The stunning songstress, definitely turned heads at the 2016 AFRIMA, which was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites two days ago – the beauty put her smoking curves on display as she donned a blue figure hugging dress for the event.
Blind music legend, Stevie Wonder, made the comparison during an interview with Philly.com after his Get Out The Vote concert for Hillary Clinton on Friday in Philadelphia.
He says:
“If you had an emergency situation and needed to go to the hospital, and you had to get there right away, would you want me driving your car?” he asked, to which the reporter replied “no.” He added, “Because I’m not an experienced driver, right?”
The 66-year-old then said Clinton’s track record alone makes her a better candidate.
“So my belief is that Hillary is an experienced person of the government, and she has spent 30 years with a commitment. Not to mention that her parents taught her in a kinder way, to have respect and love for all people. That’s the person I want to govern, to be the leader of this nation,” he said.
The 25-time Grammy award winner also slammed Trump for using his platform to make negative remarks about women, Muslims and Latinos. Wonder said that he would hate to have the “last years of my life in a place of pessimism” under a Trump presidency.
“This is not a reality show. This is life in reality,” he said. “So I’m with her because I believe in where we are, and where we are going to go. I have always believed that America is great. We’re just going to make it greater.”
Seven soldiers were buried Yesterday, 7th November 2016. President Buhari’s daughter, Zahra who was in attendance shared a picture collage and her experience at the burial.
According to her, it was the first time she was witnessing a burial all her life.
She wrote: ”
Today, I experienced a burial for the first time in my life. Right before my eyes I saw our 7 heroes laid to rest, I couldn’t hold back my tears.
I looked up and saw my mother wiping away her tears and then Lt. Gen. Buratai’s voice shaking as he gave his touching speech to bid good bye for the last time. Lt Gen Buratai listed town after town, village after village that were recaptured by the army led by our 7 fallen soldiers.
Tears rolled down as though I had known them all my life. They sacrificed everything they had for us and gave it their all in every battle. I thought to myself “This is the epitome of patriotism!”.
All our fallen heroes shall not be forgotten. The patriotism I had in my heart before the burial was very much but by the end of the event it had doubled!! We have”..no country but Nigeria. We shall remain here and savage it together”
The bravery, courage and patriotism of our soldiers is an example to every Nigerian, it is the true definition of “leading by example”.
May Almighty shower his blessings and mercy on all our fallen heroes. You shall never be forgotten.

According to reports, sometime in October this year, 42 year-old Nana had told Fana that she had dreamt she would die on her wedding day, but the couple didn’t take much notice of the dream and moved on with their wedding plans.
On the wedding day, hundreds of guests had arrived at the beautifully decorated wedding venue at Kloof Civic Centre, Durban, South Africa, to witness the couple’s big day only for Nana’s dream to become a reality.
The deceased, who is from G section in Umlazi, south Durban, South Africa, was reportedly admitted to the hospital the day before her wedding, complaining of feeling weak. She died an hour before it was time for her to tie the knot, reports say.
But amazingly, Fana from Hammersdale, west of Durban, South Africa, stood strong, continued with the wedding ceremony and asked the pastor to pray as he placed both rings on his finger.
The couple had reportedly been in a relationship for more than 20 years. They both have four kids and had been planning the wedding for many years before the tragic incident on their wedding day.
Beautiful Chinelo Onyeador has launched a website “ihaveapurpose.org” to create awareness on cancer after she survived the deadly disease. Sharing her testimony with the world, she wrote:
“My name is Crystal Chinelo Onyeador and at the age of 22, immediately after graduating from college, I was diagnosed with cancer. But being a cancer patient was not and is not my identity. I am much more than that. I am a child of God, I am strong, I am a friend, I am an encourager, I am a leader. I have a purpose. And hopefully this platform will show everyone that not only are we more than our circumstances, but we all have purposes to fulfill during our lifetimes.
I decided to start this campaign for a few reasons. One is to share my experiences through my battle with cancer (that I won, by God’s grace ) and raise awareness for young adults with cancer (It seems like there’s nothing out there for us). In addition, I’d like this to be a place where you can share your own hopes, aspirations, and purposes with me.
The launching of this website was strategic as September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month and September 15th is the 10th Anniversary of World Lymphoma Awareness Day. Please share this page with your friends and families!
