The Federal Government may exhume the body of 2016 Batch ‘B’ corps member, Miss Ifedolapo Oladepo, who died at the Kano Orientation Camp recently for autopsy.
The Minister of Youths and Sports, Mr. Solomon Dalung, gave the hint in an interview with State House correspondents on Thursday.
President Muhammadu Buhari had, on Wednesday, ordered an independent investigation into the death of the corps member barely 24 hours after the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, announced that the young lady died of renal sepsis occasioned by urinary tract infection.
Dalung said the President’s order was not an indication that PMB had no confidence in the report by the NYSC.
According to Punch, he said the investigation ordered by the President would only complement the one carried out by the NYSC, since the first investigation did not include autopsy.
The minister said,
“The report given by NYSC is normal and natural, that after investigation they must present their own report on what has happened.
“But in view of the fact that there are many versions of what led to the death of the NYSC member, it would be fair to look at another version of what happened, to be sure of what actually transpired.
“It doesn’t have to do with not trusting the process but to gauge the report alongside other opinion; then we will now be able to tell Nigerians that these are the circumstances surrounding her death.
“Don’t forget that the report of the NYSC had no autopsy; but an independent investigation will require an autopsy.
“The autopsy, alongside the report, will fortify the conclusion the government will make.”
A young Nigerian soldier with the Instagram handle, ‘forevercoded7’ has melted the hearts of social media users with an informal letter to his family members ahead of a presumed premotion of his demise just as soldiers anticipate during military warfares.
In his brief letter, he admonishes his family members and friends not to weep about his death but celebrate him as he is a soldier who was born to die.
This short but weighty emotional piece speaks volume of the pains of Nigerian troops battling the recalcitrant Boko Haram sect in the north-east amidst scathing uncertainties and hardship.
The Minister of Youths and Sports, Mr. Solomon Dalung, on Thursday said the Federal Government did not expect the Super Falcons would win the just-concluded CAF African Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon, according to the Punch.
He said that was why the government was currently facing difficulties in paying the players’ entitlements. It would be recalled that Mr. Dalung’s utterances have put him on the wrong side with the general public in recent times with massive calls made for his outright sack.
Dalung spoke with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja amidst continued protests by members of the victorious Falcons over their unpaid allowances.
The players had seized the trophy they won at the competition and said they would hold on to the trophy until the authorities concerned offset the N238.05m accumulated bonuses which they are being owed.
They had threatened that if President Muhammadu Buhari refused to address their grievances at the Federal Executive Council’s meeting on Wednesday, they would embark on protest on the streets of Abuja.
But the minister said the situation could have been avoided if the Nigerian Football Federation had envisaged that the team would win and put in place the process of paying their entitlements.
He said, “Don’t forget that nobody even knew the team will emerge victorious.
“If we were confident they will emerge victorious, all the federation would have done is to plan for process of participation and entitlement.
“It is already established in sports tradition, when you win this is what you are entitled to.
“The situation is highly unfortunate and I don’t like it. These girls have given confidence to women who want to embrace sports, so this will go a long way in killing this laudable achievement. It is unfortunate but we will make sure the right thing is done.”
His response is expected to be trailed by a chain of reactions from Nigerians on social media as Mr. Dalung has been deemed one of the worst performing ministers in President Buhari’s cabinet.
Just about a month after a commercial sex worker was rehabilitated by the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, in Port Harcourt Rivers state got married, another one, Joy Francis, has also gotten married.
Taking her marital vow at the GRA branch of OPM church, the bride said:
“I got involved in prostitution after the death of my mother in 2012. I am an orphan, my father died in 2007, I came from a polygamous home and could not continue my education after dropping out in my secondary school.
As my last option, I took the choice of engaging in a full time prostitution to help myself. Consequently, I was addmitted into a demonic brothel in Diobu where certain rituals are made through shaving of hair from all the sensitive part of your body to be deposited with the owner of the brothel.
I could not find any pleasure in the business as several ugly incidences kept occurring in the evil brothel. I lamented every day in my life for God to rescue me as I no longer felt comfortable to continue in the act of prostitution but to avail.
At some point, members of Winners Chaple church near water lines junction, will come to the brothel in their buses to convey us to their church but will later returned us to the brothel. I kept wondering why the church could not offer an alternative means for us to quit the illicit trade.
