The HIV positive woman, Fezekile ‘Khwezi’ Kuzwayo, who accused South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma of rape 10 years ago, reportedly died on Saturday.
This has sparked major reactions on South African social media, with some people calling for the president’s resignation.
The high-profile case rocked the country about a year before Zuma became president. Named ‘Khwezi’ by South Africans to protect her image, the victim reportedly was the daughter of Zuma’s friend, Judson Diza Khuzwayo, a member of the African National Congress (ANC). The two men had spent 10 years in Robben Island Prison.
In 2005, 31-year-old Khwezi accused Zuma of raping her at his Johannesburg home. He pleaded not guilty and his attorneys reduced her claims to a consensual sex.
A year later, Jacob Zuma was acquitted, and in 2009, he became the president of South Africa.
Khwezi, later diagnosed with HIV, fiercely advocated for women’s right and fought against rape, until yesterday, when her family released a statement, confirming her death.
“It is with our deepest sorrow that the Kuzwayo family announces the passing of our daughter Fezekile Ntsukela Kuzwayo,” her mother, Beauty Sibongile Kuzwayo said.
The cause of her death has not been made public.
Her death has sparked major reactions on social media. While many people are calling for the president’s resignation, other have noted how politician Julius Malema vilified the alleged rape victim during the court proceedings.
UK based Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi is getting ready towards his gay marriage to partner, Anthony and today is day 6 of the remaining 30 days.
The gay being dedicates the day it to his childhood. He shared this photo of himself as a child and wrote:
Day 6 of 30 days to my wedding of 30 things to be grateful for. Today I want to be thankful for my childhood.
Many times we concentrate on the now and forgetting the journey it took to get to now. The laughter, the joy, the pains and the tears.
My childhood was not perfect and I am happy it was not, but it was a journey I am proud of. I carry my joy and pains on the sleeves but most importantly, my childhood taught me what matters in the world.
The essence of compassion, love and empathy. I learnt that sitting on the fence was not a neutral act. That silence is not golden. That boy can not and should not always be boys at the expense of girls. That I can play with dolls, pink dolls, paint my face and catwalk.
Yes, sometimes I get beaten for it, but the hard headed boy I was, my passion and not the rejection was my childhood driver. As a loner, growing up in my head and in my world, I hardly make excuse for my action. I was thought to say sorry when wrong and never to say it unless I am sure I am wrong.
I spent my childhood being a child and maybe that’s why, as an adult, I am still a child. Get angry like a child, smile like a child, think like a child, eat like one, sleep like one, and perform like one.
I am Peter Pan but with the vision of an adult. Dear Ademola, Ojo, Kazeem, Iyanda Alimi, thanks for making the adult that is Adebisi Ademola Alimi.
Next month I will marry my husband with the spirit of a child, will laugh with that spirit, enjoy the moment that my childhood has spent 41years preparing for my adulthood. In the presence of my friends, families and loved one, with shine on my face like a proud child, I will look into the eyes of my lover and say; I DO! #equalmarriage #samesexwedding #gaymarriage #ido #childhood #growingup

The Kaduna state government has ordered the arrest and prosecution of Ibrahim Musa, the spokesman of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria ( IMN), otherwise known as Shiites.
In a statement by the spokesman of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, it said:
“All security agencies in the state have been directed to vigorously enforce the law, and demonstrate clear resolve by arresting the said Ibrahim Musa, who is further advised to report himself to the nearest police station or any of the security agencies.”
The state government on Friday issued a declaration outlawing the IMN, saying it is an illegal organisation.
However, in a reaction on Saturday, the spokesman of the movement, Ibrahim Musa, had described the ban as an infringement on their fundamental human rights, vowing that the group will challenge it in court.
But Aruwan said on Sunday that Musa had identified himself as a spokesman of an illegal group and should be arrested and prosecuted.
According to the statement,
“One Ibrahim Musa who has owned up to being the spokesperson of an unlawful society, the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN)” noting that a few hours after the IMN was outlawed, Musa admitted to the membership of an unlawful society and identified himself as its spokesman in widely publicized statements.”
Paying for sex is taboo – nobody wants to admit doing it. It is gross, weird, or even perverse. At least that is what some people say.
But there is a huge market for paid sex. Love Matters Africa’s Stephanie Haase takes a look at some of the things you should know about paid sex.
1. What is paid sex and where does it happen?
Paid sex, or prostitution, means paying someone for sexual services. The payment can be cash, but it can also be through gifts and favors.
The person who is getting paid is called a sex worker, prostitute or a range of other, often demeaning, words.
Sex workers can be either woman or men. Male sex workers offer their services to other men, too. If they are not gay themselves, this is sometimes called ‘gay-to-pay’.
Sex workers sell sex for a variety of reasons, and sometimes it can be a means to buy drugs or because of poverty. This is known as ‘survival sex’.
There are many places for paid sex. Some sex workers offer their services on the streets, others work in brothels, or as escorts, who offer their services in hotels or private homes.

