Popular for his hit song Soul E Baba Dey Here, music star-turned-prophet, Emmanuel Ifechukwu Okose, better known as Soul E, has been keeping a low profile. This is after answering to call to God’s service.
In this interview with DUPE AYINLA, the singer speaks on his ministry, healing and new lifestyle.
TELL us about your new found love; the ministry?
The calling of God is not what a man can explain. God’s call is the sweetest thing that can happen to any man privileged enough to be chosen by Him. And one thing about God is, he does not look at the opinion of men to call anybody.
He looks at the heart of that man. Music is still part of my ministry, but that’s not my main calling. My main calling is to save souls and that’s what I have been doing for the past five years now.
How did your friends react when you answered the call?
I have never had friends. I just respect people, even when I was into secular music. I was always a one man army, the only friend I have is the Holy Spirit.
How about your fans? Were you able to gauge their reaction?
Like I said, I did not call myself. God called me. And it’s better to follow the call of God than look at the reaction of men.
Why did you have to relocate to Abuja?
I have been living in Abuja since 2008 and when God wants to use a man He separates you to teach you something and then launch you Himself.
Was it that business was not rosy again like when you started off?
I stopped singing because I heard the call. It has nothing to do with business being rosy or not. When God’s hand is upon a man, if you don’t obey, He can kill you and raise someone else. So I had to obey what God had in stock for me.
People go into the ministry and later backslide for one reason or another. Are you working towards forestalling such occurrence?
Well I don’t know about others, but I never went into the ministry by my own self. I went into the ministry because I was called by God. So if He called me the evidence will prove itself.
You also predicted that some entertainers will go down, and none has taken place yet. Won’t this make people doubt your calling?
My prophecy is not for debate, neither is it understood by a carnal mind. I did what God asked me to do and I have prayed for them. That’s all I can tell you.
How long do you think you can stand the test of time?
There is no test because I’m not in this by my power. The Holy Spirit has been my strength since 2009 till now. I am more blessed than when I was doing secular music so I’m grateful to God.
Do you have your own ministry? How was it like building one?
Yes I have my own ministry called Soul E Ministries. We have been doing programmes for the past seven years around Africa, and it’s been amazing.
Would you say being a star has also helped pull crowd to your church?
Crowd does not come because you are a star. Crowd comes where there is power. In my ministry, I have seen miracles, unexplainable supernatural move of God that can only tell that man can’t do this but God, and He takes the glory.
How expensive is it being a preacher?
Well I’m not in the ministry to show off. I am here for souls; so asking me how expensive it’s been, God has been my source. Appearing bad is made for native doctors not ministers of God. Every minister should look great; that’s how God that called us to look. We are made in His image so we should look good.
The picture of the lady you posted, what happened to her?
This girl was in my meeting in South Africa. She was confirmed to be HIV positive. The doctors said she would die in less than a month. She was brought to me; I called upon my God and look after her, after one week, she was totally healed.
It is believed that there is no cure for HIV. Won’t people see this as being diabolical?
I have seen all kinds of miracles. Jesus is real. There is cure for all kinds of sicknesses and that is Jesus Christ the son of the living God. People will always have their opinion about you, but it’s better for the world to be against you while God stands by you. I will be doing a prophetic meeting soon in Lagos; the blind can come. Those that are affected by HIV can come and see the God of evidence heal them totally
Now that you no longer do secular music, do you still get royalties for your old songs?
No I don’t. Every aspect of my past remains in my past. I started a new life seven years ago and that’s what I live by. I have never gone hungry.
Do you have any gospel songs set for release?
Yes I have four albums ready to be released from next year. I will start releasing videos and singles of the new Soul E, so watch out for that.
Will you honour invitation to collaborate with secular artistes?
When God calls a man, he leaves his past and follows God. I can’t do songs with people that are not in the same vision as me.
You have also kept a very low profile?
I have been under training by God so I had to stay away from the crowd. That’s why nothing has been heard of Soul E for years now. People have been wondering where I was. I was under training by God and this is the set time for my showing forth.
What are the changes in your lifestyle?
You were asking me about my change in lifestyle. The way God has blessed me is five times of what I used to have doing what I was doing before. You can’t work for God and not prosper.

