A man has reportedly killed himself by hanging in the Ogida area of Benin City, Edo State. The incident is the third to be reported in the last six days.
According to a recent report by the Nigerian Police Force, about 62 Nigerians have committed suicide due to the depression associated with economic depression since the official announcement was made in August. The motivation behind the suicide saga is currently unknown.
Last Thursday, man in his mid-30s, identified as Godwin, was said to have committed suicide because his wife jilted him at Kabayi, Mararaba, near Abuja.
Earlier, corpse of a 52-year-old man was found by the riverside by residents of Salvation Avenue in the Ajegunle, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The latest occurred in the early hours of Friday, September 23. Residents rushed to the scene to catch a glimpse of the man who was found hanging from the ceiling of a sawmill in the market.
Witnesses said the man was earlier seen in the area wandering in a sober mood, not knowing that he had plan to take his life. The deceased, however, did not leave a suicide note behind.
Cooked beans, loaves of bread and clothes were found beside his corpse. The Edo State Police Command spokesman, Theodore Okafor, who confirmed the incident, said that the corpse had been deposited in a mortuary for a post-mortem.
A giant snake measuring 33-feet long has been discovered on a building site in northern Brazil – the gigantic reptile weighing 400kg was discovered by construction workers following an explosion in a cave in Altamira, Pará.
The embattled leader of jihadist group Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau has resurfaced.
He resurfaced in a video posted online today rejecting assertions by the Nigerian army that he had been seriously wounded.
“You have been spreading in the social media that you injured or killed me. Oh tyrants, I’m in a happy state, in good health and in safety,” he said in the 40-minute video released on YouTube dated September 25.
It will be recalled that the Nigerian army had on the 23rd of August said that Shekau had been seriously wounded in the shoulder in an air raid in which several commanders were killed.
The army’s claim was however bolstered when Boko Haram released a video on September 13 without Shekau in it. But now he claims to be back.
A strange new video has surfaced online which shows a man allegedly predicting a woman’s future by touching her breast. The footage is believed to be filmed in China and has been shared on social media. The eight-second clip was posted on Miaopai, a short-video sharing platform in China, on September 8.
It was uploaded by a user named Xiao Yuwen, who claims to be a travel photographer from China’s Yunan Province. Xiao wrote in the post:
‘Fortune telling by touching the breast, this man is taking great advantage.’
In the short video, a bespectacled man can be seen touching a woman’s breast. The man, who is believed to be a fortune teller, held a pair of crutches in the other hand.
The woman can be seen staring at him with a puzzled face.
The pair were surrounded by a group of people as the alleged fortune-telling was taking place. However, there was no conversation between the fortune-teller and woman in the video.
Many social media users thought the fortune-teller had gone too far.
One user said on Weibo, a Twitter-like platform in China: ‘This is disgusting.’
While another sounded confused: ‘What happens if a man comes for fortune telling, will he still touch his breast?’
Raise your hands if you’re part of the law-abiding Nigerians, who have for the past few months now, been enjoying quite a considerable amount of power supply compared to years back, when you could go half a year without power… Really, are you one of them?! (and I’m not talking about the kinda power supply PHCN gives for days when they know they’re about to cut your light!)
I’ve come across so many Social media reactions where people are seeing the state of the country more salvaged than wrecked considering so many factors, one of which is POWER SUPPLY.
While most Nigerians are on eagle’s eye on the President and his family’s expenditures and condemning the leader and his family like the children of Isreal did to Moses, others still believe in the Change that was once promised about a year and a half ago.
Corruption, terrorist attacks – two major things that crippled the country has been over the year, virtually the least of most Nigerians’ worries – though the fact of the so-called “Herdsmens killings” is still in play, there have been diverse speculations as to whether or not some meek hearted Fulanis who have known only cattle breeding since their birth would know how to operate sophisticated ammunitions – this to say that the terrorist who have been tackled with direly, have stooped low to disguise as “herdsmen” and carry out their terror attacks.
