A 45-year-old applicant, Wahabi Sodiq, told an Igando Customary Court in a Lagos suburb on Thursday:
“I caught my wife in her shop cutting a man’s nails.”
Sodiq made the allegation while testifying in a divorce case filed by his wife, Kudirat, 44, a public bar operator, seeking dissolution of their 24-year-old marriage over threat to her life.
“I believe my wife is having extra marital affairs. I got to her shop and met her with a man who placed his legs on her table while my wife was cutting his nails.
“Immediately the man saw me, he quickly removed his legs from her table but I did not say anything; I left immediately.
“Since that day I became bitter because I felt cheated; I have given her Holy Bible and Quoran several times to swear that she was not dating the man but she refused,” he told the court.
On the allegation that he beats the woman, he denied, saying:
”I only beat my wife once since we got married and I did that because she assaulted me.
“Anytime my wife goes to her shop, she will not come home for days; she prefers sleeping in her shop.
“She also loves going to parties without my consent and whenever she returns and I queried her she will turn it to a fight.”
The husband, however, pleaded with the court not to grant his wife’s request for a dissolution of their marriage, saying “I still love her.”
Kudirat, responding to the husbands submission, said:
“My husband is always threatening to kill me and suffocate me to death with a pillow. I am always afraid to sleep at home and because of the fear, I packed some of my belongings back to my parent’s house”, she said.
The petitioner also accused her husband of planning to sell the house she laboured to build. She said,
“My husband called me on phone and threatened to sell my house if I refused to come back to our matrimonial home.”
Kudirat alleged that her husband was in the habit of chasing away her customers, accusing her of infidelity.
The mother of four, who said she had no emotion or love for him anymore, urged the court to dissolve the marriage.
The court’s President, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, ordered both parties to come along with three members of their families for a possible resolution and reunion at the next hearing date.

It was back then in Warri, Delta State. I was robbed on Val’s Day and it was not funny but I thank God I survived.
Last year when I was planning to having a splendid day with my girlfriend, my mother called and asked me to come home that we have a family meeting. Her calls were so persistent that I had to beg my Val to understand and cancel our date. She was not happy with me because she had gone shopping to look good for me. I tried to explain but she refused to understand. Meanwhile, I rushed off to Benin to see mum but there was no meeting of any sort. She was just missing her son and wanted me around. That was how I lost that relationship till date.
My most embarrassing valentine was when I secretly paid for a comedy show and got two tickets just to take my partner out and have fun but I didn’t know that he also had a surprise too. He secretly got a ticket for us to travel out and when he told me two days to Val’s Day to get my things ready I was happy but then sad that I lost the money I used in buying the VIP tickets for the comedy show.
I cant recall any embarrassing Val’s Day but I can remember one one that happened to a friend in Abuja. She had been with this guy for months not knowing he was married. On Val’s Day last year, unknown to the guy, his wife planned to pay him a surprise visit. My friend was in the kitchen cooking for the big day and hoping the guy wiould propose when madam entered and before my friend could say a word, madam asked who my friend was and he said ‘Honey, that is the new cook I told you about. Angela meet my wife.” My friend was so shocked that she nearly fainted. She looked at the guy’s finger and noticed he was wearing his wedding ring on for the first time. he slapped the guy and fled.
I entered a restaurant on Val’s Day to get something for myself. As I got in a guy left his sit and came straight to me and knelt down crying that I should please be his Val because he had nobody. I was like what? It was quite embarrassing because he caused a scene and people were just looking to know my next reaction. We later got talking and became good friends till now.
That was three years ago. I ordered for a cake a day before D-Day only for me to go pick it up on Val’s Day and receive the news that the outfit had moved to Lekki that morning. Meanwhile, I had told my lady to be ready for my surprise. I was really embarrassed.
I don’t have any embarrassing experience because my husband believes there is nothing special about Val’s Day so I don’t have any interesting story to share.
I was waiting for my ex at an eatery when a guy approached me for relationship. It was so weird I walked out on him. After a while, I stood up, headed to the restroom but unfortunately I fell down and the guy started making fun of me. I felt like crying.
The interesting thing is that Valentine’s Day is always fun for me because it is my birthday. I always have fun all the way so I have no embarrassing tale for now.
My dear, I don’t think I have had any such experience.. Valentine is always fun for me. No bad or embarrassing moments so far.