Comrade Adeshola in an interview with Vanguard also disclosed that the new policy of the Lagos state government under the leadership of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is collaborating with the association to give Bus Conducting profession a new look.
According to him, “presently Lagos state government through the Lagos State Drivers Institute, LASDRI is training and accrediting conductors in the state, adding that after the training the graduands would be employed as Bus Conductors and would be on the payroll of the government with a salary worth of N50,000 per month.
“The objective is to make the job of bus conducting attractive, respected and dignified as obtainable globally”, he said. Adeshola explained that there is a project in the pipeline by the state government to change the face of transportation system to enhance security and also provide employment opportunity in the state.
Speaking on the vision of the association, he said, since the establishment in 2008, it has been working relentlessly with the federal government through the national assembly as well as some state governments to establish its presence.
President Muhammadu Buhari formally married off his daughter, Fatima, to Malam Yau Gimba Kumo on Friday in Daura, his home town.
The wedding took place at the president’s residence on Mai’adua road, Daura at about 2.40 p.m.
The groom, who was a former Managing Director of Mortgage Bank, paid N100,000 as the bride price.
The marriage was contracted in accordance with Islamic injunctions and was attended by top Federal and States’ Government officials.
They included the governors of Gombe, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, and his counterpart from Bauchi, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar. The Ministers of Interior, Mr Abdurrahman Dambazau; Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali; Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; Controller-General of Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, and Director-General, Department of State Service, Mr Lawal Musa Daura, also graced the occasion. 1. Fathia Balongun
This is one versatile actress in the yoruba movie industry I never knew she is not originally yoruba until I came across her profile online because she has adapted so well.
Fathia is Urhobo from Delta state. She was born on February 1969 at Ukwara, water side local government area of Delta State, southern Nigeria.
Six-year-old Ryan Coutinho wasn’t used to smiling. He felt embarrassed after losing almost all his teeth at the age of three.
Now he does. And can’t stop showing it.
But getting here wasn’t easy, says dentist Amanda Mattos.
The boy lives in a rural area near Guajeru, a poor town in north-eastern Brazil. He had his teeth pulled out as a result of early cavities. Only a few on his lower arch remained.
Ms Mattos, 25, met Ryan for the first time two years ago, during a social project at the boy’s school.
“I had never seen something like this,” she told the BBC. Ryan’s teacher told her that he avoided smiling and did not engage much with other students.
Ms Mattos offered to treat the boy after contacting the boy’s mother through the teacher. But the mother refused, believing that her son would be reliving the drama of his operation.
“They are all very modest, live outside the town and didn’t understand the procedures,” the dentist said. “They were still shaken by the process that removed all his teeth.”
Ryan’s story could have ended here. But two years later, by coincidence, his mother got a job as a cleaner at the public clinic where Ms Mattos works.
Soon afterwards, the boy had a pain in one of his remaining teeth. He went to the clinic for treatment and met Ms Mattos again.
“I asked him what he wanted. He smiled and said: ‘a smile like my friends’,” the dentist said.
The mother was still reluctant to accept the treatment. But she later talked to the father and they finally agreed to take up the offer.
The town’s public health service did not pay for the procedure, so Ms Mattos, who owns a private clinic in a nearby town, brought equipment and offered to do it for free.
For several weeks, Ryan visited her after school to take X-rays and impressions. He was disappointed every time he returned home without his new teeth, Ms Mattos said.
Then, on 14 October, two days after Brazil’s Children’s Day, he finally got a new smile – a denture for his upper arch.
“We all cried. It was very moving,” the dentist said.
About six months after her marital squabble,it appears talented minstrel, Tiwa Savage, is ready to mend fences with her estranged hubby, Tunji Balogun aka Tee Billz.

A teenager, Mr Ziggy Worrell-Owusu was fatally stabbed to death at an 18th birthday party, on the same night he himself turned 19. He was attacked while he was at the Basement Shisha Lounge in Ilford, north-east London in the early hours of Thursday.
He had gone to the bar in Goodmayes Road to celebrate a friend’s 18th birthday the night before, also his own birthday, but was stabbed during an altercation.
Paramedics took him to hospital but he was pronounced dead at 1.45am. A post-mortem examination found he died from a single stab wound.
A Met spokesman said:
“It has been established that Ziggy had attended an 18th birthday party with a group of his friends at the venue and there were approximately 100 people in attendance.
“At some point during the evening an altercation occurred which led to Ziggy being stabbed.”
Detective Inspector Euan McKeeve said a large number of young people would have witnessed the incident and the events leading up to it, but there have been no arrests.
He said:
“Some of these people may be reluctant to tell police what happened but I would urge them to come forward of their own accord and speak to us.
“We are working through the evidence in our possession to establish who was at the party and we will identify all those who were there.”
He also appealed to parents of teenagers at the party to urge them to come forward.