A handful of past Nigerian dignitaries have been linked with so many fraudulent scandals over the past few months and continue to remain in the news as their looted funds are being discovered and tackled judicially by the EFCC (a truth our ex-first lady can testify to currently) – something not so rampant during the past Presidential administrations.
Among other things than corruption and terror attacks, are the agricultural sector, health, road and transport, foreign exchange market, education, labour and more than can be mentioned – but optimism among a very few Nigerians lets them hope that if the two major heartaches could be brought to a slush, why can’t the rest ?. Although, the current Economic recession won’t let an average working Nigerian have an ounce of optimism as his mind is burdened with how to survive through these hard times…
For what it’s worth, in the educational sector, the 2016 MAY/JUNE WASSCE made quite an improvement compared to the past five years – praises of many a student who came out with parallel distinctions was sung all over social media – this of course, in the civil regime of PMB.
Considering the very few National issues PMB has been able to tackle in his over 334 working days or plus his 151 non-working days, can we believe that his “CHANGE” should be seen as a case of drops of water making a thousand feet deep mighty ocean? And hope that maybe just maybe, as it took time for Moses to take the Isrealites to the land flowing with milk and honey, that’s the present case with Nigerians now, suffice to say that it’s quite slow because of the murmurings of some citizens just like the Isrealites?
OR… are we just in a sham?!
What are your thoughts?! Please don’t hesitate to share!! And leave your comments…
For one who walked out of his marriage and eloped with another woman abroad, not a few fans and colleagues now wonder at Daniel Ademinokan and his partner, actress Stella Damasus’ stance on righteous living.
Ademinokan, a Nollywood movie director, was married to actress Doris Simeon and the union produced a son.
He left Doris, travelled abroad and put up with Stella, a widow of late Jaiye Aboderin who had two daughters for the late Aboderin who was Wunmi Obe’s brother.
Daniel also has a son from Doris and lives with the boy abroad.
In an interview, Doris narrated what happened in the then young marriage:
Doris Simeon
She said,
“I can’t say what actually happened. I did not suspect if he was dating any woman or not because we were the best of friends. I trusted him too. When the problem started, I was begging him for reconciliation. I am an orphan with nobody to run to but his family members, who also tried to intervene. At a point they fought with him because he stopped picking their calls, even his pastor. Before the separation, I suggested counselling but he promised to turn around for good. He did not. He would leave the house for some days and would not pick my calls. He also accused me of nagging and policing him around. At a point, he came back and told me it was lack of money that caused the problems. As a good wife, I suggested we pray about it. He told me one day that he wanted to go and see his mother and took our only son with him (the union produced just a child). I didn’t suspect anything because they usually went out together. That was the last time I saw of my then 2-year-old son (year 2000) He never said what the problem was. It was a normal hassle between couples.”
Now in the United States with his partner Stella, the duo took to evangelism through music.
They are now both gospel ministers. While Stella remains the lead vocal, Daniel is saddled with strumming the guitar and together, they were able to put up a show tagged ‘Kingdom Generals’ which supposedly recorded a huge turnout of people to worship God.
Utterly excited Daniel echoed his emotion about having Stella in his life. He posted on FACEBOOK:
“It’s such an honor to do ministry with this woman! The things I experienced this weekend, words alone cannot describe.
Heaven literarily touched the earth at KG 2016. Stella Damasus, I stand boldly to say that our partnership is divine and orchestrated by God on many levels. Such an honor to experience Life & God with you.
“The grace & anointing that God has placed over our lives has no option but to increase exponentially especially after such a spectacular weekend in HIS presence. My message to the world; When God calls you, yield and do not wait for the validation of Man. God validates you with the power that backs up the call.”
Motivational speaker and life coach, popularly called The Catalyst, Mr. Lanre Olusola, tells ARUKAINO UMUKORO about what he learnt as a father.
What does fatherhood mean to you?
I believe that fatherhood is a responsibility and a privilege. There is a difference between a father and a son. Fatherhood is husband-hood, it is multi-dimensional and transient.
There is no beginning and there is no end. I believe that fatherhood is learnt over time. It is a mandate and a calling.
At what age did you first become a father?
