Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who has been declared wanted by the Nigerian army over ties with Boko Haram, says he will be in the country soon if the authorities send him an air ticket.
In his response to the military, Salkida said:
“My attention has been drawn to a public notice put out by the Nigerian Army and signed by Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations,” he said.
“The statement declaring me wanted seeks culpable grounds to punish me on account of ‘last two videos released by Boko Haram terrorists and other findings…’ by the Army.
“Clearly, my status as a Nigerian journalist who has reported extensively, painstakingly and consistently on the Boko Haram menace in the country since 2006 is an open book known to Nigerians and the international community.
“Equally, my total allegiance and sacrifice to the Federal Republic of Nigeria is self evident. I have stayed within the creed of professional journalism in my work.”
Salkida said he had been to Nigeria three times on the invitation of the federal government to help in the recovery of the Chibok schoolgirls.
“As a testimony to the credible and professional values of my access, since May 2015, l have been to Nigeria three times on the invitation of Federal Government agencies. I made personal sacrifices for the release of our Chibok daughters.
“Finally, the Army is aware that I am not in Nigeria presently. In the coming days I will seek to get a flight to Abuja and avail myself to the Army authorities. Indeed, my return will be hastened if the Military sends me a ticket.”

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta, MEND, today, took the the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, to the cleaners, saying he agreed in secret to renounce ‘Biafra’ in exchange for freedom, only to act hypocritically in public after sealing discussion with MEND on the matter.
Spokesperson of MEND, Jomo Gbomo, in a vitriolic statement, said: “The attention of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has been drawn to the recent spate of hypocritical and provocative statements issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu,”
The group said the IPOB/Kanu statements “purport to dissociate IPOB/Kanu from some of the concessions, which have so far been secured by MEND in the ongoing talks aimed at resolving the current Niger Delta crisis between the Federal Government and MEND.”
Its words:
“MEND hereby uses this opportunity to inform the entire world that following the group’s ongoing negotiations with the Federal Government, Nnamdi Kanu has made it clear that he is willing to renounce “Biafra” in secret; in exchange for his freedom.”
“MEND and the Federal Government have, however, flatly rejected the IPOB/Kanu hypocrisy to remain defiant in public; while accepting to secretly renounce secession.”
It asserted: “MEND, therefore, urges the already frustrated and desperate Mr. Kanu and IPOB to swallow their pride and make a public denunciation of ‘Biafra.’”
The group argued that the public denunciation by Kanu was important so as not continue deceiving the gullible donors and followers sold to the illusion of a ‘Biafra Republic’ that aims to annex the Niger Delta region as part of its territory.
It said there was need for them (donors and followers) to “become fully aware that the so-called ‘Biafra Republic’ is merely a business venture and scam whose sole beneficiaries are Kanu, directors of IPOB and their families and cronies.”

President Muhammadu Buhari’s has been blasted by a mother of the abducted Chibok girls, Esther Yakubu, who said Buhari’s administration is “more clueless than Jonathan’s government.”
Crying out in pain, Esther made the remark after sighting her daughter in the new video released by the Boko Haram insurgents demanding swap of their detained members with the Chibok girls.
“The Chibok girls must be rescued, they must have their lives, the future that Boko Haram tries to truncate. more clueless than Jonathan’s.” Esther said.
Boko Haram released the video yesterday as it sent another message to the Nigerian Army. The girls who were abducted in 2014 from their dormitory in Chibok, Borno State and has been held as prisoners for two years now.
Punch revealed that Esther said though she wanted the best educationally for her daughter, but regretted putting her in boarding school.
“I wanted her to have the best of education, I planned to sponsor her education to whatever level she wanted, but she could not sit for her final examinations because she was abducted.
“Boko Haram in the video asked the government to release their members so that they could release our girls. If the government knows that it cannot handle the insurgency, it should invite other countries. It is not a crime to seek assistance in a war. It is a shame for them to allow our daughters to languish in captivity for over two years.
“I don’t regret sending her to school, but I regret putting her in boarding school. If she was a day student, she would be home with me that night. The abduction affected her because she was in boarding school,” she said

A South African court on Monday gave a 10-year prison term to a woman who kidnapped a newborn baby from her sleeping mother in a hospital 19 years ago, local media reported.
The kidnapper raised the baby as her own.
In passing the sentence, a judge in the High Court in Cape Town emphasised the seriousness of the crime by the 52-year-old woman, News24 said.
The kidnapping victim, who her family named Zephany Nurse, was taken from a maternity ward at Groote Schuur Hospital in 1997. Her kidnapper raised her as her own.
The girl’s real identity came to light in February 2015, when her younger biological sister began attending high school and pupils pointed out her remarkable likeness to a final-year student.
The younger girl told her parents, who met the older girl and immediately thought she could be their long-lost child.
The judge said the crime was premeditated and too serious not to warrant a jail sentence. Zephany, who is now claimed to be pregnant, was raised under a different name and has shunned the media spotlight on the case.

