Nigerian Woman Loses Custody Of Her Kids After Her Daughter Reported To The Police That She Hit Her.

A U.S-based Nigerian victim of domestic violence has lost custody of her children after her own daughter reported her to the police for hitting her.
The woman shared her story via Humans of New York. Read below…
“I was pregnant the first time he hit me. I found another woman in his house. And when I asked who she was, he got violent. He told me: ‘You are not my mother. You have no right to ask me about this.’ Then he hit me. And there was nothing I could do. That sort of behavior is accepted in Nigeria. Nobody is going to call it ‘domestic violence.’ If you tell the police, they will tell you to listen to your husband. But things are different in America. So I left my husband six months after we arrived. I entered a domestic violence shelter. I became a single mother. And I was doing fine. I was working as a security guard and my children were not suffering. But then one day my daughter called the police and told them that I hit her. But that is my right. A mother has the right to discipline her children. They were disobeying me. But the government took my children away and now they won’t give them back. They are oppressing me with their power.”

“I Tasted Serious Poverty And Hardship, I Used To Brush Without Toothpaste” – Pastor Sam Adeyemi.

Ahead of a leadership conference that he is going to host come November, Pastor of the Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, speaks on the growth of his brand.
As a child, life wasn’t a bed of roses for the man of God, unlike other children of the affluent. But he certainly experienced modest comfort at a point in time.
When his father was a civil servant, he had the kind of fun that children of the middle class have. Later when the old man became a contractor, things turned better for the family and life turned rosier for the young Adeyemi.
Unfortunately, life showed the family another card. Old Adeyemi’s business encountered trouble and finally collapsed. Without invitation, poverty stepped in. That is how the proverbial mouth that used to eat beef began to run after bones.
“I tasted poverty and real hardship. I used to brush my teeth without toothpaste,” Adeyemi says.
According to the pastor, motivational speaker and financial teacher, that singular experience eventually shaped everything he has become in life.
“The experience gave me the capacity for compassion. I cannot forget where I am coming from,” he adds.
He notes that after he accepted Jesus Christ — when he was still an engineering student in a polytechnic — he got a kind of vision in which God situated him in a context where he was teaching a group of people.
This happened in the course of a prayer. He found the idea funny initially, as he did not believe he was cut out for teaching. But his decision to heed the signals has transformed his life and the church that he eventually founded — although he found it tough in the first three years of its existence.
Noting that he is sometimes amazed at the progress Daystar has made, he says what hinders the progress of many people and organisations is what he calls the culture of ‘big-mannism’.
This is bossing around when one is supposed to be a leader — a leader whose armours ought to be compassion, humility and the urge to develop the potentialities of other people.

We didn’t torture baba suwe — NDLEA

The National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency has said that its operatives did not subject popular actor, Babatunde Omidina, to physical torture during the period he was incarcerated by the agency for allegedly being in possession of hard drugs
The Head, Public Affairs of the NDLEA, Mr, Mitchell Ofoyeju, in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, reacted to an allegation by Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, that Baba Suwe’s health had deteriorated due to torture at the agency.
Fabiyi had, in a statement posted on Instagram on Wednesday, claimed that Baba Suwe told him that he could no longer walk properly because a pipe was inserted in his anus during the period that he was detained by the NDLEA.
“He told me that he could no longer feel comfortable since that episode. Baba Suwe can hardly walk properly as I speak, let alone go to film. How will he feed and take care of the children that Aunty Moladun left behind?
“He told me when I visited him that he was innocent and a long pipe was inserted in his anus. He was detained for too long, among other things, just because he was randomly suspected like every normal person.
“Torture is criminal and sinful. If this accusation is found to be true by independent investigators, it shouldn’t go unpunished,” he had said.
But Ofoyeju dismissed the actor’s claims as false, saying, “The NDLEA did not torture Baba Suwe. If he was tortured, he would have said it himself. This is just an unfounded rumour on the social media and it should be disregarded.
“As a matter of fact, Baba Suwe was given the best treatment. We treated him with due regard to the requirement of fundamental human rights globally. He was talking to his relatives and lawyer. He was never kept in a prison for the period that he stayed here because he was virtually under our observation.”
Also, regarding Fabiyi’s claim that the NDLEA failed to obey a court order to pay Baba Suwe the sum of N25m in damages, the spokesman said that the agency was not obliged to obey the order since a substantive ruling by the Court of Appeal had directed it not to pay the actor.
“If Baba Suwe had gone to the Supreme Court, perhaps his case would have been upheld. But he did not do so,” Ofoyeju said.
When contacted, Baba Suwe told our correspondent on telephone that he was not disposed to speaking on the issue.