US Presidential aspirant, Donald Trump, at the 2nd US presidential debate last night, told his opponent, Hillary Clinton, straight to her face that she’d be in jail if he ever becomes The United States of America president.
The Presidential aspirant had gone on a rant about Hillary Clinton’s email scandal when he suddenly added the horrifying twist:
Trump: If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation. There has never been so many lies, so much exception. There has never been anything like it. We will have a special prosecutor. I go out and speak and the people of this country are furious. The long time workers at the FBI are furious. There has never been anything like this with emails. You get a subpoena and after getting the subpoena you delete 33,000 emails and acid wash them or bleach them. An expensive process. We will get a special prosecutor and look into it. You know what, people have been—their lives have been destroyed for doing one-fifth of what you have done. You should be ashamed.
Moderator: Secretary Clinton, I will let you respond.
Clinton: Everything he said is absolutely false. It would be impossible to be fact checking Donald all the time. I would never get to talk and make lives better for people. Once again, go to Hillaryclinton.com. You can fact check Trump in real time. Last time at the first debate we had millions of people fact checking and we will have millions more fact checking. It’s just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country.
The “Limpopo” crooner, in a new interview with Ife Salako of Naija FM, says he sponsored the wedding of E-Money, his younger brother, who is a prominent billionaire and businessman.
While there have been questions rising as to who is older than the other, he was asked.
Is E-Money older than you?
(Laughs) People ask me this question a lot, but the important thing is the fact that we are brothers from the same parent, but to clear the air, I am the elder brother.
So how come you are so humble and sometimes even call him boss?
Our relationship is really tight, I call it divine. Now let me shock you, I sponsored E-Money’s wedding, I used to pay our rent because I was the first to start making money in my family.
I brought light, name and fame to the family but most people don’t know the genesis and I don’t need to explain to anyone.
House-dad Jake White, who hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, has a set of triplets – two-year-olds Jude, Stella and Xavier who are very fond of repeatedly arguing over sharing snacks in the car.
The invention the young man was forced to come up with so he can have peace while driving, has become praiseworthy on social media – the artist said the walls, made from thin board, took him just five minutes to install.
Afterwards he took them on a test-drive to a drive-thru to see how well effective they were.
He told Today Parents:
‘I did it because there was snack-stealing going on and to a 2-year-old, that’s the end of the world.
‘The dividers are foam core, just strong enough to keep the kids separated. The kids
aren’t strong enough to break it from a seated position yet.’
He said the children are ‘very well behaved‘ and that he takes them wherever he goes but that the boards were a ‘natural solution to keep the peace‘ over snacks.
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has reportedly suspended the production of its flagship Galaxy Note 7 smartphones after reports of fire incidents added to the tech giant’s worst ever recall crisis.
According to Reuters, a source made this notion known to them – they report that top U.S. and Australian carriers also suspended sales or exchanges of Note 7s, while major airlines reiterated bans on passengers using the phones, after smoke from a replacement device forced the evacuation of a passenger plane in the United States last week.
“If the Note 7 is allowed to continue it could lead to the single greatest act of brand self-destruction in the history of modern technology,” said Eric Schiffer, brand strategy expert and chairman of Reputation Management Consultants.
“Samsung needs to take a giant write-down and cast the Note 7 to the engineering hall of shame next to the Ford Pinto.”
In a regulatory filing, Samsung said it was “adjusting” shipments of Note 7s to allow for inspections and stronger quality control due to some devices catching fire.
It did not comment on the production halt or the cause of the fires, while the source – who declined to be identified because they were not authorized to speak to the media – did not explain whether specific problems had been identified or when production was halted.
Samsung told Reuters it was investigating reports of “heat damage issues” and would take immediate action to fix any problems in line with measures approved by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
On Sept. 2, Samsung announced a global recall of 2.5 million Note 7s due to faulty batteries which caused some of the phones to catch fire.

The Police Zonal Intervention Squad (ZIS), Onikan, Lagos, have arrested two suspected cultists for alleged murder of over 20 persons.
Sheriff Afeeri and Wasiu Owoseeni were arrested at Agosi in Ifo, Ogun State, with dangerous weapons including an axe.
It was gathered that the duo confessed to be members of the Black Axe (Aiye), confraternity and participated in the various fight against Eiye cult group in Otta and Ifo.
According to the zonal spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, the suspects were apprehended while planning a meeting.
He said they confessed to have killed several people, including one Niyi alias Neyo, who was the Black Axe leader in Ifo.
Niyi was killed on Western City Street in Ifo last March by his members who wanted to overthrow him.
Adejobi said the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone II, Abdulmajid Ali, has directed that proper investigation be carried out so as to arrest other members of the group.
He said: “The AIG has vowed to get the zone rid of cultists and hoodlums, who have been terrorising innocent people in Lagos and Ogun States.
“Those arrested and others at large will be treated as murderers in as much as their actions have always been tailored to one killing or the other,” he said.