Jealous wife of a UK Foreign Office envoy, busted her husband’s affair when she read his mobile phone messages after unlocking the device with his thumbprint while he was asleep.
She however ended up in hospital with injuries allegedly inflicted by him for the act while her diplomat hubby was arrested at his London office on suspicion of actual bodily harm.
UK Sun reports that the wife believed her husband was having an affair with a female work colleague.
So, while the 40-year-old slept in their central London apartment, she took his phone, enabled with a fingerprint sensor, and pressed his thumb on the home button to unlock it and read his messages.
He woke to realize he had been “caught with his trousers down” as his wife confronted him over the contents of his phone.
A row erupted during which, the wife alleges, he lashed out at her.
Following the bust-up in the early hours of Saturday July 16, she went to hospital for treatment for unspecified injuries and made a complaint at lunchtime to police alleging she was assaulted.
Her husband was arrested at the beginning of this month at work in front of shocked colleagues and taken to a central London police station.
His fingerprints, a mugshot and DNA saliva swab were taken. He was questioned under caution by community safety unit officers, who specialize in domestic violence cases, and bailed.
One source said:
“He was caught with his trousers down and is no James Bond type. His wife was suspicious about whether he was having an affair.
“While he was sleeping, she took his phone and gently pressed his thumb on it to unlock it and read his messages.
“A row developed and she ended up in hospital. She claimed he had beaten her.”
His wife is said to have since provided a full statement to police.
The Met said:
“Detectives from a London community support unit are investigating an allegation of domestic assault.
“On August 1, detectives arrested a 40-year old man on suspicion of actual bodily harm. He has been bailed to return to police in mid-September.’

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III has stated that putting on hijab is a right and not a privilege for Muslims across the nation.
Speaking in Benin City at the General Assembly and Executive National Council Meeting of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), the Sultan said though Christians were not believed to be terrorists but they committed wicked crimes against humanity.
He, however, hailed the Pope for making a very strong statement defending Islam as a religion of peace.
On the hijab controversy, the Sultan said:
“Hijab is our right not a privilege. It is not a favour to us. It is our right.
“And we hold on to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that guarantees freedom of worship.
“That is why we don’t disturb anybody who wants to go and worship the way he wants.”
He added: “Nigeria is a multi religious state, not a singular state. And being a multi-religious state, we must allow the various religions to go on but we must not trample on each other’s right, which means I must be allowed to practice my religion the way I believe as ordered me by the Holy Quran and nothing else.
“So when we get this done, the issue of hijab and so many other things affecting Islam, I believe is our right, not a privilege, unless the Constitution is changed.”
On bad elements in Islam, he said: “Those bad people among us, like in other religions, we should pick them out and teach them the tenets of Islam.
“If they refuse to change, that is their own problem. We will meet with the creator on the judgement day.
“In any society, there are many terribly bad people. So many, who are not Muslims but carry out criminal activities with some Muslim organisations in America, France and even in Nigeria.
“Those people doing negative things should be called criminals or terrorists but not Muslims.
“I’ve never heard of Christian terrorists but we have heard of so many Christians or followers of other religions who committed heinous crimes against humanity.
“But they didn’t claim to do it for their religions and we did not hold them against their religions.”

Cross River State command of Nigeria Immigration Service has reportedly arrested a Cameroonian couple (names withheld by the command) with a two-week-old baby boy suspected to have been stolen.
The couple alleged that the baby was sold to them by an unidentified child trafficker in the south western part of Nigeria.
The suspects were arrested on August 10 at the Nfum Control Post in Etung Local Government Area of the state by a border patrol team after the first line interrogation showed that their surnames did not tally.
The state Comptroller of Immigration, Mrs. Funke Adeuyi, said:
“After searching their travelling documents, we found out that their surnames did not tally. They also claimed to have been married for 15 years. This gave us room for suspicion and further investigation.
“Our next line of action is to hand them over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for further investigation into the matter.”
The state comptroller said that the order for the parade of the suspects was given by the Comptroller-General of NIS, Mr. Mohammed Babandede.
When interrogated, the female suspect insisted the baby was hers.