The source said: “First, this is an investment gone wrong. Chief (name not disclosed) sponsored Chidinma Okeke to win the pageant. Chief spent up to N 2million to ensure she emerged as the winner against other beautiful contestants. Chief also budgeted for her wardrobe and makeover pre and post beauty contest.
The money was released in trenches to Miss Anambra. Chief also took her to various countries including Germany where she met other models based on the contract terms which Miss Chidinma signed with Chief.
“Part of the agreement stipulates that Chief would make her a big model and whatever proceeds that come during her reign would be shared as specified in the contract terms. Chidinma consented and signed the deal.
“Chidinma emerged as the winner of Miss Anambra, got higher connections and wanted to opt out from the contract without repaying all the expenses Chief incurred. Chief warned of the consequences, but she remained adamant. Chief released a picture to her requesting she comply with the payment and remit the money she is holding before her tenure comes to an end. Chidinma feigned ignorance and even boasted that Chief cannot do anything. It was alleged that she disclosed to a close friend that if chief tried to do anything, they would get him arrested. That was the beginning of the leak. Information available also claimed that the current trending video online is mild. That they have one showing longer sex action by Chidinma.
“Based on the above information, and the fact that Chidinma was a consenting adult as at the time the contract was signed, which reasonably supports the logic behind Chidinma’s silence towards naming the perpetrators; I will advise the family to quit the threat they are making to the man and settle this amicably off the media to avoid further embarrassment for my state, other ‘responsible’ beauty pageants because this is seriously casting them in bad light.”
National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has said God sent President Muhammadu Buhari to save Nigeria from collapse.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Oyegun made the observation in Sokoto on Friday when he declared open a three-day retreat organised by the Kano State Chapter of the party for its officials and stakeholders on political party management.
Mr. Oyegun said:
”Buhari was God-sent at the most crucial time in Nigeria’s history.
“He inherited a comatose economy and he has been strenuously working to deliver on his campaign promises centred on the economy, security and fighting corruption..
“Insurgency has been tamed, while the issues of militancy and other related security challenges were being diligently attended to by the President.”
Mr. Oyegun also said that the president was being so “frugal” with every kobo that accrued to the nation, saying that the economy would soon bounce back.
The party national chairman said that no sane and patriotic Nigerian would be pessimistic about the way Mr. Buhari was uniquely tackling corruption.
“Buhari is generally working tirelessly to make Nigeria a better place for all Nigerians,” he said.

Nigerian veteran Comedian, Godwin Komone, known popularly by his stage name, Gordons, has stated that he will be the happiest person in the world if the federal government place a ban on giving of tithes and offerings.
According to him, with that, Nigerians will know clerics who were truly called by God.
In a report by Daily Post, the comic merchant gave this advise in his latest comedy collection entitled ‘Comedy Clinic.’ The Delta-State comedian believes that the many problems currently facing Nigeria today boils down to religion.
“The only solution to our problems in Nigeria today is religion.
I will be the happiest person in the world if the federal government place a ban on giving of tithes and offerings from churches.
I tell, we will continue to lament as long as these people keep collecting the little one we have in the name of offering.
By the time tithes and offerings is declared illegal, then we will know those who were called by God and those who called themselves in the ministry.