As I was believing God for a savour to meet me was when Daddy OPM visited our brothel with an uncommon style of evergelism urging us not only to quite prostitution but to pack out of the brothel to follow him. He promised to give us house, set up businesses for us, change our lives and also to sponsor the traditional and white wedding of any of us who truly accept Christ and repent from our evil ways, a rare opportunity I have being looking for.
This divine visitation by the OPM evergelism team was made two days after my colleague “Chisom” lost her life in the act, a situation that created so much fear in me to quite the business. Today, those promises were made possible in my life.
I am now wedded to a husband of my choice, the church have graciously provided another accommodation for us, set up business for me and God has change my life for better” Her groom, a six years old furniture maker , who out of life challenges recently spotted OPM through Telecast and became a member, said ” I do not care about what background we may come from, but with the God of OPM, he knew his matrimonial home is solidly build”.

A 42-year-old woman, Fausat Ayinde, has approached a Lagos Island Customary Court on Thursday for the dissolution of her 15-year-old marriage on the grounds of emotional abuse.
Fausat told the court that her husband deserted her because she refused him oral sex, adding that he made her feel inferior because of his complaints and verbal abuse.
The fruit seller said that their marital problems started five years ago when her interior decorator husband came back from a trip to Port-Harcourt and asked her to suck his genital.
“My husband got back from a trip and asked me to suck him, something we have never done since we got married.
“When I refused he told me that is what other girls do to him outside, since then my husband stopped making love to me,’’ she said.
The mother of two said her husband also started complaining about her dress sense and her cooking. She added that he packed out of the matrimonial home three years ago and rented another apartment two houses from her with another woman.
Fausat said that her husband came to her house on Nov. 8 to beat her up and pack out her belongings.
“I am tired of the marriage; I have reported him to his family countless times but he has refused to change. Since he left, I have been the one responsible for the upkeep of the children,” she said.
She prayed the court to dissolve the marriage, give her custody of their children Ahmeed 15, and Ahmeedat 12, adding that the husband should be responsible for their upkeep.
The husband, Lukman Ayinde, 45, told the court that the genesis of their marital problems was not sexual. Lukman said that the basis of their issues was that his wife did not know how to take care of herself, her home, her man and children.
He said that on many occasions, he had tried to upgrade her to his taste by buying her dresses, shoes and bags. He said that his wife was also very stubborn and had refused to change, adding, “she dresses awkwardly and is unattractive“.
“I have complained about her dress sense severally, my wife can wear mismatched top and skirt with dirty flip flop slippers to anywhere.
“When I complain, she will say who is looking at her forgetting that I am her husband, I am looking, I cannot control her.
“I cannot introduce her as my wife to my colleagues, she sells in Victoria Island, Kofo Abayomi and she meets notable people but she has refused to package herself.
“She wears jeans skirt to bed, claiming that she is tired anytime I touch her.
“She does not know how to take care of the house, her man and the kids,” he said.
Mrs Opeyemi Olanrewaju, the court Deputy President said that Lukman was behaving life a typical African man who “sees women as sex object that he could use and dump.
“You have been with other women and you are comparing her with them, before and after you married her, she gave you two kids there was nothing wrong with her. “Now she is no longer good for you,” she said.
The court President, Mr Awos Awosola said that the husband should pay N220, 000, as the arrears of the money for the upkeep of the children on or before Dec. 20.
She ordered him not to visit the house again and that the children should be brought to the court whenever he wants to see them. She urged both parties to maintain peace and adjourned the case to Dec. 28 for further hearing.
Three pilgrims from Lagos State who went for this year’s pilgrimage in Jerusalem, Israel have reportedly absconded. According to a new report by PM News, the absconded pilgrims include one female and two males.
Sources in Jerusalem who confided in PM News reveal that the female pilgrim was the first to abscond few days after arriving the holy land for the 10 days spiritual exercise.
One other male pilgrim also absconded few days after the female pilgrim was declared missing, while the last one ran away shortly after the thanksgiving service to mark the departure of the pilgrims from Jerusalem back to Nigeria two days ago.
A source said immediately after the thanksgiving service, it was discovered that the pilgrim, a middle-age man was missing and he never returned.
Cases of pilgrims absconding after getting to Jerusalem have been on the rampant in recent time as they see the exercise as the easiest means of getting to Europe.
In 2013, two Lagos pilgrims absconded during the exercise. One was caught while the other was never seen again until the remaining pilgrims left Jerusalem. The same scenario played out in subsequent years.