Unilag Alumnus Renounces Religion, Says ‘I Know I Have Disappointed Many’
An alumnus of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Taiwo Gold Ayodeji has renounced the religion of Islam, making a switch to Atheism.
The UNILAG graduate who currently resides in Germany, made the declaration on his social media page, stating that hat he did not renounce the religion because want to sleep with different girls, or spend all his time in a club or become a “bad boy”.
Here is what Taiwo Gold Ayodeji shared hours ago:
I’m now an atheist. There is nothing to hide anymore. I’ve hid this fact for a very long time now. Before leaving Nigeria, I had confirmed to myself that I lack a belief in the gods of any religion or in the existence of supernatural entities.
This is not a decision I made because of the “freedoms” of Germany. At first, I was shocked and scared that I came to this conclusion.
I said to myself: “Ayo, you’ve memorized a decent portion of the Qur’an, you can’t do this, you can’t allow the Shaytan(Satan) to use you now, repent and return to Allah”. I however quickly realized that there was no turning back for me.
I have weighed the evidence for the Abrahamic religions(Judaism, Christianity, Islam) and realized that they are no different from the earlier Zoroastrian faith or even Manichaeism. We are born into this world mostly through our mothers and from birth, we are labelled with a religion, tribe and even social class; we never choose them.
I am often amused when people say to me “I chose my faith, I was not born into or forced into it”. This, in my opinion, is a highly dishonest statement. If you chose your religion, why is it that it’s the same religion of your parents/guardians? Why is it that it’s the same religion(s) of your society? Why have we not seen Nigerian Hindus evangelizing? Or Nigerian Zoroastrians? The answer is simply that most of us have not heard of these religions.
I am not an atheist because I want to sleep with different girls, or spend all my time in a club or become a “bad boy”.
I’m an atheist because I know with a high level of certainty that no one knows about the existence of a God; if we knew about a God, we would all have the same idea of him/her/it/them. But the reality is different; everyone believes differently about God. Some think God is male. Others think God is a giant Elephant.
Some others think God is on a throne in Paradise. Another set think God has a son and several children. We even have groups that think God wields a hammer and lives close to the North Pole. Which of these ideas is correct? How do we test or validate them?
My disbelief in God and religion has made the circumstances very harsh for me. I lost a girl that I really loved. I lost the friendship of close friends. I got a few scary and saddening messages from former friends.
I was diagnosed with depression by the psychiatrists at my university in Munich. Only few people know this. I was put on Sertraline Zoloft to curb my anxiety and panic attacks. For me, it was a painful dawn that I became an atheist. I’m lucky I could pass my exams very well in spite of all these.
Out forefathers evolved a belief in God(s) mostly due to a lack of understanding of natural processes during their time. The hurricane, tornado, tsunami came with their full force and our ancestors thought this was because of their own misdeeds. They knelt and bowed to the sky and begged for restraint.
They offered each other as sacrifice to appease the entities that were “controlling” these disasters. Today we know how the Coriolis force, tectonic plate motions and so on drive these disasters. We know today that earthquakes are not due to homosexuality or sin but due to converging tectonic plates.
Some may ask me “now that you don’t believe in God, how would you be moral or good?”. My answer is that morality is not based on religion. If many of us took our morals from religion, we would stone all fornicators around us.
We would kill those who don’t believe like us. Morality is evolved; societies that were immoral simply became weaker and died off. They killed each other and looted each other’s property and became weaker ensuring that they weren’t strong enough to defend themselves from warring tribes.
Some may also ask me “if you don’t believe in a God then how did we all get to this world?”. My answer to this is two-fold. One, I came here through my mother like most of you.
Secondly, as regards initial existence, I don’t know how it started but neither do you. The only difference is that I’m honest with this answer. How can we know about things that are beyond our conception? What is wrong with saying “I don’t know about the origins of life”?
I’ve been threatened with hellfire as a punishment for my disbelief. What can I say? Who amongst those who threaten have seen such a place? Many of us are afraid of hell and thus stick to religion. Unknown to us, we create a hell in this world for ourselves and loved ones. Muslims and Christians threaten each other with hell but both of them can’t be correct at the same time. Even within Islam, many think the Ahmadis and Shi’ites are hell-bound.
I think everyone should be free to believe or lack belief in a God or Gods. I don’t criticize others for holding religious beliefs; I only take offence if those beliefs are harmful to other people.
I think that life should be lived with positivity and happiness. Some live longer than others but it’s not enough reason to not be happy in this world.
If I ever return to religion, I would return to the religion of my ancestors. I would worship Eledumare through Ifa and I would happily recite the “Odu”(I lack a proper English translation; someone can help) of Ifa and praise Eledumare. Our ancestors were at peace with this before the invasion of the Abrahamic faiths.
I know I have disappointed many, but each person has an individual course to chart in life. I hope that I would be accepted by those that I love in spite of our differences.
Most of all I wish myself a good life ahead!