Thousands of stigmatized ‘Witch Children’ have found refuge at CRARN center, in Akwa Ibom.
The children were branded as “witches” by church ministers and have been cast out by their families and shunned by society.
One of them is six-year-old Israel Effiong, from Ikot Uso Ekong, Eket, who was accused of being responsible for his father’s illness. Fearing for his life, he ran away and hid in a bush for a year before he was rescued by Edoho,a volunteer with the organisation.
Edoho, himself is former child at CRARN Children Center. He now serves as one of the volunteers who rescue children to the centre.
“When my father became ill and taken to a hospital, my stepmom asked if I knew anything about his illness. I told her that I could not think of anything bad about my father because he’s the supporting me,” Effiong recounts.
“When his illness took a turn for the worst, my stepmom became angry with me.
In the nights, she’ll wake me up, tie my hands and legs then poured wild ants all over my body while asking me to relieve my dad from the witches coven. At times she would tie my hand and legs, began to hit my heads with sticks and electrical wires.
She stopped giving me food and locked me out of the house. I went and told the neighbors living close to us. She said she could not allow me to stay with her because my stepmother will be angry with her.
“The people living around us began to hate me and asked not to come close to their children. I went and slept in the village town hall. One night, some men came and saw me there, they brought me out and asked me to dance as witches. When I told them that I didn’t know witches dance, they used sticks and matches to beat me. A man who was passing by came and told them not kill me. They left me and warned me not come there again. I went and stayed in a bush and be coming out in the night to pick up leftover from the market garbage
“One day, I was tired and slept off in the market, a boy by name Edoho came and saw me there and told me he would come back and take me to a safe place where other children like me are living. I told him where I normally stay in the bush.
Yesterday, he came and took me the CRARN Children Center, Eket. I’m very glad to stay here because I would go to school again and sleep without fear of the unknown.”

Her forehead is apparently not the only part of her body he’s branded, she also has his name stamped on her breast.

Her boyfriend Ryan Wibberley, a 23-year-old tattoo artist who goes by the name Wibbo, claims he has persuaded 39 ex-girlfriends to get his name tattooed on them.
He claims he has 50 tatoos on his body and tatooed Koutney’s name on his hand.
Most didn’t go for the face, but apparently legs, arms, fingers and backsides instead.
‘I just get p*ssed up and I get my tattoo gun out. It’s a laugh,’ he told the Sun. ‘It’s not taking advantage because they want it done.’

A Polish woman who was disfigured by a huge facial tumour has revealed how her face looks now at a press conference.
The woman, identified only as Joanna, underwent Poland’s second ever facial transplant after neurofibromatosis – a genetic condition causing benign tumours – left her unable to chew, talk or swallow.
The press conference is coming almost three years after she had her transplant – and she looked remarkably well with only little scarring to her forehead and neck.
Dr Adam Maciejewski, who performed both Joanna’s surgery as well as the only other facial transplant in Poland, spent 23-hours on the complex transplant.
It involved a transplant of 80 per cent of the skin on her face, giving her the ability to chew, talk or swallow.
Joanna was severely deformed by neurofibromatosis – a genetic condition that causes benign tumours to grow along the nerves.
The condition can also cause bone problems, pressure on the spinal nerves, severe pain, learning disabilities and vision and hearing problems. There is no cure for it, MailOnline reports.

