President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected the criticism that his handling of the economy led the country into a recession.
Speaking at the State House,in Abuja during a meeting with the Senior Executive Course No 38 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS), he said that it was not his administration that led the country into recession.
The president said: “In the last one and half years of this administration, the economy has experienced some tough times, particularly with the decline in oil revenues, which has some harsh impacts on Nigerians at the grassroots.
“It is also important to note that the economic recession is not the making of this administration, but rather a consequence of bad management of the economy in the past couple of decades. Nor is recession limited to Nigeria; there are far, far worse cases than Nigeria.”
The president, however, said that no matter the scale of the problem facing the country, the important thing was how to tackle it.
He said his administration was committed to finding lasting solutions to the nation’s economic structural imbalance.
“Let us have faith in our great nation that we will come out of this recession vibrant and strong,” he added.
The president said it was impossible for his administration to ignore the poor who made great sacrifice to bring him to government.
He said: “Ours more than any other government in the history of Nigeria is a people’s government. We therefore must and we will keep faith with the people.”

Receiving the Executive Committee Members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) from 19 Northern States and Abuja, at State House, Thursday, the President equally pledged to restore peace to all parts of the country, noting: “Restoring peace is a top priority.
We will enable the law enforcement agencies to combat all forms of violent crimes, and ensure that our people live in peace.”
President Buhari urged the clerics to promote religious harmony, by “enhancing understanding among different faiths.”
He also disclosed that the government would maintain the priority it has placed on agriculture and mines and steel development, “to kick-start the economy.”
The Chairman of CAN in the 19 Northern States and Abuja, Rev. Yakubu Pam, said it was not a mistake that God chose President Buhari to lead the country at these challenging times.
“We are ready to support your administration to deliver good governance. You have good intentions for Nigeria, judging from the programs that have been outlined,” Rev. Pam said.
He also highlighted ethnoreligious challenges in the country, freedom of worship, and herdsmen/farmers’ clashes in their discussion with the President.
The CAN leader commended the Buhari administration for the blow dealt Boko Haram insurgents, “leading to comparative peace in the North-east,” the return of 21 abducted schoolgirls from Chibok, and the anti-corruption war, which he urged “should be fought to the logical conclusion.”

We all as individuals love cold stuffs especially after a sunny hectic day, we need some cold drinks or water to refresh and cool our body. This includes even me that’s writing this to you all lol; But we need to know this and how to minimize the rate at which we take in cold drinks regularly.
According to Natural Law, our normal body temperature is about 98.6 degrees F. If we raise that temperature a few degrees, the body starts to show signs of distress, and we say we have a fever. We try hard to return to homeostasis or normal functioning.
Experts have said drinking cold water regularly could have negative impact on the heart and the digestive system. Food and healthy living expert say that cold water is at a temperature that contradicts the overall temperature within the body system.

1. Slows down digestion: Drinking ice water or cold water hampers the process of digesting food as it causes your blood vessels to shrink. This can slow down the process of digestion and as the food is not digested properly, the nutrients are lost or not absorbed by the body.
2. May lead to sore throat: Drinking cold water can cause the buildup of respiratory mucosa, which is a protective layer of the respiratory tract. When this layer gets congested, the respiratory tract is exposed and becomes vulnerable to various infections and hence the chances of your throat turning sore are high.
3. Shortage of nutrients: The body’s temperature is 37o C and when you drink something at a very low temperature, your body has to spend energy to regulate its temperature. This spent energy is otherwise used to digest food and absorb nutrients, thereby leaving your body short of nutrition.
4. Decreases your heart rate: Drinking ice water or cold water decreases your heart rate. Studies have shown that drinking ice water stimulates the vagus nerve.
The vagus nerve is the 10th cranial nerve and is an important part of the body’s autonomous nervous system that controls involuntary actions of the body. The vagus nerve mediates the lowering of the heart rate and the low temperatures of ice cold water act as a stimulus to the nerve which causes the heart rate to drop.
In conclusion, take water at a normal temperature, the brain is sensitive to temperature change which is why it freezes when one drinks cold water at first, adding that such continuous seizure is not good for it, more so that is why we advise people not to take drugs with cold water.
The drugs will not digest on time; it means you won’t get the best of the drugs because the water did not dissolve on time.