N4bn Advanced Free Fraud: EFCC arrest the MD of Nigerian “Wonder Bank”

Following over a hundred petitions from across the country on the operations of an alleged Wonder bank and its nefarious activities, the EFCC, today, arrested the Managing Director of “Lets Partner With You Ltd”, Chief. Patrick Shanchi Nwokike at his residence in Enugu, Enugu state.
Petitions indicate that the company had over the past five years solicited and obtained deposits of more than N4bn from the general public with promise of mouth watering interest in return.
According to investigations conducted by the Commission, the company has no license to solicit and manage funds for the public nor was it registered with Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, or the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Company, NDIC.
Further investigations revealed that a 10% interest was for some time paid on invested capital which for no justifiable reason, was suddenly stopped and all efforts by depositors to have at least the capital of their investments returned nor terminate their investments proved abortive.
Many of the complainants alleged that the operators of the scheme especially, Chief Nwokike, not only live very flamboyant lifestyles, but acquired several personal assets as well as using their deposits for philanthropic enterprise.
The company was also found to have over six accounts in about four banks with Nwokike and his wife being the only signatories. Investigation is still on-going to ascertain the extent of the company’s operations, its culpability, likely recovery of funds and possible prosecution

“I Was Offered N20million To Sell My Sperm But I Refused” – IK Ogbonna.

Talented Nollywood actor, Ikechukwu Mitchel Ogbonna spoke to LIB yesterday on his greatest temptation since coming into prominence.
According to the actor,
‘There are times when I was broke to zero Naira, I’d leave my friend’s place to visit my sister at the bridge clinic to ask for as little as N2000 (Two Thousand Naira).
On that fateful day while sitting waiting for my sister, a woman met me with her husband and offered me N20m to donate my sperm, who probably was impotent.
The actor admitted he thought about it but couldn’t imagine selling his own offspring.
‘After thinking about the offer, I told myself that I would be a very great man someday, and my kids will live out of sight because that is the highest temptation; I have ever experienced in all my life.”
He also revealed reasons why he would be a loyal partner to his Colombian wife, Sonia.
‘I see my wife as a perfect Soulmate. Secondly she’s my best friend. Thirdly we live more like brother and sister than husband and wife. Most times, we forget we are a couple because we don’t hide a single thing from each other. Lastly, she is a wise and clever person and for this reasons, I wouldn’t want her to be discredited in public.’

“I Consulted 65 Pastors Before I Married Foluke Daramola” – Husband.

The couple were united in Holy Matrimony on February 15 2013 – and have since then been able to stand the test of time because it was given six months to crash.
Kayode Salako and his lovely wife, actress, Foluke Daramola are waxing stronger by the day.
The activist cum businessman gave some moments they shared in their three-and-a-half-year old union.
Was he skeptical when he wanted to marry a divorcee since he was also divorced at that time?
He said:
“I did not fancy Nigerian actresses. When I met Foluke, she never proved to me that she was the sterotypical actress. She is a very good cook, washes my underwear, she is homely and not outgoing. In fact, I now prod her to go out. She prefers to be at home with her husband and the children. She is very reasonable, mentally upright, focus and ambitious. She is godly and she can recite 25 psalms in the Bible off hand. She is not money conscious, fun to be with and till date, we still live as friends. We have many things in common. We are activists, we both believe in fighting for our rights.”

Any reaction from his family?
“I wasn’t expecting to marry a perfect woman. I have decided to be her father, her boss, her friend and a teacher. When I was getting married, I told everyone in my family to go all out and make inquiries if she is my wife. I consulted about 65 pastors before I made up my mind on her.”
Who apologises when there is a misunderstanding?
Foluke, the mother of two replied, “I was in a marriage before, so making amends when there is a wrong is no problem. Most of the time, I say, ‘I’m sorry,’ it does not cost anything to apologise. If not given, it can degenerate to anything. Fortunately, he does not suffer from inferiority complex. The kind of upbringing I have is contentment and love. I want to have my husband, children and run my home. When we were about getting married, my father-in-law was skeptical and some of his siblings. I made everybody realise that acting is a profession, which I happen to find myself.”
Kayode said, “Foluke is stubbornly reasonable but quick to accept her fault. She kneels down and apologises and sometimes, sheds tears to show she is indeed sorry. I love her very much, she is like my baby and I don’t fail to tell her when she is wrong. Our quarrel doesn’t last an hour. We are not in this marriage by accident but by the will of God.”
So, what makes a marriage successful?
Kayode proffered, “Maintain that channel of communication. Discuss it all because when you don’t tell her she might not know. Secondly, understand each other. Know your wife and who she is. You must also be friends. Also a man should learn to overlook especially if you are married to a celebrity. I read a book where a writer said nothing is a problem, only thinking makes it so. If you attach meanings to every issue, marriage heads for the rocks. Not all the time should you overlook but when you want to make a complaint let it be in the confines of your bedroom. Let the man be mentally mature too and be confident in himself. Also, learn to share. A man should not allow his wife do all the chores and he wants to share her money with her, it fails. She is not your slave, she is a human being that deserves happiness.”

Foluke said, “The woman is motivated by what she hears and the man, what he sees. Women make the mistake of not spicing up their marriage. What are those things that attracted him to you? Then, don’t stop. He loves my legs and I wear short skirts at home for him. You have to put your man on his toes. Read books and know what excite your marriage. Also, men don’t tell their wives ‘I love you.’ Pay her compliments. I wash his undies, cook special diet. In fact celebs go the extra mile to make marriage work. We try to pamper, make men feel special and want homes. We need confident men. Take care of your man. Say, ‘I love you’. My husband tells me every morning, ‘I love you.’