I became a biological father 11 years ago at the age of 38. But fatherhood does not only mean a biological father.
I had become a ‘father’ many years ago when different people came to me to help them nurture their dreams and aspirations.
Although I have two biological daughters, I am also a father to my wife and many other people.
How was your first experience of becoming a father?
It started when my first daughter was in the womb. It was important for me to make a connection with her then. So, when my wife was pregnant, I started to nurture my daughter by speaking to her through my wife’s womb.
I would be there with my wife when she kicks or turns around, and I would tell her how much I love her. I made physical contact with her through my wife’s womb.
I also fathered the mother by showing her respect, honour, love and telling her how much I appreciate the gift that is coming through her. I told my daughter how much I loved her and how much I could not wait for her delivery.
It was an experience that seemed like I was crazy, but when my first child came, both of us really became close; there was almost an instant connection and relationship.
That manifest relationship when she came out was based on the relationship that had been developed when she was still in the womb. It later paid off because my daughter and I are incredibly close.
What difference does it make speaking to an unborn child?
I often ask people, are we human or spirit beings? What is the age of a child’s spirit? My belief is that we are spirit beings that came to earth to have human experiences.
I could communicate with my unborn daughter that way. There is no age zero in the spirit and the form is that one’s body is the containment of one’s spirit and one’s spirit transcends beyond that containment, which means one can connect with one’s child before that physical manifestation (of birth).
How did you feel when you first held her in your arms after her delivery?
I was in the labour ward, and it was a very interesting experience. I recommend that every father should do everything they can to be in the labour ward with their wives because it changes one’s perspective towards one’s wife and her contribution to life.
When I carried my daughter in my hands, I appreciated the essence of God and it portrayed the concept to me that man did not evolve from apes.
We came from the same manufacturer, the Almighty Creator. If we look at an Apple or a Samsung phone, they look alike because each came from the same manufacturer.
The evolution of man is the same, whether you are Christians, Muslim or Hindu, it is the same birth process. So, that helped me conceptualise the essence of God that the exclusive right of life and death are in His Hands. I appreciated life the more.
How has fatherhood changed your perspectives on life?
Fatherhood helps one to become a lot more selfless and responsible. It helps one to delay gratification and plan ahead. But for me, most importantly, it helps me to understand my relationship with my Father in heaven, His mercy, grace and love, and who He is. God the Almighty is everybody’s father, no matter one’s religion.
No matter what my children do, I cannot stop paying their school fees, feeding or clothing them. Fatherhood taught me the essence of unconditional love.
You talked about delayed gratification. What are some of the things you have denied yourself of as a father?
In this context, I had to plan and save towards their school fees, holidays, upbringing; that is the first thing.
The second thing is that one delays gratification, in that one wants to work extra hard and makes more money.
But, one has to create a good balance between work and home, especially if one is a genuine and honest father. Fatherhood helps me to become a lot more selfless.
What are the five most important lessons you have learnt as a father?
Fatherhood starts with parenting. The first lesson is that one must learn fatherhood from being a good father to one’s wife. The second thing is that fatherhood is a partnership; one is not the lord, because parenting is partnership.
Fatherhood is useless without motherhood and vice-versa. The third thing is ensuring that one has a relationship with one’s child and one encourages one’s child’s relationship with his or her mother and all have a relationship together.
The fourth thing is that a good father is one that creates a stable, functional and enabling environment for the good nurture of everybody; physically, spiritually, mentally, psychologically, intellectually, and emotionally.
The fifth one is that fatherhood is about mutual respect. One has to show respect towards the children’s mother; her beliefs, strengths and weaknesses because one must lead by example.
It is not about what one says but also about what one does. One must also respect one’s children and lead by example.
You travel a lot within and outside Nigeria. How much time do you spend with your children?
The key is not the quantity but the quality (of time spent). Even if one is not physically present, the key is to be present. We live in two worlds now, the physical and the virtual worlds. On earth, 7.4 billion people exist in the physical world while 3.4 billion people exist in the virtual world.