A Zimbabwean woman has revealed details about her sexual prowess and claimed the boyfriend thinks she used love portion to tie him down.
Talent Taderera, 22, said she is very good in bed that is why the boyfriend cannot get enough of her and keeps cheating on the wife. This came to light after Talent accused the boyfriend of leaking her n*de photos.
She said because she is a master in s*x so her on-off boyfriend Anesu Gondo, 26, can not let her go. Gondo is a former Dynamos striker now plying his trade in South Africa. She also claimed the footie ace suspected her of using love potions to drive him crazy, H-metro reports.
“He has been telling people in my neighbourhood as well as my relatives that I use love potions on him but that is not true. There is nothing mysterious about how he feels. The only reason I am sure he cannot take me out of his life is because our s*x life was great.

“My life is in the hands of this woman, she used juju on me and I cannot resist her. I no longer want her in my life but I would be lying if I say I no longer love her. The reason I have decided to publicize this issue is because I want to expose the juju she uses on me. I am confident that the way I feel towards her in influenced by juju because it has been confirmed by different prophets whom I have gone to consult,” he said.
Anesu went on to reveal that even though they were currently on separation they were always meeting regularly for s*x.
“I am so surprised by my actions because I always find myself going back to her. I am sure she can even confirm what I am saying. A former staff of Oceanic Bank Aliyu Suleiman on Wednesday was sentenced to 195 years imprisonment for fraud by Justice Dije Abdu Aboki of the Kano State High Court.
The convict was arraigned by the EFCC on the September 30, 2014, for allegedly stealing over N21m from Albasu Microfinance Bank. Upon his arraignment, the convict pleaded not guilty to all the count charge brought against him by the EFCC.
Delivering her judgment Justice Aboki sentenced the convict to serve two years on each of count one to forty four and fine of N300,000 on each. Where the convict defaults the fine, he is to serve additional six months imprisonment on each count.
From count 45 to 74, the convict was sentenced to fine of N500,000 or twelve months imprisonment on each count while on count 75 to 105, he is to pay fine of N200,000 or twelve months imprisonment on each count with the exception of count 97 which appeared to be duplication.
The sentences were to run concurrently. The convict was also ordered to restitute the sum of N14.8m to the Albasu Community or spend five more years in prison.
The convict was a former staff of Oceanic Bank and was entrusted by the Albasu Community to take charge of their Microfinance Bank. While in charge, the convict violated that trust and siphoned over N21m by forging signatures of the other signatories to the funds.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, said that he almost left the country upon assumption when he discovered that the national treasury was empty.
Buhari took over from former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan of the People’s Democratic Party who has been accused of monumental fraud with several public office holders associated with him currently being probed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The president said he was utterly bewildered to notice that despite the rising cost of crude oil from which Nigeria made a fortune, nothing was left for him to start off his administration, according to the Vanguard.
He spoke while receiving annual report from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Plateau State at the presidential villa, Abuja on Thursday.
“I felt absconding from the country due to the economic challenges.. We inherited a badly managed economy”, he said.
This statement is expected to lead to another round of political brickbats from the opposition party and their sympathizers.

A woman in Ilorin told a court to dissolve her two year marriage because she refused to stay in purdah, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The purdah practice requires married Muslim women to stay in separate rooms, behind a curtain or dress in all-enveloping clothes, in other to say out of the sight of men or strangers.
But Azanat Bashiru told the court that Mumin Bashiru, her husband of two years and father of their two children, did not tell her before they got married in 2014 that she would be put in purdah.
“This is not in our agreement. I cannot be covering my body with black cloth, including my eyes, all of the time,’’ she said. Mumin did not raise any objection. “If she doesn’t agree to be in purdah, she is free to go,’’ he said. But he demanded custody of their two children.

A teenager has claimed that she is nine months pregnant and is carrying baby Jesus – but even her own church and mother don’t believe her. They think she’s mad!

Haley, 19, who sports a real rounded stomach, has undergone several pregnancy tests and a pelvic exam, which have all come back negative.
But the teen is adamant that she is about to give birth, as she told the Dr Phil show: “I am pregnant, and it is Jesus.”
Hayley’s mother Kristi describes her daughter as a “compulsive liar” and is “delusional”, listing some of her alleged previous tales including that her baby’s father is Eminem and also that she had donated a kidney to her older brother.
Kris believes that Haley is lying about her pregnancy too.
“The first time I heard her say that, she actually was saying it was Jesus Christ in her stomach. I looked at her like she had lost her mind. She was just going off into a delusional tailspin,” Kristi said.
But Haley claimed that she is about to give birth to a baby boy and disregards what the pregnancy test results.
“My family, my friends, my pastors at church, they don’t believe that I’m pregnant. I know it’s Jesus. I don’t care if my family disowns me. It really comes down to if you’re a true believer in Jesus or not … I don’t care what the home pregnancy test or a doctor says, when I give birth to my baby, no one is going to deny him because he’s my saviour,” Haley said.
The teen is adamant that her pregnancy “is real” and revealed that she had gained nearly two stone.
“I was sleeping one night and my baby punched the bottom of my stomach and kicked me, and I can feel his head right here, right below my belly button,” she said.
On the show, Haley revealed that she had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
Her mother begged for help with her daughter, as Kristi said: “I can’t keep living like this. We have to treat her like she’s actually pregnant to avoid conflict. I’m hoping Dr. Phil can let me know if this is part of her act or does she really need help.”