Investigation reveals that Jerusalem is a place where immigrants could easily escape to Europe to seek greener pasture, thus, some pilgrims hide under religious ritual to escape to Europe during pilgrimage.

Two minors, identified simply as Segun and Kalesanmi, and a 22-year-old tiler, Samuel Osholo, have been arrested for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl.
The suspects reportedly covered the girl’s mouth and took turns to defile the primary one pupil inside a building under renovation on Adaraloye Street, Ikorodu, Lagos State. They were however caught in the act by the victim’s peers, who had gone into the building to play.
According to PUNCH Metro, reports that Osholo and 17 year old Kalesanmi had gone to work in the building, which is a stone’s throw from the victim’s residence. The duo also lived in the neighbourhood.
They were said to have persuaded 10-year-old Segun, the girl’s neighbour, to lure her into the building around 6pm on Friday.
The victim’s father, a trader, said one of the children, who caught the suspects in the act, confided in his wife, adding that he was informed about the incident on the telephone.
“My wife and I work in Oyingbo and we usually return home late. But that day, my wife returned home before me. She explained to me that a girl told her that our daughter had been defiled. I rushed home immediately. The girl mentioned Segun and I went to meet him. He confessed and mentioned the two other suspects.
“I reported the case at the Igbogbo Police Division and they were arrested. There was sperm in her pants and the police confirmed it too. We took her for treatment at the Ikorodu General Hospital.
“Since yesterday (Tuesday), my neighbours have been threatening me for taking the matter to the police. If anything happens to me or any of my family members, I will hold them responsible.”
Segun confessed to the crime at the station, saying that he persuaded the girl to follow him to the building after the other two suspects promised him some money.
He said,
“The girl and I live in the same house. They told me to invite her to meet them in the house where they were working and I did. They asked me to get a piece of cloth and paper. They put the paper on the floor and laid the cloth on it. They instructed me to take off her pants and sleep with her.
“I removed her pants and slept with her. They also slept with her. The girl began to cry and they covered her mouth. I felt sorry for her. I told them to stop, but they refused. They said she would not die and that nobody would know. They also promised to give her money.”
However, Osholo and Kalesanmi, who spoke in Yoruba, denied raping the girl, adding that they had finished work and left the area before the incident occurred.
“I don’t know anything about this case. A building is being renovated on Adaraloye Street and we were asked to fix the tiles. I don’t know where the incident happened. The girl is lying against us,” Osholo said.
Kalesanmi said,
“There was a misunderstanding between the girl’s father and my elder brother. They fought recently and the girl’s father broke a bottle and threatened to stab us.
“While people tried to settle the matter, he called his daughter to a corner and spoke with her secretly. I don’t know what they planned. This allegation was made out of annoyance.”
The suspects were brought before an Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on seven counts bordering on unlawful sexual intercourse. While Segun pleaded guilty to the charges, the two other defendants pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.A. Oshoniyi, granted Osholo bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and ordered that he should be remanded in prison pending when his bail conditions would be perfected.
Adjourning the case till January 26, 2017, Oshoniyi held that Segun should be kept in Boys Remand Home in Oregun, Lagos, while Kalesanmi should be remanded at Borstal Home, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Lover to female staff of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Miss Sophia Phillips Horsefall, and two others were, yesterday, arraigned at a Port Harcourt magistrate’s court by Department of State Services, DSS, for stabbing her to death after she had refused to make him, the boyfriend, her next-of-kin to her bank account as well as her refusal to give him one million (N1 million) he had demanded from her.
The accused, Sotonye Martin, Innocent Oluche and Wachukwu Ugochukwu committed the murder on November 8 this year.
Counsel to the DSS, Mr C. S. Eze, told the court that the first defendant, Mr. Sotonye Martin, lured the deceased, who he had a 13-year-old daughter for, to the house of the second defendant, Innocent Oluche, where he allegedly stabbed her to death, Vanguard reports.
He claimed the first and second defendants later buried the deceased in a shallow grave, noting that they invited the third defendant, Wachukwu Ugochukwu, a spiritualist, to perform some rituals.
According to him, the accused were brought before the court on a three-count charge which included “stabbing to death with a jack knife and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law, Laws of Rivers State 1999.”
According to Vanguard, the accused did not take plea. Chief Magistrate F. Alikor referred the casefile to the state Director of Public Prosecution, saying her court did not have jurisdiction to entertain matters over murder which was the second charge.