Cancer, like many illnesses, comes with a bunch of hospital and medical bills so please, check out the shop and donation pages. Any contribution will help and is greatly appreciated!
Ebonyi state Lawmaker popularly known as Afikpo Chic, Hon Maria Ude Nwachi has called out popular blogger Linda Ikeji over recent statements made by the blogger that she can’t marry a poor man.
The lawmaker who considers Linda’s statement an affront on humanity, said Linda should know that no condition is permanent. According to her, Linda can’t have it both ways and must learn to humble herself if she truly wants to find a man who will marry her. Below is what she wrote..
‘Linda, you cannot have it both ways.
I personally did a lot of damage control for Linda Ikeji when it was alleged she said; she can buy any man with her money. I sincerely did not believe she can utter such; as I could not imagine any reasonable human being saying such. I defended her with all my might. I Paid Facebook and Google to boost and promote the article I took my time to create, image-making style, in order to squash that allegation. Remember, I do not know her in any shape. Never met her. Never spoken with her. I know her the same way millions do, via the fact that she is famous blogger. I Just did it from my heart; for I see her as a role model to women and youths. And I did not want such dent on her image.
Recently, power-blogger, Linda Ikeji, told an interviewer that she can never marry a poor man. Hear her: “No, I can’t marry a poor guy and I’m being honest about it. He doesn’t have to be rich but let him be successful in his own way. When I was 30, my standards were extremely high. Now, I have only three criteria. He must be successful. He must be a good man in the sense that he has to be very supportive of what I do. If he tries to stifle me, I’m out. The third one, is the one that likes to eat groceries well (laughs).”n
On her latest statement, I do not agree with her at all. Firstly; a rich man is nothing but a poor man with money. And; no condition in life is ever permanent.
The scariest thing for a man to hear is not even the one of her saying she can’t marry a poor man, it is the one she says that she would be out if a man tries to stifle her. Then she better just create the man from scratch. Because there is no man, especially African man, that will not attempt to stifle his wife every now and then.
That innocuous utterance has already sent strong signals to those successful men she is seeking that they better go and marry someone that will not attempt to wear the trouser at home with them; and not her. It also indicates to those successful men she wants that she will never be submissive in anyway to them; that she no send and is ready for a divorce at any given time. She is basically preempting divorce even before marriage.
The major reason men, especially African men are working hard to be successful is so they can get that woman they want, that will give them a peaceful home, and the leeway to be the oga of the house. Why would a man go through it all to make it only to marry a woman who is going to become the man of the house with him.
Important: A man is a man, poor or rich. No man with his head in intact, will be okay for a woman to control him. Even if the woman is richer than money itself. It will not happen. Even the poorest man on earth would rather be eating his Indomie in peace than to be controlled by any woman. This applies even in the civilized world. This not about pride, this is human nature.
On money: Being rich, poor or broke is not a permanent state of being. Moreover; money is not the be all and end all of life. Some people are very rich today not just by hard work but by force of universe which can also be interpreted as grace. Let us not dismiss people based on their current condition. Moreover, he only thing constant in life is change.
Hear Linda, “I keep telling people. It’s not that men are scarce. They are not scarce. The type of men that some of us are looking for are scarce. If I want to get married next week, I can. I want a man that I can look up to. Somebody that inspires me, somebody that will push me, motivate me; somebody who has had some success in his own career. I’m inspired by successful people. I can’t wait to meet someone like Tyler Perry.”
Now let us talk about the definition of success. According to her, she wants to marry a successful man, but the man does not have to be rich. This is a huge oxymoron (an epigrammatic effect, by which contradictory terms are used in conjunction).
Success is defined as; the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. And it does not take a genius to understand that by successful, she means a wealthy man. A man of means. Going by the example she gives as her kind of man, Tyler Perry, she has dropped all the hint any one needs to know concerning her idea of a successful man. Perry is an ultra-rich American actor, comedian, producer, director, screenwriter, playwright, author, and songwriter.
The problem i see with Linda is that she is often too open about her feelings. I will advise that in her search for a man that she should keep some of her criterias private. This is not America, this is not oyibo land where women can say and do anything with minimal or no consequence. Emotional intelligence is knowing your environment and adapting to it; especially when it comes to utterances, actions etc. It is not everything the heart conceives that must be uttered publicly.