Now, among the 70 per cent of the 3.4 billion people are our children, the youth; because they spend about 75 per cent of their time in the virtual world. With technology, I am present with my children, via Skype, phone calls, text messages and WhatsApp.
Also, most importantly, when one is available, I make sure I spend quality time with them; even if it is 20 or 60 minutes. I make sure it is 20 or 60 minutes of quality time – physical, spiritual, psychological, intellectual and emotional connection.
What would you say to those who do not have father figures in their lives?
We need a village to bring up our children right. Personally, I lost my father when I was two years old. And as a male child, I needed a strong arm.
My mother put some structures in place; I had older brothers and uncles that she always ensured were responsible to uphold me in the areas where she needed a man and I never had that vacuum.
She did not remarry. I had my own spells in terms of being a naughty boy, but I had invariably gone 360 degrees and turned out okay.
She has brothers, uncles and the opportunities to get good godfathers that she can ensure are involved in the lives of her children.
Also, one cannot de-emphasise the roles of women and men in the upbringing of one’s children. We have people that are very involved in the lives of our children. My wife and I do not know it all.
My children know that when they go to visit their grandparents, godparents, uncles or aunts, they know these people have the right to chastise and correct them because we trust them with our children.
For people who feel disadvantaged because they never had a father, I would tell them the way they see the problem is the problem. I often say to people that one’s perception is one’s reality. The best way to predict the future is to create it.
It is one’s choices and decisions that colour one’s perceptions and invariably determine one’s life experiences. Every choice that one makes now will carve out a tomorrow for one.
They need to understand that where they are coming from is required for where they are going. I knew from a young age that it was because of my future that I went through what I went through.
But I would not allow my past to short-circuit or stop the future God has designed for me or that I desire for myself. Every coin has two sides. I accepted it as my reality but I chose to see the positive side of it.
One could either see a half-full or half-empty glass. That was what was responsible for the trajectory of my life. One determines what one goes through, but God determines where one would get to.
What is your advice to fathers?
A father needs to understand his strengths and weaknesses. Also, they should understand the environment they live in, and understand a child and bring up that child in the best way that is best suited for him or her. They should not generalise upbringing.
I do not bring up my two children the same way because both of them are completely different beings.
They think differently and their perceptions to life are different, their development needs, love and appreciation of languages are also different. I relate with them independently and I give them independent upbringing.
Nigeria has lost one of her budding entrepreneurs who recently passed away under a mysterious circumstance recently.
Reports making rounds on Facebook reveal one Tumininu, owner of a small-scale business named Tummie collections has passed away shockingly.
According to a viral tribute, the young lady reportedly passed away while heading to her toilet. She seems to have slumped and died from that point. The actual cause of her death is currently sketchy.
A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) identified as Mr. Ogundare Lawrence Opeyemi, has slumped and died in Bayelsa State. Opeyemi, it was gathered, died in Nembe, Nembe Local Government Area, where he was posted for his primary assignment.
It was learnt that the deceased corps member slumped a day after he had a party with his colleagues in the area.
“A day after the party, he complained of a health-related issue and before we knew what was happening he slumped and died”, a source who spoke in confidence said.
His death caused panic among corps members, who raised the alarm over incessant death of their colleagues in the state.
The Nation reports that his remains were later conveyed to and deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa.
But on Friday, corps members cried uncontrollably when kinsmen of the deceased came to convey the remains to his home state, Ekiti for burial.
Hundreds of corps members trooped to the mortuary section of the hospital in solidarity with their departed colleague.
This man is in deep trouble after discovering his house-help is HIV+ yet they have been having sex for over four months which automatically means he is infected
It does not stop there, he suspects he has infected his pregnant wife or might infect her in the near future and endanger the life of their unborn child.
“I am at a point in life where it seems meaningless to exist on this planet. I just discovered that my house-help is HIV+ yet I have been having sex with here for the past four months or so without any form of protection,
What started like a joke has now pushed me to the edge and I believe either my wife is infected or will soon be infected with the virus, although I have not taken tests to confirm if I already contracted,
I recently bumped into my 18-year-old house-help taking some strange tablets in our kitchen and when I confronted her, she said sh was on anti-retro-viral medication. I could not believe it and just left for work.