President Muhammadu Buhari has received leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in London, UK. Chief Bisi Akande and Chief Bola Tinubu paid a visit to President Buhari on Thursday, February 9 which confirms the status of the president being alive.
There had been rumour that President Buhari was dead over the past few days but these photos have refuted the claims. The president spoke with the APC leaders at the Abuja House in London.

The retired combatant brought his trusty phone in 2000 and claims that it only needs charging once every ten days.

The local Police in Greenwich are appealing for the public’s help to find a missing woman and her daughter. Folashade Fashinas, 34, has been missing from her home in Woolwich since Friday, 20 January.
Their statement declares that also missing is her seven-year-old-daughter, Precious Sebastian. Their description gives Folashade as a black, 5ft 4ins tall, medium build woman with dark curly hair. Her daughter Precious is black, of slim build with dark hair.
Folashade is believed to be frequenting the Streatham and Croydon areas.
Officers are increasingly concerned for their well being and would urge anyone with information on their whereabouts to call police on 101 or Missing People on 116000.
The Federal Government has said it has identified the cause of hike in prices of food items and adopted some measures to reduce it – this was revealed by the Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, on Wednesday while addressing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC.
Mr. Ogbeh said the task force set up to advise the government on how best to address the rising cost of food items across the country submitted an interim report to the council on Wednesday.
He said the committee had identified that the hike in cost is “not due to shortage but high cost of transportation”.
Food items are generally moved across Nigeria with heavy trucks and the price of diesel which has gone up has therefore, led to increase in prices.
He said the government had therefore, decided to “start using railway wagons to transport food items” to curb that.
The minister said the use of wagons to transport cattle from the north to Lagos has already greatly helped in reducing cost and will be replicated in food distribution.
“We will also work with state governments to reduce delays experienced by trucks along the roads through all sort of taxes by local governments,” he said.
Mr. Ogbeh also said the government has decided to adopt the “Ivory Coast model” in which trucks distributing food items are given special labels.

A married woman who is now proudly living as a transgender man has revealed how he overcame his/her fears and transitioned to a chiseled transgender bodybuilder.
Seven years ago, Cody Harman, 30, walked down the aisle in a wedding dress. According to him, he had always felt like a boy when he was a young girl and knew he shouldn’t be getting married but he was filled with fear of what other people would think if they knew he was transgender.
Cody, a chef from California, said:
“I knew I was doing the wrong thing by getting married – but I didn’t know how to tell everyone. I also knew I was attracted to girls but because my parents were very religious they made me think it was a sin, so I dated guys instead”
Cody was aged 20 when he met his construction worker husband through an internet dating website.
After a year of dating, Cody and Adam got married in 2008 with a traditional wedding. But their marriage crashed 3 years later and in 2012, Cody told his family and friends he was a lesbian and a year later told them he was transgender.
He said:
“I waited to tell them I was transgender because I thought it would be too much for them to cope with. My mum cried at first, but now she’s happy for me. I also met a great community of people online and I realized that I wasn’t alone.”
Cody underwent a mastectomy in 2014 and started taking male hormones prescribed by a doctor. Cody underwent a hysterectomy the following year and started lightweight training in 2016.