Dear Linda, you can’t have it both ways. You can’t eat your cake and have it too. Being a very successful woman in Nigeria, you must be willing to compromise when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex. You might not be a girl, due to your high level, a man can tell what to do or what not to do, but you must not say such out loud, you must give vibes that you can be told what to do by your man, you must do your best to show them the utmost respect, the most respect you can muster to give them. You are going to have to eat humble pies for your man many a times. And it is okay my darling, it will take nothing away from you. Let the man to feel he is in control. You must try and do that. It is not an option, it is necessary.
By your success alone, you have made many men feel a bit less manly, and so to even rub it in by reading them riot acts to them, is an overkill. Humility is a natural gift, those who are humble by nature will remain humble even if they become the richest on earth. But humility can be learned too, in dealing with the opposite sex you will need a mighty doze of humility, nnem, learn it if by force biko. Always remember that a man is a man is man is a man. Respect matter to a man; no matter his status and class. Linda, in the end you will have the last laugh, when you are running around with your cute kids doing one or two things and your hubby by your side. When you are compromising and eating them humble pies, think of your family (your own kid/s and man) and it will all be worth it.
By virtue of you being a very successful woman, African woman for that matter, no matter who you marry, it is not going to be easy. But if you do your math properly, do some adjustments and amendments, you won’t have any regrets. Life as we know it is not a bed of roses for anyone, if you have this, you might not have that, so it’s all about compromise and middle-ground.
You are a very public figure. Your public utterances must be guided. By virtue of your rag to riches success story; you have become an involuntary role model to many; including me. You are intelligent but you need to take a class on emotional intelligence. Be very mindful of your public statements please. I wish you more success in life. Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
Maria Ude Nwachi (Afikpo Chic).
#BCEL – Best Chic Ever Liveth (Nwanyi Afikpo)’.
Ace comedian Teju Oyelakin (aka Teju Babyface), is proud to tell anyone who cares to listen that he married the love of his life, Tobi.
In this interview with Vanguard, the lovely couple who are four years strong in marriage, open up on their love and challenges as a celebrity couple.
Marrying a friend
On the issue of marrying my friend, the truth is that we became friends after getting married. I mean really good friends. Before we married, we were friends who were attracted to each other because of the qualities we saw in each other. But it was after we got married that we really started to bond at the deepest level of marital friendship. You know what I think? A combination of fidelity and weathering storms together brings about those results and that kind of friendship.
Regrets
Not a single one. In fact, I wish I had gotten married to her earlier. Perhaps two years earlier. I often tell her that if I had married someone else (whilst the opportunity was there to marry her) and I saw her walk into a room, I would have had the deepest type of regret.
After four years in marriage
I believe you can tell from my answers thus far that the experience has been instructive. I won’t say that every single day has been a picnic or cake walk. Heck, the sun doesn’t shine everyday in life. That’s why they give you an A grade if you score 75% in school. No one expects you to score 100%. In fact, no one can score that consistently. You be God? So, we are at that 75% A grade level.
Before tying nuptial knot
Well, quite a number of things but one of the most instructive ones was that she was there when my father died. That was a big one. I can’t even begin to put into words what that did to cement our relationship. She might have missed it too because she had been out of the country and decided to come in a day earlier. If she came in at the time she had originally intended (a day later), it would have been after my father died and somehow I think that might have taken away from the depth of bonding that painful period afforded us.
Being popular and handsome
My experience can be culled from a saying of the Yoruba people which my father used in counselling me several times before he died: “Ni’gba ara l’a bu’ra. Enikan ki i bu Sango l’erun” (Sango only answers by thunder in the rainy season. Therefore, no matter how devout, no disciple invokes the god of thunder in summer and gets an answer. There is a right time to do everything). Let us just say I had my day during my dating years and when that lifestyle was no longer tenable, I was blessed to not only know it but also to find a wife, a good thing and my help mate.
First impression about wife
In fact, when I was less than charitable, I would think she was arrogant. Why? This is because she literally told me to buzz off the first few times I approached her. I was like ‘ehn? me?’. Plus she always had a perpetual scowl. I mean, it made her more attractive but it was a scowl nonetheless. It all disappeared the first time I saw her smile.