But it kept coming up and I decided to call her while at work just to be sure she was not pulling a fast one on me. She claimed to have been diagosed with the virus at 16 years and has been on medication since then.
I was livid, I asked her why she never bothered to let me know so I could at least exercise caution but she said it was difficult to get there since she was sexually starved when I initiated this dangerous affair,
I know you may call me stupid for having an affair with my house-help in the first place but that is water under the bridge, it has happened and I am here, with a pregnant wife expecting our first-born and I am not sure they are safe,
I can no-longer comfortably have sex with my wife and if I start using protection on her now, what excuse or reason shall I give?
I am seeking your guidance on how best to approach this situation, I really love my wife and regret the temptation I fell for”.
We’re used to hearing these words preached in our ears; “One good turn deserves another” and “What you sow is what you reap.”
How often do we get bored carrying out the same routine on a daily for one week?
What if you were asked to go on with same exercise for 30years? How consistent would you get without complaining?
I can bet less than 10% would agree to this task. Well here’s some motivation for the weekend.
This man sold yoghurt for 30 years on the street in Kaduna and he is nice to young children, he gives them free yoghurt when they don’t have money. The good he did came back to him when one of his awoof customer came and surprised him with 3 million cheque……
The ex-beauty queen shared this absolutely stunning make-up photo of herself earlier in the day… She looks dashing! The lovely mother of one had yesterday shared these lovely photos of her mother as she turned a year older.
She wrote alongside the photos:
“The moment you realize your mum is a diva?? i love you mummy!!! Words are not enough to express how much i love you. You are my super WOMAN ?? HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU MY NUMBER1 BABE❤❤”.

Ata Takyi, the woman who bit the manhood of Philip Ansah, the municipal commander of the Ghana National Fire Service at Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region, has been arrested.
She was arrested after police investigators discovered she had been in an amorous relationship with Ansah, according to a report by the Ghanaian Times.
She was charged with causing harm and later given police enquiry bail.
Takyi, 24, had given police the impression that the fire officer had been harassing her for sex.
Atta had told the police that Ansah attempted to rape her in the early hours of Saturday at her residence in Techiman.
She said after efforts to get him to stop failed, she bit his manhood in a bid to defend herself.
Ansah, who collapsed after the bite, was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
A man has made a demanded that his ex-fiancee and her family return all that he ever gave her after the young lady refused to marry him – according to the lady’s sister who shared the story on social media:
“See me see wahala. This is the expenses list of what my sisters supposed hubby gave my parents, to pay back all he has done for her. Meanwhile, my sister knew this guy less than 2months ago, through my parents.
He claims he wants to marry my sister. But my sister insisted on studying him first before jumping into the marriage. The guy and his parents, especially the mum, were hurrying everything up, that they needed a wife ASAP.
To my parents it was a dream come true while my sister was not happy about the whole issue. Finally my sister said, nothing good can come out of it because she does not have feelings for the guy and she sees no reason why dey are in a rush.
If you look closely at that list, you will see #220,000, that was meant for the traditional marriage, claiming they needed it in a small way. Since my sister said NO, they requested for a pay back of all he has done during their time of dating, including the money he gave my brother.
This guy was nabbed dressed like a woman and pretending to be one – he was caught in a hotel in Jos, Plateau state and was arrested by the police.
He said he is from Jarawa, in Plateau state – when asked why he was doing it, he said that is where he used to get his small “CHANGE”.
While pleading with the police officers to lower their voices, he confessed he doesn’t have sex with his male clients. He only sucks them… You can imagine?
Watch as he was being questioned by the police. It’s somewhat hilarious though… The people questioning his though…
Lagos Police arrested Uchena Tony Ehumadu for raping his 15yr-old daughter on Monday.

This impromptu wedding couldn’t have been more perfect for this as opposed to other people – Catie Bossard got the surprise of her life when her boyfriend Zach Baldwin proposed to her last Friday during a weekend getaway in Vail, Colorado.