A Port Harcourt-based pastor, Gobari Maxwell, of the Believers’ Love World Ministry aka Christ Embassy Church was yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja High Court for allegedly defrauding one of his members, Osazuwa Okungbowa, of N4.5 million.
Maxwell, who superintends over one of the satellite churches led by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, was said to have tricked Okungbowa into believing that he would help him procure two plots of land near the Port Harcourt Polytechnic, Bori Camp.
A detective, Shedrach Ternenge Iyo, attached to the Cyber- Crime Section of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), told the court that the commission received a petition from the complainant sometime in September 2013, alleging that the pastor received N4.5 million from him through his wife’s First Bank account in bid to buy two plots of land.
Iyo, while being led in evidence by the prosecution, A. A. Adebayo, said the accused was not invited by the commission since he couldn’t be reached through the phone but was arrested in Port Harcourt and brought to Lagos for proper investigation.
According to the charge sheet, Maxwell allegedly committed the offence on June 12, 2012 at Ikeja Judicial Division by dishonestly converting the said sum to his personal use. He is facing a one-count charge of stealing contrary to Section 258(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, No. 11, 2011.
“During investigation, the agency sent a letter to the two banks which were used for the transaction; a First Bank account belonging to the complainant’s wife and a Diamond Bank account belonging to the pastor, requesting for account statements. “When we received the banks’ response, we analysed both accounts and discovered that the sum transferred for the land purchase was N3.8 million while N700,000 was transferred as a loan to the pastor,” the detective said.
Iyo, however, noted that Okungbowa made the land payments in seven installments through his wife’s bank account from June 24 to May 31, 2012 in the variations of N300,000 and N500,000 consecutively.
He added: “After volunteering a statement and being read a caution, the pastor confessed to have received the money but claimed he used it to settle his elder brother’s hospital bills, who was brought back to Nigeria from the United States of America (USA) for treatment.”
When asked by the prosecution if the agency visited the said land, Iyo said
“we didn’t visit the land since the accused had told us that there was actually no land to visit and besides the area was under grave crises”.
“The pastor told the commission that there is no land and he didn’t have any specific land to buy for him, beside the area he had promised to purchase for him was already having community fights,” the detective added.
Meanwhile, the defence counsel, V. I. P. Nwana, objected to the statement of account which was presented to be tendered as exhibit by the prosecution, arguing that the witness was not the maker of the said document and therefore could not testify to its documentation as exhibit.
Nwana argued that the detective was not a bank operative and under the Evidence Act could only give evidence to the said document if the originator of the document was permanently indisposed to tender it, which was not the case.
Justice Kudirat Jose adjourned the matter till April 13 and 14 for conducting a trial within trial based on the admissibility of the document and continuation of trial.

We were not fighting any government, we just declared our stand that we are not cowards and we cannot be cowed by fear. I was so shocked at the level of strength and courage that I had throughout the period.
And the courage I surmounted was aided by the love and exceptional concern shown me from all over the world. From over 70 nations, I received a lot of phone calls and text messages from people showing their love and compassion. I got messages of love from different people that I have never even met. I got up to 18,000 different text messages. I read and read. The solidarity was overwhelming. I was moved to tears,’ states the man of God.
Furthering, Apostle Suleman said,
“One thing that first moved me was when I got to Abuja to see the DSS, the crowd I saw almost made me to go into hiding. The crowd was so massive that they were ready to take bullets on my behalf. It moved me.
The love shown was not just about me but for what they believe in and it gave me so much courage and made me to realize that I was not alone. I’m not taking it for granted, that’s why I’m saying thank you to all. I have to confess that I’m yet to recover from that show of affection. Meanwhile, the firebrand cleric will be visiting the White House, the American seat of power, in March. According to a reliable source from the church, Apostle Suleman’s planned visit was on the invitation of the Mayor of Washington.

