to Egbegbe, Friends and benefactors have abandoned him, with many claiming they don’t want to have anything to do with a “public fraudster”. They’ve left him to bear his cross alone “Now, the frequency of people visiting him in the prison has reduced drastically. All his friends and followers have deserted him.” – The reports noted.
They are afraid of being implicated. It is only his heavily pregnant girlfriend, Nikky Berry and his parents that visit him now.
They still prepare his food from home. Most of his girlfriends and those he supports financially have deserted him. Nikky is the only girl left with him now” the source said.
In addition, no one wants to stand as surety for Egbegbe due to the strict nature of the bail conditions.
According to the source: “Things are not as expected at all. He earlier thought it was a child’s play. It’s now he understands better the kind of situation he is in. I learnt that his family has since been running from pillar to post to get him out of detention, but their efforts are yet to yield the desired results as nobody is ready to stand as surety for him because of the stringent conditions attached.”
Recall that Seun Egbege was arrested for allegedly defrauding some Bureau De Change operatives of over N40 million, between 2016 and February 2017.
He has been granted bail since February of N5 million with two sureties each in a sum of N2.5 million.
Justice Oguntoyinbo of the Federal High Court in Lagos ruled that Mr. Egbegbe be granted bail once he meets his bail requirements.
Governor of Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom has reportedly empowered the youths of the state with wheelbarrows tyesterday.
Photos of the wheelbarrows have since gone viral on social media with many asking why he has chosen to empower the Youths of Benue State in such way!
Meanwhile, the governor has given his opinion on how to end the farmers-herdsmen crisis in Nigeria. Speaking in Abuja while He said banning of open grazing and the provision of infrastructures for cattle ranching are the only lasting solutions to the crisis between farmers and herdsmen in Nigeria.
“Benue state is an agrarian state – the food basket of the nation – and we have no industries. We have no other means of livelihood except farming so it becomes very tasking to support open grazing and farming together.
“The increase in Nigeria’s population has led to increase in human activities; more road networks, more hospitals, more settlement, more farming etc. And the land is not increasing proportionately.
“For us in Benue state, today, if you go there today, there are no empty lands for grazing. So, when herdsmen come to do open grazing, there is no way, no matter how hard they try to control their animals, (these are animals; they are not human beings) they derail to peoples’ farms and then crisis ensue.

Nollywood Actress, Empress Njamah has declared that men shouldn’t be entirely blamed when there’s issue of domestic violence in a relationship.
According to her, sometimes the women torment men mentally. She said women should learn to help men manage their anger.
“There are Men who are more beaten up emotionally than the women they beat up physically. Some women are headstrong and can traumatize their men mentally that they don’t know when they hit in anger.
A man might have experienced one or two things growing up. These Men need us to be supportive. Women should help these Men control their anger. Stop getting advise from single women, don’t let them mislead you, instead read books……Men are Babies, they wanted to be treated like babies and that is why some go on to cheat when their wives are frustrating them”

The 35-year-old actress got married to an American-based Nigerian businessman, Phillip in 2008. She walked out of the marriage in September, 2014, following accusations of domestic violence and cheating.
Speaking on ‘Rubbing Minds’ a Channel Television programme, the actress cited irresolvable differences and incompatibility as the major reasons for the crash of her marriage.
Ini Edo said that closeness should have, may be, saved her marriage since her former husband was in America and she in Nigeria. “He was the last child, so family members will try to see if their child is doing okay. “I try not to regret (the time I spent in marriage) but I will say, it’s been an experience I have learnt a lot from. In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, night outs now compete favorably with Christian vigils, where the faithful congregate at various churches for all-night supplication to their God.
The FCT is not only wearing the identity of the seat of power as the political capital of Nigeria, it is also a city where young ladies, seasoned politicians and “big boys” enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Abuja is now more than a city where the wealthy intimidate fellow citizens with exotic cars. It is now a city where young men and women unwind at different nightclubs, a place where clubbing provides the antidote for residents to beat the stressful effects of recession.
Ultimately, FCT is fast turning into a place where fun seekers throng multiple joints to satisfy their erotic desires. Therefore, residents who have never hanged out or enjoyed an all-night thrill at the club might not have known the other face of the city called Abuja.