And right on the spot after proposing, he revealed that he had also planned their wedding for that very day with the help of their family and friends.
Catie shared the unusual story of her dual engagement-wedding day in a post on the Love What Matters Facebook page.
Here’s what Catie wrote:
“Zach and I went up to Vail for what I thought was a getaway weekend just the two of us. Little did I know Zachs months of hard work were beginning to fall in place. We arrive in Vail, get checked in, and head up the gondola for lunch.
As we walk over to a scenic viewing area with a huge wooden deck, Zach cannot hold in the anticipation and almost immediately drops to one knee.
‘Catie Winona Bossard… will you marry me.’ I am pretty sure I said ‘Yes’ before he could even finish.
Luckily, Zach and I have discussed marriage for quite some time so it was not necessarily unexpected but none the less a very exciting moment. He told me:
‘Everyone is here but I have a second question for you.’
I look up and see his family and a few friends come running down to celebrate.
‘I have a second question. Would you want to get married today. Everything is set up. Your dress, plans and EVERYONE is here.’
As I turn around I see my mom, sister, best friends, aunt and uncle come running to greet us. Ecstatic and confused I burst into tears and start crying and hugging on Zach then the entire family.
Everyone is still waiting for my answer but I am still unsure of the question.
‘Catie, do you want to get married today? I have everything ready to go in about 3 hours.’
I am quickly trying to process exactly what is happening.
My answer… ‘Yes. Let’s do it!’
As the wedding begins immediately after the engagement we make our way back to the hotel and start getting ready. The guys all gather in one room and my family had a bridal room setup for me.
Luckily, we have the most amazing family and friends so everything was so easy… hair, make-up, ties, suites… And the dress. Everyone we tell this story to is so concerned about THE DRESS!
My mom and sister picked out a dress and my two best friends Alex and Amanda picked out another. It was easy. Tried them both on and went with the one that I felt most comfortable in. Oh, and it was beautiful.
The ceremony was on top of Vail mountain overlooking the most beautiful view I have ever seen. One of my best friends and fellow coaches, Bryce married us about 4 hours after the engagement. Zach’s friend, Landon was even there to help get everything on camera.
I will never fully understand what was going on in Zach’s head but I am certain he knows me better than anyone in this world. I never wanted a big wedding. I never wanted to spend hours finding a “perfect dress”. I never wanted to make a guest list and think I left someone out. I never wanted to plan this “perfect wedding” that I never wanted. What I wanted was to marry my best friend. I wanted exactly what Zach gave me. Love. Friendship. A sense of peace when he’s around. Marriage is so much more than a wedding or party.
Thank you to all of our family and friends for help. I know Zach is a great delegator and had you all busy. Yall pulled it off! Best surprise wedding ever!
And most of all… Thank you Zach. Words do not explain how surprised, happy and grateful I am. I love you babe.
The singer’s son, Cameron turned 8 yesterday and the family had a house party with family and friends. How lovely!
The newly 8 year old looked cool in his Real Madrid jersey outfit as he posed with his friend – he’s obviously a Real Madrid fan as opposed to his father who is a Chelsea fanatic… Even his cake is a Real Madrid cake!

This has gotta be the most bizarre twist I’ve heard of all September – a child was born to a man who was once a woman who got pregnant by a woman who was a man and they want more!
The couple made history last year when the transgender ‘father‘ fell pregnant by the trans ‘mother‘. And now, four months after giving birth to their first child, Fernando Machado, who was born a woman and his partner Diane Rodriguez who was born a man have revealed they want to expand their brood.
The new parents, from Ecuador, have opened up about life with their new baby after becoming the first transgender couple to fall pregnant in South America.
‘Being a mother was never something I thought I would do because I am a transsexual,’ Rodriguez said. ‘The law before demanded that to be recognised as a woman you had to be castrated.’
The couple have kept their fans updated with the pregnancy journey and even shared pictures from the maternity ward when Mr Machado gave birth in June.
‘We live as man and woman. I’m a transfeminine woman and Fernando is a transmasculine man. The process to get here was complex for each of us, she said’.