Sex before marriage
Lord knows I didn’t always live and behave like that, but, somehow, I was fortunate to discover not only the truth but also the strength in keeping the marriage bed undefiled before I got married to my wife. My father was also very insistent that I should not sleep with the woman I would marry. He would say ‘look, one can even make a mistake and slip up but don’t make it a lifestyle!’ Plus my wife was having none of it! For where?
Each other’s judgement
But of course. Who else’s counsel should one trust? I mean, it doesn’t mean that I always take her counsel (and she mine) but the veracity of it is never in doubt.
What he doesn’t like about wife
There are even things I don’t like about myself! Who is perfect? I wouldn’t say there are things I don’t like. Let us just say there are things I would change about her if I had the power. Having said that, there are things I would change about myself too and I am sure she shares the same sentiment. Having your spouse exactly the way you want would make for a boring co-existence I think.
Wife Speaks: We really bonded on the set of his Teju Babyface TV show
Finding love
Of course it was. I knew he was a popular person but I didn’t let that get into me. I decided to take him for who he was/is and of course there was love.
Sharing him with another woman
Not at all! I didn’t even see him that way. So, it was a no brainier really. A non-issue if you like.
Meeting him when he was nobody
Nobody? He was already The Teju Babyface when I met him. In fact, we really bonded on the set of his Teju Babyface show during the first season recording in 2010. I had come to fill in as a make-up artiste for their regular person and that was when we really spoke for the first time.
Before meeting him
I was an industrious young woman (if I may say so myself), so it was always from one audition to the other. I dated a bit but nothing really deep or emotional.
Making a choice between numerous suitors
Again, I guess they were there, including my husband. He likes to share a story of how I never gave him the time of day when he met me the first time. Lol. True somewhat. He met me while I was working at an event and, as I have said, I had industry firmly in my sight in those days. So I didn’t really see the suitors I guess.
Die to marry him again?
No way. We both believe in life in Jesus Christ. We will live a full life here and hook up again in heaven when we both go in many decades time. No death anywhere around us.
A bitter ex is coming after Blossom Chukwujekwu and his newly married wife, Maureen Esisi.
The 33-year-old Nollywood actor who tied the knot a few weeks ago, is already at the center of a baby mama dilemma.
Yesterday, his wife shared several photos from a surprise birthday party she threw for him in Lagos.
In the comment section of one of the photos, an anon account with the name, Jennifer John, posted several incriminating messages, accusing the actor of fathering a child with her before he married his wife.
Some of Maureen’s followers have asked her to ignore the comments – because it could be from a bitter ex who can’t get over the fact that Blossom didn’t wife her.

The young lady told her story on break_or_makeup where she told stunned readers about her thievish past.
According to her, she had slept with and stolen from many men in the past and didn’t see anything wrong with that at the time.
However, she had just discovered that a particular man she stole from now happens to be her fiance’s elder brother. Needless to say, this revelation has left her totally confused and battered.
She now seeks an urgent solution out of the whole mess,
An unidentified soldier was on Monday beaten to pulp for allegedly stealing an iPhone belonging to a young lady on gun point, yesterday.
According to Daily Post, the lady raised alarm at the popular Robson G. Shopping plaza, along Okumagba Avenue in Warri after recognizing the soldier.
Sensing danger, the soldier, who was putting on military camourflage tried to escape from the scene with a knife in his hand.
However, the angry mob gave him a hot chase out of the plaza to Erhiovo and Ogbodu streets near, Olodi Primary School, where they gave him the beating of his life, with his inner wears stained with blood.
It took the intervention of mobile policemen on guard at the shopping plaza to save him from the hands of the angry mob.
The mobile policemen escorted him to the residence of former Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. David Ejoor to confirm if he was truly a personnel of the Nigerian Army.
The Army personnel on Guard at Maj. Gen. David Ejoor’s residence dispersed the angry mob and refused to hand over the unidentified soldier to police officers from the Nigeria Police Force ‘B’ Division in Warri.
An Army van later came and whisked the soldier away to the Nigerian Army Barrack, 3 Battalion, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area.
As at now, the Army is yet to confirm if the unidentified officer is a personnel of the Nigerian Army.
But a source within the Barracks said, “we could not question the unidentified officer; he has been referred to the hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained from the angry mob.”