A couple’s marriage collapsed when the wife was allegedly involved in an adulterous affair with her husband’s best friend.
Justice Gorwa says he discovered his wife Chantelle Chifamba’s illicit affair with his friend Talent Guhwa when she fell sick after allegedly aborting the Talent’s pregnancy.
Speaking to H-Metro, Justice said the adulterous affair between Chantelle and Talent was the greatest betrayal he has gone through in his life.
“There is nothing as heart-rending as being hurt by people you trust.
“I never thought that my best friend and wife would be so heartless that they woul have a sexual relationship.
“People in our neighbourhood used to tell me that something fishy was going on between my wife and Talent but I never took it serious because I thought they didn’t understand how we relate as families.
“I only got to know about it when Chantell aborted the pregnancy and Talent started demanding the child from her,” said Justice.
Narrating how his wife cheated on him, Justice said Chantelle and Talent allegedly shared the forbidden fruit when he was at work.
“I have always been a good husband and father; I would go out of my way to suppor my wife as well as our child but for some reason I wasn’t good enough for Chantell
“I used to send her money during the time that she was sleeping with Talent since I was out of town with work.
“When I came back, Talent started demanding the baby from Chantelle that she had aborted and that was how I got t know about it.
“The issue of her abortion has become the talk in our neighbourhood and the woman who helped her to abort is also from our neighbourhood.
“The foetus is said to have been dumped close to some banana trees in our neighbourhood,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chantelle has since applied for a protection order against Justice at the Harare civil court. She claims that Justice started to be violent towards her accusing her of cheating on him.
“He is the one who has been cheating, I discovered it through text messages he has been sending to his girlfriend.
“I left his house naked because he said I came with nothing and I was supposed to go back without anything.
“He has been coming to my mother’s place hurling stones and urinating in the garden” she claimed.
Talent’s wife, only identified as Amai Wayne, confirmed her husband’s affair with Chantelle. She also said the affair was now straining her marriage.
“My husband and I have never been in good books ever since the time he had an adulterous affair with Chantelle.
“He has been accusing me of being the reason Chantelle aborted the pregnancy but I wasn’t involved in all of that,” she said.
Not a single girl out of the 21 released Chibok schoolgirls was sexually assaulted during the two years spent in Boko Haram captivity.
Quoting a source close to negotiations to free the remaining of those abducted in April 2014, NAN dismissed reports that the only girl who came back with a child was impregnated by an insurgent.
The agency said the girl was pregnant before her abduction.
“The girl and her parents have confirmed this. The child is not a Boko Haram Child,” the source reportedly said.
“None of the girls released was sexually harassed or abused while in captivity by their abductors.
“The current state of the girls is a source of joy as they are receiving the best medical, psychological and other forms of support from the authorities as directed by the federal government.
“All groups including the families, The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) and Chibok Community are happy with their condition as medical experts work to address their health conditions.
“The girls have been visited by members of International Committee of the Red Cross, which played a great role in getting the girls freed.
“It is obvious to everyone that having been in captivity, the girls were traumatised but since their release, they are showing signs of recovery.”
Speculative reports about the state of the freed captives, are said to be creating stumbling blocks to further talks with the insurgents.
The insurgents were said to be angry with government for breaching some understanding reached with them when the 21 girls were being handed over on October 13.

Four little girls have reportedly being salvaged in Abak, Akwa Ibom State after their parents allegedly abandoned them for being ‘witches’.
The story which was shared by Child’s Right And Rehabilitation Network (CRARN), reads:
Four female children were yesterday rescued by a good samaritan around 1:00 AM in the night. The children whose origins are yet to be identified said they were told in a prayer house that they were witches, an allegation which compelled their parent to abandoned in another prayers house which they went for deliverance, for years without bringing them food to them.
Their parent later came to the church at the instance of the pastor, pick them and put in a waiting car which drove them to the Abak bridge and dropped them there. The children were malnourished and seen with wounds, bruises, and scars in different parts of their body indicative of variant degrees of torture, which of course are not uncommon with children who suffer similar faith consequent upon witchcraft stigmatization.
“My father said he’s afraid of God, he would have killed us as instructed by the prophets.” one of the children said.

A right activist said after the rescue: “Children have continued to be abandoned in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria over witchcraft allegation by parents after desperate and nouveau riche pastors and prophets label witches/wizards and made their parents force them on the streets if not killed. These children were lucky to be rescued yesterday in the wee hours of the night at Abak new bridge otherwise, they would have been picked by the lurking human traffickers or ritual killers who maraud the streets in search of children for diabolic purposes.
“Different states in Nigeria, mostly Akwa Ibom, Cross River and River States, remain the hotbed for children abandonment due to witchcraft accusations. Lagos and Ekiti have also been reported to be in the high rank of witchcraft allegation on children and elderly people in recent times which lead to their death and forceful incapacitation.
Cool FM presenter, OAP Freeze shared the story of what he had to do during his first 6 months of working in a radio station back in the 1990s.

He has to earn it, most people don’t understand what it takes to be a broadcaster, I have heard “is it not to talk on the radio?” It takes a whole lot more. For my first 6 months on air, all I did was “o’clock” six hours a day, five days a week on an AM station.
When it’s 6pm for instance, the main presenter would say ‘it’s 6’ and I would say “o’clock” that was all I was required to say for an hour, then again at 7pm he would say, it’s 7 and I will say “o’clock”, repeating this every hour, never saying a single word more till my shift for the day ended.
Was I sitting idle for the remaining 59 minutes 56 seconds? Of course not!!! I was buying zobo and buns, photocopying stuff and going to and from the news room running office errands, awaiting my next stint on the radio, where my services were needed to say “o’clock”.
This was all I did for 6 months, in the 1990s before I was considered fit for the radio. Since we are in the social media era, let him say his “o’clock” via Twitter and earn his internship. ?