While most people heavily doubt any truth to this story, some are ecstatic on how powerful the “man of God” is – a man who is said to have doubted the miracles that was performed by a controversial Zimbabwean pastor named Prophet Shepherd Bushiri a.k.a Major 1 of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church, was said to meet with “fire from above” which burnt his jacket during the church’s service yesterday.
A statement on the church’s Facebook page reads:
Miracle Sunday LIVE: Don’t challenge God…
As the man of God continues to minister and demonstrate the power of God, something out-of-this world takes place.
A man runs forward screaming and asking the God of Major 1 to forgive him. To the surprise of many, this man holds up a burnt jacket. He notifies the masses that he was doubting the things that were taking place in this place.
In a record chasing history that is close to Guinness book of record, a 41 year-old man arrested by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police for stealing the phone of his helper has pleaded that he should be assisted from going to prison the eighth time.
The suspect, Emmanuel Oyewunmi, from Ikale, Ondo State, was arrested by the operatives on Friday night at Ojodu-Berger Bus Stop for stealing N600 and a phone from a bus driver and a passenger.
Oyewunmi, before now, has been on the wanted list of RRS’s operatives for stealing a Samsung Galaxy S4 belonging to one Mrs. Adesewa Oni from her car.
On the said day, Oyewunmi was a park attendant outside Shoprite Shopping Mall, Ikeja, when Oni drove in to attend a ceremony at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Alausa.
For keeping an eye on her car, Oni instead of offering Oyewunmi the N200 he requested decided to drive him to a nearby ATM to withdraw some money out of which she gave him N1000.
Unwittingly for her, she left Oyewunmi inside her car while she gets the money from the ATM. Upon returning, she handed Oyewunmi the N1,000 and she drove off.
The victim, while reliving her experience said “I have driven about five minutes away from Alausa when I felt the urge to make some calls for appointments, and I realised that my phone, Samsung Galaxy S4, was missing. Quickly, my mind raced to him and I realised my folly.
“How could I have left a total stranger in my car alone, leaving documents and valuable items in the car with him? It was just a silly thing to do for me. I traced him back to that spot but he was gone… When I was done looking for him everywhere, I was advised to report the incidence at the RRS’s Headquarters the same day,” she explained.
Oyewunmi on interrogation admitted stealing the phone of his helper while she left him in the car to get money through the ATM last week Sunday.
The suspect said “I was pushed into it by the need to get hard drugs. As soon as I got the phone, I went to Ipodo in Ikeja to get hard drug. It was the hard drug dealer that bought it from me. He bought it N8, 000:00. I spent the rest on drug. I was so pained that I forgot to shave and barb from the proceeds of the stolen phones.”
He explained further, “hard drug has spoilt my life. It was the cause of my rejection by my wife, and my father. I got hooked on drug while I was young and getting out of it has been extremely difficult for me… Some faith based non-governmental origination have assisted me through rehabilitation in the past, I have always gotten back into it. Drug has been the predominant cause of my imprisonment…. If I am imprisoned now, it would be the eigth time and third time this year.”
On his second offence, Oyewunmi admitted stealing a phone and N600 from the bus driver and a passenger but pleaded that he was under the influence of drug.
Confirming the arrest of the suspected thief, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Dolapo Badmos, urged Lagosians not to expose themselves to criminals. The suspect has been transferred to the Lagos State Taskforce for prosecution

In an official statement by Garba Shehu, presidential media adviser, President Muhammadu Buhari has made his first official reaction to the arrest of seven senior judges between Friday night and Saturday morning, saying that the raids on the judges’ residence by the Department of State Security Service (DSS), was an assault on corruption and not on the judiciary.
It was earlier reported over the weekend that an agent of the Department of State Services (DSS), Garba Abdullahi, said it raided the homes of seven judges, including two of the Supreme Court, across the country over allegations of corruption levelled against them, adding that it found $2million stashed in the house of one of the judges.
In the statement by Garba Shehu, the presidency described the raids as ‘surgical’ saying due process was followed in the arrests.
Read it in full below;
Corruption, not judiciary under attack
The Presidency assures that the President reserves his highest respect for the institution of the judiciary as the third arm of government.
To this end, the President will not do anything to undermine its independence.
President Buhari remains a committed democrat, in words and in his action, and will not take any action in violation of the constitution.
The recent surgical operation against some judicial officers is specifically targeted at corruption and not at the judiciary as an institution.
In a robust democracy such as ours, there is bound to be a plurality of opinions on any given issue, but there is a convergence of views that the country has a corruption problem that needs to be corrected.
But reports by a section of the media are giving us cause for concern.
In undertaking the task of reporting, the media should be careful about the fault lines they open. It is wrong to present this incident as a confrontation between the executive and judicial arms of government.
The Presidency has received assurances from the DSS that all due processes of the law, including the possession of search and arrest warrants were obtained before the searches.
To suggest that the government is acting outside the law in a dictatorial manner is to breach the interest of the state.