His mother Sumitra, 36, said he had his lunch on Saturday, lay down to watch TV and at around 3pm passed away.
The family cremated Mahendra in a traditional Hindu ceremony at the weekend, surrounded by 25 friends and family.

Mrs Folorunsho Alakija has described the current economic downturn as the price that Nigerians need to pay to get the desired change.
She said this, last week, at the 2016 Excellence in Leadership Conference organised by Daystar Christian Centre.
She said it takes time for change to take place adding that Nigerians are not exercising enough patience with the present administration and are expecting it to perform magic.
Alakija said apart from Nigerians looking unto God for help, they should also go back to the basics because the nation has done things outside the way of God and everyone is paying the price.
“Everyone has to pay the price because it is a learning process of the ills that have taken place in the country, we have been too docile as a people, we allow people to get away with a lot of evils that they are doing, they should pay the price for what they have done, everyone is bearing the brunt now, we need to learn from our past mistakes. Some of the things we are doing wrong are not cutting our coat according to our sizes,” she said.
The spokesperson of the group calling itself the Association of Virgin Pastors, Job Antwi say he regrets breaking his virginity very late.
The Man of God who tied the knot last weekend said, he never knew there was something sweet in a women until he married.
“I never knew sex is this sweet; since I was born I have not experienced this before. It is sweeter than everything, in fact I wish I can do it every day” he stated in an interview on Joy FM’s Weekend City show.
Recounting his first experience, Apostle Antwi said he nearly cried because he didn’t want to disappoint his newly wife.
But, he said his wife whom he claimed is experienced sexually, assisted him to navigate his way through the ‘Garden of Eden’ very easily.
“My wife has dated before and has experience so she taught me how to do it. I love my wife than every lady on this earth” he stressed.
Job Antwi maintained that, he is still anointed and powerful even after breaking his virginity since he is lawfully married.
“If you marry in the Lord and you sleep with a woman, God likes it so still the power of God is upon me” he stated.
Apostle Antwi who described himself as a patron of the Virgin pastors said he will soon announce the new president of the group.
The Lagos State Government over the weekend banned LAGBUS (red buses) from plying the Ikorodu Road corridor with effect from today.
The state government said the decision was to introduce Intelligent Traffic System along the BRT corridor, and that all other franchises, apart from the BRT (blue buses) had to relocate from the corridor.
However, it was a nightmare for residents of Ikorodu, this morning when it was brought to their notice that the red bus drivers and hoodlums shut down the BRT Lanes, hindering Blue buses from operating.
The ban has left people plying Ilorodu -Mile 12-Ketu- Ojota-Maryland-Oshodi route, stranded since 6am.
The acting Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Olarenwaju Elegushi, said all LAGBUS buses could only provide end to end bus services using the expressway and service lanes along the Ikorodu road stretch.
He said the state government was determined to enhance and boost commuters’ experience along the corridor, adding that the present arrangement had constrained the capacity of the BRT bus services to cater for the people.
News reports that Chidinma Okeke, the former Miss Anambra whose lewd videos recently went viral on the internet, had been declared missing by her family, are “very far from the truth”, her father has said.
Jerry Okeke, who spoke to Premium Times by phone Saturday evening, said his daughter was fine.
“My daughter is not missing and at no time did I declare her missing,” Mr. Okeke said.
Mr. Okeke said after the scandal sent shockwaves across the country, the family immediately moved to save Miss Okeke, 20, from committing suicide.
Mr. Okeke said he handed over his “little girl” to another family member because he had to travel to the family’s ancestral home for another engagement.
He denied news report quoting him as declaring his daughter missing in the aftermath of the racy video.
“I have been trying to make contact with one of The Sun newspapers that published the story because they want to sell (market) and I will give them a seven-day notice to correct it,” Mr. Okeke said.
But The Sun says it stands by its story.
Bruce Malogo, the editor of Saturday Sun which published the story, told Premium Times the headline was appropriate for the direct quotes from Mr. Okeke, which he said were on the record.
“As it stands now, my daughter is still a small girl. I don’t know whether she is still alive or dead. But all I know is that God will prove Himself worthy to fight His children’s battle. I don’t have much to say for now,” the paper quoted Mr. Okeke as saying.