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Sunday stated that current Nigerian leader, President Buhari will be known as one of the nation’s best presidents despite recently witnessing the heaviest public criticism since he assumed office on May 29, 2015.
In an opinion article he made available to journalists, Shehu said:
“The currency liberalisation and the deregulation of the petroleum products sale will make President Buhari one of the best presidents till date. “The removal of subsidies on the petrol products has saved the government more than N2tn annual expenditure in this respect.
“President Buhari’s foreign trips have brought many things to the country. He has energised our foreign policy. Beyond the enormous goodwill reaped from “resetting” age-old but damaged relations with neighbours and distant partners and friends, the President has attracted foreign development assistance and direct investments. It is generally accepted that good foreign relations bring foreign direct investment. So much is currently being done one year into the administration. This is in spite of the world economy being sluggish and recession-stricken.”
“I don’t say that media criticism is not reflective of the feeling of the citizens. President Buhari has himself on numerous occasions admitted that the change mantra has brought with it pain and suffering which he likened to the pains of labour. It is a passing phase.
“When they ask the question, is this the change we voted for, the critic forgets how far we have come from the scam-tainted years of the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) rule. How many people have given a thought to the possibility of Nigeria doing something that the combined strength of Europe and America have failed to do?
“Unfair criticism of the Buhari administration especially on account of escalating prices of foodstuff and the liberalization of the currency exchange needs to be challenged before it overshadows the commendable job the President has done in fighting terrorism as part of overall effort to secure the country, reducing corruption and yes, arresting the economic slide before it sinks the nation.”
“There are many today who take for granted the declared victory over the Boko Haram terrorists, forgetting the reign of the bomber who made it almost impossible for regular attendance in churches and mosques in many of our cities, including the Federal Capital City, Abuja.
“Victory over Boko Haram has brought peace not only to Nigeria but to the countries in the Lake Chad region.
“The world leaders are still at work trying to contain the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, ISIS, which threat sadly continues to become more potent.
“Everyone living in Nigeria knows that there is a major movement against corruption as part of the ongoing change. This war has forced the return to the treasury of billions of Naira and millions of Dollars stolen by past officials.”

Chinese diver He Zi received a silver medal for the women’s three-metre springboard at the Rio Olympics on Sunday, August 14 – but got even another lifetime medal when her boyfriend Qin Kai, in front of a global TV audience, went down on one knee.
Qin Kai rushed up with a diamond ring during the medal ceremony of the women’s 3 metre springboard event, marking the second marriage proposal of the Olympics.

Speaking on her proposal, she said:
“I didn’t know he would propose today and I didn’t expect myself to marry myself out so early,” said He, who tearfully accepted the proposal with a big hug.
“I saw him during the afternoon and he seemed to be memorising something, so I asked him ‘what are you doing?’ and he said he was singing,” she told reporters.
“I’ve forgotten most of what he’s said (during the proposal), but it’s largely what you can expect like promises, but what touched me the most is that he said he was willing to be bullied by me for life.”.

The 25-year-old has been dating the 30-year-old Qin for the past six years, she added.

These shocking photos shows the disasters after floods in Louisiana – caskets that had washed up from a graveyard floated down the street in Denham Springs.
President Barack Obama declared the state as one in disaster on Sunday after the historic flood left at least five people dead, with emergency crews working to rescue thousands more.
Governor John Bel Edwards said more than 10,000 people are now in shelters and more than 20,000 people have been rescued across south Louisiana.
More than a foot of rain fell overnight on Friday – in a deluge estimated to occur once every 500 years, according to the Pacific Standard.

So after years of malice and grudge against each other, Nigerian classic musicians, 9ice and Ruggedman have finally put a end to their beef which lasted for years!
Sharing the photo above, the rapper explained why he and the singer put an end to long term beef. Below is what he wrote:
What 9ice and I did for the industry with the song Ruggedy Baba is huge and more important than any alleged beef.
That’s why I decided to make the new song about our positive contribution to our industry and not about beef.
I decided not to add anything about the past in the new song “Religion” cos thats one negative, misinterpreted aspect of our lives i want buried with the past.