She remanded the accused in prison custody and adjourned the matter indefinitely.
Elder brother to the deceased, Mr Amatu Phillips, while speaking to newsmen, alleged that his sister was murdered by the boyfriend of 13 years, Mr. Martin because of her wealth.
He claimed she had some money in her account and confided in the boyfriend who later kept on pestering her for financial support.
According to him, after the sister had allegedly given him money several times, he came again demanding for N1 million which she refused.
He alleged that the boyfriend later lured her to his friend’s house, offered her a fruit juice drink which, unknown to the sister, was drugged.
He alleged that when the boyfriend noticed that she was dizzy from effect of the drug, he stabbed her on the neck, demanding her ATM card and password.
He claimed the boyfriend had before that day persuaded his sister to change the name of her next of kin on her bank details to his name.

I had a contract job with State Universal Education Board (SUBEB). After the job completion, I was mistakenly over-paid with sum of 1 million, Eight Thousand Naira only (1,008,000.00).
When I discovered the discrepancy, I notified the Account Department, and I promised to refund the said amount of money. Firstly, they were shocked by my action as a Nigerian, as it was not discovered by the Auditors.
Today being 7th of December, 2016, as a true patriot and a servant of the Most High God with the fear of God, humanity, conscience and future:
I, Mr Leo Leo Umana on behalf of myself, my wife and kids paid the sum of ONE MILLION, EIGHT THOUSAND NAIRA (1, 008,000.00) back into the AK-UBE ACCOUNT.

As the current year comes to a round off, Bishop Dr. David Oyedepo has warned Nigerians to expect harsher economic challenges in the nearest future.
The Pioneer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, therefore, urged them to draw closer to God, if they wanted to survive the impending tough times.
Oyedepo was speaking during the opening session of the annual Shiloh programme of his church in Ota, Ogun State on Tuesday.
“It looks tough presently but it’s going to get tougher in the days to come. Obedience to the terms of covenant will put you in total command. When all your obedience is fulfilled, all opposition is brought down,” he said.
However, from scriptures, all the children of the covenant, who walk according to biblical truth will always enjoy exemptions from the gross darkness and evils plaguing the world.”
The opening session of the programme was attended by over 2,000 delegates from 41 countries, according to a statement from the church.
First lady of Lagos, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, has enjoined the city’s citizens to extend a hand of love and put smiles on the faces of the less privileged persons this yuletide season.
She gave the charge while declaring open the 2016 edition of the Lagos Television Christmas Fair, at the TV complex, Ikeja.
She noted that the yuletide was a season for sharing and caring, making it a necessary moral responsibility for parents and people that are better-off, to assist the less privileged ones in whatever ways they could.
According to her,
“I enjoin the parents to spare a thought for other children, who have no one to cater for them. Let us lend a helping hand to make the world a better place, by developing the spirit of giving in our children”.
Mrs Ambode urged the children to imbibe the qualities of humility, meekness, selflessness and holiness that distinguished Jesus Christ in His own generation.
Speaking further, she lauded the management and staff of the television for sustaining the tradition of the fair established thirty-two years ago, describing it as a worthy legacy that has outlived its founding fathers.
In his welcome address, the commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, noted that the administration attached much importance to entertainment and relaxation for residents of the state, as a way of helping them to unwind.
He said:
“The administration of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode placed high premium on entertainment as a form of relaxation for the citizenry. This has informed the hosting of the Lagos Fiesta in the last week of 2015, the flying of the Lagos Corner at the 50th edition of the Nottinghill Carnival in London, the active participation of the state at Toronto Film Festival and a host of others”.
He noted further that this Christmas fair “coming shortly after the successful hosting of the Lagos Street Party by the government, confirmed the status of Lagos as the entertainment hub of the West African Coast”.
The commissioner who hinted that the state would be celebrating its 50th anniversary of creation next year, urged Lagosians to brace up for the next edition of One Lagos Fiesta, featuring five-day simultaneous entertainment in five locations in the state, to usher in the new year.
Lagos Television Christmas fair debuted thirty-two years ago and has added colour and glamour in entertainment and relaxation for children over the years.
Also in attendance were the General Managers of Eko FM/ Radio Lagos, Mrs Funke Moore, LTV8, Mr. Deji Balogun, some COWLSO members, management and staff of LTV8 and others.