Mr. Okeke, however, maintained his ground.
“I did not tell press man that called me from The Sun that my daughter is missing or that I couldn’t find her,” Mr. Okeke reaffirmed.
Specifically, Mr. Okeke said he told The Sun reporter that the family was holding on to God for a breakthrough in the wake of the scandal.
“I will allow them (police) to do that (their job), but I know my daughter was drugged by some people who took advantage of her as a young woman.”

Richard Wanyonyi, who is the owner of the goat revealed that he caught Gabrielle Simiyu, 26, red-handed having s*x with the goat at his Nangwe village home after hearing bleating from the goats but he escaped.
“I heard the goats bleating when I was sleeping and decided to go and find out why. It was dark so I took my time and when I reached there I saw someone jump and go to the cow shed but he forgot his shoes,” said Richard Wanyonyi.

Hoodlums, speculated to be cult members, on Saturday unleashed terror in the Ijagun, Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State, during which they killed a final-year student of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun.
According to PUNCH Metro, the cult members, who were armed with cutlasses and guns, at about 12pm invaded Abapawa – an area off the campus – and chased students, during which the victim, Ganiyu Oloyede, was hacked to death.
Oloyede was said to be a 400-level student of Social Studies in TASUED.
It was learnt that Oloyede was hacked to death by the cult members because his girlfriend, whose name could not yet be ascertained, was beaten up by one of the cult members, and the victim had reportedly challenged the assault.
It was said that the cult members later mobilised to the hostel where Oloyede, who was preparing for his teaching practice stayed and killed him.
Punch adds that there was tension in Abapapawa, as students shut themselves in, while the cult attack persisted. Policemen from the Obalende division later arrived at the scene to remove Oloyede’s corpse to a mortuary.
A female student and eyewitness, who gave her name only as Bisola, said Oloyede, aka Agunrege, was killed as a result of the cult clash between Aye and Aloera confraternities.
She said:
“The crisis started at about 12pm in Abapawa in Ijagun. The area has several students’ hostels. I saw the boys running around with cutlasses. They were later said to be Aye and Aloera cult members.
“They chased Ganiyu (Oloyede) to a corner and cut him with cutlasses until he died. What started the fight was that Ganiyu had a girlfriend who was beaten up few days ago by one of the cult members. The cult member was said to be interested in the lady.
“Ganiyu had protested the beating of his girlfriend by the cult member and the culprit went to invite his friends, who attacked Ganiyu. Students are still in fear because the cult members are threatening to unleash more mayhem.”
Another student, who did not want his name in print, said the cult members came on a reprisal to attack a rival cult member, but Ganiyu was the one they met in the hostel.
He said:
“On getting to Ganiyu’s hostel, the cult members did not meet the person they came to attack. When they saw Ganiyu, one of them recalled that he had had an issue with him (Ganiyu) over a girlfriend. So, they vented their anger on him.
“Right now, Ijagun is hot and the soldiers who came to restore normalcy are only arresting and harassing innocent students. The cult members have all gone into hiding after the killing. We want the police to intensify their patrol around the campus. We want our peace to be restored.”
Punch gathered that Oloyede’s corpse had been deposited by the police in a morgue in Ijebu Ode for an autopsy. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the killing.
He said:
“There was a clash between members of the Aye and Aloera cults in an area around the university.
“When the policemen got to the scene, the deceased, a 400-level student, was found dead with machete cuts. The body has been deposited in a morgue for an autopsy. Normalcy has been restored to the area now. Meanwhile, effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspects.”
The Public Relations Officer, TASUED, Nureni Bakenne, said the deceased student was supposed to undergo a teaching practice.
“The school, through its chief security officer, has put in place several security measures to prevent a recurrence. “Our school has not witnessed a cult clash in a long time,” he added.
Terrorist group, ISIS has called for the “slaughter’ of Americans voting in Tuesday’s Presidential election. The dreadful group has called on its followers to attack voters in the election and has told Muslims not to cast a vote.
It comes after the FBI was reportedly probing a major terror attack planned for the day before the US elections in multiple states. It is thought that al-Qaeda is plotting to strike in Texas, New York and Virginia but specific locations are not yet known.
The new ISIS threats, reported by terrorist monitoring group SITE, were made in an essay published by the terror group’s Al Hayat media centre.