A Kenyan man with the name, Junior George Siambe Opiyo, took to his Facebook page to ridicule a lady he was one time involved with romantically.
Evelyn is pregnant and says Junior George is the daddy. But according to the gentleman, he and Evelyn Awuor shared nights together well over 13 months ago, so there’s no possible way he could be responsible for her pregnancy.
He wants her to leave him in peace so he can focus on what he’s doing.
A man had to have his testicles reattached after his girlfriend bit them off his body after an argument when she returned late home from church.
The eye-watering attack happened in Botswana, where the victim, 33, required emergency services to sew his privates back on. The couple were said to have fallen out after the 32-year-old woman arrived home a day late from church.
Officers arrested her in Samuchima, Botswana, after they were tipped off by medics treating the man in hospital.
Shakawe Police Commander Superintendent Goitsemodimo Molapisi said she would be brought before court when paperwork on her lover’s medical condition was finished.
He said:
‘Currently she is facing a grievous harm charge and the doctor’s report will determine the final charge. It can be lesser or remain as it is.’
The man is recovering after an operation to reattach his testicles at Gumare Primary Hospital. A senior policeman, who wished to remain anonymous, said:
‘They exchanged harsh words with the man demanding to know where she had been.
‘She tore and left the testicles hanging.
‘He is very lucky because she nearly cut them off from the body.’
A quite steamy pair gave commuters an eyeful as they got hot and heavy on a busy train, Kent Live reported. A Nigerian family has given an outcry after their daughter, Mrs. Oluwashola Gaska (nee Adefolalu) mysteriously died and was cremated by her Polish husband, Mr. Jakub Gaska, without their consent.
According to the deceased’s elder sister at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Mrs. Abimbola Essien-Nelson, Oluwashola was murdered and her corpse hastily cremated to cover it despite the family’s objection.
The family has petitioned the Federal Government to unravel the mystery surrounding her death and cremation.
In the petition, dated January 29, 2017, and titled, ‘Petition against Mr. Jakub Gaska for the murder, unlawful cremation and burial of Oluwashola Atunrayo Gaska (nee Adefolalu) in Krakow, Poland, on December 28, 2016,’ the family detailed how the late Oluwashola, who studied in Poland, settled in the country and later married Gaska in 2010.
The petition read in part:
“The last verbal conversation I had with the deceased took place on December 24, 2016, and she made no complaint about her health. At about 11.28am, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, I received a telephone call from the husband that ‘there had been an accident, Shola had fallen unconscious and had died.’
“The husband did not tell me the nature of the so called accident. I was still conversing with the husband when the telephone was disconnected.
“The husband later called me back on the same day, stating that Oluwashola fell ill on Tuesday, and that he and his sister took her to the a hospital (the name of the hospital was not provided). He said she passed away at about 3am on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.”
The petition added that plans were being made to travel to Krakow to give the deceased a befitting burial when her husband informed them that her remains would be cremated as he and Olwashola agreed during a discussion.
It was gathered that the family requested that the husband wait until the arrival of family members in January 2017 to partake in the funeral rites.
“We also made it clear to him that because of the sudden nature of her death, we want to see her corpse. We sent several sets of representatives from the Nigerian community to him in this regard, but he refused to allow anyone access to the corpse. His response was that Oluwashola said only Abmibola and no other person, should see her corpse,” the petition read.
Gaska reportedly cremated Oluwashola’s remains on January 2, 2017. He also allegedly interred the ashes on January 7, 2017, without officially informing the Adefolalus.
Essien Nelson recalled that the husband’s final words on the heated issue regarding the cremation was that :”The cremation will proceed as planned and there is nothing anyone can do about it”
On how the couple met, Essien said:
In 2000, Shola travelled to Poland to study Architecture,after graduating and working for some years the deceased informed the family that she had met and intended to marry Jakub Gaska and settle down in Poland”
“As an African family, the expectation of the family was that the potential husband would formally visit Nigeria to comply with Yoruba native laws and customs in respect to the traditional marriage rights but this did not happen”
“Reluctantly and for the happiness of the deceased, the family sent a representative to Poland for the church wedding and I was the representative of the family with the wedding taking place on the 15th of August,2010”
“The matrimonial home was at Ui.Owiecimska 33,32-551,Wygielzow,GMINA Babice District,Chrzanow County ,Lesser Poland, a suburb of Krakow where the deceased lived a communal life style as had to share the home with her mother –in- law”
“In her life time, the deceased taught English language as a foreign language. Shola also owned a photography business and made reasonable income with which she maintained the matrimonial home “
“The husband was in and out of employment between 2010 and 2016 as his highest educational qualifications was high school certificate, though his last employer was the IKEA Store in Krakow,Poland”
“I constantly received reports that the deceased had constant frictions in the marriage due to the over bearing influence and meddling stance of her mother-in-law and as a matter of fact my sister had informed me of their plans to relocate to a separate house for the privacy of herself and her husband as there was no privacy whatsoever in the matrimonial home.”
The Senate President, Speaker, House of Representatives, President, Republic of Poland, among others, were also copied in the petition.