According to The Bug Campus, an aborted foetus identified by medical students to be about five-months old was discovered by students in the Mother of Jesus The Saviour hostel at Madonna University on Tuesday
The baby is said to have been removed from the Catholic university known for it’s high level of discipline.

The wife of the Vice-President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, has joined other well-meaning Nigerians to call for prayers for Nigeria.
She was speaking at the Arise 2016 conference which held recently at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David Parish in Lagos. With the theme, ‘Grace to Grace,’ the event brought together professional women under one umbrella.
In her remarks, Osinbajo noted that “Nigeria is a vibrant and virile land that is full of colour, gold and silver as well as various mineral resources.”
However, she added sadly that the country had not yet reached where it should be at the moment due to some inherent problems.
Mrs. Osinbajo said, “We need to pray for Nigeria because it is not yet there. What God intended for us as a country, we have not yet attained. We must therefore establish the fact that we need God at all times.”
She later offered prayers for the nation.
Also, the wife of the Kwara State Governor, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed, who led one of the prayer sessions, admonished Nigerians to be forthright in their dealings with one another, if they wanted the country to move forward.
Dignitaries at the event included the wife of the Imo Governor, Mrs. Nneoma Rochas-Okorocha, and her Benue State counterpart, Mrs. Eunice Ortom.
Others were the former deputy governors of Lagos State, Princess Sarah Sosan and Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire respectively, Honourable Abike Dabiri, and the wife of the Minister for Solid Minerals minister,Mrs. Bisi Fayemi.

A driver, one Mr. Jacob Elegbede, who attempted to hang himself behind a primary school in Zanda, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has blamed spiritual forces, saying he did not know what came over him.
The 48-year old father of one stated that he was not himself when he climbed a tree in an attempt to commit suicide in a nearby bush,
noting that he simply found himself on the tree along with the rope he wanted to use to kill himself.
Elegbede, who worked with a construction company in Abuja, twice attempted to hang himself on Saturday and Sunday, prompting his neighbours to alert policemen, who arrested him.
Before the suicide attempt, he had written a note in which took responsibility for the planned crime and also asked for forgiveness from his family and neighbours.
Elegbede, who hails from Badagry, Lagos, also listed the names of his creditors whom he owed various amounts, craving their forgiveness.
The suspect, in an interview with Punch Metro at the FCT Police Command, Abuja, on Wednesday, explained that his problem began about 18 months ago, when he started suffering from insomnia.
He said his situation got worse when he started having strange dreams and suffering from hot flashes in his head and chest.
He said:
“I also started having strange dreams in which I find myself having intercourse with strange women and even animals. I worship at the Mountain of Fire and Miracle church in Abuja, but I couldn’t go for prayers or deliverance because I work from Monday to Sunday and there was no time for any other thing. I believe my problem is spiritual because I can’t even explain how I found myself on the tree with a rope to hang myself.”
Asked about the suicide note that was recovered by the police, Elegbede, stated that he could not remember writing the said letter because he had no pen or paper in his room.
“I strongly believe some spiritual forces were behind my problem because while I was in the cell last Saturday, I had a wet dream in which a dog was licking my private parts,” he said.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Mustafa, said the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigation, adding that attempted suicide was a criminal offence.
It was an incredible testimony for a seasoned commercial sex worker, who in September 2016 was among the commercial sex workers evangelized by the G.O of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Dr. Chibuzor Chinyere, from a well known brothel in Diobu, Port Harcourt, to be happily joined to her husband.
According to the G.O, he said, part of his evangelism message to the converts, was a promise that he will not only provided accommodations for them, set up businesses for them, but to also participate and bankroll their traditional and church weddings, should any of them, in the cause of her services to God, find any man of her choice to marry.
The over excited bride in her reactions said, “In my life, Saturday 28th September, 2016 can not be forgotten in a hurry. It was the day I met with the G.O in our brothel at Diobu, where my life was messed up with prostitution.”
The groom said “I knew this my wife some years back but have lost contact with her, I am not a member of OPM but I appreciated the good work of Daddy OPM. He sponsored my wedding and provided an accommodation for us to leave after the ceremony, he made my day worth celebrating. I pray God to continue to bless him and the member of the Church”.