Ace Nigerian comic act, Basketmouth has once again talked about the recent robbery incident at his home in the Lekki area of Lagos State revealing that, gracefully, his children were unaware of the robbery incident because they were asleep all through the encounter.
He told Saturday Beats:
“I will rather not talk about the robbery incident because it is in the past now. I just thank God nobody was hurt. My kids were asleep throughout the incident so that is something to really thank God for as the trauma would have messed them up for a while.”
When he asked what fame has robbed him off, the ace comedian simply said it was his privacy but he was quick to add that he would not change anything if given the chance.
“I have been robbed of my privacy and the freedom I had. The fact that I must be very careful with everything I say and do is a bit of a pressure. However, I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything. I won’t change a thing,” Basketmouth said.
An Italian TV presenter has been a subject of criticism for wearing a crucifix and rosary beads while reporting the news.
According to Daily Express, Marina Nalesso, 44, has worn the religious accessories on several occasions during broadcasts on Italy’s state-owned channel TG1. The Venetian journalist, now based in Rome, often presents the 1.30pm slots.
She said her reason for wearing them was ‘for faith and to make a statement’. More photos belowHowever, Marina Nalesso was slammed on social media by people saying she should keep her religious symbols for private occasions.
Her biggest attacker was Silvio Viale, a radical atheist and member of the Democratic Party in Turin.
He wrote on Twitter:
“Even today at TG1 the arrogance of a presenter wearing a rosary around their neck.”
Another critic wrote:
“Religion MUST be a private act. Leave rosaries at home, don’t take them to a public TV channel.”
Another tweeter who was critical of her actions said:
“Since when is TG1 with the Vatican? Rosaries and medals everywhere.”
Others moved to defend the journalist for her decision, one Twitter user wrote: “Veil yes… but crucifix no?”
RAI, the country’s national public broadcasting company, permits religious symbols to be worn by newsreaders, despite demands from some quarters to have them banned.
There’s nothing but that sense of joy when you finally accomplish a really long term goal! Twitter users, @Quezzy_quell and @Loveyan_ tied the knots yesterday and this very cute photo of the ecstatic husband grabbing his wife’s bum is currently trending on tha web!
Quezzy, the groom said he had waited for 6 years to finally own all that buttload – just immediately after he had his marriage papers signed, he grabbed his woman and went for it.
Yet another twist has occurred in the alleged slush accounts traced to former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan.
According to her counsels, two of the accounts among the 5 in dispute belong to Dame’s late mother, Madam Charity Fyneface Oba.Mama’s Peace’s counsel, Mr. Charles Ogboli, also admitted that only three of the five accounts in dispute could be traced to the ex-First Lady and her mum.
At press time, it was gathered that Mrs. Jonathan was in Abuja where she was strategising on how to win her case.
The ex-First Lady’s counsel spoke on the Channels Television discussion programme, Sunrise and said:
“That is not true. The First Lady did not hold five accounts. They are three accounts. The First Lady was the signatory of one account and the mother was a signatory to the other two accounts.
“These accounts were not on a company’s name; it is on a personal data name of the First Lady. If you check, the BVN showed clearly on a personal name.
“And if you go through the BVN, it shows that it is her personal account; it is not connected with the companies facing trial.
“The First Lady was never privy to the companies standing trial. The money that is in the account ($5 million) should be left to the First Lady.”
Responding to a question, Ogboli added:
“I am explaining on behalf of the First Lady that this is what transpired.”
He maintained that the former First Lady had protested between 2013 and 2014 against the use of unknown companies to open accounts for her by the former Senior Special Assistant (Domestic / Household and Social Events to the former President), Dr. Dudafa Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel.
He said:
“What I am trying to say is that the domestic servant, Dudafa, who was asked to open accounts, went ahead to use a company’s account which the First Lady discovered and said I am not part of this.
“She said ‘I am not a director of this company, neither am I a shareholder. I did not present any certificate of incorporation, I didn’t ask them to open any account using a company or companies’. The discovery was made between 2013 and 2014 and immediately she kicked against it.