For non-initiates, it would be difficult to believe that a sane human being, especially residents of Abuja crying and struggling to overcome harsh economic realities and recession, would overlook the numerous churches and mosques spread across the town for the spiritual needs of the people, but would rather devote time and spend a fortune at nightclubs in the capital city.
Similarly, for a category of people, recession and economic adversities seem not to have affected clubbing or other social activities in Abuja.
Abuja is really gifted with nightclubs that can compete favourably with others elsewhere in other parts of the world. Abuja nightclubs are certainly not the venues for men and women with the spirit of God, for the feeble minds and for paupers.
It takes determination to witness first hand that clubbing is more than dancing inside the club. Once inside Abuja nightclubs especially on Friday nights, be prepared for anything other than celestial. The nightclub culture is thriving such that it is now reminiscent of the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah.
From Utako, Jabi, Gwarimpa, Kubwa to Wuse and other parts of the FCT, the nightclub scene is almost the same. On arrival, ladies of different shapes and sizes, beautiful, ugly, fair-complexioned, chocolate or ebony-black, top and bottom-heavy would seductively smile at you invitingly.
At most clubs, alternative provisions have been made for those that lack the confidence and financial power to enjoy the live band and dance away any worries with the call girls and professional dancers ready to go to any level. However, men and women of sterner stuff belong to the main club hall, where the ‘main event’ happens and where exploits would sweep you off your feet.
Inside the main club, ladies in skimpy dresses and see-through miniskirts would welcome you with seductive dance steps or hugs. However, it is usually a preamble to the real thing in the heart of the club, where strippers and stark naked ladies send signals that you are right inside the home of the debauchery incarnate.
It is always a breathtaking sight to see a large number of Nigerian youths and foreigners enjoying the thrills and the lasciviousness of the setting. They eagerly pay any amount for exploration and extreme excitement.
Inside the clubs are such settings as strategically mounted televisions showing pornographic videos, prostitutes skimpily dressed in undies alone or revealing dresses, and nude strippers entertaining clubbers with acrobatic pole dances.
Other features include watertight security, live sex acts, nude dances, expensive alcoholic drinks and other edible items and the drama of prostitutes snatching the clubbers from the ladies they came with.
Pre-club episodes
Driving along the deserted Umaru Yar’Adua expressway, popularly called Airport Road, at 11pm might discourage new clubbers as the road invokes images of night marauders and danger.
With only a few vehicles on the well-lit road and minimal human presence, a chicken-hearted person would certainly realise that he is taking a big risk that could send him to the land of the unknown. However, for a true clubber, the promise of fun and ecstasy at the destination nightclub inside the town would not only eclipse the memories of the deserted Airport Road but also leave fond memories that more than satiate any desires of mind and body of clubbers.
Deciding the club to attend is never a problem to clubbers, rather, their financial muscle and the grade of the club are usually the major determinant of the one to patronise. Once at the Berger roundabout, nightclubs abound in Abuja, with Utako, Wuse, Jabi, and Gwarimpa, among others, providing viable options.
On arrival at the nightclub along Okonjo-Iweala Road, the multitude of persons along the road leave you in no doubt that you are at the right place. Neatly parked cars and scarlet ladies geared up to get your attention for patronage would heighten ones curiosity.
Guaranteed security from the entrance
You would be dead wrong thinking that entrance into the venue is a thoroughfare, as the presence of stern-looking, unfriendly bouncers would caution anyone with nefarious intent to look elsewhere for their evil intentions.
Men are scanned thoroughly before gaining entrance into the compound. But security checks don’t stop at the gate. Clubbers are equally screened at the door to the main club. The possibility of anyone with devilish intent succeeding in carrying out any attack on other clubbers is very slim. The only time the bouncers’ make friendly request for one favour or the other is perhaps when the clubbers step out of the club.
Actions inside the clubs
Once inside the gate after the screening, clubbers must decide whether to settle down outside and enjoy the vibes of the live band playing all genres of music, from reggae to highlife, or enter the main arena, where the whole action takes place.