The essay said that militants “have come to slaughter you and smash your ballot boxes“.
According to Mirror UK, the terror group also wrote there is no difference between the Republican and Democratic parties in the US in their “policies against Islam and Muslims”.
The threat comes as polls prepare to open for the closely-fought race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
A 25-year-old woman, Ogochukwu Nwosu, is in a critical condition at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Surulere, Lagos State, after she was bathed with substance suspected to be acid.
It was learnt that Ogochukwu was at Ilasa bus stop, on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, when a man allegedly dropped from a motorcycle and poured acid on her.He was said to have jumped back on the motorcycle and fled the scene.
The victim, who sustained burns on her face, neck, breasts, among other parts of her body, was reportedly rushed to LUTH by passersby.
Ogochukwu, who spoke with a PUNCH Metro correspondent from her hospital bed, accused one Mrs. Chidi, the wife of the man who had proposed marriage to her, as the culprit. She alleged that Mrs. Chidi had been threatening her on the telephone and through text messages immediately she learnt of her husband’s intention to marry her (Ogochukwu).
She said she had turned down Mr. Chidi’s proposal because he was married, adding that the latter persisted.
“On Thursday, I had closed from Computer Village where I work. Around 8pm, when I reached Ilasa bus stop, I dropped off the bus.
“I was about to cross to the other side of the road when a man dropped from a motorcycle and poured something on me. He immediately fled on the motorcycle. People came to my rescue and took me to the hospital.
“I suspect Mrs. Chidi because she had been threatening me before the incident. And while I was on admission at the hospital, she called and spoke with my brother, saying that was just the beginning,” she added.
Ogochukwu’s brother, Peter, said he recorded a part of the conversation with Mrs. Chidi on his mobile phone.
Peter said he reported the incident at the Itire Police Division, adding that Mrs. Chidi was arrested and detained for two days before the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.
It was gathered that the police admitted the suspect to bail shortly after the matter got to the SCIID.
PUNCH Metro learnt that counsel to the victim, Louis Nwaugbala and Anthony Obi, had already petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Headquarters, Abuja, over the matter.
A copy of the petition, obtained by our correspondent, read in part,
“Sometime in 2012, one Mr. Chidi approached our client and started making advances to her and promised to marry her. But she vehemently refused the proposal. She told him that she was not interested in the marriage since he was already married.
“Upon Mr. Chidi’s insistence of wanting to marry our client and even making preparations to visit our client’s family to formalise the marriage rites, our client advised Mr. Chidi to inform his wife of his plans to take our client as his second wife, since both of them will be cohabiting in the same house.
“Immediately Mr. Chidi made his plans known to his wife, all hell broke loose as Mrs. Chidi started calling and persistently threatening our client’s life through phone calls, text and Whatsapp messages.”
The petition alleged that the suspect threatened to wreak havoc before December 2016, the purported month of the traditional marriage between Mr. Chidi and Ogochukwu.
It added that Ogochukwu was persuaded against reporting the threat to the police by Mr. Chidi, who allegedly promised to persuade his wife to accept the union.
It said tragedy struck when the victim was attacked while she was returning from work on Thursday, October 6, 2016.
Nwaugbala, the victim’s lawyer, said justice must be served in the case, adding that Ogochukwu must be flown abroad for plastic surgery by the suspect and her husband.
“That is the only thing that can assuage the damage presently done to her. She should be flown abroad for treatment,” he added.
When contacted, Mr. Chidi declined comment. He said,
“I cannot speak with you, neither can my wife. The case is under investigation at the SCIID. Go and speak with the police at Panti; they are the ones investigating it. We cannot make any comment.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.
She explained that Mrs. Chidi was released on bail because she could not be directly linked to the attack.
She said, “It was reported that the victim was bathed with acid by two men on a motorcycle. The victim alleged that she suspected the woman because she (the victim) is a girlfriend to Mr. Chidi and because she (victim) might likely marry the man, Mrs. Chidi might have planned the attack.
“Mrs. Chidi was picked up, made to undergo investigation and the command could not get any clue linking her to the case for now. And to protect her right, she was granted bail. Investigation is still ongoing to unravel what actually happened. Anyone linked to the case will be duly prosecuted.”