Resolving to camp outside is usually a wise decision, for the sake of financial prudence, as the clubbers would most likely spend less there. However, joining the ‘happening crowd’ inside the main club guarantees full enjoyment, with heavy financial implications.
Once inside, one thing that might abuse ones sensibility would be the dress sense of people there, especially the ladies. The erogenous dresses, including those of the bar attendants and waitresses, would perhaps put the clubber in the mood for a taste of what to enjoy during his entire stay inside the club.
On settling down, waitresses would swarm around you like bees asking for your order and anything else you might want. Woe betides any man who enters the main club alone because, as he contends with the attendants, the seductive ladies go to war and outdo each other to get the clubber’s attention and claim them.
Three minutes inside the club is time enough to realise the magnitude of the man’s crisis. It is also the time allowed for the clubber to make up his mind. A clubber’s attention is torn between the pornographic videos, the strippers, the half-nude prostitutes, suffocating smoke from tobacco and other substances and disconcertingly exorbitant price of alcoholic drinks, with N15,000 as the least amount.
Depending on their carriage and charisma, the attendants direct clubbers to the VIP section, where more surprises await them. Every scene in the main club hall equally exists in the VIP, except for the live sex being performed to the admiration of patron.
After spending the three minutes grace period, bouncers would alert the clubber on the standing rule of consolidating his stay with the purchase of the outrageously-priced drinks, and failure to do so would attract automatic eviction from the club.
Strippers and prostitutes going berserk
The display by the strippers is one indispensible episode that perhaps attracts the attention of clubbers to the various clubs. For clubbers in need of emotional release, the strippers would provide the surest answer.
Cuddling a smooth, long pole in their G-strings and bra dress code, the strippers would swing round the pole from the top to the ground, spreading their legs wide during the process. After such several displays, some of them would seductively remove their undies completely and repeat the same display over and over again.
Done with the swinging, some of them would go from one clubber to the other, stripping seductively in front of them, faking sexual play and allowing them unrestrained access to intimately touch their bodies. Depending on the clubbers’ financial disposition, they would part with amounts ranging from N500 to N10,000 for the gesture.
The actions of the strippers and prostitutes, dancing seductively to the DJ’s carefully dished, mostly Nigerian, hit songs, would leave one to wonder whether money or professional satisfaction is their motive.
Ladies of all sizes, ages and shapes compete for clubbers’ attention. Provocative in their outfits and weird makeup, the ladies of the night show the stuff they are made of, doing the unthinkable to woo the clubbers. They aggressively solicit for sex openly for pecuniary benefits.
While some would hang out near the door of the convenience to appeal to any man wanting to ease himself, others boldly approach men to ask if they want to have sex, an action that is quite alien and un-African to some people.
An attendant at one of the clubs told Daily Sun that cases abound where the ladies snatched some men that came with their girlfriends and engaged them in quick sex.
Costly drinks
Whatever amount the clubbers save in not paying their way into the main club hall they would expend buying the inflated alcoholic drinks of all types. The prices for the drinks range from N30,000 to N300,000.
As a clubber summed it, “We are not paying for the drinks directly but the pornography and live sex we enjoyed.
Apart from the costly drinks, every other thing inside the club hall is very expensive, besides the erotic entertainment the clubbers enjoy from the prostitutes and strippers without paying directly. Some clubbers have, however, devised a means of beating the club owners at their game by combining to buy one bottle of expensive drink, which they share, and enjoy the dances and erotic games.
Taxi drivers making brisk business
Movement from one club to the other is not an issue that bothers clubs as an assemblage of taxi drivers in front of the clubs means that there is transportation at he patrons’ disposal. They solicit to take any willing passengers to any location around Abuja for a price. Once outside the club, the taxi drivers would fall on clubbers soliciting for patronage.
No security presence on major Abuja roads
Shock awaits anyone hoping to sight policemen on stop-and-search or patrol duty, especially along Airport Road at very late hours.
However, the roads are not always deserted as there is the occasional vehicle or two, especially in the wee hours; there is also the presence of police or other security agents, cruising in their patrol vansor parked in strategic locations.
